Umm, I don't like these. The art is so expected and the whole stick looks pretty uhh... Idk the word, but it looks bad. Hoping they remake it with better art and a different look because this one doesn't cut it for me.
^ The box does look way cooler.
The stick looks like it's a toy. That red plastic looks as though it were a Fisher Price Fight Stick™ (ages 2–6). Mad Catz has put out some great looking sticks you wouldn't mind having on display, but this is not one of them.
Let's hope that the stick made for SFxTk v.2 will be better.
Still waiting for the UMvC3 stick, too.
*Looks at original TE stick*
And it still looks sexy.
I played with one of these at the recent NYC Unity event, and it felt lighter than my TE. moved around a lot. I'll be keeping my stick. If I need another TE, I'll look for a round 2 or something.
Shout outs to the SFxT Round2 Stick that gets released around the time SFxT gets released
This stick and the MLG stick are ugly. I like the shape on this but the all red face plate is ass. Sorry but whoever the designer is seems to lack taste. I have original TE and the all black one (round 2?) and they're perfect.
I think Capcom thinks because the original TEs sold so well sticks will continue to sell. Pretty much all of the people I play with have 2-4 sticks already. They're not gonna purchase any more. If they want to sell one more it better be goergous and maybe some new feature. Also since 90% of my friends have both systems and 50% have PC they all are looking into multi-platform sticks.
An 8-gate and Sanwa Buttons would make me and my friends FINALLY buy one!
Maybe it's something I'm missing or just dont get...but whats the point of these all these new sticks they keep pumping out besides the art on them? I would think you could save more money just making your own different decals instead of paying $150 a pop every time they make a new one.
This stick and the rest of Madcatz lineup is an abomination to the community. Peer pressure doesn't fool me. I'll stick to my HRAP V3s and actually be able to still use them in 2 years. It's takes 45 minutes of knuckle busting just to mod a TE compared to under 10 minutes of ease with a HRAP V3.
limited because they... dont expect to move that many of them?
id stay with my modded SE for christs sake.
TBH This looks pretty basic lol. At least for design, its pretty bad. The red is taking up to much space, the art on it is nice but the Red is to big and much.
Altho its not liek I havnt seen Daigo rockin' it already but still. Gotta mod it I guess.
OR IF MADCATZ FINALLY CARES ABOUT THE 360 AND GIVES DISCOUNTS FOR THE OLD SF4 STICK D:
Brought to by Fisher-Price! The buttons make farm animal noises when you press them!
@#20 those sticks are a joke, there is no way they are worth that price. You can get a much better stick from http://www.b15sdmdesigns.com or you can get an excellent quanba for less than half the price.
@#51 they are a tad expensive, but much cheaper than those highway robbery giant sword sticks shogun was talking about. They are over $400
Oh and they cost much more than that, its 250 British pounds for a custom case with no components or artwork at all. Expect to pay more if you're from the states. His custom cases are simply beautiful and very original, they are the most gorgeous arcade sticks I've ever seen. They are a much better value than giant sword sticks. But if you want the best bang for your buck then get a quanba :)
Yea I saw that the 250 was just the basic one lol. The prices go up to 400 bucks + shipping so thats kind of crazy for just art though.
They look absolutely crazy, but I can paste some art on my TE. Im to afraid to get anything but them since everyone seems to have TE's lol
Same stick, lame photo design, big price...mah! try focusing on fightpads and create new designs like the Hori fighting commander 3 pro..now that's what i call thinking..geez..Madcatz think the community is stupid and keep dumping this sticks out...oh gawd!
Its possible that the components are now cheaper to diminish production costs for Madcatz. They wont sell sticks as the beginning of the TE era, so it's time to increase the profit margin. A very bad situation, because theres no way to improve those TE sticks. Personally I own a SF4 TE stick, and its the only thing I need, theres no big upgrades to add, maybe changing the colors of the buttons, the 8 way gate, something simple but nothing more.
If the FG community doesnt keep on increasing, TE sticks wont be needed as before, so expect more Fisher Price sticks at $200.
I want to make a custom fightstick, but I don't want it to be too pricy and I suck at soldering, does anyone know a good site?
@54 I lol'd hahahahaaha
@62 you should check the SRK forums...I think some people sell custom cases there. And you can order a "Ctulhu PCB. Everything is solderless (I think).
I guess I'm in the minority, but I like them. I used it at SDCC several times. It is redundant given the wave of TE sticks that have come out over the past 2+ years, but at least this time it's a distinctive design. I don't think the design is that bad either.
@#61 SrAbuguet
THIS THIS THIS! You, sir, are totally correct.
The problem facing the fight stick business as a business is that there's no planned obsolescence. If you bought a Fightstick three years ago, chances are pretty good that it's still working perfectly today. Why on earth would you go and buy a new one? The parts are too damn good!
Does that mean that they should they swap for cheaper parts? Heck no! What they should be doing is looking for ways to improve upon the original design. However, this will require research and development. They could also stand to try doing drastic things with the aesthetic design of the sticks. Also, they need people with decent design sense. Red? C'mon now. Of course people would equate it to Fischer-Price. That bad boy needs to be black or white. I get the feeling that this stick was developed in a vacuum, and it looks like it could have benefited from the feedback of a focus group or something.
For example, one thing that shocks me is that they still haven't thought of integrating padded wrist-rests onto these things! They're not uncomfortable, but they could definitely put some effort into making them more comfortable.
They've done a fabulous job with providing bare-bones essentials. Ultimately, they're gonna have to sexy-it-up a bit.

"For example, one thing that shocks me is that they still haven't thought of integrating padded wrist-rests onto these things! They're not uncomfortable, but they could definitely put some effort into making them more comfortable".
EXACTLY. I've been trying to think about the possibilities of improving the original design. Obviously this implies that a big part of the community will have to change their playin habits. Will they accept this changes and embrace it?
SF and all the suscesive fighting games have relied in the same exact set up since day one. I hope fighting games keep on increasing in quality and quantity, because some company eventually will get to that research and development step, and we will have the real new generation sticks, like that old feelin when changin from the snes controller to the N64 one.
Personally I find these sticks very very ugly. This looks like what their very first and scrapped line looked like.
