It's a common misconception that 3S is broken. (Bring on the flames and "intelligent" comments). The game is great the way it is. I'm personally happy about no re-balance.
@#3
Yeah, pretty much that.
Because of the parry system - anyone can stand a chance with any character providing you get good enough. However characters like Yun, Chun and Ken just have way too much going for them at higher levels.
@#3
It would be something if you found a pro Chun, Yun, or Ken every other match, but you don't. As good as those characters are (really good), someone who doesn't know how to use them probably won't succeed.
Don't fix what ain't broken? ...Right...
There's always room for improvement. A game where you have to use 4 of the characters at high level is kind of wrong. But, I suppose that it isn't cool to split the community.
You know I love how the video is a complete trollfest.
While I agree with not touching a classic formula, I don't agree with just leaving it completly broken. Hell i'd take buffing some of the weaker characters and still leave the others alone. But thats just me, I main Chun anyways so....well....sorry guys.
@#11
I've played the entire 3s cast extensively with the exception of one or two characters. Being able to hit confirm SA2 doesn't make me a top player. Try exploring the cast.
It's just odd that people complain about AE and welcome the new balance changes when 3rd strike is even worse in the balance department.
People were saying how Yun and Fei would be the only thing we see at Evo which was party true but CYK really will be all we see.
Chun Li could really use a nerf... they nerfed her from vanilla SF4 to SSF4 and AE, and she didn't even really need it that bad.
I think alot of the weaker characters in 3S could use a buff for sure.
Capcom you try to balance this game and i can promise an ass whooping from someone. seriously. stop touching these classics and ruining them for morons who want everything easy in life. **** you, learn to adapt blah blah blah youve heard it a bunch of times.
lazy pieces of $hit!
Is it too much to ask to just quit complaining about this game being rebalanced and just learn its mechanics. I mean okay it is a much more complex game compared to the others but, I think once you master it, you will get a sense of satisfaction that the SFIV series just cannot provide. I am not saying SFIV is not a good game but, I am just saying that if this game has been around for about a decade with people still playing... It must be doing something right.
@14 i didnt say itd make you a top player, shes broken
sooo the dlc is most likely online/maybe offline tournament mode? Its not a massive addition however i wont shun a free thing. Hope there is some more interesting dlc planned for the future. Though saying this i will be buying sf3:3s no dooubt, i mean it is 3s!!! :D
@#14
"Broken" is a word that loves to be thrown around by people that haven't played the game extensively. Gill is broken, not Chun. Chun is really good, top tier, yes. Broken, no. At SS one of the world's best Chun-li players (MOV) didn't win. Got beat out by another top player. Chun-Li is top tier, and an extremely annoying character to fight against, but not broken. It's good to make a distinction between "really good" and "broken".
I'll pay whatever Capcom wants if they release X-Men vs. Street Fighter ver.1 on PSN/XBL.
Greatest. Game. Ever.
Stop asking for balance patches people. Play the damn game like we did 10-15 years ago. Fun, broken messes are always gonna be awesome because of how crazy they can be.
I mean I guess AE does have its charm but I mean if we all just keep focusing on the bad points of games we will never truly enjoy them. I just think from what most have said... SFIV has dumbed down the learning curve a little bit to reach a larger crowd which in ways is smart thinking... Now that they have hooked you in... They want to challenge that brain of yours and bring back one of their more technical fighters. I honestly think if you are Street Fighter fan... You'll live and if you are a fighting game fan... You can adjust. The only thought I have is with this coming back out, are they hinting that SFV will be even more technical... That will just be history repeating itself.. It will become to techincal for the casual people who complain now and thus the following for SF might sink back in the hole again. I really hope not. Let us put those brains of ours to good use and learn these games already. Lol and you wonder why Japan hands most of us our butts at tournaments, up for the challenge as always lol jk kinda.
Hopefully this version of 3s does very well, so when capcom decide to do SF5 in the future they can take the fun/rewarding element that 3s brought and the crowd that sf4 brought and the tension that sf2 had.
In all honesty i cant picture sf4 series lasting more than 2 more years at most. Doesnt seem to have the tournament longevity as previous capcom fighters and not to mention that capcom would most likely release another street fighter a few years from now if even. Sf4 have its Hype moments, but generally its dull and slow paced, and with most people seemingly have ADD this day and age it doesnt bode well.
@ #9, anon1010 sf2 fans were mad about HDR changes because ST was pretty much perfect, third strike not so much. I don't care for re balance but it wouldn't have hurt to have made it an option. Besides the only way to truly balance a fighter is to have only one character.
Street Fighter III: 4th Assault
Step 1: Rebalance Existing Fighters
Step 2: Add Abel, Seth, ElFuerte, Bison, Juri, Hakan, Guy, and Cody
Step 3: - m a y b e - HD Remix-ify the graphics. In fact give Udon silloutts of all the sprites, upscale, smooth edges, and tell them to color INSIDE THE LINES!
Step 4: Profit
@38
You should be bound and gagged and then thrown to the sharks for that horrible idea. It's new generation gamers like you that probably complain and ask the game developers to make it easier for you instead of actually learning the matchups and game mechanics.
@37
3s is perfect the way it is. Just like how ST is perfect. Any changes to try and "re-balance" the game just flat out ruins it completely and will turn people away from it. I'm already mad at myself for buying HDR because of how different they made it.
alot of mor*ons in this topic.. instead of wanting a close to perfect product you actually want an unbalanced game...
its a fighting game, it suppose to be balance idiots, if it was made today it would have got rebalanced already
@41: Does that mean there are days when you don't hate them?
@39: Yeah, how's that Remy-Chun matchup?
@#44
I believe the release date was already confirmed for August 28th. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
@40 - Oh man is this the pot calling the kettle black or what? I love how you're calling everyone idiots when your post is barely legible.
The game is fine. Yeah, Yun, Ken, and Chun-Li are very strong, but that doesn't mean no one else is useable.
They have my respect for what they are doing with 3rd Strike but they are joking with SSF4 AE.
Super Turbo is fine the way it was, No HD remix needed. All they really needed to do with that is just the graphic upgrade and they complaints would stop. I think with the exception of certain nerfs, most people prefer Super over Vanilla and AE... I mean the most close thing to balanced if you had to compare... I have not played it enough to know if what I am saying is true.. If not then I apologize. As for 3rd Strike.. Just leave it alone, they will not add DLC characters to it since its a perfect arcade port... Last time I checked... There was no Seth or Cody or even Juri. Just who you see now is who will be there forever. There are no 10-0 matches in any fighting game I know of so far so everyone has a chance at winning... Some may be more difficult than others but, yeah... None are impossible. I do agree to a degree that fighting games in certain instances do cater just a tad too much to the newbies... I mean there will be some who will play easy modes on game maybe forever and claim they are of pro level which in reality is not the case lol. You are the pro of easy mode and nothing more. It is still somewhat a respectable title but in the world of professional gaming, no offense but its luster does not hold at all. The one Brolly guy from Houston, born with a disability and can still play AE with the best of them. He even gave Daigo quite a run for his money. I personally believe if you are in his position and still holding your own against the pros of today.. You have the drive that most do not... Not once has this guy complained about anything in the game he plays... Not once has he complained about his character of choice not having good enough moves to win matches. So come on guys... lets us as a whole, get off our high horses... And just play the game as is. Even if you are one of those ones that are going to say things along the lines of "I will not buy the game if there is no rebalance"... Trust me... This game has been around for a decade... It has done with before you... And it can do well without you... Even years down the line when you have your own kids and they are playing street fighter, 3rd strike might still be around. Thank god there are other fighting games around that you can pick up as well just in case not getting your way on Sf is really catching up to you... But there is a high chance you will only continue to complain even abouat the rest.. If you are one that takes it all in stride.. Enjoy this game and future fighting games to come.. You deserve them. :)
NO RA_MO!!!
wall o'text
Anywho i think akuma vs gief in ST was a 10-0, granted akuma was banned :D
only fags and scrubs will want to rebalance the game.
Oh i get it pros played played the game for 10 years just so that capcom ruin the game for your beautiful eyes,f*uck you guys.
you have to know buff/nerf fags that there are no more rewarding feeling than to beat chun yun with necro/sean/oro.
tip from a Urien and Q player
@49
Lol sorry. Just the complaints are annoying at times lol, I know I complain to, but not really about the typical stuff here.
As for the Akuma vs Zangief matchup, at least what they show on HDR, its close but its not a clean sweep. 9-1 but that is still pretty bad. As for ST I guess it is 10-0 since I have not seen the tier list for that. But either way I still think he can win... Just too freaking hard for that bearkiller.
you are feeling really funny today, aren't you catalyst?
the audio is just ken's sf4 theme playing through the entire video.
#52 update
okay strange, when i watched the video on my phone, i only heard ken's theme.
apparently you could only hear the voices when you watch it on your computer...
People are right you know. You can use more than 7 characters in 3s. You just wont ever win at high lvl but I guess all the 3s scrubs dicking around with whoever in their basement wouldn't know. Wait hold on. How many of you own 3s already? And if you do why are excited about the same old game being rereleased again? Speaking from my stand point I played 3s for a long time and it gets boring so I'd like to see some rebalancing to spice it up.
"Citing feedback from the majority of the players that have been playing this game for a long time"
Nice to see them listening to people who actually played the game instead of know-it-all SF4 players who read a 3S tier list and suddenly think they know WTF they're talking about.
@58: I'm beginning to think you'll say that about anyone who doesn't agree with you...
@25 - ooorr ppl are just having a hard time letting go and moving on from the only game they're good at.chun yun and ken are too good when compared to the rest of the cast.only a handful (if that) are truly viable at the highest levels and the parry system does nothing for the chars that are truly horrible and incomplete (twelve & sean)
Look, I know that in the past communities had to deal with the character imbalances because of how tough it would be to update all machines to not split the community. But that was then and by today's standards we should expect updates and fixes, much like FPS games receive. That's how you keep a growing community interested.
Hope that doesn't mean some broken annoying things will be in the game, I missed SF3 so I have never played it and have no idea how it will be, but I want it.
