I kind of like the art style for the characters in the first screenshot. The hud is fugly but I like the characters looking a bit more like sprites despite being 3D.
The other style though, shown in screenshot 2 and the latter half of the post. O GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE AND BURY IT DEEP.
I see two DLC levels ready to ship.
JK.
Seriously though. This is delicious.
TL:DR - Wait ... really?
Anybody else notice the change in health bar styles along the way also removed the stun gauge that was apparently part of the HUD in the very early alpha? Sometimes I wish we still had a stun meter, although we have gotten accustomed to just kind of "knowing" when stun was close.
That ryu mirror screens are beautiful, I wish they went that route.
I really like this post! It is so cool to see this cutting room floor type of stuff.
I'd love to see some more concept art that didn't make the grade. Like the Black Martial Artist that became Ken's Alt costume. That guy was supposed to be Rufus if I remember correctly.
They really need to patch a stun meter in. That way we can keep track instead of guessing and this will help with more accurate stun setups.
Geez!!!! Looking at these screens made me realize even more how much HARD WORK and dedication these guys (and gals) put into these games... Instead of crying about buffs & nerfs we should be giving the Capcom team more props for giving us such a great product....#note Nowherenearacapcomfanboy
Ryu's biceps and triceps... lol, good god. Do people know what glamor muscles are?
Good stuff though, I always love to see these kinds of changes.
GAARGGHH! Having Gief behind Honda is not a nice thing to see. Good to know how much taller is Hawk is to Zangief since their height has been altered from their profile (Gief taller than Sagat). Looks like the reason why Zangief is shorter than Hawk is cos Gief doesn't look as though he has a neck and has shorter stubbier legs than Hawk.
You see, this proves that Capcom NEVER gave a damn about the fan character picks for SSF4. It was already set in stone who they wanted on the games. Just like UMVC3, and then they try to say they care. SMH we are all suckers
#25 I second that, but at least they get the fans involved. I remember there having a big threat on capcom-unity for character requests, Cammy won, but since they planned to have the SSF2 cast return anyway, that was pointless. It's like everyone who voted for Cammy and all of the SSF2 characters wasted their vote.
To be fair, we also asked for MMA, and we got Abel, and we did get great characters with SSFIV (Guy, Ibuki, and Makoto)--I'm not sure if fan buzz didn't have anything to do with that.
ShinShoRyuken and the entire Super cast was already ready?
Morale?
They held back, so we can pay more later.
@ THE_JACKAL_22
we did by funneling all that money in their pockets since sf4 vanilla first came out, and not to mention all the tourneys that were held in its sake. it proved to be a great fighting game with awesome visuals and smooth game-play by exceeding sales and reviving the fighting genre after a decade or so. do you honestly think sf4 would have come so far as it did if it looked anything like Street Fighter EX? thank god it didn't.
@25 Makoto/Ibuki/Guy/Cody/Juri/Hakan/Dudley nor Adon are shown. You can't make that comment. Wikipedia even says that Dee Jay and T-Hawk were planned for SF4 but later dropped so that explains their presence.
See? That took like 2 minutes and you wouldn't have sounded like such an idiot.
That last pic is obviously NOT of the alpha version, is just a screenshot of all the finished characters' models in SSF4. Even the text for the pic says (with a little help from Google) something like "Screenshot of the finished characters". You guys are so quick to jump to conclusions.
If you rip the sound files from the Vanilla game disc...you'll find T.Hawks and Dee Jay's voice folders in the files. They OBVIOUSLY WERE meant to be in the Alpha version...they just didn't get around to finishing or putting in the character models.
And something I noticed in the SSF4 sound files...Guiles folder has sound files for...
"Sonic Maelstrom"
"Sonic Twister"
"Maelstrom Twister"
^ Haha, interesting. Remember when hackers found Dr. Octopus mentioned in some code extracted from the vanilla MvC3 disc? That doesn't mean they had all those characters finished and ready to ship but decided to remove them from the game just to piss people off, though.
Oh, okay. So it was supposed to be more like third strike, but then they thought "hey this game ISN'T a complete piece of sh*t, we need to fix that pronto" and that's how SF4 became what it is today. GG Capcom.
The ones in Chinatown look more like concept sketches than an actual functional game.
Glad they dropped the second one's look(Ryu and Ken's head looked too low), the health bars and super/ultra meters look fine, they should have kept the hanger stage entirely.
Regarding the first one, seeing as it's literally the style we got I don't mind that much but the whole motion blur really was UGH! glad they darkened the whole color platte all together because I'd prrobably turned down the brightness on my TV other wise
Damn it!! I want to try this!!!!
