Lynaken and the Baka Oro blog have been posting lots of interesting match statistics from a single Japanese Shinjuku arcade recently and it opens up newer revelations about the scene in Japan.This is the best:
Kazunoko Seth || NO NAME Gouken: 2-4
Haha love it
'' Kazunoko Seth || NO NAME Gouken: 2-4 ''
LOL... Probably Kyo Anton or Keike Desora
Gouken looks stronger than ever now.
Also, Daigo Ryu looks unbeatable now... That fireball buff +10 damages looks broken... In a match, Ryu lands at leat 5-6 fireballs... that means extra 50-60 damages... hmmm doesn't look good for the rest of the cast...
Shinjuku Taito has to be the highest level fighting game center in the world. All of those players are beasts.
Looks like Sagat's back on the menu, boys!
"Fei Long and Sagat were considered two very strong characters in AE, but it appears that Seth eclipses both of these characters now."
C'mon Nyoro, don't take the players out of the equation! It's Kazunoko who is using Seth. Just because HIS Seth is beating Mago's Sagat and Fuudo's Fei it doesn't mean Seth as a character is better than Sagat and Fei now.
Looks like Fuudo has just joined the "Mike Ross club".
Did someone already write that Ryu's fireball looks broken? LMAO. It doesn't matter who Daigo uses, the scrubs will complain. It used to be annoying, now it's just funny...
Kazunoko has also been having problems against Abel.
JYobin has been playing Ryu for a long time. He loves abusing Focus Attacks :). I am sure if the scrubs watch him play they will start whining that Ryu's FA is also "broken".
Iyo ibuki has been losing to lots of players, not just he ones listed here...his winning percentage is dropping.
@4
please tell me your kidding right? complaining about fireballs again? fu<k me man, why do i bother replying to idiots?
"Omg i have to worry about fireballs?!?! I had so much fun when i could jump in like an idiot and rushdown non-stop without thinking! I'm going back to COD"
Anyways, i wonder who this jyobin guy is? I haven't played this game since super got butchered, but atleast it'll be interestng to watch again.
So it finally begins. The second era of the beast. Daigo's Ryu is finally back.
jyobin's been around for a while. Not that great in my opinion (obv miles better than me so chill ha)
@16, 17, 20, 21 You guys freaking mean. Rather than giving an explanation of why the fireballs wouldn't be broken in the game and why he's wrong and should have nothing to worry about, you guys call him a fvcking idiot scrub. If he's a rookie to this kind of stuff, educate him. Ridiculing him isn't gonna solve anything. Let's act like adults here.
Now watch me get flamed for my comment making sense.
seth is was a top tier character that got buffed?? his only nerf was minor as every character is already on negative advantage after a blocked FADC DP. he still the same options if blocked. this character will definately be top tier above everyone else
i guess 31 tried to indirectly get people to bitch at my comment. im not bitching, its just me expressing my opinion, dont be an elitist, i wasnt even complaning. im just saying kazunoko is not better than mago, fudoo, nemo or iyo. look at him wrecking them. seth was already wnning tourneys in AE and he didnt even get nerfed for 2012. that dp fadc is not a nerf, every character is already on -# for a fadc dp. just my opinion, dont hate me for having an opinion
#31 I was bitching about Seth the whole time. In my opinion the 5th best character in AE right after Viper, maybe even stronger. His 50/50 were already annoying, his priority and frame advantage is sick and his options from all over the screen are very strong. His only downside was his health and that wasnt too bad because he has the advantage in most situations and its so easy for him to get in those situations. So i really dont understand why he got stronger. The only matchup were i actually look good against seth is Sakura. Once you figure out the tendencies in 50/50s he has nothing on her, because she has stronger Air to airs and his jump in attacks get beaten by her cr. Fierce. Shes his bad matchup, all my other characters loose to his moves even tho i react to them, and make pretty good guesses in a lot of situations.
to be honest i will admit Seth is incredibly annoying cause all of options,hell whenever i face a seth player i have to mostly guess the entire match cause his mixup game after a knockdown.so i dont blame people for complaining its just annoying that with each version of this game people find another character to call broken without actually practicing the match up
#37 Sakura's anti air c.hp is a joke against Seth. That move is against regular jump ins. You can't know if Seth is going to just jump or do a dive kick. That will pretty much defeat the purpose of using a normal to anti air.
The second weakness of Sakura is, again, anti airs and reversals. No invincible reversals except for EX-Shouoken which takes 3 meters to make safe and it's 12 FRAMES on startup which makes it completely garbage. Seth's j.mp air-to-air is also insanely fast and gives you juggling opportunities. The only decent air-to-air Sakura has is j.mp but you have to be far from the opponent for it to work.
When Seth is applying his never ending pressure, Sakura almost has no way out except for backdashing which isn't always a good option, especially in the corner. When he knocks you down, you have to block, you can't uppercut FADC as leniently as some other characters can.
@27
you would be absolutely right...if this was probably back in Super. people have had a significant amount of time with SF4 series to know whats up. even for the people who just got the game, its not that hard to see that fireballs arent "broken." he obviously knows whats going on, but instead of saying something smart like "hey guys i think Ryu fireball is great in 2012...just like in Vanilla. what do you guys think?" he says:
"Also, Daigo Ryu looks unbeatable now... That fireball buff +10 damages looks broken... In a match, Ryu lands at leat 5-6 fireballs... that means extra 50-60 damages... hmmm doesn't look good for the rest of the cast..."
what kind of idiot bases the entire casts MU knowledge on one characters Fireball? sorry i dont know about everyone else, but i have had enough of people who dont know what theyre talking about. you want to educate him? be my guest. ive already done it a billion times, and quite frankly its getting old and annoying.
Dunno what game you're playing #39 but Sakura can run a train over Seth lol
#39 i main makoto, juri and Rose and i have to tell you, normals are very strong against dive kicks. Dive kick characters will have a lot of problems if you know the timings of your normals. In fact, pros rely on their normals way more then on shoryukens against dive kick characters. And if seth does an early dive kick, you can just react, if they do it too late, cr. Fierce needs the same timing for normal jump ins and his dive kick. Sakura also has jump back roundhouse to anti air, jumping roundhouse is also a great air to air, and flying tatsu is great if you read a jump. And jumping strong is very fast and has great priority too. i dont know the priority and frame data of it, but i always beat seth in the air.
And you know whatbeats Seths pressure? Not letting him in with her great anti air. And Sakura has a weird hitbox that messes up Seths combos and blockstrings, u can easily get a jab in. Her jab is a good tool and you can easily link and make it a very damaging combo with her tatsu loops that are very effective because of Seths low health, sakuras great Damage and the stun she deals. And in terms of footsies she wins all day and her tatsu pressure forces Seth to a lot of random shoryukens and you can drain his meter or get a great punish.
#45 It's not that simple. Seth has no 50/50 situations, there is always a 3rd or 4th options. Using a reversal, using a back dash, using focus attack back dash, using neutral or forward jump. Even at point blank range it's not a 50/50.
The above poster's points are not well though out but they are completely legitimate. Seth has to move in through the air. His foot speed is terrible so playing footsies does not work. If you are on your game with your antiairs it becomes difficult for Seth to get in. When he gets in all hell breaks loose this is true but he does not have a free way in. And his dive kick most of the time is negative on block.
Why Capcom? why did you take away everything fei long had in both arcade edition as well as from ssf4? I swear i've been to the lab where the game techs work. Metaphorically it's just a bunch of monkey's they have that work there. And when i say monkey's i mean chimps. And when i say Metaphorically I mean chimps who press blue for bananas and red for grapes.
#45 If you read my post more carfully you will see that i know that his jump arcs differ, its still an animation and you can react to it, actually you can react to it a lot easier with a normal then with a dp, wich is why so many pros use normals against dive kicks, the only difficult part is that sweet spot where you dont know if its a dive kick or a normal jump in. but its hard for anybody to find that sweet spot, so most of the time your timing for the jump ins is either the same for dive kicks and for normal jump ins or its early enough that you can spot that its a dive kick.
And i covered your other point in my post to, i said that Sakura has a weird hit box wich messes up a lot of Seths combos, so you do can get a jab in.
What you are talking about aren't blockstrings. Its a 50/50 situations after his tandem engine or on wakeup. I covered that in my 1st post. There you just have to know his tendencies. She has the same options there as any other character. So that situation is irellevant in the discussion if Sakura is a bad matchup for Seth.
#46 i guess they say it cause of the options of the attacker, its either a command grab or an attack.
After I dled 2012 I jumped to a few endless game with fei to test him out, I find his nerfs very noticeable, especially the rekka, you will always have to hit confirm 1st hit rekka which is very hard to do even on high level play I believe, otherwise you will eat a sweep knock down and then a mixup, but now you can't even do flame kick fadc to be safe because its -1 on block now. You just need to be even more consistant with him now (ex chick wing dont cross up now...) and you absolutely cannot take too much risk now which is what hes character is about...
Any fei players that tested him out will tell you he is different, not necessarilly bad just a bit different, require some time to get use to and change play style maybe.
Fei Long is about taking risks? I learn something new every day.
I'll join the Seth vs Sakura MU.
The Match Up is bad. You have to take huge risks to get in as a Sakura once the lead is lost. It's not like Seth has hard time getting in, while Sakura just gets a point blank situation for free. lol
Sure her Stun & Damage is insane, if you get a full jumping combo. Otherwise she's medicore.
I rarely even play against really good Seth's but I had some first to tens and what I experienced is:
I need to switch to Cammy to win that Match Up.
It is possible to do with Sakura but extremely hard. One missed cr.HP and a nightmare awaits you. She's already bad on wakeup and Seth's a character that even trashes Cammy's or Ryu's wakeup.
Walking speed controls the footsie game, that's true but that's not the only factor. If I can read the wobble or the player I'll always win footsies. Also Seth "can" dash in after a whiffed cr.MK or a st.h.K it isn't easy or safe but if you get surprised you have him on your ass for a really long time...
@55
Yes, I'm pretty sure you dont play fei but to me every rekka is a risk just like fireballs, neutral jump can counter it with big combos as well as normals (footsie will counter it), I dont need to remind you about chick wing since its not the safest move in the game, and hes command grab, slowest in the game? so yea I say he is about taking risk
Play Dudley, that will show you what taking risks are about. He might seem risky to you, but to me he's solid as hell.
@56
I totally agree with you. I think most folks here theorized that Sakura is Seth's worst match up just because Uryo had beaten Poongko twice. How many Sakuras have beaten Poongko? They must have missed the one sided loss of Skatan to Poongko recently.
vids or it didn't happen...
