In the offline mode, the goal is to dominate each territory on this hexagonal grid. After choosing either the Hero or Herald faction, you then hop from place to place, either defending Earth as a Hero or trying to claim it as a Herald of Galactus. Each victory brings you closer to owning that territory, and if you achieve 100% ownership of a given battleground you're rewarded with a top-notch Ability Card. However... the final battle for the last 10% is a real doozy, with brutal AI opponents armed with particularly strong Ability Cards. A tough battle, but all that playing will yield many Ability Cards for the online portion, where you're facing down other players.
Thankfully, there's more to do in the offline mode than move a percentage bar. Notice the Hit List in the lower right corner - as you move from area to area, the Hit List alerts you as to which characters inhabit a given battleground. If you pay attention to this data and "take out" a full row of the Hit List, a bonus background will appear. This newly unlocked area will award even better Ability Cards, but if you lose a match on that stage, poof, the area disappears.
I know Wesker is on everyone's hit list. :P
So hype for this mode. And Shonuff is right, so long as the DLC is free!
....
Not gonna happen.
Nice I've had enough of the gems news today, really lookin forward to this mode.
Yes! A mode that turns us into hypocrites!
First week:
"I will defend the Earth from those Heralds!"
Next week:
"This world belongs to Galactus!"
All in all, this looks SO damn fun! The possibilities are near endless, and for a mode that is MEANT to be broken and unbalanced, I find this so entertaining.
what a stupid mode I mean why have a mechanic that destroys balance intentionally? Fun? Huh? Gems? Ooh sorry I mean cards. Lol no hate over here but saying the word gems seems to initiate all kinds of rage, yet over here they announce cards and the same people say it sounds fun. Go figure, I look forward to this update as well as the sfxtk gem system. Just making a point. Cheers.
I don't think they need to patch Wesker, people just need to find ways to deal with him. Its just like when Vanilla came out and Sentinel was the "Best character in the game"...eventually everyone found a way to deal with him and now he's not a threat. In actuality, Sentinel is still more of a threat then wesker...one hit from him and your toast. The only diffrence is wesker needs two chances to kill and Sentinel needs one. Any character can kill all three characters off of level 3 X-Factor. The only thing I agree on is bringing Weskers health down to 950K. Done... Patched!
@6
hahaha still mad about wesker? That's what happens when capcom makes a game that is targeted at noobs
@13 I don't think people are saying gems won't be fun, they are mad because 1. Gems are apart of standard gameplay, cards is not mandatory, and unlike gems if u don't have to request personally that your opponent don't use gems if u don't like them. and 2. All gems are not free....Special Gems will be available for DLC, some people think this will throw off balance if those Gems are really good...which if they cost money they better well damn be...
Now I don't give a damn what Capcom does with SFXT I was never going to get that game....It reminds me too much of Sf4, which is dead to me
Kewl beans.
