AndriaSang.com translated some details relevant to fighting game fans in a recent Dengeki PlayStation magazine write up.• Regarding Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, there are no plans to add additional characters to the recently announced home version.
• For Street Fighter X Tekken, Capcom is looking into the possibility of adding the option for an easy command mode.

i hope they dont do an easy mode. I think sf4 is as casual friendly as they need to get.
i played sf2 turbo a few days ago and was surprised at how much stricter the timing for combos seemd to be compared to 4. Devs have baby'd casual gamers too much over the past decade- rather than making it easier for them, they need to find a way to entice them to put more effort into learning the game/s.
It still doesn't confirm we're only getting 4 characters. It just means that we're not getting any more characters that aren't already on the disc.
I mean, unless something drastically changes, the character select screen will look sorta awkward with just 4 slots added.
It's possible the 4 we see are the only ones we get, but I don't think it's that likely. Waiting game time.
Sweet. No extra characters in AE and easy inputs for SxT. They definitely know how to please the people.
omg... i knew this would happen, easy command mode? this is gonna be a VERY noob friendly game, im not a big fan of tag fighters, and i dont like tekken, allthought i liked the look of this when it was first announce, everything they announce now is bad news... *sigh* looks like SSFIVAE is gonna have to last me a lonnnnnng time
No new characters is dissappointing when you consider Ono said characters that didnt make the cut for sf4 would be in SFxT. The game is using the same engine as SF4, it wouldnt be too hard to put them in AE after theyve been done for SFxt.
@5
i cant agree more. But consider this, with a simple option for the controls that could mean that they would take out the shortcuts/soft inputs for the regular mode(i really really hope they do). ALl i want is a option to search/create lobbies with the simple inputs locked off.
The only difficult motions in the sf titles have been the dragon punch motion and the 360/720 motions. Dp's can eventually learned with time(a simple in game tutorial can really help with this) but the 360/720s could just take the hdr approach and change it to half circle with a forward/back motion.
With all the nerfs CAPCOM dished out, they effectively removed characters...
Also, I've never used simple mode, nor do I care for it, but is it really that much of a big deal to include it in SFxTekken? I can't see it selling well regardless, so what's the harm?
($$ = what they do
How the average gamer enjoys fighters:
Wtf? How'd the computer do that? Wow, Maximum Wesker looks like a cool move?
Hm, simple mode? WOAH RYU CAN DO SHINKUU HADOKEN!
WOW GALACTUS! Omg, he totally killed me!
*Trades in game and/or purchases new game, moves onto next week/month's releases*
SFxT will have simple mode or some form of 'simple'. And I still think it'll have a comeback mechanic, somehow.
BTW QQ NO NEW CHARS IN AE QQ!)
Ono is trolling purposely due to Evil Ryu and ONi hack. He will add two more characters. Plus, I'll never forget his tweet when he discovered that ONi and E.Ryu were unlocked. He was like, "oh, so any ideas for the next two characters? Or something along those lines...Yea, they don't have plans...(Igydigital winks at Ono)
This doesn't really mean anything. The statement is pretty gray.
Considering Capcom is using their budget to deal with SxT and 3rd Strike: OE, they might not have the resources for more characters right now. But there is nothing to dictate whether or not we get them in the future, it's all up for grabs (depending on the demand).
As for simple mode, it's because Capcom is trying to spread their wings. The more people they want to bring into fighting games, the more they have to dumb it down. A lot of people either just suck at fighting games or don't want to put effort in to learn things (how many people do you know that enjoy learning math for example)?
@24: They're not using their budget or much of their time on 3SOE. All they're doing is applying the SF4 netcode and one filter that 99% of the players will immediately remove.
Let's be real. How many of the people who want Karin, Elena, Mika, Rolento have used them in their respective games?
How many people have really used Elena in 3S or Mika in A3? How many people will just try them out before going back to Ryu, Ken, Yun, Yang, etc.?
Even though we are getting 4 new characters it only really feels like 2 to me. I thought they would atleast add in Rolento, Elena, Alex, and Karin with all the fan support.
C'mon... Now the character screen looks incomplete with two missing spots... Now what are they suppose to put there now? Two random select spots?? On top of that your making us pay 14.99 for DLC and maybe 40 for a new disc? The price for DLC should be 9.99 and for a new disc should be 30. Capcom you make good games but when it comes to expansions or DLC for a game your really slick....
in polls of capcom-unity Karin appears FIRST option, OK i could say that R.Mika and Rolento is not necessary only i know that Ono-san always wanted put R.MIka i rolento.. but i think that Karin,ALEX and Elena are better characters than alot of characters of SSF4
@yugo
Then again, how many people are really going to main Karin, Elena, R. Mika, etc. compared to Yun, Yang, Oni, and Evil Ryu?
Juri is a cool character, but besides trying her out the first day, how many people are really using her? Capcom are putting in characters that they know people are really going to use as opposed to characters people want in, but aren't really going to really use besides trying them out the first day.
Really...15 and possibly 20 bucks for 4 new characters??ah nah,it doesn't make since to charge that much,we're not paying for balance updates(since it's free)we're being troll'd when it comes to info about extra chars -_-
@Jerry:
yes i know that the people only plays with shotos.. but really is necessary evil ryu or akuma? there are people playing with alot of characters.. i have more points with Rufus or Makoto(About 4000) than Ken..Karin is like Feilong.. maybe Karin could be in the top player because one of most player of the world use FEILONG (PLAYER NAMED ''MAGO'')
There will be at least two more. Ono is just trolling. Technically there is room for 6 more.
@Remster
The shortcuts messes up execution. There were countless times when I've tried to do a Super or Ultra, but an EX or regular Shoryuken would come out instead of the move I wanted. Yet, this problem doesn't exist on games without shortcuts like A3, HDR, and 3S.
Okay, this was the last straw. I've seriously had it with Capcom. They do nothing but tease, tease, tease, and tease, then leave out the content they tease. They won't put forth the effort to finish Frank West, more than 4 lazy SSF4 characters, or even Mega Man Universe. All they care about at this point is the money and I'm seriously getting sick of it.
What was the point in adding Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu and Oni? The twins are broken, and the other 2 are going to be the most spammed characters in fighting game history. Boy, if you thought Ryu was bad, wait until you see how many cheap 11 year olds ruin online with generic bad guy Ryu! It's like they just created characters they knew people would use. The wrong KIND of people. :/
Don't get me wrong, guys. They can still make excellent games. But they try way too hard to bring your hopes up and then let them crash down. I really hate having to use the stupid term "troll", but it's really the only word that can be used here.
yea they didnt have any plans for releasing an arcade release, then there was an arcade release.
There werent any plans to release AE to consoles and then they announced they would.
There arent any plans for Super Marvel vs Capcom 3 but there will be.
There arent any plans for additional characters in AE but there will be.
Lmfao, I personally am extremely happy that they aren't giving us anymore characters for now. You cheap b*tches always expect anything and everything that never had any sort of backing other than your wishful speculation. Then you go and cry like a community full of children when they let your dumb as*es know to stop the over looking because you just let yourself down, AGAIN. I never ask for sh*t and I patiently wait like all of us are supposed to do, and despite CAPCOM dropping the ball slightly with Gouki's 2nd Ultra, for the most part I am usually given all I can want from them let alone what I should expect. If you just listen to them, all of the info of what we are getting is told well in advance. If they refuse to bring certain things up again, leave it alone until they decide to. BUT I WANT IT NOW! Shut the f*ck up and get your hands on the game BEFORE you b*tch. Oni will destroy all anyway.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO HAVE AN EASY COMMAND MODE. GAMES HAVE ALWAYS HAD CERTAIN JOYSTICK AND BUTTON SEQUENCES THAT YOU NEED TO LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME EFFECTIVELY. A QCF or QCB is easy enough as it is, and that's all you need to pick up a game like street fighter or tekken (although tekken is more about what punch or kick sequence you input). An easy command mode would only be needed if you plan on babies playing the game. BABIES. And I'm pretty sure most babies can't even turn on a console. And there's already an easy command mode for turning on consoles. So, there actually is no reason to put an easy command mode in. On the DS it made sense because of the placement of the buttons and the nature of the platform. How is three punch buttons and three kick buttons not simple enough. How can anyone find that HARD? If you can't handle that, you probably can't even handle finding your way out of bed in the morning. You can't handle dialing a phone. You can't handle typing on a computer. You can't handle eating a sandwich. You can't handle drinking out of a cup. You probably can't even handle writing your name. Yes, I AM saying that if you can't handle the simple concepts of three punch buttons and three kick buttons you are most likely illiterate. Jesus, easy command mode is such a god damn waste of time.
A couple things...
AE really wasn't going to happen. Super was the planned end of SF4. AE happened due to fan demand. And Capcom had to be elusive about a console release to give arcades a chance to actually make money off AE.
Capcom never promised you 6 characters. That was a rumor that this site in particular pushed hard, but never had any reason to be true. Capcom never promised anything in terms of new characters. And Capcom didn't ignore fan demand when it came to AE characters - these characters were decided long before you even know AE was going to exist. Anyone who knows anything about game development could tell you that.
Instead of demanding more character for a game that already has almost 40, you should be using your voices to demand things like better netcode and game modes. Mortal Kombat raised the bar for modes but Capcom isn't going to care if all they see is that bare-bones MvC3 sold well, and the major fan feedback is concerned solely with characters.
You should all learn to listen to me.
how many punks you think are gonna go back to ryu once they get sunned out? ye, the whole "people will play r.mika/alex/rolento a bit then go back to ken/akuma/fei long" doesnt hold as much weight does it? least youll get more diverse play styles.
I can only imagine when you get to 39, balancing is a pain, but id still prefer 1 other char over e.ryu/oni. having more diverse playstyle characters would be fun.
lol there also was no plan for AE home edition
Now we all know that Karin and Elena is coming to AE lol
Why is an african stage in SSFIV it sure isn't balrog's stage lol and sakura mentions Karin in one of her win quotes,Im talkin these as hints as they are already developed and just waiting to be announced at E3 as DLC lol
As long as there is an option to choose between easy mode and normal mode for inputs, I'm fine with it.
Concerning SSF4:AE, the thing that pisses me off the most is that people who don't buy the update don't get the character balances at all. What if I don't want the new sh!tty characters? There should have been a middle ground here for people only interested in the character balances.
That being said, I'm not spending a dollar more on ssf4.
P.S Who asked for E.Ryu and Oni anyways? Doesn't ssf4 have its fair share of shotos already? Now you wanted more? Un-fu(king-real.
@Oracle: No Wai Bro! lol
Juri was a very...hated character, even more than Hakan. But watch ShinAkuma's channel. There is a very good player on his channel who mains Juri and she's starting to get more love (I fight more Juri's online than say Gen/Hakan/Dan). As long as they are GOOD, people will play with them. Though I think Alex would be better than Elena because she's so much more unique...
People who play Abel and Gief could probably get on better with someone like Alex or Hugo.
I've never used Ryu or Ken, because they get stale. I like to be diverse and I look for a challenge.
As for the tutorial in MK...a tutorial is not the same thing as making everything easy. A good tutorial should teach anyone the basics, without babying them.
But Capcom won't do that, they've gotten a taste of the blood like a shark in the water.
I hope they mean no more after the possible 2 that are needed to even out the character select screen, I hope we get more diverse characters and not any lazily designed shoto-variations.
Look at everyone trying to read between the lines, clinging on to rumors, and refusing to believe the truth. We're not getting 6 more, or 2 more, or your favorite character that is not in the game.
39 characters is enough. The team that worked on SF4 and all of its renditions is now focusing completely on SFxT, that's why we're not getting any more content for SF4.
@Jerry
I completely agree with you about shortcuts, but if we made that an option in game instead of a standard things would work out great. We shouldn't remove the easy stuff altogether, or it can alienate a casual player base, which is a good reason why these games are successful.
Actually I don't understand how you can hate the shortcut system? Well, first I did hate it too, I mean it was pretty ridiculous (Im from Switzerland so excuse my grammar). You could buffer two DPs and get a super right? But after some thinking and some training you should know how you input a srk without getting a super or vice versa... The only thing, that happens to me now, related to the shortcuts, is that if I Cannon Spike fat chars with Cammy and I buffered the DP.. I get a super caused of negative edge and short cuts combined lol
To the general hurr durr elena and back to Ryu / Ken bullsh!t.
Actually I play Cammy, Sakura and Makoto. Cammy as a main BUT since Vanilla. I didn't expect her to be High / Top tier in this game... What I wanna say, I'm one of those crazy guys who pick a character and learn it, until its decent. Karin for example, maybe I won't use Karin at a tournament but I'd still use her as much as possible. I LOVE SAKURA, even if she sucks sometimes xD
I think there are enough people playing wacky characters. I know a Dan player with about 4800PP or something and he mains Dan, I actually lose to his Dan lol BUT he was and is a R.Mika main in A3. So yea guys there ARE players who actually play those characters. Just play less ranked mode O:
y does it seem like capcom are purposely killing the hype for there fighting games ?
your telling me i have to pay 14.99 for balance changes and 4 characters im probably not going to use just so i can continue to play other people -_- yh... i think AE's done for me
easy mode for sfxt? why? why would they add something unnecessary when they could improve the game further?
MK9 is looking more and more appealing by the day
Here comes the easy mode for SFxTekken. Well I understand it's relaly for casual players, I don't care, it don't work for MvC3 it won't work for SFxTekken. Let them have it.
@49 You can still play SSFIV with people who have AE you just can't play with all the features so if you really on the wall about paying for DLC then don't, im sure there will still be people playing SSFIV.
@75 I have a strong feeling all characters that were wished for in SFIV AE will be in SFxTekken, characters like Karin, Rolento, Elena will make it simply because those characters are a match for many characters in Tekken like Lili, Brian, and Eddie Gordo.
Evil Ryu,Oni,Yun,Yang...and Juli and Juni.
See the pattern here.We need 2 girls(clones) to round up the character select screen.I can see this happening.
Really they only added 1 character, as the twins share same model and shotos share models...just different moves. That will be 8 shotos with these "new characters" added. Why not have a twin for everyone and market 35 new characters!!!!!!! Stupid
@#78
I find ranked better for variety. But I also think it depends what PP you are (and you're searching more skilled)
It's incredible how many people still just cannot accept that the console version of AE will not have more characters.
I can't wait til it comes out so I can post my Chun-li-on-fire gif and once and for all prove that that wasn't Alex or Urien or R. Mika or anyone else.
geni #36> I totally agree with you 150% Capcom are lazy bastards, 4 characters are NOT enough
GrimmajawJin #66> no kidding!!! Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma are weak, Yun and Yang are OK due to the fact they were in Chun Li's prologue in Original SF4 and ending SSF4
Raven #69> I totally wanted Alex so bad in this game, I wanna know why the Hell Alex is not in SSF4AE? The supposedly main character from Street Fighter 3 not appearing in Street Fighter 4 is so odd and bizarre
caruga #71> I was gonna say Capcom needs to get to the bottom of this but is this the link you're looking for?
@88
In reality we didnt need anymore character, when they needed to do was balance up(honestly now nothing needed nerfing) and make every single character tournament worthy.
chickenwings> get a life, 4 isn't good enough and Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma should have been saved for last or at least pallete swap.
I don't think capcom is lazy they just view things differently.AE is really unbalance compared to super maybe this was a move to get more people to hop on street fighter x tekken when it came out or stop counterpicking which is what happens when a game is too balanced.
Honestly I don't see why people would want the imbalance changes.The download gives you the option of playing the more balanced super than AE.For those that only want the replay option. This is unprecedented.If they removed the twins and nerfed fei it would be different.Atleast kept the high tiers the same and buff the low tiers.I would not be mad if it was not for the fact that capcom balances the game for scrubs instead of having a balanced game.I am just not going to buy it.
@91
Yea, add more characters that will be ignored on the character select screen. good idea.
ANd evil/oni made it into the game not because of laziness, but because capcom actually listened to the idiots and added them, i cant count how many times i have seen them mentioned on multi forums over the course of sf4.
@67
thats all pretty biased. what makes you think more people like e.ryu/oni and want them over r.mika/alex/etc.? ya, in that respect it would be a waste, but where are these numbers coming from?
from my personal experience, every thread on every forum ive read has said "what!?! e.ryu an oni? how about R.Mika/alex/rolento/etc.?" in all honesty, i've seen one that said "cool, i mained e.ryu in alpha". ONE! and of course tons "twins are op!"/"looks like capcom took a cue from dragonball".
your browsing experience been diferent?
So many salty comments. Crying about the characters that are in, crying about those that are not. Moaning about balance, moaning about lack thereof. What cracks me up about that one is that many of the people that whine have not played AE yet, but are already complaining about the balance. B!tching about the inclusion of a simple mode you don´t have to use in a game you don´t have to buy when it comes out(though, many of us will do so anyway).
Your favorite character didn´t make it in? Boohoo, deal with it and move on. The beauty of the current times is that we have so many choices. MK raised the bar? then go and play MK. You don´t like all these shotos? Well, maybe you should be playing Tekken 6, MvC3, Blazblue CS or anything else that strikes your fancy.
I can live with AE being just these 4 characters, but I have heard Capcom saying these words before and still change their minds, we´ll see. I do know that it´s not the end of the world whatever they decide to do.
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/25...
The flaming Trollno mystery character was Chun-Li. Yang does not crouch like that.
@xShonuffx
SSF4 is dead. The thing is i want those balance changes but the way capcom forces you to buy them with 4 characters is ridiculous, why not just give us a free AE patch and dlc characters that can be bought? that would be so much simpler, its not like they don't get money this way, if anything there putting people off SF in there current way of doing things, I no I wont be buying AE unless theres more characters or stages because 14.99 for the current AE is not worth it IMO.
@Geniuzz
i still really don't understand why there putting in easy mode, do you know what they could do with the time it took to make that? it doesn't even matter if im not going to play easy mode because we all know they could something much better than that.
I'm really against the idea of game sharing but looks like that option is looking pretty good right now.
They should just make SF:Shoto Edition because they cant seem to not be able to make a game without 10% of the cast being pretty much the same. I know Yun/Yang play different but they are THE SAME MODEL. They really only added 1 new character to this game.
@Vandal_Vortex
I hear you, it does take time and resources, which could have been used to do something else. The thing is, easy mode is not appealing to you or me, it's for the many casual game buyers,and they represent a lot of money. So in Capcom's mind those resources and the time invested in easy mode is well worth it. A feature that maybe 100.000 hardcore players would appreciate would make them less money in comparison, so they might be reluctant to invest in something like that.
The bottom line is that they hope to attract lots of new players to SFXT and easy mode is so that even newbies feel that they have access to the awesome looking combos and such. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I am just not going to use it.
Besides, there are several 'easy modes' in other genres as well. I really don't see what the big deal is.
@96 You almost have me convinced. Just get closer and remove the pause menu. I'm almost positive it will be Karin/Lili and Elena/Christie in SFxT so there is no reason to fuss. As for simple mode. Do any of you have the slightest idea how hard it is to teach a new player to play? Let alone how frustrating it is to not be able to do a single special move. You have clearly underestimated the difficulty for someone new. AE is lacking in characters but no one is forcing you to buy it.
All, I have to say about this AE is .......*YAWN*. Does anyone still play SF anymore?
For me the one of the best parts of adding more characters to SF4 is all the new match-ups. Saving them for another game means that they won't be able to fight against the roster of existing SF4 characters. I don't care if some characters get used less. That just it makes it that much better when I fight that rare Hakan online. If there is interest from enough people who are willing to pay for whatever reason, they should keep adding more characters.
On the other hand, I don't think the "holes" in the character select screen or on the website mean anything. This really may be the end for new SF4 characters. Not because they said so but because it seems that capcom is moving on to other projects... but just one more time...
Karin and Urien for SF4!
@GigaGilgamesh
Do any of you have the slightest idea how hard it is to teach a new player to play? Let alone how frustrating it is to not be able to do a single special move. You have clearly underestimated the difficulty for someone new.
That's the problem....it's not hard to do a special move. D, DF, F + Punch and there goes a hadouken. The hard part is actually learning how to outsmart your opponent so you can win, it really has nothing to do with how the game is played because any basic gamer can easily figure it out.
I'm still hoping for Elena. I'll keep hoping for DLC Elena, too, and that they change their minds.
Alex needs to be in this game, the game seems so incomplete without him.
I promise and guarantee if they do change their minds and add Alex, this game will bring new life guaranteed!!
SpinRyu> I'm not giving up either
I'm perfectly fine with easy command mode. It's easier to pull of specials but IMPOSSIBLE to play at a descent level. If people really want to learn how to play good, it's inevitable they do it the right way. Using an easy mode is a waste of time in that case. And make good practice for those who DO learn properly.
One of my mates tried playing streetfighter 4 at what I would call an average level. He decided he couldn't be bothered with it (cos it cheats) lol. He won't play anymore but my point is that if he really wanted to get better and into it an easy command mode MIGHT help but if ya don't put the time in or enough effort to learn about a game then just go play FIFA or COD
How disappointing. I was expecting 6 new characters for AE, instead of the 4 that we got.
