Next is a clip from Ben537 which mostly has Kazunoko playing Yun, but you also get to see some other fighters share the spotlight.
Footage sent in by Diddysinatra, ThroughSilence, Fawaz, ShippuCakes and Rafael2487.
It seems CAPCOM, in their infinite wisdom, have made a character with bright Red skin and pastel Blue hair one of the best characters in the game, yet they've f'ing nerfed my Makoto. I mean, Hakan looks like a joke yet they've made him that good...?!
I'll drop Street Fighter if it stays the way it is... They better see sense and stop jumping everytime the serial rapist look-a-like - Sabin, and the raving bender - don't drop your soap in the showers - Filipino Champ, open their mouths and start complaining that the game doesn't play like a turtle-fest anymore, so they inundate Ono with Emails of complaint at the inequality of it all.
@4
Are you complaining?, makoto got buffs and nerfs. Makoto was strong in super, she didn't need the catastrophic amount of buffs she got in AE, this is a more "balanced".
Hakan unlike all the other characters, has never been good, no matter how good the player, Hakan hasn't had the spotlight like makoto, thank god this character will be somewhere out of bottom tier.
wow making a gimmicky piece of crap character like hakan amazing. good s**t capcom. at least yun had low health and took a little bit of execution/skill to win with. looks like noah will be picking up hakan and winning evo 2012.
All I gotta say bout that is...
Bible Black.
@5 If you consider the ability to cancel out of her least used 'Target Combo' a buff and the even more bizarre - 'Stand there for 10 minutes charging a Hayate, hoping that your opponent stays rooted to the spot and... oh yeh, he's so mesmerized, your opponent, that he doesn't even block. If you consider them buffs then you must be off your trolley on weed.
You still have to work with Makoto to win, regardless of Vryu putting up all these videos of her doing insane damage. Put Vryu in a tournament setting against all of these high class players from Japan and America, maybe then he wouldn't be saying, in his Swiss accent, "I's don thinks that Makoto is bads now I finks shes still one of ze bests".
The only Makoto's I see in tournaments are Haitani, Shiro, and they're not winning tournaments with Makoto as she is in AE, so... why NERF her?
@7
'at least yun... took a little bit of execution/skill to win with.'

Are the idiots on here actually, legitimately, not-trolling, complaining about HAKAN?
Screw you guys, seriously. You'd complain about anything.
Ok, then WTF did you want in 2012, you got your truck load of buffs, were you expecting some kind of mega buff on all of her s*** moves. Shiro is amazing, so is Vryu, they're going to deal with he changes as much as every other makoto player out there, with practice, i suggest you do the same, and use the buffs to your advantage.
And your wrong, there are 2 makoto's, which have qualified for SBO, i think.

@ krazhy - #13
I can tell, just my reading what you type, that you're some sort of complete and utter retard.
If Shiro or Haitani or any of the other Makoto users who actually appear in tournaments against top-class opposition state that the buffs that they've given to Makoto in 2012 are good, then I'll eat my pants. I wouldn't take Vryu's opinion, as in my eyes, although he is a very good player online, and he's got a true wealth of knowledge about the character, he's not attending any top level tournaments and showing his wares. Last I saw of Vryu was at an English tournament, and he didn't even win that. In his defence, he was playing with SUPER Makoto and not AE Makoto.
And before you engage your necessity to type something, Krazhy, think... Think to yourself, "should I be saying that right now, wouldn't I look like a right, utter C**T?" Well, the answer is of course... Absolutely!
@ #18
Chill, man.
Makoto retained her insane damage/stun output, which really deserved some fine tuning, yet they decided to leave that alone (the fuki nerfs are worthless, she can still antiair/trade for 300+ health and 500 stun which is far more than the whole cast, and in corner combos she'll deal like what, -10 damage?).
It's -50 health, it's not the end of the world. She got her cancellable target and some hitbox buff. Minor stuff, yeah, still acceptable.
And V-Ryu is good, you shouldn't really question his ability.
@15 - fraudsquad2
I've been using her since Super first came out. In fact, I didn't use anybody else and I still don't use anybody else. What complete and utter load of sh*t do you want to type next?
I'd recommend you get with that other fool and live in a cave, in the mountains, away from society. You've got nothing to offer the world but verbal diarrhea.
I mained Makoto in super, and I'll go ahead and say, as long as she's not that garbage again, 50 health and a few pixels on EX karakusa isn't that big a deal.
Still, it really does just feel like a slap in the face. Especially the bogus buffs.
Hakan's looking sick, though. Would've really liked to have seen more out of Gouken, particularly how reliable cl.mp -> cr.fp xx ex palm is now.
This man would go far in the world of Turkish wrestling.
Low tiers finally getting the buffs that they need? Well most of them did. Everyone should be on an even playing field now for the most part.. there will always be those few exceptions.. but balance is about making that number as little as possible.
It is people's nature to complain. No matter what the final changes of AE 2012 become, there will still be a section of the community that will believe that their character has been disadvantaged. I wonder if Capcom's decision to rebalance AE for free was due to the fact that NetherRealms gave away free patches for MK9. Patches cost money to develop and test, so I doubt we'll see another patch after 2012 is released, regardless of complaints.
@19
Don't you think as a Makoto player that I'm aware that Vryu is good. In fact, I'd say he is the best Makoto player I've seen online. Other Makoto players are worthless to watch because they don't provide any insight into the character.
However... I've never seen Vryu up against top class competition, so I wouldn't know how good he is where it actually matters. Namely an offline environment with top, top players.
If he was to win against the likes of Justin Wong and the plethora of other top-class American players or top class Japanese players, then I'd like him even more.
@20
Learn to play or STFU, preferably both, that rant would be embarassing for a pre pubescent school girl never mind a 40yr old overweight basement dweller like yourslf.
@27
Ooh, you really cut me to the bone with that remark. Did you think it up all by yourself? Or did you have Mummy and Daddy help you with it?
@28
Dude; why would your 'mummy and daddy' help me think up witty remarks?!?!?
They already have thier hands full dealing with the 40yr old man child throwing fits in their basement over a videogame.
I don't find your comments 'witty' in the slightest. But in seeing that you do, it only goes to show what sort of pond-life I'm actually dealing with.
Get out of the trailer park that you reside in, make that your mission in life. Do that, and you'll be a winner, son... A winner!
OIL UP BIG TIME!!! Hakan is gonna win dat tournament now!
I'm happy for all the Hakan players out there who perservered with a "joke" character. I hope Hakan is atleast B tier after the update. I've tried playing with Hakan briefly in training mode/trials etc. and he just seemed really 'odd' and I just couldnt get used to him. Looking forward to a day when Hakan gets to a tournament final. I still think he needs a reliable AA.
@#26
He could do that in super before all the buffs.... they called them cisco combos.
@# too all unknowning of hakan
Most of the stuff in the videos hes was able to do already in either super or AE, just that he never gets exposure really outside youtube uploads from someone like wildcat or something.
Only noticeable things was the 2 hit cHP he tried to use a few times and beginning round with what looks to be mk oil. His LK super always ignored physical attacks since day one, and it was always good against yun lunge punches. And it appears his CC has better recovery. But he havent bother really with the improve oil dives in trying to get them to land.
Guessing no one really touched or seen hakan then if everyone is reacting like this. Well either way its a good thing maybe more people will pick him up and give him the time and day to beat some faces in.
@30
Don't you see?! Its all a vicious cycle!
If I follow your advice, I might find myself in your position when I'm your age: sleeping in an oversized baby's cot in my parents basement with only a life sized Makoto pillow to keep me company.
Thanks but no thanks my friend.
Ok, Denjin is better for Gouken, but still they need to fix the recovery and startup on the tatsu At least the startup for the EX).
He needs to combo his fireball from crouching attacks.
And I'd like him to have his proximity HK changed do command normal back+HK to avoid unwanted moves.
Also, his EX flip Kick could be controlable so that he can escape when pinned down.
@18 Yeah lets all ignore V-Ryu's opinion because he is just an online player. Instead we should listen to TonyCorleone who is a no name online and offline.
Makoto barely got touched she is still very good. Now her target combo can be special cancelled one would expect that it would get more use.
@37 I'd like that as well. That close HK is really good for busting up crossups. To afraid to use it though because half the time I get the slow recovering HK poke.
There's a number of characters in the same situation that have good up close normals that would be nice to have as a command normal.
God the Makoto whiners are even worse than the Ibuki, Akuma and Guile whiners here, remember Akumas massive nerf list before SSF4 came out that everybody and their mother whined about? This is merely a single loketest and things can and most likely will change in between this test and the patches release. Just wait till SSFAE2012 comes out and see whether Makoto is just as good as in AE or whether she'll be nerfed SLIGHTLY (and I do mean slightly, a minor health nerf and a few changes to EX moves really shouldn't mean too much). Besides, if you stuck with her in Super you really shouldn't be whining seeing as this incarnation is guaranteed to be better than the Super variant anyways, same with Guile when comparing his 2012 version to his vanilla version.
On the plus side I'm REALLY hoping that these changes make Hakan and Gouken into legimative choices, they've been fairly poor since their introduction into SF4 and so I honestly hope to see them dominating at a few tournaments.
@18
Grow some balls you idiot. Suck up the god damn nerfs, ITS A BLOODY GAME FGS. you act Makoto's your F'in mom. Chill out, get a life, occupy your time with something else if your too upset with your "nerfs", no one needs you here.
And let me guess, i bet you didn't play her in super you just jumped to her cos your a tier loving fag.
XD
I wish they'd give Akuma a remix of his SSF2T or 3rd Strike theme for the 2012 update, rather than that remix of Ryu's he's had since super. Also, the Hakan buffs look intriguing. I did enjoy playing as him every now and then. Is he able to be hit while sliding in the coward crouch?
@49: He has his own theme (which is indeed a remix of his Turbo theme), but for some reason, it's only used when fighting Shin Akuma in Arcade Mode. For everything else, the game is forced to use the theme used when fighting his rival Ryu in Arcade Mode.
Same with Gouken.
@Hakan
almost everything you saw in the vid was possible from Super/AE unbelivable that ppl cry about this; Besides THAT HAKAN PLAYER has a realy good Hakan!! Anybody know his name?
I would love to see Hakan going up some Tiers but i dont think he get higher then mid-tier all ppl crying here just saw a awsome player with a avarage charakter (hopefully!!)
I've played Makoto since when she was "meh" and all these complaints here are buggin me. I'm all for making her a more honest character so the minor nerfs don't bug me all that much.
Hell the fact that Yun has been nerfed makes me want to play him actually. It won't feel so darn bandwagon. (to me at least)
@TonyCorleone
You sound like a total badass mobster in this article. xD
I think a popular opinion is that Makoto is somewhere very close to the top 5 in AE, but it's not like she had as great a showing in tournaments as, say, Viper. I guess too many people just complained about her, so she got hit badly.
My issue with the Makoto nerfs isn't the EX karakusa nerf or the fukiage nerf. I can totally live with those nerfs. The issue I have is the health nerf. She's too unsafe and has no reversal to have below average health. With the buffs other characters are getting, she is going to struggle coping out wins. She didn't need a health nerf or the buffs she got. I would easily trade those buffs for the 50 health in a heartbeat. Capcom can keep the fukiage and EX karakusa. I only used the EX karakus extremely up close anyways. I always thought it had it's super range until just recently lol.
ok either hakan is crazy fcking good or no body knows the hakan match up i think its a little of both but mostly the first thing
Makoto is still a good character so STFU all u makoto whiners
Omg some of you guys are such tools I swear :D, I dont even... Of course they would buff Hakan, WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SEEN AN HAKAN IN AE/SUPER? NEVER, HE WAS PRETTY MUCH A WASTE OF SLOT BAKAS (lol) (Like most characters cause no one picks anyone else) of course they would make him better.
MAKOTO IS STILL AN AMAZING CHARACTER. Man I wish these tier whor-shutyomouth wouldn't just have picked her up in AE so you would see she's still super solid. (Not to mention she won't change much at all..what ex grab range? wow lol)
I'd be happy if all mixup chars were buffed though, and other regular chars would be nerfed : ) would make the game more interesting. @ Goukens Denjin, thats crazy fast o_O, great punish ey?.
VRyu just only good in online play wow some scrubs are just mad stupid btw he contributes tons of stuff over in the Mak boards over in SRK and his only worry is the lost range he is fine with everything else.
why dont they change Hakan completely? people forget that the only joke character in SF history is Dan, and should stay Dan. no one else. Hakan is still a potential character who should be made tournament worthy. im not a Hakan main so my knowledge is limited based on his move set so someone should help me out here.
Hakan:
1)stays oiled during the entire match. only loses his oil if he gets stunned, or activates Ultra 1/2. (let me know if thats a good idea HAKAN MAINS ONLY).
2) to compensate for this so hes not too strong, nerf something in return. maybe a damage nerf off of Ultra? or something. just let me know your feedback. any trolling will be automatically ignored. im serious in my post, so i expect you to be also.
Hakan is powerful when oiled but his weakness is not being able to use oil when pressured. He has a standing sweep with Chun speed and range, his EX slide is as fast as Gouken's new Denjin Hadouken, his normals are cancelable, ultras and super get more damage. I doubt they will nerf all of that to make him a crappy grappler.
If TonyCorleone isn't just a troll trying to get attention, then he may be the biggest cry baby I've seen on Event Hubs, especially since he's crying about nerfs that are not that significant and in no way have hurt Makoto that badly.
I mean my god, how DARE Capcom nerf a top 10 (arguably top 5) AE character??? :P
@63
1) That's not a plausible solution, and one that will never happen anyway. His whole game revolves around getting oiled and maintaining that oiled up state. To remove that is to remove an integral part about his character, because at that point you're simply playing a weird looking grappler that during really specific situations (the ones you mentioned) needs to "power up" again as opposed to a character with a truly unique aspect. Starting the round off oiled is fine, that alone is a major buff that he will definitely benefit from.
What Hakan needs is better defensive options for him to deal with getting rushed down and murdered before he can get anything going. I don't play as Hakan but I have a friend that plays him pretty much exclusively, and his biggest and most consistent issue is the fact that Hakan has really poor defense when dealing with rushdown characters that are in his face right away, and characters with good pressure that prevent him from doing anything. That being said, getting a buff on one of his best command normals (forward+MP) is a step in the right direction.
2) This is more of a general thing than anything directly related to this, but too many people keep asking for less damage on "X" in return for some absurd buff on certain characters. Less damage on one or two things alone in return for something major/absurd isn't a fair trade off, folks.
Hakan was doomed to **** tier with his gimmicks, in high level play....they just don't pay off. lol
Hakan got buffed, but his character design imo is what holds him back. I just wish....we would've gotten Alex/Oro/Urien over him. No one will play him in a tourny because he's too "risky" and no one wants to play him online because of the turtling Ryu and Guile players. Still, I hope he gets some love.
@#14 With pleasure. I've played Gief since before IV and dabbled in Hakan with the release of Super. He's a tough character to play despite all the buffs they've given him.
I would be more than happy to give up the Red Cyclone for Hakan, looks like now is the time. I have a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart after every fight, win or lose. He's pure fun, and a positive fighter too (he doesn't have one negative or condescending win quote).
And to everyone complaining about Hakan, GTFO right now. I bet 99% of you have barely played him beyond completing his trials if that, and that 1% margin is being generous.
It's your time to shine Hakan... Oh wait he already does at the beginning of the round.
Ay...so what if Hakan has buffs? Boohoo, stfu already. Hakan deserves his buffs, maybe he'll get used a lil more so he isn't a waste of a character space. People need to learn to stop being such tier whores...god. While I'm on this note GIVE DAN A JUGGLE j.mp. That will make him GOD TIER
@4 Shut up, no one agrees with you. Typical kid crying when something doesn't go his way.
WOw did I actually see someone complain about Hakan being buffed...wow! First off I think I read in the comments someone said that Hakan didn't need to be changed..that he really wasn't that bad before....second wow! Some people obvious don't play Hakan or don't want him to be a decent character because they just don't want to deal with what they don't understand or they just want to keep another character down so that their character can still be OP against him. Every buff made to Hakan is what should have been from the start period. As far as defense goes....yes I can see why people complain about that aspect of his game but it won't change. Hakan is a bare bones character. Meaning he has the bare bones of classic sf type just like Guile. Guile has a projectile and anti air normals. He is as basic as they come. Hakan is the same way except he has no flash kick and no projectile. Besides Hakan dispatches fb characters very easily but sucks against rush down characters. This what makes him sooo unique than I believe ALL other grapplers in fighting game history. The first grappler that doesn't fail against projectiles yet sucks when someone gets in his grab range.....weird and backwards right?
I for one welcome our new Hakan overlords. :P
But seriously, it's nice to see Hakan getting the buffs he needed. I'm starting to get the impression that Capcom are intentionally over-buffing characters in the last few revisions in order to get them a few months/a year in the spotlight, then release a new revision and nerf them just enough to be balanced. Everybody already plays Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Yun, so they're getting balanced and bottom-tier characters like Hakan, Juri, Evil Ryu and Oni are getting crazy buffs to make them popular. There'll still be plenty of Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Yun players so the increase in Hakan/Juri/Evil Ryu/Oni players will just create lots of diversity, which is what this game REALLY, TRULY needs. next year Capcom will probably release Version 2013, balance out Hakan/Juri/Evil Ryu/Oni, and give T. Hawk/Vega/Gouken/Gen/Dee Jay crazy buffs. Having played a good few ranked matches on 3SOE and facing nothing but Kens, I can honestly say that diversity is the most important thing AE has going for it. Sometimes good characters get overlooked because everyone wants to play the shoto they're familiar with. Sometimes more obscure characters need to be near BROKEN before people will use them. Everyone's so familiar with "hadoken, hadoken, hadoken; shoryuken when they jump" that learning to play a character who has no fireball and no easy reversal needs some persuasion.
That Denjin was crazy fast man i cannot wait to see the potential it has.
