I like the Zhi guy, never knew nothing about him before... but seems like a strong bond between american and asian cultures. Not only because of his mastering of japanese, english and maybe chinese, mostly because of his cool personality and concern for the community. Also he gave very good analysis of the events surrounding Fuudo and the japanese team.
Hope we keep on keep informed about this people, and we need Gootecks to learn some japanese too lol.
I really enjoyed this interview, he deserves this exposure he's so humble. Too many people were under the impression that Mago's Fei was untouchable and here's Fuudo all along hiding his stuff.
Latif carves his way through Daigo, Poongko and Tokido at which point Fuudo shrugs his shoulders and goes "Aight dude, you asked for it".
Love this guy, bring him back next year!
Nice seeing Fuudo getting some love. Most of the buzz has been about Latif and his killing spree of Daigo, Poongko, and Tokido, or Poongko and his Seth, or Daigo finally losing, but not enough has been about the man who won the whole god damn thing. Congrats to Fuudo.
I don't really like Fei, I think he is the second best and would probably be the first on a skillful level, Yun just gets more people crying because he is pretty easy to learn and ridiculous. Fuudo is an amazing player though, and I really can't take anything away from the guy. Great performance, and well done
Crazy personalities at evo,
Daigo=Silent
Fuudo=Shy
Latif=Happy
Poongko=Crazy
Tokido=Cool
Kindevu=Fat
WolfKrone=Serious
Flash Metroid=Smiling
Kayo police=?????
that intro made me extremely uncomfortable. supreme gayness.
@16
fat is an adjective...
but yes the top 8 of this year were all awesome in their own way
@10 humble? I thought he said he didn't respect any other players lol
lol these crosscounter asia guys are really funny, gonna check out their future stuff from now on
its freaking awesome that zhi is good at so many languages
Big fan of both Zhi and Fuudo now. Great showing, and Cross Counter Asia has potential
@15 and @16
Kindevu's a f-ckin God. He took out Wolfkrone and then said to the audience: "Whut now motherf-ckers!!!"
@5
I thought that he was going to get #3, with Poongko as #1 and Daigo as #2.
I knew right off the bat that he was definitely top 3 after he bodied Wolfkrone. The match where he bodies Wolfkrone also makes me think that he may soon surpass Mago as the top Fei of the planet.
After all, he did beat Mago just around a week or so ago at some small scale Japan tournament.
The reason Mago is considered the best is because of his reputation and #1 ranked Feillong in Bps. Yet as we all know, it probably just means he spend more time at the arcade than Fuudo. Spending more time does not necessarily mean better. I actually became a fan of Fuudo as soon as he defeated Daigo in Cannes tourney in Ryu mirror match. Right there he proved he was the best Ryu in the world. However, after that he just disappeared. Did not see him in Super, until finally I noticed a random video of him maining as FeiLong. Didn't think too much of it but I should have known better. Now a fan of his again. Just hoping he doesn't go disappearing again, lol.
The translation was not 100% accurate all the time. Fuudo was not saying that he "bodied" Daigo or that he doesn't respect anyone. He said things like he had the advantage in the Daigo game center matches recently and, at worst case, he will be 50/50, so he's confident. Also, he says that he doesn't seem anyone is out of reach - EVEN HIMSELF (that's the intention of what was said but the guy's question isn't well put together). Later he says he really is impressed by Daigo and Iyo - Iyo because of how smart he plays. I just wanted to point out that, although he isn't easily impressed, he is very respectful and humble.
Something to note is that he emphasizes that there is a lag - on the pools and even more so on the main stage. But in his room, there's no lag - so it maybe all of the cords. <This might explain the combo drops from Tokido and Daigo in their matches...maybe...
They should have edited the vid so it doesn't show them talking in Japanese. Majority of the people watching this can't speak Japanese anyways so it's a waste of time.
The interview that Gootecks did of Poongko after Shadowloo Showdown was a lot better.
and concerning the Viper part- he says that in Japan (where he is i guess) there aren't many Vipers so he didn't have a Viper gameplan. He says Mago is really good at Viper matchup, better than himself, so he just generally asked for some tips. Mago explained to him how to fight Vipers to win.
The translation was accurate but, again, the translator pumped Fuudo up where Fuudo was actually pretty humble.
His translation of Xian fight was NOT right. The fight with Xian, he said that Yun vs Fei is hard for Fei in general. Fuudo says that after the first game he realized that Xian was a wait/react Yun play style (opposite of japanese Yun rushdown) - so he said he played a wait style too and fought that way.
@32
Is there where people can look up the win ratios of Fuudo and Mago in SSF4-AE? But more specifically, is there a place that displays a track record of Fuudo's wins/loses versus the top pros and that of Mago's.
Because you do make a good point that Mago being the #1 ranked Fei in world is merely because he plays more on arcades.
I've always had a fishy feeling about the BPs on arcades for the same matter.
@32
I ask because comparing and contrasting Mago's and Fuudo's sets against Wolfkrone really set off an alarm for me.
I mean, Fuudo BODIED Wolfkrone while Mago got eliminated by him. Not to mention the fact that Fuudo remained in Winners through the whole entire thing while Mago got eliminated FAR too early than suspected for someone with such high reputation.
@#40 At ReveLAtions Mago barely beat Wolfkrone but he completely destroyed Latif, so it's not too surprising he barely lost to 'Krone this time.
Pretty sure Mago would have made top 8 if he had used Fei against Justin. Not sure why he stuck with Sagat, especially after losing the 1st match pretty convincingly.
The reason he get called fuudo, always wearing that hood jacket..

Fuudo is awesome. It's nice to see a champ who is so humble and shy, and not "I'M THE BEST IN THE WORLD BITCHES!" like some of the the other competitors.
@42: That's what he said exactly.
Damn this Zhi guy is good, his pronounciation is so good! I bet he can speak some Chinese too. Kinda like me in a way haha.
@42
LOL. Look at Fuudo's picture 3 years back, he looked more like a girl than Tatsu. He actually looks like a male now. haha.
Amazing how not many people knew him and he wasn't favorite at all. Yet he is the new champ.
