There's a much longer video after the jump showing Akuma's ability to do the same thing.
Weird, Goggles comes to this site too? heh, go figure. Well, whatever, I guess I'll see him around sometime...
...oh right, article. I think it's weird that projectile invulnerability hypers negate all of the beam. I can understand if it was negating a few hits, but it's a continuous stream of energy half the time. Whatever happened to reality?
I don't know if you guys notice it, but it has something to do with the first hits of those attacks. I don't know about viper, but if you watch the second video, you can clearly see Akuma still being hit, during the second strike. I have the guide and they go into detail about BEAM POINTS and BEAM DURABILITY. What probably happened is that Akuma and Vipers first attack took away all the Beam points, nullfying the beam.
InitialR you're wrong. If you watch the second video, Ninjalink DHC's into another beam special Twice and the second and third beam still don't hit akuma even though he has no attacks out. Weird huh?
It's interesting to see all these intricacies being discovered over time.
Makes me wonder if (or when) we'll start to see this come into play at a tournament level, as it looks like it could cause a lot of headaches for beam based characters, especially for Dormammu since he's probably the most popular one.
@12
Not really broken, it just means beam characters have to be extra careful against C.Viper (who is pretty rare) and Akuma (who is more common). The thing is though is that you're burning your X-Factor for the purpose of punishing that beam attack, so there's a risk-reward factor coming into play here. The way I see it, it's basically one more thing to consider for when you want to pop your X-Factor. More tactics isn't a bad thing, right? :)
No, i'm not wrong, if you are talking about what happened at 4:30 or 5:45, then modok didn't even get his beam out before switching to pheonix/iron man. Look at 6:30 and you can see that during the second hit, modok blast him in the middle of his attack, meaning that it is the first hit in Akuma's attack that takes away all the of beam Durability.
As someone who has the guide I can tell you this is old news but I suppose it's nice someone is making video's showing this stuff to the general public.
