So much Gouken love these days! *feels warm inside* too bad bandwagoner's are going to ruin the feeling soon enough for those of us repping the old man since unlocking him in Vanilla...
bandwagoners* not posessive, plural, dammit diddy!
does it help a lil that i kinda wanted to learn gouken before seeing a bunch of tech? :3
Gouken is the new Akuma with these unblockables. With more health, he is def more noob friendly so I expect an uprise of Goukens in PSN/Live
that second vids setup is so ambiguous ! i wonder how else he can implement this apart from ultra 2
@diddysinatra agreed but I look at it this way in order to keep him in the original circle of users just beat down the wannabes I've been doing it for the better part of 4 days now and loving every second of it mainly because most of them are originally ryu or Ken users and don't realize u can't mash a Kongo like a DP lmao
i think the term unblockable is wrong for all ae stuff.
ublockable are situation wher its impossible to block right?
like urien's aegis an oro in third strike,or even some stuff shown by desk in a video called vanilla was awesome.
i think its more appropriate to say unescapable setups rather than unblockables that suggest the move can't be blocked.
@delirium you seriously think so and no ones being possessive. As I recall my statement grammatically doesn't excersise that tense AT ALL. If you looked at the statement in which I agreed on he clearly reiterates his tense as well so please stop it and to comment on your protip you sound really dumb wanting to play a character and making them your own (playstle wise) is a large part of what the FGC is about. You "sound" stupid with that statement or more or less like a tier whore the joy of being with a character for so long and watching them improve over time is a good feeling and the sad part is Gouken has always been viable to a degree it's just a matter of how much dedication your willing to put into a character so please shut it up I'm done so don't bother replying I'm off this
I think they should've, extensively, explored the setup in the first video. All I see is whiffed reversals. What about wake-up focus escapes or wake-up backdashes? If I'm wrong, will someone please explain.
@12 That is where the retarded invention of option selects come into play. You are eliminating your opponents options but focus escapes, wakeup backdashes, and reversals which means you already know that there are 3 possible outcomes (depending on the character of course). If they hold focus they will focus the wrong way and that is free grab, combo, or ultra. Basically they lead to advantages for you and will lead big damage but it may not work on everyone.
@13 To be honest I am sick of coming here and reading about all these punctuation and grammar complaints. Why the heck are you wasting a post about that when you could be saying something constructive. People like you who do that act as though they must correct everyone for every little thing. I am not going to put a period at the end of this sentence Do you care...do you care? Seriously stop wasting your life and everyone else's with blank meaningless posts of corrections and get over it. There is a life outside of english 101.
@9
By your own definition of unblockable then that gouken set up is in fact unblockable,(the fact that these characters, under these conditions, in this situation, can not block the attack if they chose to) which is to say that it was named correctly. to say that it is inescapable is wrong due to the fact that dp's escape the immediate threat of his unblockable set up with the dive kick. As far as the focus question, focusing a meaty dive kick like that is difficult. Seeing as how there is no window for command-less attacks means you have to be frame perfect on your wake up to focus that. if you can do that consistently they you are gdlk
Gouken's Flip Dive Kicks unblockables can be avoided by just crouch blocking.
It's just like Akuma's corner unblockable against Guile/Ibuki using DF into Delayed Dive Kick, if Guile goes neutral the dive kick whiffs if he stand blocks it's unblockable if he crouch blocks it's blockable.
@16 Naw I'm not mad but that is a little annoying when you go read comments to see what people think and all you see is people fighting amongst themselves or being nitpicky over trivial matters.
@22
Grammar is not trivial. Reading #11's comment physically pained me. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean writing suddenly becomes "trivial". If someone can't even give the courtesy of writing coherently I'm not going to give the courtesy of taking them seriously.
Nice on the second vid, but is the one in the first vid really practical? Seems to me like you'd rather take the guaranteed(barring an execution error) damage from an ultra, hurricane, jumping strong, ect., rather than take your chances with the "unblockable" that there seems to be a few ways to escape from. As a low-level Gouken player I'm just curious.
This is some bullsh*t sorry but unblockables? I know they exist but unfair
by the way, i love how everyone's become an english scholar all of a sudden. calling out on people's grammar here... as if they dont know that probably half of everyone in here is still in elementary school. stupid people exist in this world and you "ain't" gonna do a damn thing about it so give it up. Live and let live. hakuna matata.
We got Lion King quotes here, sh1t just go real...
And I'm sorry but it's just funny when posters like #11 write a paragraph structured in such a way that they're trying to sound smart, and yet they lack punctuation and knowledge of basic spelling, (it's *exercise* by the way) making them seem pretty silly. If you're going to try to sound more intelligent than someone else then do a spell check so you can, at the very least, attempt to sustain the facade of an intellectual for your small chunk of writing.
Also, if anyone watched the video here you'll notice Gouken is giving up huge damage off his back throw (which you should be teching in the first place) just to have a character specific unblockable that works on approximately five characters (Ryu, Ken, Oni, Evil Ryu, Yang, and Ibuki).
Gouken is not "brouken" as some people say, you just have to know a lot of his tricks to avoid his high damage output.
All dis Gouken tech.
