over aggressive play by Bullcat, good reads by Infiltration. Great watch!
now all we need is Mago (Gouken) vs Bullcat (Gouken) vs Infiltration (Gouken).. in a 1st to 10 between them. lol
I like that these matches are under 3 minutes, it makes for very-paced action. I consider mirror matches to be extremely competitive.
Bullcat is way too aggressive for his own good. Focusing dash forward and then getting thrown most of the time. If not, he'll get poked with a low short and lose that gray health. As far as Evo goes, Inflitration is not going to use him. Evo is too big of a tourney to be gambling on a "low tier" character (as some of you may rank him). Plus you'll never know what kind of players will show up. I don't think he wants to be put in losers early. Akuma is still a good character and I'm pretty sure he'll stick with him, even during pool plays. He'll probably use Gouken at a local tourney in his area.
Also, I like Mago's Gouken better. He's not too aggressive and uses the new st. mp into fireball more often to get on his opponent.
I get the feeling Bullcat somewhat overdid it with all those focus attacks. He was literally killing himself and didn’t get much out of it most of the time.
On another note, where does all that Gouken hype come from? He’s there since Vanilla and suddenly now with 2012, I see him almost as often as Akuma when playing online.
@10
Because if you've looked at any of the change logs you'd see he's practically a new character!
And he's really good.
Great matches. Major surprise to me! I woulda thought Bullcat had this hands down! I guess the mirror match would be pretty tough for both of them. How often do you find another Gouken that's that strong right?
@10 basically the pro's hype up and predict certain characters to be the strongest in the game or wins a tourny with them,therefore everyone online picks them thinking they'll automatically grant them easy wins and more BP/PP (oh their precious points lol). plus his change log is pretty impressive
Its sad as the players who generally picked them before the hyping as they get lumped in the same category (not a gouken player but must be annoying for them especially as he was such a low tier character and they stuck with him for their reasons)Before we would have respected them, now they're "tier whores" due to the increase
@12
couldnt agree more with what you said. you got everything right 100%. i just wish there were more people who thought like you in the wolrd of SF. this day all we have are kids who whine and cry because theyre character sucks or they suck because they cant beat a certain character, so they call that character "OP" "Broken" "cheap" etc... (the latter being MORE annoying).
anyways nice play by both guys. Mirror Matches can go either way. its NEVER a way to determine whos better with said character. IMO Bullcat is still better, just because hes had more time and experience with him.
Reguardless of bullcats aggressive play he was trying the take advantage of goukens weakness which was prone to all kinds of focus attacks even if he canceled into a hadouken its just to slow for start up. Gouken has to basically commit to a grab or a lp palm off of a canceled normal if he sees the opponent focus attack. Just bad part on bullcat not scaring with kongo after focus because infiltration was pressing hella buttons to get bullcat off of him after focusing lol GG's to both though.
wtf? so infiltration just picks up Gouken for AE and he's already beating bullcat who's been using him since probably vanilla sf4. damn.. just goes to show how skilled infiltration is. not taking away anything from bullcat. but maybe "tournament" players really do have a big skill gap wih "online warriors", no matter how much pp/bp they may have.
Oh and just an observation. but bullcat really has a linear fighting style... cmon, FA all day? where's the zoning, footsies, and spacing man? I think it's safe to say that bullcat got exposed.
@12 and 13
Totally agree with you guys. This happens all the time, and always to Daigo.
But in Gouken's case his buffs are the real deal. This was my prediction long ago, and I have no plans to switch to Gouken.
It is pretty cool to see such a fabled character get so strong though. He deserves it.
I've watched these fights a few days ago and I was amazed with this. Never thought Infiltration could take this against a skilled and experienced Gouken like Bullcat who I always considered to be the best Gouken on the planet hands down. Bullcat has so much experience, even in the Gouken mirror match, he played so many times against Desora.
But Infiltration, damn he's so Godlike. Good play from both players.
It's a shame there are neat characters like Gouken and Gen that don't get played much.
I wonder if you gave their exact movesets to younger cool looking guys/girls, would more people play as them?
A lot of you make valid points about Bullcat's mistakes of trying to rush in constantly, but you have to understand that this doesn't mean he's "Exposed" or a one way player.
Most likely he was nervous playing against Infiltration because Infiltration is a pretty tough who he never stops pestering you with buttons (I've seen dozens of his matches with Akuma where the opponent has no chance to breath and he makes top players seem helpless against basic mixups).
Everybody needs a strategy going into a match. In this case Bullcat chose to try and rush him down since it was a mirror match and perhaps he's been rushed down in the mirror match in the past and struggled with it.
Sometimes your strategy pays off, sometimes you realize it's just not going to work against a player who adapts as fast as Infil...pretty cool matches though.
I've seen him take on Ryan Hart's Sagat before... I'm also interested in seeing him taking on Mago's Sagat as well.
Totally agree with #12 & #13, good posts.
Infiltrations Gouken over Bullcats all day
Great play by both Bullcat and Infiltration; going in and doing work from start to finish. Man Gouken's really looking great as well from the changelogs, respect and more power to the old man haha.
I main Gouken since vanilla and I know well Bullcat's Gouken. Seeing this matches it looks like he doesn't playing seriously. I am not saying that Bullcat is the best... but it's look like he doesn't givin much attention to these matches against Infiltration. Too many focus attacks... he doesn't play this way.
It doesn't matter how Bullcat plays here or in other games, Infiltration blew all Goukens (that I've seen in replays) away with his play against Ryan Hart, a serious opponent with a SERIOUS character. That was not some random replay and is was far better that day one Mago Gouken who only was good because Magos fundamentals are good but contained nearly none advanced Gouken technology.
Bullcat must've changed his play-style since I last saw him playing (in super), because in these matches he didn't even try to zone, FA FA FA FA FA FA all day and paid for it, I've never seen him play so recklessly. As some previously mentioned, perhaps it was nerves, or maybe he was just having fun with the mirror match (that you hardly ever see, soon to change though).
Wow I wonder how far Infiltration can take Gouken. Can't wait for EVO 2012.
