Can't see many people picking up Gouken no matter how good he gets...... Flash Metroid is speaking the truth when he said that Gouken's a boring ass character. Then there's little reason to use him when you can use Sagat.

Bags on a character need I remind you about the infamous justin Wong incident at evo months after he said Adon was trash and then what his hypocrite a** ended up using him as a counter pick against Sanford it's one thing to not like a character but another to just crap on them understand I'm not coming at you just the statement I'm a Gouken player and he's FAR from Boeing if anything he's a perfect character to use if u wanna train itself out of bad habits like jumping needlessly and learning how to safe jump 3f wake up moves and a few mind games not to mention I had a blast using him against yun and yang it force me to take the time to think of a way out of being rushed down made my crossup blocking skills improve GREATLY not to mention made me a much better zoner (when I use fireball characters) he's not boring just difficult and it takes skill and patience to play him properly I'm a B+ and that didn't happen overnight and once again I'm not attacking you I just hate when I see statements such as the one u posted the FGC players should know better

I'm a 6k BP vega player and I've stunned people about 20 times in my career. Each time they were either new, or underestimated vega's counter-poking. He isn't exactly a character that piles on stun.
I'm just a little surprised it happened to mago here.
His gouken is decent though, besides.

You don't know what you're talking about. Justin Wong said that about Adon in a very early build of Super, in which he was trash. None of his moves were safe and his normals weren't as good. We're now in AE and Adon has changed a lot since Wong said that, so he is not a hypocrite.
No one cares that you're a "B+" ranked player. Talk when you place top 16 at a major. Online is silly and meant for the plebes.
Gouken Boring HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!! Man I love that old man and Ive been rocking him since vanilla. I have to say I really like mago's Gouken. He plays a smart fundamentaly solid offensive gouken and thats how I like to play. I love offensive goukens like desora. First match with vega he did bad but he got better and better and I really started to enjoy watching him play. I actually learned some key things to start doing by watching him.
Strong player mago is and his natural fundamental skills tranfered to gouken well. I can't wait for AE 2012!!!! Im hype to play the old man!!!
Very entertaining. I think Gouken is a really awesome character, but he just looks so difficult to use. Looking forward to see what changes he gets in 2012.
@3 Gouken might be many things, but I wouldn't call him boring. His moveset is probably one of the most interesting in the whole cast. Palm, demon flip, parries, back thrown which you can combo from, flashy juggle combos, etc.
I think he's considered boring because, well, he's an old dude. If the same moveset where on a young female character that looked like Viper, he'd probably be very popular.
@Dygengar that doesnt make jwong a hypocrite. your giving no credit to gamerbee who basically made adon good. justin said adon was "ass" in like week one of the games release. but besides what Shredelicious said gamerbee proved justin wrong in Super at evo.

You guys are so dumb! Really lol? #5 obviously knows about the whole Justin-adon thing. Doesn't matter if it was in the early on in super. When he started using some low tier characters after gamerbee beat him, you know he felt somewhat bad about trashing them. Then you trash #5 about playing online. Not everyone has the luxury of going to a place where a nice FG scene exists. Get real people.

The fact of the matter is that #5 used a silly example (Wong and Adon) when he was commented against Flash Metroid's opinion on Gouken. #5 called Flash Metroid an ass for 'baggin on a character', despite flash Metroid just saying Gouken was boring....so #5 got all defensive. Frankly, who cares what Flash Metroid's opinion is? And why is he an ass for sharing that opinion? It's stupid.
And the only reason people got on him about playing online is he tried to give his statement some clout by letting us know that he is a B+ ranked player, which is almost meaningless. The B ranking is basically where skill even starts to matter at all. You can literally just fight low ranked noobs repeatedly for a long time and grind your way to B. I'm not against online play at all, it's very useful and fun. But you really shouldn't bother using your BP rank as some sort of validation that you are skillful imo unless you are VERY high up there. PP is another story.

Mago seems to be using gouken, and to me he is testing their viability before 2012 with the crazy buffs these characters ate getting (juri and gouken).
