GodsGarden #4 details, player list and stream information

SF4Maniac was kind enough to type up the details for GodsGarden #4 for everyone to check out. This is a major SSF4 AE tournament featuring tons of great players from Japan and other regions, including MCZ|Daigo Umehara, Poongko, MCZ|Mago, eLive|RF and EVO 2011 winner, Fuudo.

This tournament will take place on August 20, 2011. Here's a run down of the players participating and the groups they'll be placed in.

Invited Players: MCZ|Daigo Umehara (Yun), eLive|RF (Sagat), Haitani (Makoto), HORI|Sako (Yang), KOK (Fei Long), Uryo (Sakura), MCZ|Tokido (Akuma), Fuudo (Fei Long), YHC-Mochi (Dhalsim), Nemo (Yang), Kazunoko (Yun), EG|Momochi (Yun)

Notable players in the groups:

Group A: Poongko (Seth), Eita (Akuma), Shungoku Neurosis (M. Bison), Joe (C.Viper), Ueto Aya (Chun-Li)

Group B: Mago (Fei Long), Nekosuke (Yun), Kyoku (Yang), Kiryu Tsukimiya (Guy), 1P (Ken), BIGDUNMUL (Makoto), Strip fighter4 (Dan)

Group C: Dogura (M.Bison), Acqua(Yang), Binbinman (Yun), Tetra (Yang), Hanamaruki (Sagat), Hydebuffy (Adon), Kindevu (Evil Ryu)

Group D: Banbaban (Yun), Bonchan (Sagat), NISHIKIN (Blanka)

Group G: Nekojita (Abel), Tonpy (C.Viper), Kim1234 (M. Bison), Nyanshi (Sagat)

Group H: Haneyama (Yang), FAX (Makoto), EG|ChocoBlanka (Blanka), Gassyuku (C.Viper)

Rules

The other players will fight it out to join the 12 invited players for the final.

1st round rule
Round Robin (1 game) top 2 players of each group advance to the next round.

2nd round rule (16 player -> 4 player)
Single elimination tournament (Best of 3 games.)

Schedule and stream

Qualifying league starts — Aug. 20 - 5 p.m. Japan time. (Aug. 20, 1 a.m. PDT / 4 a.m. EDT start time). This tournament will run for approximately 11 hours with a few breaks and other random side events in between.

This tournament will be streamed on uStream starting at midnight PDT August 20, or 3 a.m. EDT. There may be multiple feeds provided.

If I'm not mistaken, the GodsGarden tournament is usually "invite-only" but this time they will accept more players with the requirement that they have to qualify in order to join the invited players.

I hope I can get in there tomorrow, place only holds 100 people and pre-sale tickets are sold out (note to self, don't buy tickets the day before event)... But I'm sure it will be fine.

Same here. I can understand why they invited Fuudo before Mago, since Fuudo has been playing much better at footsies lately. But I can't grasp why they invited KOK before Mago.

I wouldn't say that Dan is anywhere near top-tier, but Dan is actually like a "normal" character in this game.

This is one of the few SF-games in history in which Dan is actually a tournament viable character. In both previous iterations of SF4, Dan just sucked.

Did you know that some people actually want Dan to be nerfed in the AE-2012 edition? These people say that Dan is a "joke character" so he is supposed to suck and doesn't deserve to be a tournament viable character.

So much for all the people talking about "balance"

This list does have some very disappointing no-shows. I was anticipating Gamerbee and Latif to be in this.

Don't get me wrong, I like watching PLAYERJUN52s Ken...but why should they invite him?
All the invited players are prestigious tournament players; PLAYERJUN52 isn't...simple as that.

@34: Sako isn't a PRESTIGIOUS tournament player either, yet he's whooped on all these so called top players. Likewise with Playerjun52. Saying a player shouldn't come since he isn't a tournament player is ridiculous.

Playerjun52 should of been invited based on the fact that he is a good player and the most exciting SSF4 player right now.

Why are people crying about the invites? Top 10 in the public vote were invited and 2 more who won qualifier tournaments. They need to increase their popularity or attend and win a qualifier.

But Sako has won Vampire Savior at SBO in the past and is known as on of the "5 gods" or whatever BS. It's a no-brainer why he was invited.

It does not matter at all, Sako hasn't won any significant tournament in SF4 series. Tournament or not good player should be invited especially the ones who excel, period.
