lol sf4 balrog is way to slow compared to sf2 one. Also is much less threatening same for vega. I wouldnt wanna see daigo pick up balrog even if he could use him effectively. Sf2 balrog is as vicious as they come :D
I wonder why Daigo is the only one who gets sh*t from people for using top tiers?
Tokido uses Akuma, Bob, Noel, Vega in ST, Wolv-Sent-Phoe, Chun-li in 3S. That literally a list of top tiers from known FGs
I'm not going on about the tier-whoring thing, I just hope the FGC shows respect to people using top tiers like they show Tokido. At least have a constructive discussion.

I case you didnt know,Tokido is known for being dirty player like that. He openly admitted to trying to use the cheapest tactic/character there is in any given fighter. Hes been like that for years, you cant hold it against him cause that is part of what tokido... TOKIDO! he gets respect cause he doesnt shy away with it and people expect nothing less from him :D
Think daigo is too calm and collected, and i guess that infuriates people cause he doesnt crack. Plus daigo isnt the only one that gets crap for it. It just more evident now cause fighters are in full swing.
In 3s and mvc2 just about anyone serious was using the top tier, and because of the that no one can complain cause its an even battlefield if everyone is using the best. Cant deny anyone of their victory by character choices(a win is a win, nothing stopping folks from picking the best so suck it up).

Theory: original ST looks and feels better. Yes, I am aware they redrew everything in HD, but the animation in HDR is... well, it's non-existent. Since everything was simply redrawn frame-by-frame, the idea that each frame would have to flow as a motion was more of an afterthought. So what you get is stiff, jerky animation that makes moves look unnatural compared to the original. Compare Ryu's standing animation in HDR to the original ST; pretty big difference, and I can tell you personally that these things are distracting during play.
So yeah, original ST is quality artistry, and that's why they play it. Or maybe it's just to be old school. Or maybe it's because Dave Sirlin is an idiot. I dunno.

it still doesnt feel the same, i still rather play ST on the emulator than boot up the ps3 and play HDR on any setting(could just be me). Plus i dont think they allow you to use old versions of characters and with that, things like Old thawk lethal option select doesnt work. Or could just be they prefer their scanlines and no input delay..

Tbh I dont even see Tokido as such a tier whore anymore. Akuma is insanelllyy hard to play with, and I feel he coulda just picked Viper up or even Yun up instead. (Not saying Viper is easier to play with, but I feel shes more rewarding/less hard due to all the matchups to learn)
I cant even count the players who stopped maining Akuma since Super anymore lol. Also Noel in BB is not that strong compared to some. (Dont know how she is in CS2, but judging from before that) I believe she was mid/low top tier even.
ALSO AGAIN GUYS..RYU WAS NOT THAT GOOD IN SUPER. He was top 8, but he was not the best, let stand overpowered S tier.
Hell Ill call mago more of a tier whore since he went with S tier sagat, and S tier Fei (Super I guess he didnt) and he's the only one of the three that COUNTER picks as well, while others just roll with their char and bad matchups.

Mago basically puts Fei Long on the map when he won Gods Garden 2 Online beating everyone (Daigo, Sako, Uryo, Momochi, etc) in a FT10.
And Daigo counter-picked Ryan Hart with Cammy at one of the European tourneys and Mago with Guile @ Canada Cup 2010.
I give Daigo respect because he is the most successful fighting game player to date. He's there to shows us the max potential of every character he uses as well as the given fatcs of the whole game. Good players even influence tierlists because of their innovative playstyle (look at Gamerbee who placed Adon on the map an developped a sucessful playstyle with that character).
People who don't get through the pools because they picked some ass character simply can't accomplish that.
A low-tier player speaking here btw. Someone who likes to beat tierwhores, who mostly are - unlike Daigo - by no means innovative or original.
@23 I dont think Mago is trying to tier whore, he was using Fei before AE.
Most tier whores are actually those who make em, and always speak in such ways : 'I think this character is one of the strongest'
Looking back at it now, Daigo Tokido and Mago made the AE tier list haha Dx and J Wong was the guy always saying 'ADON IS ASS'! So those who really seems to search for a strongest character are tier whores
Actually it was Mago who turned Fei players into tier whores =P
I remember reading an interview back when Super was new and he had just switched to Fei. As early as then, he said that he switched to Fei because he really did believe that Fei was the strongest character in the game.
So basically Mago knew that Fei was S-tier as early as AE, and he was the one who sort of showed that to everybody else.
