SFIII 3S: Akuma combo reset video by PIKACHUAKUMA

PIKACHUAKUMA uploaded a video today displaying some of Akuma's resets in Third Strike. As most of you have figured out, Akuma's play style is very different from SFIV. In 3s his power comes from his deadly resets, his dash, and his hard hitting moves. Akuma isn't so much a vortex character in this game due to the parry system. The video shows most of what can be done after a reset and also displays some stun combos at the end.

I saw some of PIKACHUAKUMA's replays on PSN, he's so sick at this game.

For those who don't know, PIKACHUAKUMA is JR Rodriguez, one of the top (if not the best) 3S Akuma players in America.

You just described SFIV Akuma aside from his dash. His resets are pretty insane, whether it be going for an empty flip grab to super (or ultra if you bait a throw)

If anyone can clear this up for me I'd appreciate it. In third strike if you're reset in the air can you not block/recover on the ground? In this video, JR resets with a jab in the air and then hits a super which doesn't combo but still hits. Is there no way out of this?

You cant block in the air, so to avoid damage after those resets you will have to parry. Parrying the super isnt that hard, but while you're doing that the Akuma player can attack you which will break your parrying and eating some damage

Thanks for clearing that up. I had no clear air resets like this were possible in 3S, that's crazy.

JR really shows the power of demon flip mixups and resets but one thing that bothered me about the intro for this article was that Akuma doesn't rely on the vortex as it were. Its true that Akuma gameplay does not focus on it as much as 4 but he can make solid use of his air fireball in a similar fashion when he has his opponent cornered. 雪男 makes great use of a meaty air fireball for ground mixups when he has his opponents covered. If any new players read these comments, just remember that Akuma isn't all damaging resets and mixup; he has a solid zoning game aswell.
