Rafael2487 noticed that a trailer for the upcoming Fighter X Shooter tournament being held in Chicago, Illinois, on September 2-4, 2011 was posted to YouTube. This video features Mortal Kombat 9, so there is some NSFW violent content. You can find more information about the event on the official website.
Be sure not to miss our next large tournament in Chicago-Northbrook called Fighter X Shooter! Games to be played include Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (singles, PS3), Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition (singles, PS3), Mortal Kombat 9 (singles, PS3), Mystery Game Tournament (singles, various consoles), Call of Duty Black Ops (4 vs 4 teams, 360), Halo Reach (4 vs 4 teams, 360), Madden 2012 (singles, Xbox 360).
Bonus pots will be given for each game and 100% of tournament entrance fee's will be paid out poker style! Tons of free giveaways and raffles will be taking place. Unique vendor booths will be around.
As a Chicagoan, I find it funny that most of the Chicago Tournaments are never actually held IN Chicago.
I'm going to try and go to this. :)
@1
Settle down, it was a reference to the gory nature of MK.
@2
It's not just our tourneys, the same usually goes for a lot of tournaments that are advertised as being in certain places. It's just simpler to say it's a Chicago tournament than to say it's a Northbrook tournament.
I agree completely with #2. Northbrook IS NOT CHICAGO, and it's very frustrating that these events are not in the city.
I also live in Chicago, and like MANY Chicagoans I have no car. This makes it impossible to go to events like this that are held FAR from the city and nowhere near public transit. These people who organize these events need to consider the locals a little.

How come this gets a NSFW warning but Angry Joe didnt?
@10 My sentiments exactly. They advertise it as Chicago then hold the tournament deep in the suburbs away from good public transportation. Seriously Northbrook is such a pain in the a$$ to get too without a car. Same reason I didn't go to Chicago Heart 3 yesterday, it was held in Northbrook.
If they're so inclined to hold it in the suburbs at least chose a place like O'Hare or Rosemont. There's plenty of hotels by the airport and people that actually live in the city can get there from the train.
@ People that have no car. Do you have no friends that would like to attend this event that own a car? If not, you should try and make more friends that play games. Most people I known car pool to tournaments. Is there no bus system that can bring people from Chicago to Northbrook? I'm sure people use public transportation daily to go in to Chicago from Northbrook and vise versa.
I can only imagine what the prices would be like in Chicago for a venue as big as the one FxS has. Triple the price? If you like tournaments being semi affordable and not having EVO level entrance fee's, then people need to use venues right outside of the large cities. It makes perfect financial sense.
And let's NOT forget, the Hotel fee is only $69 per night. Find me a Hotel in Chicago that can offer this. If you split that 4 ways with some friends, that's only $17.25 each per night (around $20 after taxes).
I can't believe the level of complaining on here. Good people are trying to throw an amazing event close to the Chicago area and all I hear are people bitching. How about a little props for the hard work these people put in to create these larger events.
Nice trailer.
LOL Catalyst, "This video features Mortal Kombat 9, so there is some NSFW violent content.". ¬_¬"
I also consider SF to be violent content....same for Halo: Reach and CoD.
The only "non-violent" thing in the trailer was the American Football.
I hope this tournament gets multiple streams.
