Unless you're living oversees, or plan on traveling there, you won't be able to take advantage of this information, but reports should be hitting the internet later this month with more information about what Capcom has added and taken away from SSF4 AE.
Also, we were previously told that the free balance patch would be released some time in the fall or winter time, so this helps give some context to when we might see the update.
If you'd like to talk with other EventHubs forum members about potential changes, hit this thread. We'll be sending it to Capcom, so it's a good spot to leave your feedback.
Good that its free, but WTF Capcom. I just started playing AE and its gonna change again? Might as well wait until 2012 to play Street Fighter and by that time I won't care because SFXT will be right around the corner.
I hope that they don't screw this up, and I hope that they don't make any of my characters godlike so that my opponent feels like they have an excuse when they lose - other than their own ineptitude.
The PC version of SSF4AE does not have lighting for the energy or projectile based attacks in the game,

Since there is gonna be yet another gameplay change to the game I decided to go trophy hunting and go for the C to shining C trophy. But honestly I wished Capcom would've left most of the roster untouched and only buffed struggling characters and left it at that. Right now I really don't want to invest serious character time in the game since there is a chance of a very drastic change occurring again like what happen going to Ae hopefully they do a good job with this patch.
Make it closer to Super and Nerfed Fei long, Yun, Yang, and Sagat. They do tons of damage.
Extend Ryus middle kick and bring back his air tatsu..
Lessens kens Shoryuken damage its crazy...
Makotos hayate or Dash Punch is way to fast..
Make evil Ryus teleport faster
it will be great if we could cancel any move with it..
like the Boss version..(¬_¬)
I guess were to blame to this. we did ask for arcade edition even it was intended only for the arcades oh well...
Goodluck Capcom (^_^)
most were really asking to buff the low tiers instead we got nerfs :(
take it back to ssf4 balance and work from there(ie improve the cast so more characters are tournament vaiable)
could careless what they do now, im done with this series. getting pretty freaking boring trying to enjoy the characters i like. I dont even care about the twins/fei or whatever people are complaining about. Dont think there is any saving this game with simple patches, needs to be revamped.
Personally i would like to see the way stun works in this game changed. More often than not when you do get a stun off, you next combo or w/e does crap damage... the person is defenseless while stunned for crying out loud, reset the damned scaling or something.... wow the reward of doing a combo of choice, only for it to probably do less damage than a clean HP. Also bad enough how fast the stun meter depletes.
buff low tier..
I agree with #19. And for the love of F**K add a stage select in training mode. I'm growing quite tired of that Bally's total fitness song on the training stage.
Dear Capcom, Listen to your audience.
Apparently AE was WORKING AS INTENDED. I hope the intend to revive this series and rid the cancer that is Yun and any AE residue that may remain.
I agree with buffing low tiers.
I have a feeling they won`t ADD anything as this is just a rebalance so even after this version comes out, I think it`ll be too little too late.
Give Gouki more health or his roundhouse loop back for large characters. That's all I ask.
Just buff characters that need it. Plugging in my Gen buff hopes. He is still a solid character IMO but there is something that doesn't make him viable or easily grasped He is dangerous with meter but his meter gain is nowhere near the other characters. He already has disadvantaged because of his health and stun.
@#20
worked like that in many other fighters that had stun for the most part. The reward for actually getting a stun off. Sf2 games had it, sf3 series had it, sf4 doesnt O_O. I just find it pretty crappy(as i said) that you finally get a chance to do a combo of choice and chances are you do very little damage to someone that is defenseless.
And yes now that you mention it that second combo for the kill would be lovely if i manage to stun someone as such to do so. Would prevent a silly comeback with ultras combo set ups that are capable of doing near 50% life for the person getting their butt kicked, which they didnt earn imo.
People can come back with 2-3 combos(which you probably think it fine, im not gonna throw words in your mouth tho). why cant i them down with 2-4 combos? oh yea because the way stun works against the aggressor constantly finding openings.
I'm getting depressed already knowing that the Gen changes and fixes that are so desperately needed will probably not be made. Still waiting on that landing frame stance change glitch from Vanilla. And that 250% counterhit damage against Gen's Crane C.HP, that's just plain BS. And everything really, I know the other Gen players (all six of them) don't like me being negative but Gen is trash even with the AE buffs (all two of them). Squeaky wheel gets the grease, so I'm going to start kicking my complaints into overdrive in a futile attempt to get Capcom to notice.
So everyone for the most part agrees on increaseing the lower tiered characters. But now the question is what makes a low tier character? I feel it would be too easy for capcom to just dig in to the 3 years of tournament data and see who was dominate, tournament vaiable and totally worthless. The biggest mistake capcom could make is balanceing the game for casuals, USE THE DATA.
@27
i never understand why gen doesnt have his chains from alpha. Its almost like they want him to suck.
I know it's a Re-Tune... But I'm not going to shut up anyway.
Please Add Alex. Make him Free with the patch or Paid DLC, I don't care. Just Add ALEX!
And patch in some effin way to explain the loose ends with the story! I don't want to wait till NEVER to find out who that kid was that Balrog took from the lab!
I know these aren't Re-Balance requests, but personally I could give two $hits less about a Re-Balance. I'm having Mega Fun with AE. Me and Chun have been Whoopin Twin/Fei a$$ since release!
I'd rather get more content. It's a shame that the SF4 team has returned and this is what they're working on:(
@30
thats why i dont want them to listen to the fans.
Capcom USE THE DATA. U know whos wining tournaments and who isnt even placeing and u have years of character data to understand wat a character needs to compete.
Please Capcom, fix Cammy's roundhouse spiral arrow. I don't care about the TKCS at all, infact I like the new Cammy, except for her new roundhouse spiral arrow. It either randomly does two hits or you have to be like 1 cm away from the opponent for it to do two hits. And it randomly does armor break as well. She also can't do much to people who use focus attack without the two hits on roundhouse spiral arrow so please just put it back to how it was in SSF4.
Yes I know posting here won't get Capcom to see it, just voicing my complaint.
- Add block sounds back in from the arcade version of SFIV vanilla
- Fireball impact sounds back in from the arcade version of SFIV vanilla
- Add flame impact sounds back in from the arcade version of SFIV vanilla
- If players in endless = 2, add an option to rematch
- Permit endless lobbies to be defined as a joinable match in arcade mode
- Make the counter-hit notification much larger and consider adding an audio tone for when a couterhit is actually landed
- Option to use the original vanilla IV announcer's voice (ala JP and EN character voice options)
- Add a true effects/music OFF option
- Tone down Yun, Yang and Fei. Might want to have a closer look at Makoto's damage output also.
- Reduce active frames on Seth's j.hk and command j.hk
- Reduce invuln frames on Seth's uppercuts
- It would be nice for Akuma to have an incentive to FADC a lp dp into a hp redball again.
- It would be nice if Akuma's far standing heavy kick could combo (reliably) again after a FADC fireball. No loop permitted, but just make the fs.hk combos possible again. Scaling kicks in making them by no means damaging - this is purely for fun and aesthetics.
- Option for OFFLINE demo recording
- Tournament mode support OFFLINE
- Team mode support OFFLINE
I honestly feel the character balance outside of Yun, Yang and Fei Long is actually pretty good. I'm also hesitant to point a finger at Yang to be honest, though I have seen him make a mess with his confirmed pokes into rekkas combined with his particularly nasty s.lp.
But for the love of Satan, quit nerfing characters. Tone down the ridiculous ones, of which you have maybe 2 or 3. Outside of that, I feel very little else is needed by way of major balance work unless you were to get particularly picky about specific matchups. The problem there is that tiny tweaks tend to have run-on effects all over the place though.
@37
the counter hit sound and the annoucer options sound doable. BUt as far as balance goes there are still too many characters that arent useable at a tournament level to leave balance alone.
@Gamogo: "- Option to use the original vanilla IV announcer's voice (ala JP and EN character voice options)"
But they don't have recordings of him speaking many of the required character names and so forth.
I liked his announcing, too, but apparently they couldn't find him (!) when it was time to record new work for Super SFIV, and so they went with someone else.
@38
You may want the low tiers fixed, but some of us would argue that they've never been better!
At least 85% of the "low tiers" (excluding a few like Vega) received major buffs for AE! I.E. Hakan, Makoto, Guy, Seth etc etc etc.
While the "top tiers" got nerfed! I.E. Bison, Balrog, Honda, Ryu, Chun Li etc etc etc.
The Balance has NEVER been closer! Low tiers are stronger than they've ever been in the 4 series!
And as far as "S tier" goes? Every version has had them.
Vanilla: Sagat, Ryu, Rufus
Super: Guile, Bison, Honda, Chun
AE: Fei, Yun, Yang. And Yang is iffy if you ask me.
I would argue that the AE high tiers are WEAKER than either previous version!
So why the need for a Re-Balance? What's different this time you ask? The Community! The crying a$$ community. Running wild because Ono said "We added strong characters". Wow, the games always had strong characters.
This "make my character viable" crap is a joke!
@41
U say major buffs? Well i dont see hakan placeing anywhere and other characters got unnessary nerfs(abel,cammy etc).
Also those "s" tiers for super didnt hold any water. Those characters that u listed were NOT placeing anywhere. Thats why i say, USE THE TOURNAMENT DATA, tier lists dont mean anything. WHen ur S tier beats the lower half of the tier list but suffers vs high tier u DONT have a S tier character.
the proof is in the pudding, u have world wide tournament results and when u have characters that arent represented at all u know u have a problem.
@41
Then I guess Seth and Viper must be up for some nerfs. And they can buff Yang also because even J.Wong can't place in a tournament with him.
Also, buff Yun. Because only ONE person in the WORLD is winning anything with him!
Right?
What do you think these low tiers should be doing? Flying around the screen like Phoenix? Makoto received enough buffs to basically make her a new character! Hakan can Stack Oil, and his normals have MORE priority than Chun Li for gods sake!
Those are just two examples of low tier buffs. Each character is supposed to be unique! They're not all supposed to be the same!
After they mess with the balance again you don't think three or four new "Top Tiers" are going to move up to the top?
Thank F$*k none of you lot are in charge of the changes ha
The fact that they are not focusing on more characters or features. Capcom and Ono's design team have absolutly NO EXCUSES for lacking in rebalancing this game to near perfection. It's really hard to see them screw this up at all so I remain hopeful. They have more than enough field data and information now to go about the necessary changes.
This could easily cause some upsets. To avoid this:
1. Stick to subtle, not drastic, changes.
2. Don't withdraw any BUFFS that anyone got from super to AE.
3. Don't drastically alter anyone's playstyle.
4. Don't revert the abolition or alteration of "spammy" moves or moves that have potential to score high damage from randomness from super to AE, like tkcs, fuerte's tostada press, Honda's damage, etc. In fact, keep going in that vein so that all characters are forced to rely on all of their toolset (without making them suck of course). AE got rid of or discouraged using cheesy (not necessarily meaning overpowered) "go-to" moves that were causing a lot of other moves of the character to be outclassed and ignored.
@30 Welcome to the version 2012 character select screen.
http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/35...
Yes, I know its not the real thing, but its what I believe you can expect Capcom to do to it for v2012
@35: I think the arrow's range is strange, but I guess it's to force you to be intelligent and knowledgable about character specific combos and spacing and figure out what the best damage is.
What I WOULD like to see is for 100 damage to be on the first hit of the arrow, so that fadc'ing off of it is worth it again! Hmm, that would make the latter hit do only 20 from afar... maybe give it a third hitbox that hits very late that does full damage (since if you get hit from that range you deserve to take the full damage anyway)?
PLEASE CAPCOM ALL I ASK FOR IS FOR YOU TO BRING CHAMPIONSHIP MODE BACK, CHAMPIONSHIP MODE TAKES SKILL IF YOU WANT TO BE IN A HIGH GRADE, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE CAPCOM BRING CHAMPIONSHIP MODE BACK EVERY1 WHO AGREES WITH ME LEAVE A COMMENT ON THE POST THATS GETTING SENT TO CAPCOM. BRING CHAMPIONSHIP MODE BACK!!!!!!
Looking forward to Hakan changes.
Make him OP please, make his SPD range go full screen when oiled. :}
-Give him super armor on his Ex. SPD. For no reason, just do it.
-Give him like 10 invincible frames on his Ex. Oil Slide.
--Make it faster also.
-Give his Oil Dive a bigger hitbox and more active frames.
-Make his Guard Position last longer when held down.
--Take away some active frames also.
Also make button mapping better, I would like to be able to map "Down" on my top 3 Normal Buttons on my joystick. I would not mind sacrificing 3 normal attack buttons to be able to use his U2 more efficiently.
Capcom<3
This is getting ridiculous. Capcom isn't giving the fighting game community enough time to deal with "high tier" characters. No matter what changes are made, there WILL be complaints. Not even a year has passed since AE was released. The same goes for MvC3. It's no longer exciting when some type of update is announced.
just add some nerfs to yun and fei and thats all, the rest of the cast is ok
And just add some buffs in characters like hakan, t.hawk, dan, I could say vega but even when he was nerfed from super the super high tiers nerfs help him in this game, and those "unnecessary nerf" like honda, guile, abel or cammy ( even when she got many buffs)are the thing that 70% have better chance against them not really the buffs low tier characters receive.
Again just nerf fei and yun and buff those low tier characters the rest is ok well maybe some minor buffs to ken, yang and I really dont know if viper but anyway
Guile called, he wants his nuts back, or at least one of them.
Thanks.
Some of you guys are complete morons. There's always going to be high tier characters that's just the way it is. All 2012 edition is going to do is give you guys a new set of high tier characters to cry about.
I can see it now, Capcom you idiots Vega, Gen, and Hakan are too good! If anything the rebalanceing should just bring Yun and Fei down to the rest of the cast. And hey since were only basing tiers off tournament results now (which makes no sense considering the majority of players don't participate in tournaments) I guess Viper is in need of nerfs as well.
I recently picked up Guile and even though I don't know how to play him yet, I'm stilling winning the majority of my matches. He needs his damage back on air throw/ultra/meter gain on boom, then he'll be perfect.
Want Gief's kd on EX hand back. >_>
Some characters need subtle nerfs, but the focus should be on helping characters in their bad match-ups. Too many times Capcom makes drastic changes and it either makes someone OP or doesn't help someone at all.
I've seen gameplay videos of various SF games. SF4 will never have 1 - 2 combo kills, it's designed to be user-friendly to new players.
Buff CHARGE characters, look at EVO, not ONE charger in the top 25. Who knows how far down the BEST charger was(probably a Bison)
What I don't understand is why they had to touch the SSF4 balance - that game had some of the best balancing in a Capcom game. What they should have done is mould the few new AE characters to fit the SSF4 balance, not messed around with it so that things are deliberately UNBALANCED. Will be interesting to see what v2012 brings to the table.
@62
thats all they needed to do. Go back to ssf4 specs and then change from there. Which would be alot of buffs/characters staying untouched(only characters that would get nerfs would prob be the twins). Look at the tournament results and just see how places and who is unused.
@66
You are a Mental case. Just keep saying the same thing over and over and over dude.
"Based on Tournament results"? Then forget the characters... Just go cut off Daigo and Mago's fingers. It's the PLAYER not the CHARACTER!!!
@Everyone
AE has better Balance than SSF4. Anyone who can't see that by a Match up by Match up basis is blind.
I hope Capcom doesn't listen to any of you. These insane requests will ruin the game.
Vanilla: Daigo wins with Ryu. Community begs for Nerfs. Then begs for him to be put back to normal!
Super: Daigo wins Canada Cup with Guile. Community begs for Nerfs. Then begs for him to be put back to normal! Community still hating on Ryu!
AE: Daigo CANNOT win EVO with Yun! But Yun is Super Broken Right? Community Begs for Yun nerfs, and begs for Guile and Ryu nerfs to be changed back?!?
What the Fu<k is wrong with you people!?!
@67
Tournament results gives u a good cross section to see what characters are being used/ignored and gives u a hint at what needs againsting. It doesnt matter if one man dominates with a character but it matter when u go through 20 tournaments and the top 8 or 25 are the same 5 characters.
You know this isnt even a debate. Ono said the game was made unbalanced on purpose. So ur just a moron to think that this game is more balanced.
Thanks for playing.
@68
Why do u think i say u need more data from tournaments. U cant change cause of one man.
Hey Fool.
Everyone complains about EVERY character he uses! You don't see a pattern here?
Everyone copies him! Then they complain that his characters are OP regarless of the LIMITED success the REST of the community has using them!
Guess what Chicken, Michael Jordan made the shoes, the shoes didn't make Michael. Get it! If you don't, I'll explain it!
Daigo makes the character Great! Not the other way around. Same goes for Mago, Gamerbee, Tokido, Latif, Poongko, Fuudo and 100+ other pro's! Plus, it's very likely that these guys would be making top 8 regarless of who they main!
You can Beg Capcom to "Make your character viable" until the cows come home. But until YOU "become viable" it's not going to help you!
Your going to have to learn that not everything is supposed to be Equal! Some characters take more work than others!
@73
like i said, Ono himself said the game was made unbalance. What dont u understand?
Ur starting to lose it. Why dont u go get some air?
Ca$hcom logic.
"1/10 people are using that character?"
"Let's make it ZERO!"
Now you've proven my point. Rather than base your opinion on what's actually happening in the game, you've joined in on the mass hysteria caused by Ono San's comment.
Read my words boy:
Vanilla and Super were the SAME if not WORSE! he just didn't say it that time!
Wake up you little DRONE!
Please NERF Makoto's damage , And Nerf Ultra 1 of Viper after a combo , much damage ,
I will be going to the test location at Big Box. I will let you guys and gals know in detail what's up.
Ryu:
1.Return SSF4 cr.mk (very important)
2.1 Hit DP for Med/Heavy (optional)
3.Original SP Damage from SSF4 (important)
4.leave air tatsu the way it is, ryu is not a run away character. if your cornered then its your own fault.
5.super trap from vanilla (optional)
6.ex tatsu invulnerable to grabs (important)
7.since your able to link srk after st.HK, nerf st.HK damage to 150 (important)
as far as game goes
1. have a rematch option for 1v1
2. have the ability to hit your opponent after ko
3.have karate kid theme playing on training mode :D (youre the best) lol
At least, in this comunity, there are people who actually are being intelligent:
@76
"Vanilla and Super were the SAME if not WORSE! he just didn't say it that time!"
This is the problem with the people, they want attention, so they will cry and whine and wait for the patch, because skills are never important, the only thing that matters is the char, you put the char in automatic mode and he wins - LOL
Ono never stated that any of the SF series was balanced. SF4 was the only game that took such time to be rebalanced, it was 6 months in arcades, came in february 2009, and SSF4 only make it in april 2010, they rebalanced the game, humm, 22 months. When AE came to arcades, it was almost 8 months after SSF4 and it was rebalanced again, which only means that SSF4 didn´t have the right balance. AE came to consoles, and after at least 11-12 months since AE came, it will the patched again, because the game needs another rebalancing.
See the pattern? SF3S - online Edition, UMvC3 and what? AE is the only without refresh? No, then they do the patch, because AE need also to keep the hype, already stated by Ono, he wants people to continuing play their game and this initiative is welcome, this is why i don´t care about the patch, they can nerf my main´s, this will always happen because the majority of the comunnity don´t want to learn the game, they want they char to be top tier and they are very skilled in the art of whining and crying.
This is exciting news. Can't wait to open the 'balance' dialogue once again.
