Updated: The patch for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012 is now live on Xbox Live and the PSN. When you load up your game you will be prompted with an 11 Mb download notification.
The PC version of the patch is not coming out the today but will come out later.I think Capcom thinks AE 2012 is more exciting than it really is.
I still don't understand the point of undocumented changes. It'll let people fully utilize their characters much faster if they know everything about them. Figuring this stuff out will just take extra time that could be learning how to play.
One thing I wish they'd include is pushback info, whether or not something juggles, hit/hurtboxes, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for the buffs but I'm not expecting my scrubby ass to instantly defeat the twins and Fei with my Rose just because they got nerfed. Even nerfed the twins/Fei still have for options and are more viable than a fair share of the cast. It levels the playing field a bit and I hope most people realize this sooner than later.
LoL i like how when a console game gets a patch its almost as if a whole new game is coming out. Starcraft has had at least 50 patches and there is a much, much larger tournament scene for that game and no patch gets even close to the hype as 2012.
The bid deal about The patch is because of the arcade scene. A game like mw3 can be constantly patched and updated every day because it's console exclusive. But to constantly add balance patches is harder when a lot of the japanese players play in arcades. If sf Console was patched all the time and not the cabinets then you would end up with 2 very different games frame wise and otherwise. I think this patch, although not as hype ad they make it seam, is still pretty darn hype. I've been waiting for this for awhile

Well you should never expect to instantly defeat anyone. That was never the purpose of the update. The update is to make all of the characters much easier to play and win with and bring characters at the top level down a bit to keep things interesting and fresh. At the end of the day its all about how skillful you are as a player; what you put into it to become good enough to compete.
Even if you play T.Hawk/Dan/Hakan, if you know your match up your gonna stand a better chance at winning matches than if you did'nt know anything to beguin with.

I was just saying that some people may believe that the update is more of a game changer than it actually is. I was just stating that it just levels the playing field a little more but it's NOT like a nerf to one character and a buff to another character basically asserts a win. So yeah I was never expecting to instantly defeat anyone which was my point.
And also for the lower tiered characters, knowing the match up helps but characters that have more options naturally have an edge in a fight. So even if you know the match up certain characters are always disadvantaged if the skill levels are equal. Less so now but the update wont change the situation drastically, so that was my point to begin with.

Did you ever stop and think to yourself that maybe the fighting game genre just isn't for you? (btw this is directed to everyone that swears their life to tier lists and matchups) I mean Capcom has been doing this for 20 years now and they still struggle to get balance right amongst all their fighters. What makes you think they'll do a great job now?
In fact, majority of fighters are horribly balanced. At this point it's the nature of the beast really. You either learn to deal with it and shut your mouth (like you should be doing) or you hang up the joystick and move onto something else like Call of Duty or HALO.

I would like to see more changes on the system itself instead of just balance.
1. I want to have option to save the game instantly after a match if I found I want to save it instead of exit, go to Battle Log. This is waste of time and I have to quit from the game in order to do so.
2. When Confirm invitation failed to join, I really hate it is be kicked out and go back to the main page instead of stay in the Network Battle page.

Got it in cali, went to xbox settings and cleared cache then i had to re-download updates for ssf4 along with it came the patch. GO GO GO

Don't know if someone has already noticed this change but you can combo a shoryuken after a ex fireball on counter hit (FADC not required) in 2012 :P

Just got the patch, and now in the lab breaking in 2012 Dan. As far as his taunt building meter now, it's a decent amount on hit/small amount on block...however landing the taunt period on opponents will be interesting since the recovery on it is pretty bad and can mean a free punish from your opponent. That's my two cents on that lil tidbit anyway, pardon my rambling. Now more to other matters involving Dan's changes in his Dan kicks, damage, normals, etc...
wow oni is rediculous now, you can combo air raging demon off of cross up air tatsu anywhere on screen (not sure if its character specific). you can also combo the air demon out of an anti air SRK (like a ryu anti air srk xx super).
still very hard to use the air version of his ultra one, even after an air hadou dash.
ex tatsu after a strong or light air hadou dash sends the opponent into really long spinning knock down if it hits. (huge recovery btw)..you can combo both ultras or an srk out of it but only in the corner. mid screen it can be used as a retarded mix up/cross up.
the combo: focus attack crumple -> delayed HCF light kick -> air raging demon is possible (was only able to get it on balrog, didn't test everyone though)

T Hawk is in no way one of the worst characters in the game. If anyone ever played my T Hawk, and trust me.. Jago, Marlinpie, Wolfkrone, and Ramen Addict have played it. And ive beaten them too. Thing is people do not UNDERSTAND how to use him. THAT is why he is ranked at the bottom area of the list.

I think it's that the only changes not logged to be discovered so far is a couple of nerfs.. so people think to themselves what could be wrong, not what could be right. Maybe Bison has a hidden buff as well? Who knows, finding things in a fighting game that no one knows about or has seen before is one of the most traditional, and fun things about it in my opinion, I just hope Capcom made the right decisions ^^

Yes think you're right. Cammy's dive kick either seems faster or they made the height restriction lower. The M+H versions of SK seem faster on start up as well. Nice find.
Ryu seems much better now. I like the Evil Ryu changes as well. Chun li U1 has been fixed finally. I haven't played this game in while and I might get back into it.

I think that if they had of added 2 more characters it might have encouraged users that didn't upgrade from SSFIV extra reason to upgrade to AE. (Essentially making it so Capcom make money from the update by users upgrading that otherwise are gonna stay with SSF4)
I am kind of surprised that Capcom didn't think like that with the v2012 update.
4 new characters were not enough reason to update for some, but the knowledge that they would get the 4 from AE plus another 2 on top of that could have been just what was needed to encourage more AE sales.

You completely misapprehended my point which was that people shouldn't overestimate the update because even it it is a rebalance it isn't a completely new game. Rose isn't the worst character in the game, she is my main but she doesn't have as many options as other characters so why don't you stop being an automatic "anti tier-dickrider" and going off on a tirade whenever you see the word tier. You know they aren't based on complete arbitrary whims and baseless conjecture, I don't base my character choice on them, obviously, but they are still informative. So before you feel that you should tell ppl to quit a game you should at least take the minimum effort to read their post before seeing the words "Rose" and "tier" and telling them they don't know anything because it reflects poorly on you for being so off the mark and embarrassingly reactionary.

Besides, you assumed I only play Vega like a common idiot. I was only commenting on him. I actually play Sagat, Adon, Sakura, Rose and Ibuki.
There is are following "undocumented" changes I found out on my own that they didn't list in the Yun pdf:
- Yun's Ex lounge punch cannot combo or follow up with light version lounge punch, however, it may can work off a counter hit or certain characters - I got it off on Dee Jay but I can't get it off consistently in training and in match. Furthermore, his ex lounge punch into an ultra 1 doesn't work, no matter how I tried.
- Yun's dive kicks or DP kicks and be traded with now and can be easy knocked out of.
- It is even more difficult or impossible to do high damaging combos in the 500+ or even above 450 with his super now.
- His focus attack dash back into palm strike into light shoulder and then into lounge punch rarely works...or it has a tight input window.
- His normal moves are all significantly decreased in terms of damage output.
My views:
I will still play Yun despite of these nerfs because I love the character but I am not content with these changes...these changes have taken away his essential tools as a character, hence limiting his options. I am OK with the damage reductions but taking away his tools in the promise doesn't make sense.
I may get a lot of hate comments because Yun is generally hated by the community because many didn't want to learn the match up...well Yun is still viable but he's really a glass jaw and mid low tier characher compare to other characters in the game.
Scrubs and pissed off tier whores are being exposed left right and center on this article. lawls.

I don't know if this is the prolonged gameplay of Chaos Tower for 2 or 5 weeks talking but the combos seem to be easier to pull off.

Spin Kicks FADC into U2 is really easy to execute. I can see Juri players fishing for Cr.MP>Spin Kicks> FADC Ultra. Well worth the 2 meters IMO.

I did say Yun is a low mid tier and probably upper lower tier now.
Just played some on PSN and am loving the Honda changes. Had a great battle with THORN_BUSH who I would like to mention as a very good Rose player.
Overall this is like the balance of Super, or better, with the features of AE. I hope people play this right up until SFV comes out!
Just downloaded AE2012 and I'm enjoying Chun a lot. I hope it's not just me but Chun's far standing roundhouse seems to be faster in this version and her df.+lk while still incapable of following through with ex legs during a trade because of the airborne state seems to have been given back its invincibility properties from chocolate. It also seems to come out faster too. U2's faster start-up does seem to do some wonders as well.
I've played akumous several times online......not much of a challenge. Sometimes he will catch you with some luck sh!t but it's still kinda easy to win. LMAO sorry bro don't be mad.
I just played with claw and t hawk, claw is still the same, his hp sky high claw still useless coz its knockdown but doesnt hit crouching characters, ex version against some characters its usefull coz i noticed it has less recovery, his cosmic heel less recovery but still punished with dp, so far the flying barcelona attack was noticed that it has better priority against attacks like seth jumping mp.....
T hawk still so far the saaame and his close standing hk launcher is not that usefull coz still doesnt hit crouching characters, u can connect ex dp after it and only 1 hit, still making few tests.....

My Yun isn't the best, that I know, but I am good with him..the most matches I had online were mostly shotos so it seems you got to be a shoto player. Send me a friend request so we can a few sets because I know you can't own in this game.

honestly, yun and yang were interesting characters and every other character should have played more like them. they made the game fun, that's why I used them, and I'm still using them now. kids I haven't lost a game yet using yun today, my win rate stays over 80%. mad?
@50: I wish for this also. What makes it even worse is that the save list starts at the TOP of the menu and you have to scroll down to the BOTTOM to find a vacant spot, and i now have 60+ recordings. Whoever the UI designer was for this game needs to be fired.
Its not that vega is little better, just imagine vega from ssf4 but with cr.mk 6 frame instead of the old 8 frame, add to that i tried him more than 2 hours in versus matches and coz other characters got stronger so he still has very bad matchups, some times ur character got few buffs but still low tier coz of other getting stronger, i was in japan last september and played in taito station to know more tactics there and still the best ones do extra work to win with vega, but lets give it mord time since it just released today ;)
@ 129 Rawvoltage Hakan has improved he starts the round oiled up which aids aggressive play. I think his command grab may also have been improved upon. The problem is the players themselves it's all the same bull as before. Shotos, sonic booms and stale repetitive combo templates. I think it's time to lay this game too rest.
I played AE Ver.2012 in over 30 mins just in training mode and overall, I have to say that from regular AE to Ver.2012, it hasn't changed a lot, balance-wise. This is a good thing because all Capcom did was that they tweaked a lot of characters but giving them necessary buffs and nerfs. It is more balanced than AE, even though regular AE was fairly balanced (may get criticised for saying that but its true). Ryu feels good to play with and his fireballs are deadly. Felt sorry for Yun, his dive kick is like really bad lol but you can use it as a cross up trick or to get close though. The characters that I've mentioned are not my mains at all lol. I have tried my main, Honda and he's improved (HE'S BACK LOL), defense wise and I gonna learn his changes a further more. So far, so good for ver.2012
