Some EventHubs commenters were nice enough to type up the results from a recent Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition tournament held in China. So Xiao Hai (Little Kid) won, Poongko 2nd and Sako 3rd. They were using AE 2011, so Xiao Hai with Yun won over Poongko's Seth.
Afterward, they interviewed Poongko and asked how he felt about losing to Xiao Hai, Poongko replied that he made some execution errors and he felt really horrible about it, but since it's the result of his daily training, he can't complain too much but to try harder next time.
Then they interviewed Sako (they noticed that they forgot to do that). They asked Sako how he felt losing to Xiao Hai and getting third place. Sako said that he felt bad losing, but he wouldn't mind playing more games with Xiao Hai, even if it's AE 2011, in fact he really looks forward to more games with Xiao Hai.
Lastly, they had three beautiful female Chinese models holding the trophies and they took pictures with top 3. Something we need to do more often here.
p.s. on China vs. The International, it was 1 : 7, only 1 victory out of 8 matches, haha.
Is this tourney just AE? Quite strange for CCC to send Combofiend over rather than F Champ if that's the case.
#2
Pretty sure they went because it's China and it's like a mini vacation for them, not just the tournament experience. Plus fchamp plays marvel too, so maybe just ae is not as great an incentive for him to go based on prizes alone, assuming there was a cash prize which is why he went to scr. Multiple tournaments side bets and money matches, lots of potential profit for him.
They went to China to play the crap version of AE? Pointless
if you go back and look at some SBO results for KOF 98, and KOF 98 UM, you'll see xiao hai on there. He's literally a young boy, like his name suggests in chinese. Had strong execution by the time he was 11, from what i heard.
The last year of vanilla KOF 98 at SBO, Ryan 'Fubarduck' Harvey was there with some friends, and one of them had overheard xiao hai's parents tell the kid (in chinese) that if he loses, he's not eating dinner tonight. Probably reason why he won that year XD But he didn't take KOF 98 UM the following year.
xiao hai(little kid) is a underrated top 2 in china, the best being big mouth(DAKO).
chame to sako for losing to him.
of course losing to them is mainly because of the complete ignorance of the chinese scene by the world.
in fact i played a guy called lijun in beiijing (better yun in china)who easily beat xiaohai but loose to dako feilong.
This is cool and all but Mike and Fiend need to be at SCR. I love rooting against Combofiend in Marvel (due to him winning so much, it's pretty fun) and Mike in AE... (Cause it's Mike)
where the hell is the pic with the girls holding the trophy? you mention it in the article but then no picture. WTF
@Guangzhou, China
Iirc, Xian mentioned
Xiao Hai (eLive), one other Chinese player (Da Kou?),
Hori Sako (@16 One of Japanese tournaments he used Yun before),
Mago (MC or someone else ??), TH Poongko,
CC Mike Ross & Combo Fiend are to beat!
Not too sure Sako's wife mentioned it
@Guangzhou, tournaments' sticks are different than US or JPN
So requires some adjustment!

Can't wait for Mike "I like women" Ross and ComboFiend go on CC Live and tell USA how they feel about FGC in China and fighting in a Chinese tournament.
From what I can remember as an 8 years old boy in a Chinese arcade in 1992, Street Fighter II was always the most popular arcade cabinet, that's way before KOF's dominance. Chinese arcades in the early 90s were so freakin' dirty and ghetto, if anybody's been to Chinatown Fair, ya it was kind of similar, but dirtier.
Wonder how the current scene has changed/evolved in 19 years.

the real winner of this tournament is sako, even if he lost he showed some impossible clutch play to xiaohai
I could have sworn I'd seen this up here already.....I've gone through all the twitpic images of this event from that account, and a few others.
Weird.
