Is there a tutorial on how to make this game without gems? They say there an important part of the game. Uh, can someone explain what's so important about increasing attack power and nerfing another stat? I played the last build and can honestly say that the game was perfect without them. I get it's supposed to differ your character in a mirror match and what not, but usually I would just play and watch my opponent. Instead of worrying he'll do the same thing I do. Besides, I dont feel like having my character fuc*ing glowing every color of the rainbow every match.
i guess this is dan's last gift to us as before he departs to the afterworld~ ^^ some saikyo training...the way of the dan
@3 i think it was a plot so they can us talking about SF x T more..and probaly cuz they wanted more money.
@3 Rainbowmode aside, I don't understand why people are whining about the usage of gems.
It can be used as turnarounds, it set up mindgames and halts reckless actions.
In other words, giving some depth to the game.
Pandora, tag and gems. I'll admit it's quite overkill with the mechanics, but it opens up so many opportunities and tons of different playstyles.
Just look at SF4. The Focus mechanic alone gives the game a incredible amount of depth. And yet some people are starting to think it's to simple and lacks options.
So it just pisses me off seeing people whining about how boring SF4 is and then whining to take away a mechanic (Gems) that increases the depth of the game.
Not saying that you complained about SF4, but I assume so seeing as you're showing frustration towards the game.
@3 Glad you had a chance to play it but I hate to say, your argument is invalid because you haven't played it with the Gems yet. It's not your fault it's Capcom for bringing this in so late when it should have been the first thing out there.
When you play the game with the Gems you can make a non biased opinion about the game, but for now we all don't know yet.
what happen to the jap song? ):
this song is so bleh, and is less-suited for this clip. IMO!
@3 if you haven't played the game with gems you in your opinion on them isn't based on facts it's all guess work. I can prove this by quoting you. You said "what's so important about increasing attack power and nerfing another stat" Well for starters only assit gems nerf stats most gems only give buffs. Here is what is so important say one character is fast but has as a slow damage output you can add on an attack gem that activates when you land a few normals. But if you prefer to play slower add on a life buff gem. Its all about catering to your own play style
I don't mind gems so much, though there should really be an option to turn off the color glow. And I wish they cut Pandora out of the game (thought that's doubtful since it's tied to the story).
Shoutouts to bringing up gems in a topic that has nothing to do with them
Hehe "If you can't handle the timing... try using this gem I have!"
You heard it here, folks! Wanna emulate Dan? Use a gem :D
I actually don't mind the Gems as a mechanic, but I DO find that pretty funny. Sometimes I think Capcom knows full well what they're doing and how folks perceive them.
As for Asuka being in officially, I'm super happy. They missed out by not having her and Lili fight Sakura and Karin, but it's neat to see both of my secondary characters from Tekken 6 here :) My main was Roger Jr. (or rather his mother) but I get the feeling we won't see him as a playable character in this game. Ah well.
@7, he is like Obi Wan Kenobi now... He came back as a spirit.
Wow, these comments.
It's like eventhubs was made for people who got their feelings hurt on SRK.
For one, Capcom introduced gems this late and refuses to let people play with them, because they know damn well that retards like you will say "WELL YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED WITH THEM YET" and that Gems are inherently a stupid idea, and always have been, in every game that used variable stat systems.
Second, nobody even really CARES if Gems are dumb or not, the fact of the matter is, you get specific Gems for pre-ordering at specific retailers.
Meaning there will never be an even ground.
Now that look back, how do gems help fight disparity? They are just stat alterations and some cheap "RPG" mechanic. CvS2 grooves and KoF98 modes helped make mirror matches different, while gems... feel like a gimmick and clamor to hop on the "psuedo-RPG" bandwagon like every other genre.

Well wouldn't you rather have a tutorial in there so that beginners actually learn the fundamentals of the game so they dont have to mash DP all day long.
Really, people will find a reason to complain about everything. It seems like capcom is finally showing initiative with modes like this but still its not good enough?
Yet another SFXT thread derailed by "buh teh gems", stay free EH.
@ 21
If you want to be good or get better at a game, you have to put in the time and the work. Don't get me wrong, I like tutorials, the ones that are made by players who find out new stuff. I don't think it's necessary for Capcom to put a tutorial in a fighting game. Especially not in a noob friendly game like this where you can activate gems for automatic blocking. LMAO!
Wow, as much as i fear for this game..they are IMPROVING in tons of other ways at the same time. THE MAIN SOLUTION FOR CAPCOMS PROBLEM (Which is..apparently that their games are to hard for beginners/casual players) is that they never have a more than shi-tty tutorial or learning system..Trail modes are just mostly bad combos that no ones gonna use anyways, but its not teaching players the mechanics.
Now that they have a tutorial mode, if its well done they don't need to dumb down their games which they are doing. Man, they have more modes, tutorial, customization, more characters, etc etc, they have outdone themselves. I pray this game will be balanced \;..
Great addition....tutorial mode will be needed... helps out my nephews, and friends that dnt play this type of game much... A+ work.
Dan is obviously teaching from beyond the grave as a spirit that only you can hear or see. You're not beating him up after all.
There is just so much fun about this game that I'm afraid is getting drown out.
@22 "If you want to be good or get better at a game, you have to put in the time and the work"
Completely agree, but what does that have to do with a tutorial for BEGINNERS? I think you missed the point. Obviously the tutorial isn't aimed at us. The fact that its there though, will help raise the overall quality of the experience for everyone.
Dont get me wrong, im not a fan of input shortcuts and comeback mechanics, but ultimately if you loose to a "noob", what does that make you?
READ MY WORDS:
Capcom WILL make a game featuring ONLY SHOTOS and put it as DLC and it well sell REALLY well for the little effort needed to go into it to please the lazy people.
Dont believe me? WATCH HOW MANY Ryu/Ken teams you see online ignoring 95% of the roster, because to them trying new things is for suckers.
this song is bored, i think the japanese song is better.
WHAT!> GAME DEVELOPERS TRYING TO MAKE MONEY!!? THAT IS JSUT WEIRD!!!?
:P
nice to see the tutorial mode for beginners. Yeah I like that they add stuff like this. More players + more fun = more fighting games
Gems suck because it is a DLC option and it will take for FCKING EVER in tournaments. FOREVER. Seriously this games rounds already last an awkward amount of time, we don't need it to take even longer.
Also Gems like Autoblock and assist gems are bad, people who will use those as a crutch are nerfing themselves, but obviously a lot of new players will use it....because of that it will take them forever to actually learn the damn game though
not like I would ever loose to anyone using those gems though, so I could care less

and that is why you wrote two paragraphs and a sentence about it. Because you don't care. :>
I agree with #21, #24 and #38. I too think adding tutorials is key in helping beginners, newcomers, noobs (whatever you wanna call them) understand the basic mechanics of the game. That along with the Online Training Mode may motivate more casual-oriented (think I spelled it wrong) to become better players. At least I hope so.
Big ups for Capcom putting none other than the master of Saikyo as the instructor!
All that's really missing is an awesome netcode. Then it's sure to bring the scene to new heights.
I wish (U)MvC3 had a mode that explained everything like this game does. >.>
Ugh Dan, I hate him.
