Tip sent in by alex_mmorales, and Rafael2487.
@Rafael2487
Yeah I know ;D but you sent it in while I was typing it up so I didn't notice but I got ya.
@Who Is Alpha
He he.. thanks bro.
There were 3 post that i wasn't mentioned
but i know you got a lot of tips in your inbox,
So i Completely understand,,
Looks like we have another high school drop out on hand.might as well start drinking now
Noah and pretty much all young players are so lucky to have a lot of access of fighting game info, strategies, combos, and online comp.
Back then when us old schoolers were 8-12 years old we had...
-No good strategy guides
-No tourney vids
-No good ports
-No training mode in the Arcade version
-No Fighting Game Websites
Hell we didn't even have Internet back then and the only way to get really good comp was through word of mouth of arcades like Southern Hills Golfland and Chinatown Fair.
I didn't even knew there was a tourney scene until the early-mid 90's when a Street Fighter 2 tourney results was published in a game magazine.
I just Dont get why there a lot of Noah haters out there,,
I mean its just a kid Chill...
Im glad Child Prodigy is in quotes...
Playing as Hulk Wesker and ESPECIALLY Sentinel is not exactly the most brilliant thing ever.
If he used MODOK, Arthur and Spider-Man to kick ass...
@12 It's not a matter of WHO he uses but how he played. He had a lot of composure and was ridiculously calm.
You really should check how you sound just now. You sound like someone who is jealous of a 8 year old plain and simple. Really mature of you.
@ 12 um basic english, "child prodigy" is in quotes because its a tittle given to a person. sort of like diago "the beast" umehara. also wesker is very complex for a 8 year old. i cant get some of my 15 year old little brother to do wesker combos. just be glad to see the next generation of the fighting game community.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
If people don't think he's good, then no need to bash.
Just an opinion, no one is out to destroy this kid.
Calling people out and saying their "this" and "that" for simply voicing an opinion.
That's pretty damn ignorant.
And #8 is right, kids these days are lucky.
They have access to tons of info now, easily.
Not to mention young kids learn fast.
I play MvC with my 13 year old brother and he kicks my ass.
Now, not being harsh, but I don't think this kid is all that impressive.
Sorry if somehow people take that the wrong way entirely.
(So much salt, it's like it's Daigo in an 8 year old's body the way yall hate on him!)
'CAUSE HE IZ A KID MEANS WE AUTOMATICALLY MUST STARE IN WONDER AT HIS HULK SPAMMING H ETC.. OR HIS ALL AROUND STRAIGHT FORWARD RUN OF THE MILL DAY ONE HULK/SENTINEL HYPER ARMOR SPAM .... THE INABILITY OF HIS OPPONENTS TO BLOCK MAKES ME LAUGH AND REMEMBER WHAT GOOTECKS SAID , THAT VAST MAJORITY OF THE TOURNAMENT PLAYERS ARE AVERAGE AND THIS KID IS JUST ANOTHER AVERAGE HULK/SENTINEL AT BEST...
Some people use the word prodigy way to lightly.
xD
Kids now days...
Yes
Good
what
no
yes?
I don't know
xD
Why do I get the feeling this kid is pretending?
My nephew that's 4 years old speaks more than him.
But anyways.. keep it up kid! Next time practice your answers for interviews. Don't be all ignorant just cause your a kid.
"Nobody wants to fight that kid."
"Well that's because when you fight against a kid, like everyone is against you. We don't wanna see a kid lose."
I bet for that one reason is why he got so far.
The most respectful thing about this kid is how god damn calm he is when he plays. He didn't get nervous or lose his cool even when he was in the big stage.
Anyone who has actually gone to a local tournament and been in that social environment knows what I mean. When you first try to show off that combo or set up you learned from training mode, but just can't because of the nerves. I can tell a lot of players here and on srk don't understand this because they only play online.
@ Von_Kunlun_BOOF
"Two statements which cannot both be true because one denies the other."
Are you referring to:
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
If people don't think he's good, then no need to bash."
Then yes, my mistake. Instead of "bash" I should have said is:
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
If people don't think he's good, then no need for name calling or assumptions as to why they 'think' other people are commenting, such as saying they're immature and jealous."
Happy?
Kids are oblivious of what the tournement really means.
To us, placing high gives bragging rights to the community as a whole.
To a 8yr old kid; it's just playing the game.
What, he's gonna run home and talk about how he schooled some 30yr old guy to all his friends in Pre-K?
F*ck you.
some of you people on here are super immature, no matter what strategy he uses he still got top 48 which is more than what most people on this site can say. give respect where respects due, you dont need to worship this kid but kudos nonetheless. to the people that think he's so easy to play, 9/10 of you probably havent even sat down to play against him. he may use simple tactics, yes true, but he uses them wisely. some of the best nba players (ahem kobe) go back to the basics, and go back to simple but effective strats. does that mean that those nba players are noobs or scrubs?! you must be retarded to answer "yes" to that.
some of you guys on this site just needa grow up. i guess the best thing about the hate is that obviously you're riding on this 8 yr. olds nuts pretty hard and you're jealous you couldn get as far as he did, so you can stop being d**kriders now.
And once again I must ask why some of you are so uptight about this kid getting praised. Why does it bother you? Why do you have to leave negative comments about the kid? Why do you have to play the part of the cynical internet A-hole?
He's an 8 year old that has a good understand of the game for someone his age, and is impeccably calm under pressure, especially considering how many times he was put up on the main stage of EVO. On top of that, while his play style was definitely simple (he is an 8 year old after all), he played well enough to advance into the top 48 at the world's largest and most important fighting game tournament in the world. And the icing on the cake is the fact that he has such supportive parents.
Taking all those things into account, why can't you just be happy for the kid, knowing that he is a representative of the future of the fighting game community?
Using Hulk Sent and Wesker doesnt take much skill..if any
I just think people are hating on him because it's MVC3. they see him get a happy birthday with Hulk's standing H and it gives them painful memories of laggy online Hulks.
Sure maybe calling him a "prodigy" is a bit overboard but the kid clearly is not your average 8 year old, most kids wouldn't even comprehend high-level competition at that age. They'd just mash on some buttons and get mad and then go back to Halo. Noah deserves the respect.
If only Capcom made it so ALL characters have decent moves and not some of them.
I wish Joe can punish most blocked moves but he cant.
I wish more than 3 people had a viable OTG assist.
I wish the Weapon-X crew had the ability to slowly heal themselves.
This kid skilled and talented period. He should be respected, for his inspirational skill.
I'm glad some people see this kid isn't a prodigy. He spams super armor moves and the people he fought were all to slow to adapt and win. Theres people online like that all the time that doesn't work on good players you all saw how Chris G handled him.
Hes WAY BETTER than most kids his age but hes no prodigy, hes not messing with the big boys just yet. not even close to that thinking level and its because hes only 8.
and the one character he picked that didn't have super armor was wesker and he didn't do anything with him you only saw him land hits with Sent and Hulk. If those characters weren't so overpowered with super armor he wouldn't have made it that far.
people can call me a hater all they want but if noah was 15 and playing the same way you all would say he flat out sucks and call him a noob and give him no respect.
@44 uhm duh, b/c by 15 his balls would've dropped. this dudes just a child, not a freakin' 15 yr. old teenager who can defend his or herself. if you dont think he's a prodigy which is fine if you do or dont the least you can do is give him respect. he's half some peoples age dude and a quarter from others and they're hating on an 8 yr old. how's that not sad?!
GamePirate420 and Image91 are the type of cynical A-holes I'm referring to in my post at 36, if anyone needs direct reference posts. Thanks for giving me prime examples, lads.
I hope you guys feel good about talking down an 8 year old that did better at EVO than fully-grown men.
Noah Positives and Negatives:
+ Age: 8
+ Stays Calm
+ Got out of pools with simple tactics
+ Probably a talented player in the future and a real threat
- Simple tactics
- Skill level is very basic (although he got some advanced stuff)
- Bad adaption
- Bad versatility
Well
How to impress a Inet A..-hole
- Skill
- Good adaption
- Big versatility
- Clutch
If you take away the fact he's 8 year old, there's absolutely nothing impressive about this player. And if you wanna treat everyone equally (Women, children, men) in a competition like Evo you have to overlook his age, I guess.
If you look at it rationally Noahs just another player.
"Noah is just another player" "nothing impressive about this player" you guys must be high on the pipe. When did you place top 48 in EVO?... Don't worry, I'll wait... indeed, never, so until that day, an 8 year old has more bragging rights, deal with it.
Did he use the most elaborate strategies? nope, but the simple ones he did use, were effective. You can also sh!t all over the team he chose, but again, have you gotten the same level of success? Even with this team?... don't worry, I'll wait... and again, no, never, so hate all you want, but a kid has done more, achieved more in this community than you did.
I find it sad that our community is like that, full of jealousy and hate. We don't have to sing songs around the campfire, but a little respect and appreciation goes a long way.
I mean let's see who gets the attention when three more kids of identical age participate and do well--suddenly Noah won't be the favorite anymore. Let's see who gets all the attention when a 5-year-old girl comes along and reaches the top 10. THAT is a prodigy. Do you think this kid doesn't know you're giving him special treatment because of his age? I would... but then I was a cynical child. :)
@Flawless #11 using that logic, Chess is an ass game as there have been many 8-10 year old prodigies. BS statement right there, friend.
@caruga #51 So, he is not a prodigy because he didn't make top 10? Are you on crack? Look at how many people particpated and the average age of those particpants. The fact that he beat quite a few decent players proves he has at least some talent.
And assuming you're an adult, who either wasn't at EVO or didn't place equal or higher than Noah, it also indicates that there is a real possibility he's better than you!!!
He gets "special treatment", because it is quite exceptional to get far in a big tournament at his age. Otherwise, tell me the last time an 8 year old did this well at EVO, SBO or any other big tourny. Don't hate, congratulate!
If he is way better than his fellow 8 year olds, that doesn't make him a prodigy? Well, thats the definition of the term. xD
You guys forget a lot of things. Yeah, his young and you assume that he can learn faster. But you are educated man, you know the pure basics of gaining knowlidge and you have basics to return to. This kid probably learns starter grammar and math problems like multiply or divide. He doesn't even know whats an equation and he didn't learn logics and yet, he can form advanced formulas and setups in a videogame. Yes, he did frame traps and unblockables.
He learned the basics of understanding his surroundings a year ago, and yet... he is on the biggest stage of the fighting game world, doing great, under the most pressure he will ever be.
It's just blows my mind.
Bless his little cotton socks, haha.
Anyway, Noah may not be a "child prodigy"; but I'd like to see half of the people here hating on the kid place in the top 48 at EVO in MvC3, regardless of tactics or character choice.
He may not be like the second coming of Jesus Christ, but he has still done more than a lot of the keyboard warriors that we have here. And you people can talk about how he is average all you want, he's still made a bigger impact in the fighting games community than most of you ever will.
I'm not even going to lie, I'd get my ass beat by the kid at MvC3. Then again, a blind person with Parkinson's could probably beat me at Marvel.
Once again, I don't hate the kid and don't see anyone else hating him, it just seems that the praise for him is overdone and is purely down to his age.
Personally I think all the praise is bad for his discipline. If you make him feel like a hero, giving him an invented award, and parade him in front of the limelight now, then he might feel he has nothing to reach for if the best of his skill is yet to come.
The environment should be as brutal for him as it is for everyone else. He should not be any more visible than the people who placed just ahead and behind him. He should have to go home and think about his failure, as his peers in skill have to. Softness won't breed a hero. We wouldn't put this adulation on someone for being female and "pretty good for a female"--that would be condescending-- and we shouldn't do it for children either, it's just prejudice. It's an adults game and if he wants to step up to the plate he should be treated as an adult. JWong didn't get this kind of celebrity as a kid and look where he got.
He's not a "Child Prodigy" his skill level is where it's expected to be. He's just the only 8 year old playing I'm sure if other little kids played the game as long as him they'd be just as good if not better. Considering he uses day 1 tactic of mash H w/ Hulk and Cr.M w/ Sentinel. Baby wesker combos not to mention the crowd crapping on the opposing player. AND the crap players who entered for laughs and the players who dont know how to deal with hyper armour were his opponents. Noah "Child" is a fine title
"Noah "Child" is a fine title"
@56: LOL, doesn't have the same ring to it...
Waiting for the first person to call you a hater. That term gets bandied around recklessly and rudely. Some will see you as taking the young man down a peg, but if that's true then you're only taking him down from where people should never have elevated him to in the first place! If they hadn't praised him to the sky to begin with it wouldn't seem nearly so harsh to be objective right now. This is one party that needs a few poopers. Noah could use some tough love if people want him to really excel.
"He's just the only 8 year old playing" - Here you have your explanation. You are right that when there will be more 8 year olds performing like this, the praise will diminish.
"JWong didn't get this kind of celebrity as a kid and look where he got." Are you really saying JWong doesn't get praise or is not treated as special? I wonder which articles you're reading. King of Chinatown doesn't ring a bell, I suppose?
Or is it that you feel that Justin deserves the praise and Noah doesn't? All I can say is, try to replicate his success and you WILL get praise and recognition yourself. Even when you're not 8 years old.
OH. MY. GOD.
You people never cease to amaze me.
Can you imagine how hyped you'd be if you were even capable of doing anything worthy to make the front page of SRK or Eventhubs?? Then can you multiply that by 10, cuz you know, you're only 8yrs old?? Noah prolly visis this site and reads these comments...
Well whateva, if you have been here Noah, and I sincerely hope you havn't, but if you have, this is one of the most important lessons you can learn in life. The better you do, at ANYTHING, the more salty haters you attract.
And don't you dare listen to what they're sayin about your tactics cuz guess what; by making top 48 in EVO you've achieved more in fighting games than 99% of people posting on this site EVER will. And if we're just talking about haters, you can go ahead and add that missing 1%
Why even click on the story and comment if you're only gunna bring negativity??
I swear you people would be an embarassment to ANY community, how come you all play fighting games?
Is everyone here REALLY getting defensive over an 8 year old? No wonder people think the online fighting game community is a piece of trast, because it is!
I thought that was the most adorable interview I've ever seen. Good for him!
Haters gonna hate.
@Ruuku Naah, not really, he just reached top 48 at EVO, something everyone on EH seems to be capable of doing, but for some reason have not done yet.
He beat people several years his seniors, with scrubby tactics, that other EH visitors would have beaten easily. well, they didn't, but had they been to EVO they would have destroyed him.
And oh yeah, he played MvC3, so that "proves that that game sucks".
Anyways, since the pros that were there can be impressed by him, I really don't see why anybody who didn't even get to EVO would hate on Noah. He did something that 99% of this site's visitors can only dream of doing: finishing top 50 at the greatest tournament of the year, that is commendable in my book.
If you're impressed with him, you'll be accused of dick-riding an eight year old. If you acknowledge it is impressive for someone his age, they will tell you that they were all much better when they were his age. Even if there is no proof to back it up.
@ Snake X
Tough Love TOUGH LOVE!!
He ONLY used the scrubbiest characters well. Good for him.
Prodigy should not be thrown around for a kid that uses BRAINLESS CHARACTERS!!
If he kicked ass with Morrigan Lei Lei, V. Joe or some other under-appreciated character THAT is something.
Im surprised the kid didnt end with Pheonix or Akuma instead of Wesker for the TRUE Trifecta of scrubbiness! But if you need an OTG assist...no easier choice than Wesker.
He should treated like every other player. There's going to be even more pressure Noah to prove himself if he enters anymore tournaments. If a female player placed in the top 48, they wouldn't get this kind of attention.
A female player would use generally use female reps of her gender.
And Capcom didnt make them that strong sans She hulk and Pheonix
Lol, you don't need to make top 48 in order to give your opinion on someone. It's like telling someone they can't critique a movie because they've never made one. Logic fail. On top of that, AFAIK no one even outright stated they were better. Pay attention to the argument at hand.
Also, bear in mind not EVERYONE can participate in EVO. Money, time, commitments, etc. can prevent lots of potential players from competing.
While I find Noah to be a great player at his age and is deserving of praise, I will agree it can be excessive. Of all the matches I saw of him that were streamed, he constantly kept getting away with Up Team Aerial Exchanges. So yes, he may have gotten top 48, but that doesn't mean much if all his opponents sucked.
Again, I'm not implying that I'm better than him nor even the players he won against. But as someone who's seen far better matches, I can voice my opinion on the matter.

'CAUSE HE IZ A KID MEANS WE AUTOMATICALLY MUST STARE IN WONDER AT HIS HULK SPAMMING H ETC.. OR HIS ALL AROUND STRAIGHT FORWARD RUN OF THE MILL DAY ONE HULK/SENTINEL HYPER ARMOR SPAM"
"Run of the Mill" "Day One Hulk Hyper Armor Spam" those kind of remarks imply that the poster is much better than Noah. So outright stated or not, the message is clear.
It's true you don't have to have placed top 48 to have an opinion about him, but for an opinion to be taken seriously it helps if you can at least point to something similar you have achieved, otherwise you just sound like a jealous douche. How come the pros can say they're impressed with him and many EH keyboard jockeys can't?
The argument of the movie and the critique is also not entirely applicable, since Noah is not playing for YOUR enjoyment, he's playing for his own. So yeah, you can decide
you don't like Noah's playstyle, but to say he's nothing special, when there is nobody else his age doing the same stuff is just being ignorant.
Do you have to drool over him? No, but if we can get hype for a JWong victory over Daigo? Why can't we be impressed with a kid who has achieved quite an impressive thing that many adults only wish they could achieve?
Granted, Justin is older and plays with more complex strategies, but that doesn't dismiss Noah's performance.
I am not saying that the media attention can't get excessive, it can, but then again if Ryan Hart (or anybody else for that matter) places top 32 in some tournament, he will also get multiple mentions and interviews.
Besides, if you feel the media exposure is getting too much, you don't HAVE TO click the link, you don't HAVE TO watch the video and you don't have to leave dismissive comments. Keep it classy, folks.
@Geniuzz
You're obviously taking this much more seriously than I am. All I asked is if he did anything special to get this type of attention. Not all the top 48 placers got interviews while some of them had some pretty hype moments. So that's why I was wondering why he got that type of attention other than for being 8 years old.
I mean I give props to anyone placing well in a tournament but to me this particular situation doesn't deserve this much attention.
-"Run of the Mill" "Day One Hulk Hyper Armor Spam" those kind of remarks...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
Yes, it seems very implicit that he feels better than Noah, but from that you can't outright prove he feels that. On top of that, he's offering arguments for his side. So rather than ignoring those argument because of his implied claim that he's better (which, even if he was, no one cares), people should focus on countering his claims.
-It's true you don't have to have placed top 48 to have an opinion about him, but...
True, the more respectable a person, the more weight their words have. So it's no surprise people choose to ignore posts from "nobodies who hide behind keyboards". Whether you choose to accept, refute, or ignore those posts is up to you.
How come all the pros praise him? Obviously because they would be ripped apart for critiquing someone like Noah, like how the crowd booed the competitors that played against Noah. I'm not saying nobody actually praised him, just why no one chose to outright critique him if they wanted to.
-The argument of the movie and the critique is also not entirely applicable...
True, but I did admit to Noah being special, so this argument doesn't apply to me. :)
-Besides, if you feel the media exposure is getting too much, you don't HAVE TO click...
Um no. We go to EventHubs to see fighting game news, etc. If we see a lot of Noah articles, we'd click the link so we could voice our concern over the number of articles being excessive. This kind of argument is meant for YouTubers who post negative comments on videos of things they hate.
Just to be clear, I respect Noah, he's a great player, especially due to his young age.
@Geniuzz I'm not looking for a fight, just replying to your post as a response. No ill will directed towards you, and you are right about a lot of what you said.
Kids learn faster than teenagers... therefore it's much more impressive when an older person wins.
