In an article done on Siliconera.com, Ono revealed that the entire roster for SFxT had been decided upon. Ono also talks about possible ports of it to the 3DS and the PC. Here's a snip from the interview.
What about the wrestlers like King? How did you translate his moves into Street Fighter x Tekken?
Ono: "That wasn’t necessarily as hard as you might think. Street Fighter has this reputation for being a game about projectiles, but if you really break down the roster – there are more characters without projectiles that there are with projectiles. There has always been grappling characters who get in your face with punches and throws, so I think wrestling characters fit right in."
"The one thing Tekken does differently is when you knockdown a character you can pummel them on the ground. I think we’re going to replicate that feel using the more traditional Street Fighter inputs. If you get a chance to play the build at Comic-Con, I think you will find King and [Craig] Marduk feel as you would expect them to."

In all seriousness I'm very hype for this game and hope the remaining characters don't get leaked like what happened with UMvC3. Regarding the character customization I would like to see something like changing various costume parts' colors. For example: Classic Ryu costume with a purple headband, white gloves, and a black gi.
Just don't put Cody or Guy and the two spots can be used for characters that will get picked.

I honestly hope they put characters that didn't make it in to SSF4, like Sodom, Necro, Sean etc. This is called Street Fighter X Tekken, not Street Fighter 4 X Tekken god damnit.
Don't worry guys there will most likely be either DLC or another version for this game with [1 character everyone wants], [1 character Capcom wants], and [2 characters no one wants at all but Capcom put them in anyway]
And the game will be at the reasonable price of $39.99. Don't worry, you'll only have to wait about 9 months for this version to come out after the original. =)

@ 38 - I dunno'. I somehow doubt R. Mika AND Gief would make it in (personally would rather see R. Mika out of the two, but Gief is more likely). With Hugo, Abel, King, and Marduk?

It reads more like a wishlist, althougha few of them do make sense (Makoto, Asuka and Lili are given IMO, and I'd be stunned if Jin didn't make it).
I so want that Bison/Juri team-up to be true - it clearly makes sense. Don't even care about Bison at all - I just want Juri in this game, dammit.
(If she's not there's plenty of characters I already want to play though. Definitely a pre-order for me.)
Humm just like Marvel vs capcom 3 last year, Niitsuma said the character roster was finalized about the same time this year.

how 6 grapplers outta 48 potential characters unusual? number can be padded up more if you would consider sodom a grappler too if you wanna call abel one. After that wrestling fight CG i would like to see more grapplers in.
Come to think about its ssf4 had about 3 main grapplers 3 semi grapplers, wouldnt be the first time.

@56, Oh, yeah I take that back The Street Fighter side lacks Elena the character I mained on SF3 that sucks. The Tekken side also lacks Eddie Gordo or Christie.

@ 53 - It is unusual. I was going to list Sodom myself but decided not to, since... I'm not even sure he counts as a grappler? I dunno' i haven't played Sodom since A2 (and I miss that guy, so fun to play lol).
Actually, SSF4 has 4 pure grapplers (Gief, T. Hawk, Abel, Hakan) and one semi-grappler (El Fuerte).
That's still 5 out of 39.
And to me, that is still kinda' unusual. Capcom's roster choices aren't usually that grappler-heavy - I expect that more from the Tekken and KOF series'. ;p
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying its a bad thing and I am ABSOLOTELY NOT going to complain if R. Mika AND Gief AND Hugo make it in. It just seems odd for so many grapplers to show up at once, particularly Gief and Hugo at the same time (Capcom seems to have a habit of picking Gief, Hugo OR Haggar and not putting them all in one game).
@ 59 - that's true too, some of the noticeably absent characters (Boxer, for example) may simply be in TxSF, which may somewhat explain their absence SFxT at the moment (aside from the main characters of course - Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, etc.).
Either way, I can't wait for more of this game's roster to be revealed (officially). As a huge, huge fan of both series, I have to say it's shaping up really nicely.
And, at the very least, Julia was revealed early! <3 Wonder if she'll have her "Jaycee" outfit as an alternate costume, lol.
i'm only worrying about my street fighter character(s) now lol. my tekken character was confirmed the moment the games existence was announced (kaz) lol, so i'm good there. everyone else on the tekken side has been cherries on top.
i'll be shocked if they include Vega (claw) in the game, but happy. hopefully he's made it... but with how he's been handled in the SF4 i wouldn't be surprised if he's not there.
#66 vega is definitely unique, so yeah, hopefully unique characters will be in the game. it'd be nice to see rolento in the game... i miss that dude. to hell with sodom, birdie, or any other alpha character (aside from cody and guy) if it comes down to choosing between rolento and them lol.

lol i never really considered abel a pure grappler, due to how his playstyle is(mix up/combo powerhouse) was considering him a semi one as i would el fuerte and E.honda. Of course classification is gonna vary between people. lol cant believe you forgot about honda, rocking that ochio (even in the ST days)which was a integral part of his game as tornado throw is to abel.
Cant really grasp your reasoning on how its unusual, its a big roster which usually bring about characters that like have damaging command throws. Alpha 3 had mika/birdie/sodom/gief/honda/hawk. ssf4^^. And now a 3rd game with a huge roster hopefully bringing about a small chunk of grapplers.
Meh either way tag team wrestling in my head, throw MOAR IN... WHERES MY ARMOR KING+mecha gief at? only in the mugen world >_<
@ 69 - Yeah, that's true as far as Honda, I guess I just never even consider him a grappler because of the headbutts. His command grabs seem more incidental.
By proxy though, if I say that about Honda, I guess I'd have to move Abel down to at least semi-grappler, lol.
Armor King... he's so damn awesome. I would LOVE to see him in this game but I figured he wouldn't make it. That dude is brutal as hell though.
That'd be a sick team - Mecha Gief and Armor King...
But man... if Gief and Hugo both make it in? I know a good friend of mine who will likely have a stroke. His official nickname now is "Soviet Damage" - dude just plays true grapplers in every game, lol.
Tager in BB is like, THE BEST thing that's ever happened to him. A grappler that can pull you in and has projectiles, and can do like 50% or more on a bad guess? My god.
He'll be all over this if that many grapplers get in... :)

the problem with vega is that his sf4 incarnation sucks. He needed to be more like super turbo vega, crazy wall dive mix ups/pressure with great pokes.

About the the unusual thing: I guess I'm still thinking in terms of smaller rosters back in the day, where there's like one grappler - maybe two on a good day. ;p
That and I'm probably thinking of Marvel, which has two grapplers (one that's a mix in She-Hulk) out of a roster of oh-god-they-keep-adding-characters-I-lost-count (what is it, 50 in UMvC3?).
Then again, that is MvC though lol. They don't seem to like grapplers much in that world. Poor Haggar...

haha yea, them russian portrayed in the games sure like to toss people around. Got gief, dragonov(tekken), tager, colossus and omega red(vs series)Soviet damage alright lol.
Yea not really much for pure grapplers in vs series. mvc3 got tron,haggar,thor,hulk,shehulk,sentinel,skrull all with brutal command throws. But pure grappler style i would just say thor and haggar and they both relatively suck :(
Yea smaller roster games tend to be lacking in grapplers for capcom fighters. think the most for smaller roster was 3s with 2 focused grapplers(alex/hugo) and the 2 lesser ones(Q,necro both have access to a grab super as well with a deadly command throw) 4/21.

Why the hell do you want all the original world warriors in the game when this is a crossover? Especially balrog who is easily subbed for dudley which is newer and makes balrog chances very slim. He already deconfirmed blanka so all the originals want make it in anyway. the majority of people don't want completely recycled sf4 roster..
@ 74 - Oh man, I completely forgot about Dragunov. He was supposedly "garbage tier" according to a lot of pro players locally in DR, but I'll be damned if my friend didn't destroy me with him.
Dragunov is slick. I wouldn't mind him showing up in SFxT or TxSF.
And yup lol, Russians love 'dem power grabs! That is what Capcom has taught me. I fully expect the next Russian person I meet to hit me with an SPD from across the room. ;p
You know, I still haven't figured out who I'm going to play in 3SO. Q's a grappler? Huh, didn't know that. Maybe I'll pick him and go completely left field (I rarely play grapplers, except mobile ones like El Fuerte or Ramon and Vice in KOF).
Back in the day I remember my friends and I thought Q SUUUUUCKED. Never gave him a try at all.

Yea dragonov was always a fun character to use, and psh at tier lists dont matter in casuals. As his fake out to grabs always work on the friends.
And about Q, not a true grappler, but setting up and comboing after his command grab has ALOT of mileage. Its just as important as his dash punches if not more. As a setup with his Capture and deadly blow(command grab) into ex rush punch> F+HK DOES a crap ton of damage. Q is a bit sucky but does beefy damage and can take hits better than any other.
Yea KOF good variety on grappler styles. O. yashiro was a good mobile one, clark was one of my favs, shermie and hinako as female grapplers, and many others. Guess it what happens when you grow up watching wrestling not knowing any better LOL

She wasn't fully deconfirmed. All Ono said was it's difficult to bring her in. Nothing more. Although it hinders her chances of getting in.

I dont consider Abel a pure grappler, he's def. a semi-/hybrid. His command grab is important, but;
1. He only has one command grab
2. His step kick / Combo / COD game is very very important as well.
3. He has way more regular specials that have different purposes. Gief/Thawk have several C. grabs and only one different type special (Shoryukens, lariat/green hand)
He is def. my fav. grappler, Gief/Hawk are so boring to fight. But cool its finalized lets hope they have some good surprises
That list would be perfect if only it had Alex / Urien and Lei Wulong / Eddy (Christie). I sure hope Alex makes this game so I can rock the team of Alex / Abel or I'm going to be a sad Panda. Here's hoping to dlc characters.
I got Steve Fox in, that's more than enough for me. Would like to see Adon, but i still got Sagat and well we know either Balrog or Dudley will be in to complement Steve.
P.S. Stop saying Abel is a grappler, "grapplers" are characters who's whole game play revolves around his/her command grab in which case would be Abel's TT which is not part of his main strategy. HE IS NOT A GRAPPLER!! Oh and Falling Sky is an anti air, not a command grab you CAN'T combo into command grabs in SF.

These 2 games go wayyy back and so do they.
There's no way they are gonna put in more than one Bruce Lee clone.They are saving their clone spots for shotos. Same goes with any type of similar character both franchises share. So don't expect to see both Honda and Ganryu or Elena and Christie. But at least one sumo and capoeira representative should be in this game.

I partially explained it to him in my previous posts about his hybrid grappler status, But there are some odd things you say tho.
Your #3 thing:
Thawk only have 1 command grab as well, outside his super and ultra.
And abel has one grab ultra(breathless). And also the grabs tacked onto the end of his COD chain(not the same i know)
And how you say they have 1 other type of special then name 2 different one for gief, and thawk has a DP, condor spire and condor dive which all work differently.

the original person that called him a pure grappler changed his view point already, we was just discussing things. But falling sky is considered a command grab, as it has a grabbing status like other throws. Also el fuerte has his guacamole leg throw which can also be comboed into. And hugo has anti-air grab that can be comboed into and a super version as well. Vega ex sky dive. So yea it does happen in SF games and more than one time. The likes of ibuki and oro hit grabs arent true command grabs.
