Cross Counter has uploaded an interview with Gama no Abura, the creator of the famous Nagoya Street Battle series. Check out the summary below.
At Evo 2011, Cross Counter Asia's Zhi got the chance to speak with several international visitors, utilizing his mastery of multiple languages. In this video he sat down with Gama No Abura, the creator and host of the Nagoya Street Battle fighting game events in Japan. Topics covered include what his name means, sponsorships, the perception of gamers in Japan, and gives us a taste of his ultra hype commentary style!
Tip from GoukiRocha.
I think it's a battle between the sheer amount of content being transmitted and how long you want to wait after EVO is over to put it up. If they made subtitles or a transcript it would take so much longer to get this content out there and people might not be as interested.
They need to find a balance and here in America they need to incorporate more online tournies and find a way to get lower level players to compete and not get discouraged due to getting beat by the obvious pros. Maybe an incentive for 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th place. Then the playing field may level, hopefully with SF vs Tekk that will change
Long but good interview.
If Japan wants more exposure and involvement from the community:
1) Stream SBO
2) NSB gets streamed but needs to be publicized more when on
3) Have more tournaments completely open to even low level players so everyone can be involved, like EVO. GodsGarden4 you had to qualify or get voted in. SBO you have to qualify.
