Capcom Unity posted the complete changelog for the patch that was sent out yesterday. This clears up all the mysteries surrounding the patch, minus potential hidden changes.
"There was one frame where you could not block after activating X-Factor, but that has been fixed so you can block immediately now."
Not sure if I totally agree with this, in those instances you can counter somebody using XFC to make an unsafe move, well umm safer, but whatever. I guess its situational and also if you could even land the hit within that one frame. Oh well.
At least they fixed the tech glitch in this patch.I guess it's also cool that air dashing is kinda back to how it was in vanilla.
Also, before all the whining occurs, I'm kinda glad they removed the invincibility on Wright's assist.Yeah you had to do a bit of work to get it, but once you did, it was EASILY the best assist in the game.Even though many people consider Wesker op, at least you can't just sit back and mash assist button all day with no cost while using Wesker.That's far more op than Wesker in my eyes.
Phoenix Wright was nerfed why? The assist wasn't even that bad! It was invincible yes, but all you had to do was block or just back dash or something. It didn't travel that far. Sheesh.
Why do they insist on not stating everything though? The Chris flamethrower thing is kind of big. I understand that stealthing things and allowing the community to find them is cool, but it creates this annoying placebo effect where everyone believes that this or that may have been changed.
"Phoenix Wright's α and β assists are no longer invincible in Turnabout Mode."
Some people see an half empty glass, I see an half full glass. It could mean that his 3rd assist, "Get'em Missile", is still invincible, I'll check about it. It's also a full-screen low attack, which is pretty nice.
Anyway, I'm fine with this nerf, even if I main PW. He was never intended to be good anyway, he's just a Dan-like character, use him with this in mind.
I never even knew you could cancel helmet breaker. Whats button drumming?
There's no reason teching throws SHOULDN'T push both characters farther back from each other, like, push block distance. I hate throw tech, throw tech, throw tech, oh hey, hit.
That junk's lame sauce.
And yeah, PW?
Worst. Nerf. Ever.
Would you nerf Hakan's oiling? no. Would you nerf Angry Scar? no.
What about PW having to fight into TAM while DP get's other character's to fight her battles for her and then getting a second, crazy powerful chance, while PW get's a timed boost that wears off while he still get's killed when you call him out?
How are you supposed to make comebacks with PW if you can't save the guy for the end? We're supposed to fight as fast as possible before TAM wears off? AND sacrifice using him as an assist since now he could get HBdayed after all that effort?
This wasn't a "Brain Dead" tactic or a "Bug". This was a deliberate FU to tiers and balance.
@12
I main PW too, but that nerf was still not needed. It's just as useless as the Jill nerf.
There will be another patch that will handle Wesker so that he wont have his 900k BnB thats posted on SRK
The 900k loop is with or without shades and can be done anywhere on the screen with only one bar.
The patch now was just a quick to beat the deadline.
It's just occured to me that the reason "Get'em Missle" isn't affected by this nerf is because of this -
Cap1: We have to nerf PW's assits
Cap2: Why?
Cap1: Because he get's a large finger! Why would that make him invincible
Cap2: Why does that matter? Besides, Get'em Rocket is the dog, can they hit the dog.
Cap1: NO! Because that's the dog! Why would the dog care about getting Turnabout mode? Leave it.
TL:DR - The reason PW's assist's were nerfed has nothing to do with balance but everything to do with the logic of the character's effects. That's right, in a game where Magneto doesn't just crush Wolverine to a bloody pulp ball, is now resorting to real-world logic regarding buffs/nerfs.
#12
Get em missile is not invincible. If you actually used it instead of depending on those braindead invincible assists, you'd know this.
#4 You still can't block while air dashing, the change was made after the air dash animation ends and the character starts to fall.
Good fixes, not too bothered about the PW one. The only one i didnt like was the 1 frame where you are vulnerable after XF. I thought it was a cool delibrate touch to leave some suspense and momentum changing factor in XF-ing whilst not always guarenteeing it to be safe
Oh man I forgot to leave my name. lil_keyshawn is my email!
(@28, here, Wesker will comfort you.
WITH T-VIRUS!)
@24
Well if it was a glitch then Seth Killian wouldn't have been running his mouth telling everyone to pick this assist because of the invicibility
Interesting, The Wright Nerf isnt that Major, invinvible or not, the assists are still good.
They didnt even mention Phoenix Wright's Badge and "Take That" additions, and Nemesis's level 3 final form changes colors to the costumes Now, not sure about his Alt. Though.
@37
Standing H and H again, you know, that File, then Lightbulb that puts them in the air while standing, then OBJECTION! My brother does it all the time but its tight.
If u guys saw SCR this week there was a spiderman/PW team.
That guy never used the invincibility of that move to win.
He did a hard knockdown with spidey and PW came in to give a wall bounce for spidey and spidey used his up web throw to keep the combo going.
How's that broken?
You know what I thought there was something weried with the X-factor when you activate it during block animations. I would get his when doing it. I thought that was a part of the game. Im glad they fixed it. Also glad they added blocking after an air dash so it's not so bad now.
Im also very glad to see everyone excited for H&H, everyone crying about the PW fix (Not nerf) and no focus on this really fun mode that extends the life of the game. Seriously.
@45
Didnt you notice? His character Model added a small yellow badge to the left side of his Suit Collar, and in Turnabout mode, he got a new taunt where it flashes the signature Circle with the X in the middle.
"Phoenix Wright's α and β assists are no longer invincible in Turnabout Mode."
See, no mention of his Missile assist, which might imply spamming dogs is still invincible during Turnabout mode.
Anyway, having invincible with any character, no matter how hard you have to work to get them like that, is kind of overpowered. Maybe this change was for the best.
@46: But... I'm pretty sure that's always been there.
@47: Sadly, Get 'em Missile was never invincible, even in TM. At this point, I'd say PW is a point only character, or a character to use for extended combos.
I'll admit, BtW was a little overpowered, but they could've simply made it vulnerable to projectiles or given it Haggar status where it had a few frames at the beginning and end where it was vulnerable, so he wouldn't just walk through a beam and not care. Considering he was still vulnerable from behind, I'm surprised they didn't just let that develop. A lot of characters can take advantage of that.
It's funny how so many are saying PW is useless now. So he was only good because of an invincible assist? How about you learn how to play without relying on an assist and be more cautious on when to call it in? Even if I was a PW player, I completely agree with the nerf. It's one less scrub friendly character to worry about.
@50
I agree. It is completely ridiculous to cry that much about an assist. If you can't get by because of an assist, then you weren't that good to begin with. Learn how to play on point and assists wouldn't matter that much.
Amaterasu's j.H (full charge) in glaive form still doesn't cause infinite groundbounces.
Hopefully this was an unintended change that gets reverted back to the way it was.
I see nothing about the Morrigan and Strider glitch being fixed.
@49
Huh? I noticed it AFTER the patch so I dont know.
@29 in a game that is has taken a lean in the direction of keepaway how can you think one option is going to put throw a wrench in your glass defense?
Plus I didn't use PTW(TAM) for offense anyway, I would use it to keep people at bay with characters whose better moves didn't exactly keep them safe. much better option for me as a zoning player.
No one can deny his utility it was his game play, and that was the price of having him either die early on, die before objection, die IN turnabout mode, etc. that moment where you get him out of there, so that you can deal as much pain as possible, and close the match with a DHC into level 3.
And believe me, I have had some trying times with evidence. Like when I got Seven servbots in a row, I got 8 steaks before, (surprisingly)all before I actually got the needed evidence, and Dante was bleeding by insane amounts.
Phoenix wright still had derp/BS which was that his assists were completely invincible, they removed it for Tron for a reason and some for Hagger, so I guess they wanted to remove it all.
The game turned out better than I figured though or it still needs to be explored further. I was really really afraid of Phoenix Wright, on paper this dude sounds to good, maybe they realized that (Doubt it) but still. Same with RR being the most obnoxious char to fight against, but I havnt met a good one.
Wesker no nerf? Ffff, I wanna play him and not feel bad lol, I want him nerfed to daeth lol.
Oh hey, air dash change, neat.
