Capcom took some liberties with implementing Hugo into Street Fighter X Tekken, since he hadn't appeared in a fighting game of theirs in nearly 10 years. But Ibuki on the other hand will play close to how she did in SSF4 AE, Yoshinori Ono told GameSpot in a recent interview. We began our session by sampling Ibuki and Hugo. As we played, Ono revealed that the team at Capcom has two very different approaches for adapting these characters. Hugo, who hasn't appeared in a game in nearly 10 years, probably isn't too well remember by a lot of fans, he said. Therefore, the team has taken some extra liberties in adjusting his character--including new moves utilizing the floor and walls.
Capcom took a more conservative approach to Ibuki's adaptation. Ono revealed that she will play very closely to her Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition incarnation, and that the level of familiarity fans have with a character heavily influences the amount of change that character receives. That being said, he also noted that the team would like to work in a few attacks utilizing her pet raccoon/partner-in-crime.
On the Tekken side of the roster we got our hands on Raven and Kuma. When asked which Street Fighter character Raven played like, Ono chose Cammy and Fei Long--but with more options thanks to his command throws and teleport moves. He also noted that, in this version of the game, Raven is one of the most powerful characters in the game and will be "one to concentrate on in balancing." Kuma was described as a powerhouse character, similar to Hugo. However, the thing Ono was most excited to talk about was its flatulence-based super--a humiliating technique to save for your worst rivals.
Nah, I don't think Capcom took "liberties" with Hugo. He's their character and they can do whatever they like to him/it.
It's stuff that doesn't belong to them, they take "liberties" with >.<
It'll be interesting to see the dynamic between long-range characters like Dhalsim and a character like Hugo in a fighting system like this.
Can't wait to try out my team of Hugo / one of the Tekken characters like Kazuya or Yoshimitsu. Or Raven / Ibuki...!
Anyone already have a team planned?
Kuma will definitely be on my team. Hopefully, Juri will be his partner.
"Kuma was described as a powerhouse character, similar to Hugo. However, the thing Ono was most excited to talk about was its flatulence-based super--a humiliating technique to save for your worst rivals."
So Ono's actually praising Kuma's Bear Fart attack. Then does that mean we'll be able to use it in the final version of game rather than having Ono bow to thee demands of the crybabies who wants the attack to be removed?????
Raven playing like Cammy and Fei long..Both don't have air and ground projectiles and teleports so idk why he said that, but that sounds..alright. I like cammy, but Fei long is the most boring char apart from honda in sf4 lol. (To fight against at least)
I hope raven will be boss <3 unlike in tekken 6. Lets go
But why call out Keits?
Has he "taken" articles from eventhubs before? Are you saying he needs to give credit to Eventhubs for an article that isn't even theirs to begin with?
I mean just because Eventhubs reposted it first does Keits have to either A. Not post it. Or B. Give credit to both EH and the Originator?
That's what I'm asking...
@7
I think Heihachi will be Kuma's official partner. Kuma and Heihachi shared a strong bond in Tekken.
@JasonLee actually if you watch the Shoryuken front page its like Keits trolls the front page here for stories and reposts them there but he never credits eventhubs for anything. Pretty much every couple of hours he hits this website and reposts to SRK. I guess Struggs thinks its an ethical thing I don't know. I check here first because the stories are here first.
Keits did just start doing a news roundup which eventhubs has been doing for years now so maybe he has a point.
Yeah, news rounds ups is strictly an Eventhubs thing... no other site has ever done anything similar...
That's immense sarcasm if you couldn't tell.
Give me a break.
Both SRK and EH both basically steal news from more reputable sites. How often does EH get exclusive content? Barely ever.
It's a joke to consider it a problem when two news sites post the same thing.
SRK has become a news/blog site and EH has pretty much been one from the getgo. Same with IPW. But that's all front page stuff anyways. There's plenty of news to go around and of course there will be overlap, so who the f@ck cares? Not even sure what that snide remark about Keits was for anyways? What did he do to you? Shoot a cuckold porn with your girl? Kidding.
Anyways if the leaked list is somewhat true my team will comprise of bison, kazuya, Bryan fury, jin, steve and Rolento
Then you are pretty naive if you think EH holds the "rights" to content that isn't theirs to begin with.
I can understand if it's exclusive info but it's not. EH has no say in these stories. They deserve no credit for them.
There is only so much SF news posted and like SHOGUN said naturally their will be overlap.
I'm certain EH has "stolen" a story from SRK front page on occasion. And by stolen I mean happened to post it at a later date than SRK did.
No, I don't deserve any credit for a video I didn't create.
How hard is it to check the game websites and official games conferences for videos?
You hardly did anything. That's why there is usually like ten people listed as submitting the story. It requires virtually no work and will be seen with or with out the persons help anyway.
@Struggs
Are you retarded? SRK doesn't "steal" from eventhubs, they get the same tips as EH does, and then posts accordingly. SRK has always given credit to the people who submitted the tip, why should they credit eventhubs, if someone tipped them off about it first? Either way, neither site are the ones who found the article (usually), and get their news from users who spot it, then email the sites about it. You are acting like Eventhubs is out there, getting these interviews, making these videos etc. and SRK is just reposting them, claiming them as their own. I honestly don't think I've ever encountered someone as stupid as yourself before. Rofl.
I'm not sure why people find the farting thing so absurd.
SF is and always has been goofy as hell. This only goes with the flow of what this series has been for decades.
Why would you have a problem with a move directly from a Tekken game? You do realize this is a crossover right? And if you do why don't you have a problem with a Giant fighting bear with a bandana around it's neck?
Or a green monster that has electric powers... Or an Indian Man that blows fire and stretches.
It just makes no sense.
Taking news from a site is a lot easier than tracking it down yourself. It's obvious you have no idea what it's like running a blog or your own site, I used to do my own but it ended up being too much work keeping it updated and doing it all the time. It would have been a lot easier if I could have just ripped it from someone's site and posted it as my own but I didn't do that.
You don't want to understand this or want to put yourself in the shoes of someone who does the foot work to get this stuff done and that's fine. Stay ignorant... it fits you.
But you are completely wrong...
"it's a lot easier if I could have Just ripped it from soneone's site and posted it as my own"
That's exactly what Eventhubs does. That's the entire point of the site.
Do you not understand this?
They give credit to the original creators. Just like SRK does or IPW.
No other citation is necessary.
I guess you're too ignorant to see the point. That's why Eventhubs has a bunch of people listed at the end of the stories on here. They realize the value of having people tip them off on these stories. So does SRK and IPW too because both of those sites have a place where you can email in tips to them. So do most news sites that cover video games.
Of course your point is there's no value in that. That's why most sites that cover games have a place you can submit tips to. Because it's pointless and doesn't help? Sure... every site wants to be on the bandwagon of doing things that don't help and are pointless. Like I said before you don't know what you're talking about. You've never ran a site before nor do you care about the details of running one.
Struggs... with his intimate knowledge of running a pointless Blog that every person on the planet does... Man WHAT EXPERIENCE.
I surely have no idea what I'm talking about. I couldn't possibly run a blog either. Especially one that creates almost zero new content but rather culls it from other sources.
Tips are fine Struggs. It's not pointless to want to provide a favored site of yours some info.
The problem is you singled out Keits and made it seem like he regularly steals content from Eventhubs.
Not only is this content not Eventhubs to begin with you have no evidence that he even visited Eventhubs prior to it being on the site.
Just because EH posted it at an earlier time than Keits doesn't make it suddenly property of EH.
You give credit to creators. If you wan't to be nice you can give credit to someone that tipped you to the story...(Both EH and SRK do this btw) But to think just because one site posted an article that isn't theirs first... that they should be given credit is lunacy. It's straight up nuts.
As GreyGhost said... This very article was posted at IPW before it was here.
Did Eventhub give them credit? No you say? Why aren't you mad about that?
Oh, that's right... It's because you are full of crap.
So Ono likes to smell bear farts huh? Ono must watch alot of bizarre Japanese porn in his spare time.
It doesn't look like they took many liberties with Hugo in terms of specials... he still has his running lariat, palm bomber, ultra throw, backbreaker, moonsault press and meat squasher. Normals on the other hand... I don't remember him having a jumping body slam like Zangief. If I'm honest, it's looking like Zangief's not in the game. Capcom already said they had revealed about half of the characters already, and that was before they announced Hugo, Raven, Ibuki and Kuma.
Jason. You continue to prove you don't know what you're talking about. Here's IPW's post:
http://iplaywinner.com/news/2011/8/18...
Here's Eventhubs post about the same video:
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/au...
Eventhubs posted it about 12 hours before IPW did. Seriously you can't even get this right? You don't even bother checking the date and time?
OK you've proven to me you can't even tell what day and time it is. I guess the point I'm making is far beyond what your brain is capable of. I'm done trying to explain it to you, if you can't even read the day and time I don't even know how you manage to type on a keyboard.
Hey Struggs
JasonLee is right. Also, no one really gives a sh*t about who posts it, at least I don't.
@34
Nice logic there buddy. What a way to show off your competence at being able to distinguish the difference between video-game and real life.
I'm pretty sure that Ono spends his time smelling bear farts in real life just like how all the Ryu players throws hadokens at people in real life as well.
@Kamui
I WANT to say that I got a team, but every time someone new comes out, I wanna add them to my team!!!!
Right now I'm planning on Bison (When he's announced. HE BETTAR!!!)And Yoshimitsu or Kazuya. PRetty soon though, It's going to be hihatchi too :/
"The farting thing is just really stupid. I hope it's removed. I don't know too many people over the age of 15 who will find it all that funny. Maybe the first time, but a year after?"
Yeah they should change it a year after release to keep it fresh. Which reminds me how dare capcom reuse supers for the SF cast why would they keep using a characters signature powerful move in another game where they appear? As all super serious players agree because I said so the only thing that matters is that games be 200% serious especially when they are followups to games that were not super serious before. Kuma's super is obviously in the game to be a joke and make people laugh not be his signature strongest move and do damage.
How can people really think like that? You go to such a length to make something sound childish you sacrifice all logic and belief that other people have differing opinions. Kind of like a child. Hate on haters.
@43
It's usually people who just play SF. I just play SF but I'm pretty open minded. I myself wonder what their beef is. It's not that bad.
It still doesn't matter who's mentioned it first, it's Gamespot's articles ... It's not like EH, IPW or SRK can take proprietary ownership of the content because whichever mentions it first ... The whole argument is childish in a "I told you first !" kind of way ...
@ Struggs - you're reaching man, sorry. EH and SRK are more blog-like than anything else and are re-posting news from another source to begin with. They can credit those that tip them to it in their community if that's the case, but they are not obligated to tip another source just because they happened to post it within a short time frame.
Not that it's even an issue since it's not their article to begin with.
But that begs the question, again: why are you singling out Keits? Blogs do that all the time, it's not unusual.
They credit the creator of the article, not the person who most recently found the article.
@ Fart haters... I have to agree with JasonLee on this:
"Why would you have a problem with a move directly from a Tekken game? You do realize this is a crossover right? And if you do why don't you have a problem with a Giant fighting bear with a bandana around it's neck?
Or a green monster that has electric powers... Or an Indian Man that blows fire and stretches.
It just makes no sense."
interesting stuff... it's sad to hear raven will be so powerful in some ways, despite me liking him. all i know is that Kaz better be "solid as a rock" in the game. i'm tired of my favorites just happening to be on the short end of the stick.
if they put Vega in (DOOOO IIIIITTTTTT) they better not dump on him even more or even equal to the the level that they have in the SF4 series
To hell with all the Fart Haters, Street fighter has lots of funny stuff too. People always find something to complain about. Go relax and release a fart somewhere. (far away from your loved ones of course)
"she will play very closely to her Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition incarnation, and that the level of familiarity fans have with a character heavily influences the amount of change that character receives."
Wow...
You know who else looks and feels like this: the rest of the SF cast! (Aside from Hugo and Poison)
God I'm tired of this cop-out feel from Capcom on the SF cast. Again, call it SFIV vs. Tekken.
I'm still very interested in this game,and I'm sure some more non-SFIV characters will make it, and I'm more than lekely still going to buy it and all...but still: sooooooo much of a SFIV influence is here...it's just doesn't feel like it's taking all influences of the SF universe.
@ Catalyst.
"We began our session by sampling Ibuki and Hugo. As we played, Ono revealed that the team at Capcom has two very different approaches for adapting these characters. Hugo, who hasn't appeared in a game in nearly 10 years, probably isn't too well remember ..."
Not sure if it was an error copying & pasting from the original, but it should be "remembered", obviously.
Anyway, nice to see Hugo getting some love, Ibuki as well.
She's always been in my opinion one of Capcom's unique characters that has been more or less ignored in other Street Fighter or spin-off series.
@Struggs
Are you serious? You are reaching as far as you can with this one. You chose to try and insult a guy for mentioning what someone else said, and you go on some tangent about being unable to read a date? Wow, you are a complete f*cking dumbass. Seriously, just go kill yourself because you are f*cking nuts. You seriously think that EH, or SRK, or any other site that reposted a news story, deserves credit, because they happened to update their site with that copied news story/video first? They did not create it, they reposted it. If SRK said "Thanks to tooitchy for the tip, and thanks to eventhubs for also recieving a tip about this, and updating their site before we could, and thanks to GameSpot for actually having this article/interview/video for us to repost" would that make you happy?
You are singling out Keits for doing exactly what every other gaming news collab site does. They get tips about newsworthy front page items, and then post them. None of them are creating these front page items (except in the case that SRK gets an interview, or podcast, etc. or EH has EH related news) so why should they have to give credit to another website just because they also reposted the same news story? Your logic is so flawed that I feel like a maniac trying to explain how wrong you are...
@57
Stop spamming your stupid pointless videos everywhere. I watched your stupid video, what was so butthurt, or tard about him? Ya, he wasn't very good, but neither were you. It's not like he did anything to deserve the hate you're giving him, or spamming the video everywhere.
Hugo appeared in the final fight games as andore family
Street fighter alpha 2 & 3 as a background character.
he was unfinished in street fighter 3 new generation
and was in both Second impact and third strike
Svc Chaos and those stupid card games.
i wanna see Hugo Vs Zangief.
"However, the thing Ono was most excited to talk about was its flatulence-based super--a humiliating technique to save for your worst rivals."
I'm not in full support of the fart attack generally speaking, but I understand it's part of Kuma, his character and history. I'd say leave it in, but please change the animation. Does the victim really have to hold onto Kuma's ass like that, and for so long? Maybe I have a grotesque mind, but it looks like bestiality to me. In the clip shown, it seriously looks like Guile is eating out Kuma's ass.
Just saying...
UltraDavid would be a proper person to talk to about any type of "copying" issue I'm sure. :)
Anyway, EH isn't a content creator in general. If it was, then no one could use the content, regardless of whether it was the internet or not.
EH is a network that pulls in information from all over the web on fighting games. The only necessary element is that the creator of the content be given credit and be asked if their content can be used in the first place, and the creator always has final word on what can and can't be used.
EH's goal is to be easily findable and as such, gets content out there that would otherwise be invisible by lesser known people.
Nice story. This will be copied over to SRK by Keits in 5 4 3 2 1...
But Hugo needed some changes from 3S especially without parrying. More stuff to get him inside and more stuff to do when he's inside like slamming people off the walls is good.
