Ono: I actually get a lot of requests for Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat on my Twitter feed and elsewhere. I understand why people want it, but it’s easier said than done. Having Chun Li getting her spine ripped out, or Ryu’s head bouncing off the floor….it doesn’t necessarily match.
But I’ve had a couple of dream projects in my head for a while, one being Street Fighter X Tekken, which is actually coming true. Another would be a Marvel vs DC game which would be pretty damned cool if we could ever pull it off. I’m a big comic-book fan.
Now if I can get the presidents of those two companies in the same room shaking hands, then we could get something started. I’d love to see that just as a fan!
PSB: It’s got to be tough to combine two radically different fighters; Tekken couldn’t be more different from Street Fighter. What were some ideas you had early on the process that you had to discard?
Ono: There was one feature that we gave up on, but then we brought it back: the Cross Rush combos. When you think of Tekken, it’s always been about aggression and in-your-face combos; dodging a move and then letting the opponent have it. The long Tekken combo strings…we thought, should we put them all in SF X Tekken? At first we thought, should we put them all in there? But if we did, we’d just be making a Tekken game. But we couldn’t take them all out, either, because there wouldn’t be much Tekken-ness left.
So we decided that the Cross Rush would be a good way to mix them together. You have that feel of rapid combos from Tekken, but it still feels like Street Fighter…or more precisely, a bit more Darkstalkers. But it’s sufficiently Capcom-y, so to speak. So the Cross Rush serves as a bridge between the two gameplay styles. It fits in there pretty nicely.

To me it seems that they've totally integrated the feel of Tekken Tag and Project Justice. Now he compares it to Darkstalkers?

Harada has already said "his version will play like a Tekken game", I can't help but feel that both games are going to play like Tekken.

I really don't want to wait for Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter because it's the worst idea. However, I'm still looking for Mortal Kombat vs. BlazBlue to exist. for the BlazBlue side to have Astralities, Scorpion vs. Ragna the Bloodedge, and Sub Zero vs. Jin Kisaragi to be exact because of the icy abilities.
I wonder if Arc System Works is going to make a BlazBlue: Jin Kisaragi Mythologies?

IMO SF vs MK would be a horrible idea, the clash of artistic styles and character designs wouldn't blend whatsoever.
I love both games separately and they should stay that way.
I'm curious enough how TXSF will fair trying to alter street fighter characters to represent more a 'realistic' look of models, only way i can imagine is adding a dark gritty tone across the SF cast.
I hope SF vs MK never happens... that sounds like a horribly stupid idea in my opinion. omg i cant begin to describe how bad I think that idea is.... BUT if Marvel vs Dc ever happened... Marvel VS DC would be so dope! Think of all the matchups: Superman VS Thor, Darkseid VS Hulk, Spiderman VS The Flash, Lex Luthor VS Iron Man, Batman VS Wolverine, Green Lantern VS Silver Surfer, etc.
Under Niitsuma, it could be like your typical VS game, while if Ono did it, he could do it KoF team elimination style. Mano e Mano. Although it would probably be better served as your typical VS game. I'd be happy with either direction.

You mean Green Lantern vs Nova? And Darkseid vs Thanos? And Batman vs Black Panther? And I don't know about Superman vs Thor, because Superman might not be able to fly anymore soon. Maybe Superman vs Captain America might work better? Lex Luthor vs Iron man would be a little weird too. The Atom vs Ant Man? Aquaman vs Namor? I'd seriously just be happy for DC vs Capcom.
I guess Ono doesn't want to get people's hopes up against Nintendo vs Capcom anymore.

Honestly, it's hard to see MK mixing with anything too well. Certainly was very strange seeing MK and DC together (and it wasn't.... particularly well done either).

it would be awesome to see zangief do a pile driver fatality and the opponent explodes to flying bones and guts. Show Akuma doing the raging demon. Ryu shin shoryuken head blows up. Guile flash kick split opponent in half vertical. Theres kinda potential but it can be corny if done wrong.

While the thought of capcom making a marvel vs dc game is awesome, I actually like for them to try and make and crossover game with sega. I mean imagine it Sonic, Bayonetta, and Wren (Phantasy Star4) vs Megaman, Dante, and Captain Commando.

I don't think SF vs MK is a bad idea. Both franchises have cool characters. i think the problem would be the fatalaty thing. But Fatalaties don't need to be a selling point for Mk fans, only for the gorn freaks. Under Capcom's supervision, it could turn out pretty good if they implement the right mechanics, hell they can leave fatalities out. But the idea of Scorpion vs. Akuma or Cammy vs. Sonya.... that would be dope.
Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat is the most f*cking retarded idea ever. They just don't match and if it ever gets done outside of fan fiction I would lose all hope for humanity.
Marvel vs DC however is definitely an awesome idea. I would love to see that.

MvC3 used to be a semi-serious fighter until he joined the roster. Now we are supposed to believe a guy that has no powers or abilities. (Batman has abilities/tools) mixing it up in UMVC3.
MvDC EASILY works by comparison to putting a regular dude in the game that gets an adrenaline rush and knocks down a door...ONCE!

#6 He's talking about the fighting game engine. A Quick Dodge was never in Tekken, not in the same sense as your thinking. Thats an exclusive SNK type move and would be more CvS than SFxT. Tekken characters already have a sorta dodge system. Fireballs in this game are kind of pointless unless in combo enders if you look at the video. This ain't SFIV.
Having a RAGE MODE "only" for Tekken characters would unbalance the game and a lot of people hate the Rage Mode in Tekken. Also they already said there is not gonna be any Comback mechanics in this game.
Costumes for SfxT would take FOREVER! You can expect this game to come out after next year to implement costumes. If you recall, it takes a long time for a Tekken game to come out even in Japan. It would lose it's hype quick.
A Marvel vs DC would be cool...they did a crossover comic series awhile ago, and since all companies are looking for ways to cross promote and make $$$ of their IP's, I believe with the success of the MvC series (not hardly no success of the MKvsDC game) DC would consider letting Capcom do a Marvel vs DC game.
As for SFvMK, yea, on paper it sounds cool, but it wouldn't be practical...maybe if it used the over the top MvC/TvC type engines, not the SSF4 one.

@6 Don't be stupid, this is SFxT, not TxSF. it's supposed to be SF with Tekken elements added to it, even though it already looks like it's very different from SF.
Being a new fan to street fighter (my first game was four) and a long time fan of tekken i have to say i am very excited about this game i preordered it in january and i will love it to death. I have mixed feelings about mortal kombat vs street fighter i dont think it would be the best game in the world but if i see it and it looks good chances are ill get it. I do remember though that one project capcom was looking into was capcom vs. nintendo which is what i think he meant by i have some in mind and he probably couldnt talk about nintendo on a playstation site and i also agree with th ones who said that they should have a capcom vs snk 3 its been years since we have seen one and 2 was one of my favorites for the gamecube
