Im not a big fan of EMP or anything, but you guys can't deny they had an affect on the fighting game community and made it what it is today in some shape or form.
I haven't watched the doc. yet, but they had so many insanely good players that they mustn't have been THAT bad (Hell didn't justin stay with him for what..7 YEARS?). I still give em respect for that at least

@ doublef - I agree what other "division" is EMP known for other than fighting games? If he suspends the fighting game "division" then that pretty much means the entire Empire Arcadia is defunct.
I do not know much about him or his backstory. Watching that movie of Justin starting and leaving from EMP, He just did not sit well with me as a person. I will agree to an extent that he was successful for a bit, but even he had fallen as the video foreshadowed. If what many are saying is true and he was just using these players for their money... Then he truly deserved his fate. There is nothing wrong with having a nine to five job. You are no sucker for having one... You are a sucker on the other hand if you think that you are above the concept of ever having one. I wish luck to all the members of that former group in their new deserving sponsorships if they so choose to do that option. I do not know Triforce as a person but, just something about that glove he wears killed any desire of me ever wanting to lol.

Poor dude. Its not just like his teammates wanted out, its that they were all friends too. I'm not sure when and where Triforce decided to go crazy and make such bad decisions, but it really hurt his team.
Too bad. The most entertaining team to watch IMO is pretty much done. I am excited however to see where everyone lands and what happens from there.

As I said im not much of a fan of Tri at all, but they have in some shape of form made the fighting game community what it is today. He couldn't have been that bad else players would not have stuck with him for so many YEARS.
EMP, Egregiously Mother F'ing Poor. You'd be surprised at how long people can keep the wool pulled over other people's eyes, which is exactly what Triforce did.
I dont know triforce so I cant evaluate him as a person or EMP's daily business but I will say this.
-Even if his intentions were selfish he still helped alot of players hone their skills and he helped some people find a community of maybe life long friends.
-I dont see why another sponsor would insult another person regardless of how they feel that is classless.
-Pride comes before the fall
-The new business set up for the fighting game industry is going to take the joy out of fighters for alot of people.

No one who's been 'friends' with someone for that long ask that question regardless of whether that friend left for bigger and better things. Triforce expected Jwong to be his slave dog for life. Triforce did nothing that any other sponsor couldn't do. It was strictly business.
When you get right down to the core, the word friend doesn't exist in business, it's simply what you can do for the next guy and what you can get in return, vice versa.
This was another way to say "the current EMP fighting team sucks and we need to rebuild." Also, they have another division?!? What other division do they have? Pokemon cards division? WoW division?

They are disbanded because the ARC smelled too strongly of body odor, cheap food, 25 cent potato chips/cheese puffs, and semen. You know, the stuff that is bound to happen when you put 5 dudes together every day for like 10 hours and have them stay over. They will be back once that place gets decontaminated.

Rofl. So ignorant. The FGC needed -actual- sponsors like coL/EG to pick up players to move it forward. It'll be amazing once we start seeing some international names (SK/fNatic, etc.) start picking up the Euro players.
It took forever and people like Triforce were part of the reason it took so gaddamn long. Even if there are more cases like Marn's, it's up to the players not to sell themselves short on contractual agreements.
We don't need "companies" to be selling off placement prizes, such as limited edition sticks on ebay, just to break even on travel expenses (or in some cases, the company's owner's mortgages).
I was never a huge fan of Empire because I just got a bad vibe from the situation (it seemed a bit "cultlike" for lack of a better word), but I only saw the tail end of the group's existence. That said, I do find this sad. This video made that sink. I'm sure there are very good reasons why the "fighting game division of EMP has been suspended," but it's still an uncomfortable end for something that many of America's finest players over the last decade put A LOT of time into.
All there is to do now, I think, is to wish the other teams that are growing in prominence and the individuals affected by the Empire deal the best going forward.

I see what's going on now... It's karma. The reason why Empire Arcadia has managed to stick around for so long is because he brainwashes them. He wasn't running a company like he claimed, he was running a cult. He finds people who are going nowhere in life who love video games and tells them they can be rich and famous just for playing video games. So, he offers them a place to stay (the ARC) and hone their skills so that they can win tournaments and money and get one step closer to superstar status. However, all the money they earned, are given to Triforce in exchange to let them stay at the ARC. Why do you think the members are so good? They have to be good to have a place to live. Keep in mind, this money is meant strictly for rent and electricity, so not only does it not cover food, but they barely get to keep any of the earnings to feed themselves. Triforce has been called out for his shady ways plenty of times and the members defend him to the death (just like what a cult does). Why? Because he picked these guys up from the streets and gave them a roof over their heads. Only problem is, that's all he gave them. No food, no fame, no money, nothing like he promised. Instead, the players had to do everything and establish themselves. If it weren't for the "Mahvel Baybee" videos, do you think Yipes would be really as famous as he is now? Probably not. Another typical cult behavior, watch RawGamePlay's interview with Triforce and notice the part where his members say they'll stick by him to the very end and such.
Also, watch the video where Justin visits the ARC one last time before leaving to California and he brings them food and the members of Empire Arcadia gets ecstatic as if they haven't seen food in forever. It's almost like he was giving away to a homeless shelter or something.
One last thing, you know the SF4 cabinet Justin won in 2009 from the Gamestop tournament? Yeah, he had to sell that for rent, too.
All in all, I don't give a damn how much you've done for the fighting game community, but when you pull crap like that for years, you deserve and had it coming to you.

Now the history of empire acradia it actually started out as more than one division,they had actual people who played more than just fighting games. It was truly universal and all sorts of talented gamers were in it but fgc is what made money so triforce started to exploit that. He neglected his other gamers and tryed to play it off like they meant something too. Then he tried to create a female team which only had 4 good female gamers:one was his (now) ex wife,2 females who were good in fighters,one who was a universal gamer and 1 pc female who he tried many many times to get to sleep with his wife,this is where the c*ck pics come from. The other females were just for show and the 3 who did play he didn't give them any real burn cause 1 didn't give him the play he wanted and the other 2(which are not bad looking if you see them) were not "marketable" (he's actually said this to them)
Then when justin got big in mvc2 he stopped paying attention to akmost the whole empire to focus just on justin and again tried to play like he wasn't.members used to pay dues which triforce used to pay rent,he's had to ask one of his members to stay at their place cause he was homeless and had no where to go.the arc was a sh*tty hole in the wall and guys slept on the floor.
Stupid females beliving the hype would go there and get exploited for their looks and they weren't even that pretty but they were marketed to fan boys and trolls.every female in emp has been hit on by triforce and in some cases he would not let up even after being rejected.
They few guys that stook by triforces side knew him forever and they changed as well,sanford was never that conceded before he joined empire,deminion used to be an avid pokemon dueler and a real nice guy before getting into fighting games,yipes used to play fpcs hard body. Triforce would take anyone who used to be accosiated with empire and call them emp.... depending on whatever name they used if they were in an emp sanctioned tournie.
All emp based tournies were rigged.emp members were at far ends of brackets in order to clean up and battlefields have been in more than one locations cause triforce keeps burning bridges with people who have space to run tournies.
All of what I say is fact and I know because I was a member of one of the original empire teams back when they wore polos and not those cheesey jerseys they have now.
Empires dead and I say about time,maybe some of those guys will be humbled and others can finally get some burn for being good
