I was rooting for BT Bacardi but at least NY came through in the end :). Also guys, this is the FIRST Ultimate tournament and everyone was using new teams. Give it time. Look at it this way, Clockwork has to re-learn ten years, PR Rog has to learn characters he did not use too much and Yipes is using an almost entirely new team. Chris G is holding it down and Ray Ray's character loyalty is to be admired.

I've been part of multiple gaming communities over the past decade and it's always the same; people whining, people hating, people trolling. This is what happens when the internet gives everyone an anonymous voice.
These same people who do happen to show up to EVO (and other events for other games that I've been to) always keep their mouth shut because they know if they act up the same way they do online they would get belted out. In fact, someone said they were going to SHANK ME if they saw me at tournament, well they saw me and did NOTHING but say "hello" -- true story.

Im going on my radio show and warning EVERYONE about this game and how Capcom likes to make unbalanced characters just to spread hate!
Spencer is real good but at least he requires skill and execution.
@59 Hate to break it to you, but balance doesn't make a game fun. Here are a few examples of some perfectly balanced games: the original Street Fighter, Karate Champ, Pong. None of which, I imagine, you’d want to play for any great length of time. A game can be plenty unbalanced and still be a ton of fun to play, even competitively. There’s a reason MvC2’s core of only 4 viable point characters was enough to sustain interest in the game for almost a decade: those characters possess a veritable wealth of options and potential for mastery. Conversely, better balance is often achieved by normalizing the obvious strengths and weaknesses of characters, making them play more similarly. You then end up with a game that, while ostensibly more balanced, has less variety in the way characters actually play – defeating the purpose of balancing the game in the first place.

This is the first real big tournament for UMVC3 and you are complaining about character usage after the game has been out for not even two months? Get over it, this will always happen when a fighter will come out, regardless how "balance" it is.

Wesker is dumb, no doubt about that. He was top tier in vanilla and he will probably be top tier in Ultimate unless someone finds a good counter to him. Personally I think Spencer is the best character in the game and people are sleeping on him because everyone is flocking to the easy to use Wesker.

I still think Phoenix is best Character in the game.... People are scared to play her and that new TAC nerf is actually a buff..... People are now having trouble snapping my Phoenix in because I'm taking there bars away hahaha! They try and take mine but I only TAC one way duh! and its easy to gain meter because they think I'm going to TAC left/right, but I surprise and go up or down! Thank you Capcom! Love the new balance!

Spencer takes more still to use and also deals big damage with simple BnBs.

Wesker saved PR Balrog from losing, not Spencer. And we all know there's only pro one player who can pick Spencer and play him effectively.

JWong disappointed me with Storm on UMvC3. I love his Storm, but he just could convert vs PR and Chris G, also did a few bad choices with early xfactors. He needs to hit confirm with s.M more often, it has more reach, and then follow with Akuma's assist or S. into flight j.H dash loops or something...
Was Masta CJ there? He needs to play Storm again! He has the one of the sickest Storm IMO, top 5 easily.

SF4 Teams was crazy! Burn your bra ocv'd some guy name humbag's team and he stormed out. Lud OCV'd F.N.E.X with that chun of his! Krone was beastin as usual! There was a random team called T.F.F.A It was some scrub Ibuki, FNEX MADNESS (And Adon player) and TFA HORNETT (A SAKURA). Hornett OCV'D four teams then they lost to Jago and I think krone's team. Cj truth's team lost to Justin's also.
What I don't get is that some of you want Wesker lower in the tiers therefore playing character favoritism. Not every character has the same number of effective tools, but that doesn't mean you should take away the tools of other characters because of it. Someone is always going to be top tier and someone is going to complain about that character being top tier. The cycle never ends. To be honest, I rather have Wesker on every person's team rather than Phoenix. At most they should nerf Wesker's damage in X-factor lvl 3 to about 20% less than it currently is and overall damage by 10%. He is the formula for a good character so don't do him like you complainers did Yang.
I actually think Spencer's combos are easier than Wesker's; they're definitely a lot more lenient in timing and inputs. I really think the only thing Wesker needs is for the time his x-factor lasts to be reduced by about 30%. That way, he'll be exactly the same as long as you don't drop your combos and can get the solid hit in. It'll also make it harder to kill 2 characters with him unless you get the hit early.
@88 I dont mind if wesker is top tier, as long as he isnt in a tier by himself. Your nerfs sound fine. This will still keep him top, but not god tier. I just dont wanna see him in every match. Even phoenix wasnt in every match (though due to ppl being turned off about her) Take wesker out and the top 7 is actually pretty diverse with only 2 characters being listed twice. All im saying is nerf him so ppl dont feel like hes too good not to put on their team.
@ 89 Spencer requires tigerkneeing for his good combos. Wesker can simply abcs bbcs gunshot, assist, bla bla bla... team hyper and kill most the cast... BEFORE XFACTOR. What timing? Off air throws? They made that easier too.
Do one of three things to Wesker and he'll be fine.
Lower XF benefits or
Reduce XF Time or
Just remove shades buff.
Simple as that. Some of you want to break his legs out of sheer hate, which is why Capcom doesn't listen to the community; they're about 90% complaints and very few sensible balance suggestions
+1 For #66. People though Cable was the best in MvC2 for quite a long time. He still ended up a top 5 character but other characters came along (*cough*MSS*cough*). I think Wesker is like Cable, no doubt the dude will be top tier but I'm sure other characters will come along.
This game is young, give it time.
Shut up with the nerfs already! Yes Wesker is strong and easy to use. But at this stage in Ultimate that's the type of character people are going to use. However, he doesn't have anything necessarily cheap, he's just a solid character. People will find things that will slowly push wesker down in the teirs. I just hope they don't patch this game again. Wesker doesn't need any changes, he's fine as is. Yes, he's strong, but this Dark Wesker stuff is getting out of hand.
Vanilla Level 3 XF Wesker did MORE DAMAGE than Ultimate "Level 4 Dark OMG" Wesker. If you don't believe me, go boot them up and check.
Vanilla Wesker did more damage, could combo off the gun, could keep you juggled from full screen with the gun, and had a vastly superior counter hyper.
Ultimate Wesker is awesome, but not Dark Phoenix-like. Get over it.
to me it felt like everytime they streamed Marvel people would get hyped for sf4 in the back and vice versa. only thing is that I actually enjoyed some of the marvel matches. even with all the phoenix players or whatever they call it nowadays.
Amen #95! No one will ever be XF3 Dark Phoenix. Even Vanilla XF3 Wesker was a scarier character.
#94 I never really though of it like that. You're very right people want a stable character to use until this game fleshes out... like MvC2 Cable. And like Cable, he will most definitely eventually be out-shined by a couple of characters.

#99 That's just it, the big 3. My point is people thought Cable was the best character in the game for so long then the big 3 came along. I feel Wesker is the same; there is all this chat about him now but I bet a few characters are going to rise above him in the long run.
Oh, okay #100, I see, I also think Rogue has potential against Cable, especially one on one, Rogue can beat cable but everyone knows one on one means nothing in mvc2 Cable is rarely not on point backed up with spam assist for strong keep away.....Anyway I guess all we can do is wait and see, but When I think about all the characters, their tools and attributes,I think we may be able to confirm 1, 2 at the most being a tier higher than wesker..
