Answering more questions on the Capcom Forums, Christian Svensson and Seth Killian talked about some of the options in SF3 Online Edition, GGPO, a PC release of Third Strike, if Jill and Shuma-Gorath will ever be made free and subjects of this nature. Is Gill playable, in any form, on online modes? — Matt
Svensson: Gill can still be played in player matches/spectator rooms that do not have him flagged as a banned character.
How do I let Capcom know GGPO is important to me and should be in future fighting games? — Karsticles
Seth Killian: Hi guys,
Apologies for being slow with my Unity family -- I have a lot of balls to juggle these days (ha!) and while I'm on the site every single day, I don't always find as many chances to respond.
Anyway, I usually channel most of what I'm hearing consistently around here to the producers, so you're already on top of that. As for GGPO, as you've seen it's important to us as well, and it's shown up in products from the Western side recently. There are two reasons for that:
1) While both groups are committed to great online, GGPO in particular as a solution has been a big favorite in the West particularly.
2) GGPO has been implemented in our new releases of sprite-based games, like Final Fight and SF3:OE. While I believe it can be implemented in more processor resource-intensive newer games like the SF series and MVC series, there is no question it's far more simple to implement on the older sprite-based titles.
That means it's kind of a 2-hit combo of "we're the biggest believers and are also handling the titles where implementation is the easiest."
As for getting your message across, you're doing it, but be sure to let the producers at shows and on live streams know what's important to you. We do our best to bring them to those places not because they are such irresistibly handsome devils, but because I want you to know them, and be able to talk to them like I do. We want them to recognize you have some great ideas, and see you as partners in creating great things. You can definitely holla directly at Ono-san and Niitsuma-san on their respective twitter accounts, and as Ono-san has mentioned before, they do track discussions in the forums.
As I've mentioned before, even when we are actively incorporating that feedback and acting on it, the hard part is we can rarely talk about it, as it would mean revealing a new product way before we're ready to talk about it in full, etc.
Are you guys still adamant on your no PC version stance for SF3 Online Edition? — Neighbour
Svensson: Adamant (which would imply never being able to be changed/unwavering)? No. But that's not currently in the plan. We'll see what the future holds. I'm still noodling ideas for how this could work but it wouldn't be any time soon.
Are you prepared to elaborate on the "Upload to Youtube" feature yet for SF3 OE? —
Svensson: Derek will have a full video of how it works posted on Unity "soon".
Will Jill & Shuma be free at some point? — Crazy-Legs
Svensson: There are no plans to make those characters free.
Why isn't there a pre-order and theme for the Xbox 360 version of SF3 Online Edition? — Katsudon Oro
Svensson: We've been asking for pre-orders on digital games for ages, so that our selling windows are larger and our marketing has an ability to result in an actual call to action at that time the marketing activity is happening. So when Sony came up with mechanism to do it, we jumped to come up with some cool incentives and the theme was a big one.
[...] Unfortunately pre-orders aren't supported on Xbox Live (at least not yet). This is a relatively new development on PSN as well and we're fortunate to be one of the first titles participating in such a program.
Is there an option to disable the bonus stages on arcade mode? — Matt
Svensson: I think there might be a dip switch setting that can disable bonus stages but I'm not sure. There's not a standard game setting though.
Can you set light punch and light kick to one button so you can throw with one button? — Harry
Svensson: Unfortunately, there is no way to map multiple buttons to a single button with SF3:OE.
You need to press both buttons to throw.
Can the art in the bubbles of the character select screen be replaced with the original art? Any plans on upgrading the training mode? I hear it's the training mode from Anniversary Collection. — Dok Lite
Svensson: Nope on both fronts.
Once Sf3OE is out, you tube will be flooded with 3rd strike videos.. i wonder how they will implement this..
Do we have to make a new account or it will be linked to our own you tube channels.
Umvc3? hype... cause of strider nemesis and iron fist
Just delay the game i can wait for a year as long as its balance and has more characters...
If we can't get the balance for 3S, I at LEAST hope we can open up the backgrounds for GA and III as well as the hit effects and music. That way it may be 3S but it can also be a culmination of the whole series in one pack. Even if it costs money, I'd DLC it.
Thats so gay on the jill and shuma subject!! Like seriously they should jus t realese them with umvc3 and give us better dlc!! They arent popular enough to be dlc in my opinion! I guess my mystic arts of dr.strange, dormammu, & shuma is a no go....im not wasting 400 ms points for him though! Rather wait for more worthy character like Black panther, blade, or luke cage
I hope the default for Gill is set to BAN so there won't be any mistakes about making a room and forgetting to ban him.
I'm just saying this because my friends are A-holes and would choose him to piss me off.
@4
Urien is the nerfed version of Gill. He's going to be the same as when you versus him in arcade mode.
@5
I agree. I was hoping they could include all the stages from New Generation and SI to the stage selection stages. I'm sick of fighting in that sunset stage of Elena.
@13 preach! These noobs will be crying because Ryu and yun don't beat the whole cast. Instead everyone is beatable in this game. "Sf4 scrubs this game is not easy mode"! So prepare to get bodied!
would want this on PC if it were cross compatible play with xboxers.
>"Welcome nobs" yeah okay
SF3 isn't a player friend game, hence the reason it almost ended the SF series. Just because the game isn't player friendly doesn't mean it is a "REAL" fighting game. It still take skills to win in STIV.
And also, Jill/Shuma shouldn't be free. that will just piss off all the other people that did pay for them.
Malda, you act like I've never played the game. You've never seen me play the game. The last time we hung out on Xbox LIVE was more than a year ago. Quit acting like you know me.
As far as I can tell, you being the so called ELITIST aren't that elite. Keep doing your jumping roundhouse into jab jab throw. You say you've been playing so long, but you still do the most scrub tactics. Keep hating.
@DomDaDude
I'd argue that Boss Seth and playable Seth are nothing alike either, lol. Different vitality, damage output, frame data, may as well have given them entirely different movesets because playing against Boss Seth is NOTHING like playing against real Seth.
Hope the practice mode is really good. Its my first time playing 3rd strike and I want to be decent at it at least! And thank god Gill is able to get banned. I dont want him coming back to life on me all the time -___-
#3 Yes, the reason they didn't bring it out after christmas was because they are worried you did not want to wait for the game.
A "Real" fighter. Ell-oh-ell.
I love it when people say that, as though SFIV takes absolutely no skill, and as if 3S is completely immune to "scrub tactics", as it were.
I love me some 3S too - despite not being all that good at it - but please trip, fall and get over yourselves. Both are real fighting games, they just have different risk/reward systems.
@ 17 ~~ "Ryu and yun don't beat the whole cast." ~~
Uh... now, I'm no pro and I haven't followed the tiers for this game in a long time... but that part about Yun doesn't sound right.
LMAO MALDA seems like he doesn't know anything about either games
Wow. Malda.
Way to show how little you understand. All the 3S fans I've seen that are any good at the game like SFIV as well because they understand one very important thing.
OPTION SELECT PARRY.
Only 3S noobs will say such dumb things like you did about SFIV sucking because your the only ones nooby enough to be losing in 3S because you don't understand how to cheaply win yet. You'll get it. Practice. Then 3S is just as scrubby.
@30: What a generic 'comeback', and I find it disturbing it took you almost a full day to come up with that...
(Your typing skills don't exactly match up to what you claim your age is, either.)
i really dont get how this needs to be explained. if ggpo out right now, everybody should be using it. dont make me beg now lol.
SF4 is very much a real fighting game. Battles are won in your mind, not by simply mashing (unless it's two bad players). SF4 rewards new players by being user-friendly and thus, it's a funnel for Capcom to further create more fighting games. None of this would be possible without SF4. SF4 has the very intricacies that is known throughout the series and you see that in high level play. It's simply a game everyone can enjoy, versus a game that only rewards people with serious knowledge and prevents Capcom from making money.
That's great to know about the whole Gill thing.
I can't believe the game cones out next week.
