Sony sent out a press release this morning announcing their first annual PlayStation Network PLAY program. Users can net a 20% discount on Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition if they pre-order the game and they're PlayStation Plus members, which is about $3 off the $15 price tag. Also, Gill will be unlocked automatically for users who pick up the game through the service.
With each pre-order from the PLAY program made in the PlayStation®Store, gamers will receive a theme for their PlayStation®3 system. PLAY also offers gamers a separate gift with purchase for each order made throughout the duration of the program. In addition, PlayStation®Plus subscribers will receive an automatic 20% off every PLAY program purchase.
August 23: The PLAY program kicks off with Capcom’s highly-anticipated Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, available to pre-order through August 18, 2011. This action-fighting title features 20 playable characters, HD graphics, more than 200 pieces of unlockable content, more than 100 trials and more than 100 challenges When Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition is purchased during the PLAY promotion, purchasers will be able to unlock GILL, the self-proclaimed god, without having to beat the game with every character, as day-one DLC. All pre-orders will also receive a Capcom-produced theme. Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition will be $14.99.

@2 the bonus is the OPTION to unlock Gill without having to go through the motions. If you don't want to use the bonus DLC, pretty sure you don't have to.
I wanna use Gill. It's fun to screw around with overly broken characters like: Akuma back in SF2, Goro in MK9.

In the Giantbomb Quick Look, Seth or Derek said that you could ban characters in your tournaments and stuff. So don't fret. Gill won't be destroying the competition in your games if you don't want him to.
When you pre-order a downloadable game, the game gets installed on your system, but can't be played until release date. This way, you don't have to wait for the download when it does release.
At least this is the deal for Steam. Don't know for sure if PSN will do the same.
Actually, you only get 20% off the game if you're a Playstation Plus member. If you preorder the game, you get the Gill unlock and some sort of special theme, but no discount.
And for those that don't want Gill unlocked, just don't download the unlock key. It'll be a seperate download, if previous PSN games are any indication.
ok im really confused. how does this work? i never heard of the Play program. i never pre-order a game before off of the psn store so can any on here tell me HOW THIS WORKS?

Pre-orders start next tuesday, August 9. Like I said before, the game is $15 for everybody, and $12 for PS+ users. Gill unlock key will be a seperate (optional) download.
No 360 stuff AGAIN ._. seriously, Madcatz is not re-stocking the older sticks for the 360 and never giving discounts...Capcom is never giving discounts for the costume packs (Been waiting forever..) now again 20% of only for PSN.
What is wrong with the connection between Microsoft & Capcom lol. Plz someone ask Seth, or Ono that one day, all so Biased (Seth during Evo randomly, ''That was like some XBL online stuff, that stuff doesn't roll on the PSN'' While XBL has the better online (For a price, but just sayin') but I understand its prob. cause MC didn't cooperate.
I think I'm actually looking forward to the 23rd, if only so the fans will stop drooling over every Street Fighter thread on Eventhubs.

Oni isn't broken on any level. Gill is easily broken. Also on a side note, I'm pretty sure they said you could ban certain characters from play.

what if im some dumb scrub who thinks Oro or Urien are broken so i decide to ban them, people who want to play me will have to pick characters other then those two?

fools! even if Oni is banned doesnt mean hes in the same league as Gill. trust me anyone playing Gill will win, regardless if theyre new to the game. you need just 1 set-up and its practically over. plus Seraphic Wing cant be parried (you can knowck him out of it before it starts but thats hard if the Gill player knows how to set it up properly).

I hope this pre-ordering means the download will start as soon as the game becomes available. I always seem to have PSN store troubles whenever I wanna download something quick, haha.
Btw, Gill is only playable in unranked matches, plus you can ban characters if you want.
Sorry have i missed something here? Why would you need to pre-order DLC? Its not got limited number of downloads or anything. lol

Basically Sony know it will sell way more on the xbox, so there trying to sway the easily swayed with a theme and an early unlock to get them to buy the PS3 version over the Xbox version. Its so obvious, you'd have to be a moron not to see it!
i called up sony a few hours ago to find out more about this playstation play thing and the girl i spoke 2 said the current dlc with 3rd strike is gill unlock dlc content wich derek neil was hesitant to talk about for whatever reason then i asked if there was dlc for shin akuma she said that there wasnt anything as of right now but who knows what the future brings ima still buy this game midnight the 23rd cant wait!
another thing does anyone know if the fight request feature will be in third strike as was and is a the sf4's?
im likin the fact that i pay 3 buck less for 3rd strike and more then likely the dlc will be ciscounted as well that just goes too show th at x box sucks well tough break x box players!
