i will be buying the game, but i will not be an idiot
(Max, ignore the haters, they jealous they not the Spirit of Vengeance mane.
Anyway, totally gonna watch this - but I do wonder:
what happened to all the MVC3/UMVC3 haters? It seems they've evolved into Max/SFxT haters....)
I plan on buying this (if it has Juri), but I don't care all that much about the gems, aside from figuring out which combination will be needed for beating the final boss(es).
Maxamillian is such a nice guy you can tell he let her win
well the other day when those pics of the main menu and color edit mode were shown i noticed that theres a market cart right next to the colors in the color edit mode screen, and that in the main menu theres is shop.... so i was thinking that maybe in sfxt you earn points threw playing the game or somehow and with those points you get gems or colors.... and that if you buy the game thru amazon you donnt have to earn points to get those exclusive gems because they already come with the game..... idk thats what i think..lol
This games a joke, How anyone can take it seriously is beyond me.
IPlan on buying the game day one just because i love all the characters I will not buy a single gem I wouldn't care if the came in a 100 pack for a dollar screw that but the tag moves and all that in my mind looks awesome looking forward to teaming up with some buddies and max is cool anyone would take the deal he did anyone who says they wouldn't is a liar he's doing good things for the conunity and bringing new fans in nothing wrong with that hope he continues the good work and that Renee chick is smokin
Oh dang, I usually never see a comment before it gets deleted. Guess I better enjoy #1 as much as I can.
The capcom marketing machinery at its best. Dont get me wrong, I like Maximillian and I love and respect his work and enjoy his videos, but in the interview he was clearly not allowed to express any concerns regarding dlc exclusive gems and so forth.
Oh well, who cares, gems have been discussed in great length, we all have our opinions. A lot of us will buy the game and have fun with it, maybe sometimes we tend to take things to seriously.
I think they are purposefully not making arcade cabinets for SFxT BECAUSE they want to sell gems and it wouldn't be as viable for the arcade.
Basically the fact that no arcade cabinets will be coming out makes me think this will be a US only game. No big international Japan/America rivalries. That's a big blow to the competitive scene from day 0. That scares me more than DLC gems. But DLC gems comes in close #2.
@1 I dont understand your hate for max, hes a great guy and does great things for the community just look at Assist Me.
But i do agree with your point of saying nothing about the death of sk. It was a great loss and i think it should be newsworthy
@1 Can't you any words besides that? Someone doesn't have a life, especially if they constantly make accounts to troll. I'm pretty sure Catalyst has done more for the fighting community in one day than you have ever done in your whole life.
Go sit in a corner and cry some more.
This is why I hate ignorant and stubborn people. As soon as the gems were announced, a lot of you have been dead set on hating the game and don't even reconsider your thoughts when new information is posted about them. Although it's going to fall on deaf ears, I'll say it again, stop attacking something you have yet to experience. These gems are not going to completely alter gameplay and, from what I've read, will be balanced. If you're going to continue to hate the game, fine, but take your ignorant rage comments somewhere else.
But thats the thing. They DO alter gameplay. And to make the presumption that they will be properly balanced is an exercise in folly. There are far too many variables surrounding the gem system right now to declare that they will be correctly balanced.
Furthermore, people aren't so much ripping on the game, they are ripping on the fact that Capcom in their infinite wisdom has seen fit to hamfist a DLC function into the game that extends beyond cosmetic elements (costumes, colours, etc) and actually impacts key gameplay. This of course is predicated on your willingness to pay for it.
I feel this gem system (and most importantly, its delivery mechanism) is still undergoing some serious consideration within Capcom because right now while its a somewhat interesting idea, the execution of it seems off and poorly thought out.
@21, they couldnt even balance ~30 characters in AE. Adding gems and assists into the mix and i doubt they will be balanced at all.
But balance is besides the point. The fact is that gems will be DLC for $$$. That means that from the get-go it isnt a level playing field, which is what fighting games was all about to me.
Add that to the fact that they are shooting international competition in the foot by not making arcade cabinets, FOR THE SAKE of this DLC get-rich-quick scheme, and yeah its understandable to get upset with capcom for not even considering the competitive scene at all when making this game.
Lol, I'm not gonna avoid SFxTKN just because of a few (or maybe alot...lots of g--) measly gems! It's the game I've been wanting to play for as long as i remember tekken...
I'll play it offline or online, gems or not, doesn't matter,
i'll pawn through my opponents no matter the cost, with raw skill! xD
Don't get me wrong, gems in DLC is a plague. We can't encourage that but... As core mechanic of gameplay, we don't know nothing about gems. People wanted something to hate about this game. At first, it was the Pandora system, but it is useless. Please, chill, play and then complain if its bad. But must of all, don't buy DLC gems.
@35 With that logic, I guess you love X-factor in vanilla MvC3 even when it was demonstrated. -_-
#25
But...they are in the game. A few hundred waiting to be unlocked. The only DLC ones as of right now are just pre order bonuses...Capcom hasn't said a thing about ANY DLC for this game, let alone gems.
@31 So you're assuming he's an awful guy just because he didn't mention anything about Sksksksksk222? Anybody who goes to this website likely visits SRK. It was terrible to hear that he died (RIP), but you can't judge someone just because he didn't mention the story. Some people would rather not hear something sad such as that.
this is the problem with all these "video" people. Max/mike ross/gootecks wont come out and openly bash a game because they risk alienating viewers so they end up just being phony. Mvc3 is a good example of this, there was so many long time marvel players that hated the game(ie yipes) but they swallow there pride and play it for the viewer numbers. Sad isnt the word.
@40 "Properly Bash?" No see this is the problem with YOU people. You guys fail to see that personal opinion is a subjective argument. Just because you and a handful of people dont like something does'tn mean everyone else should.
Maybe the reason why they don't "bash" the game is because they really like the game. Max does'nt owe you anything, Mike and Gootecks don't owe you anything? And contary to popular belief Max does'nt work with Capcom. He simply loans his support or tips or guides to promote the game. To be on a payroll would mean he would be something like Seth Killian which he is not. But hey I guess Max works for Infinity Ward too since he does't properly bash CoD MW3 huh?
And about Yipes. Yipes was very excited for the game, this was long before Magneto was even announced. So I don't know where you got the idea that Yipes hates the game. He's always supported MvC3.
THE GAME HAS CROSS ASSAULT , PANDORA AND A FUK LOAD OF GEMS WITH " CONDITIONS " AND THIS IS TO BE PLAYED OUT IN A SETTING OF 90 SECOND ROUNDS ...
MAKES NO SENSE , THIS WOULD WORK BETTER IN A SETTING LIKE SMASH BROTHERS WHERE GAMES CAN GO ON FOR A WHILE NOT A TRADITIONAL 90 SECOND 2 ROUND GAME BUT IT HAVING BOTH TEKKEN AND SF4 CHARACTERS GUARANTEES THE FIRST INSTALLMENT WILL MAKE A KILLING REGARDLESS OF ALL THE CONCERNS AND THAT IS WHY I BELIEVE THEY IMPLEMENTED THE GEMS SYSTEM INTO THIS GAME RATHER THAN MAKE A GAME THAT CAN FULLY UTILIZE THE GEM SYSTEM...
EVIL RYU , ONI AKUMA WERE JUST REUSE MODELS AND EVEN HAKAN , MVC3 AND UMVC3 IS BASICALLY THE SAME GAME SPLIT INTO TWO SECTIONS BETA - FINISH PRODUCT , REMEMBER THEY WERE GOING TO BE MORE CHARACTERS FOR THE FIRST ONE BUT BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO SHIP AT A PARTICULAR DATE THESE CHARACTERS WERE LEFT OUT , LOOK AT MVC3 ENDINGS YOU SEE THE SAME " NEW CHARACTERS " IN UMVC3 MEANING THESE CHARACTERS WERE ALREADY CREATED WHICH MAKES UMVC3 BASICALLY JUST A PATCH WITH THE REMAINING LEFT OVER CHARACTERS FROM MVC3.......
@41
its not that we dont like these games perse. the real problem is that capcom is selling unfinished games. jill and shuma on disc dlc. finished costumes sold as dlc. releasing there games to soon. the gems in sfxtekken are just a tool so capcom can sell more dlc it is rediclous why cant they sell finished games? the video game indursty does earn money alot of it there is no need to milk every single penny out of our pocket. companies only want money and cant be trusted they will only listen to your money.
@44
But #44's post isn't about Capcom or about whether or not people like the games. It's about people thinking that every who has something good to say about the games is somehow a sellout to Capcom and being disingenuous about their thoughts of the games.
@ 47
i see but you did mention: Just because you and a handful of people dont like something does'tn mean everyone else should.
anyways its impossible to tell if someone is a sellout or not.as # 31 mentioned: He lied about umvc3 netcode. it is likely that people would start to think this. i cant confirm if this is true since i havent bought umvc3.
@31.
Strange as it may sound, but some people would rather not hear about a person's death. My sister is currently battling cancer, I'm sorry to say but I don't particularly care enough to hear about the death of someone I have no recollection of.
I heard about this guy on Spooky's stream, I felt bad right then, had a moment of silence for him, and that was that. It was respectful of them to mention him, because he was a friend, and a part of their community. But why should Catalyst, or anyone else for that matter, has the burden of letting everyone else know about his death?
And do you even know Catalyst's character enough to call him a Nazi? (which is insane on your part to put something like that into comparison)Do you even know if Max got paid for anything outside of the preview of UMVC3 through Assist Me? If not, then how could you come to the conclusion that he's nothing but a tool on Capcom's payroll?
@ 51
thats true. but i find it very strange that he has never complained about capcoms milking strategies. i mean he is a big guy in the fgc he and crosscounter. if they where to bash the game(s) capcom might not be milking stuffs to us anymore.
@53
Maybe he doesn't see them as milking strategies? Max has been playing fighting games and FPS's for a long time, so the yearly updates probably don't bother him nearly as much. He stated on a previous video that he was actually happy about UMvC3 announcement because he wanted more content (I agreed). Everything else Capcom has charged for has been cosmetic, so you don't HAVE to buy it, so he probably doesn't see a problem with that.
Of course I'm not speaking for Max; I'm just saying not everyone views everything that Capcom does as milking, which would explain why he doesn't complain about it. I think criticizing something just because the internet criticizes it is every bit as disingenuous as not criticizing something because you paid not to (which comes with the territory of being employed anyway. If you have a problem with that, then you have a problem with people earning a living).
@ 54
what capcom does is clearly milking. yes i dont have to buy it. and i didnt but it realy pains me. mvc3 could have had 50 characters. why would they push the release so early? they could have atleast finished vanilla. i wouldnt mind a ultimate then but if the original version perishes because of this reason i cannot support capcom for that even if i like the game. but yeah all that capcom wants is maximum profit for minimum effort.
@55
Yeah, it could've had 50 characters. Super Mario 64 could've had 300 stars in it. MW3 could have 4000 weapons in it. Everything in anything could have more and more and more and more. But there is this such thing as deadlines, budgets, contracts, etc. etc.
As far as the original version perishing, it is what it is. That's with nearly any video game, and definitely with fighting games. There were like 5 different versions of Guilty Gear X2. Why was no one upset about that? Seriously is it really that big a deal if the original version is no longer played if your experience with new game is vastly superior?
And ALL companies want maximum profit for minimum effort. ALL of them. They are in the business of making a profit.
I AM ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE ABC COMBO SET UP , IT MIGHT TURN OUT THAT THIS GAME EVEN WITH FLOATY GRAVITY MIGHT HAVE A VERY LINEAR COMBO SET UP WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE CAST BEST COMBOS CONSTRUCTED AS ABC LAUNCH AB SPECIAL ETC
All I'm going to say at this point is that if you people have a problem with videogame companies giving you a product, and already up front charging for DLC for a more complete product, then you may as well give up mainstream gaming. It's just the way of the future. Although i dont understand why some games get more flack than others. Everyone is complaining about DLC in SF x T when we dont even know what it is exactly yet, but Mortal Kombat had tons of DLC and that game's content is praised
I dont feel like I'm getting "milked." I know I will get the complete game upon release, i know i have the option to get even more gems for more options if i choose to pay more...just like i had the option to buy Jill and shuma as DLC, and scarlet/kenshi/rain/freddy as DLC, map packs for shooting games, extra characters in arkham city, etc. Capcom already said there's supposedly a couple hundred gems included already. If they wanna offer 20 more or something to buy on the side, i have no qualms.
And i'm not an idiot if i decide to buy it. It's my money and i decide what's worth it to me. People "waste" their money on all sorts of stuff. It's all subjective.
@ 57
wasnt the release date for mvc3 set for spring 2011? why did it get pushed back to february. this has nothing to do with deadline capcom just dicided to milk stuffs. and yes all companies are like this. except for from software.
Getting "milked" implies there was something in the game that was there but you HAD to pay for to utilize. MK9 had you buy a Kombat Pass to play online, and i've never heard anyone complain about that. And what was worse is that the online play was so slow and moves were so heavily delayed there wasn't much point. Alternate costumes, DLC characters, gems, whatever, they are optional. You don't NEED them, but they are available. You can rationalize it any way you wish, but complaining about things you aren't forced to buy is still pointless at the end of the day.
@ 63
it was set for spring. at first. with the from soft i meant they dont milk dlc stuff not that they dont care about profit.
This has auto macro combos bahahhaha how dumbed down can this game get?
I love fighting games but MW3 is the freshest and best thing that happaned to me so far. I can be good at a fighting games and FPS. Man that game is fun...Hey it's ok, don't cry...not all of us were meant to be good at everything they did. (Looks at his main CODY and cracks his knuckles at everyone else)...
P.S...Cody and Juri look at the audience...F U!!!! Gimmie my props!
People didn't complain about the kombat pass cuz most of them bought the game new, and if you bought it new, a free kombat pass came with it. The combat was just a way to "punish" people that bought the game used.
It's funny to see how many people complain about when a game should be released, but it's clear that they have no clue about game development. MvC3 came out when it did and now UMvC3 has been released within 10 months. You don't think they had reasons for that? You feel you have a right to know these reasons? Well, sorry to burst your bubbles, guys, but as long as you're not a share holder, manager, or employee, you are entitled to exactly nothing they don't want you yo know.
Who cares if Max is getting sponsored by Capcom? Does this now mean he is not entitled to his opinion? How many of you guys have no opinion of your own and just echo the sentiments of the guy that pays you? Don't worry, I'll wait...
You want to hate those gems? Be my guest, but do you really think Capcom is gonna take notice if you rehash the same uninformed BS with every post about these gems? Then you are more delusional than I thought.
Constructive criticism is a good thing, whining like spoiled little b!tches... ehm not so much. Then again, many of these whiners were also insisting they have their SSF4 AE, and now that they got it, they whine about the twins and Fei Long.
Mark my words, all this complaining is probably going to lead to another version of SFxT, then you guys will have yet another reason to jump on your soapboxes.
