Team Sp00ky is streaming the 2nd annual Spring Fighter Tournament in New York, which Capcom's Seth Killian is attending. The console version of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition is at the event as well.If you'd like to chat with other EventHubs members while the stream is going on, hit this link.
Ooooh. But Arturo did say,
"Seth said they were looking at some balance changes, but as of now they have been rolled-back, so, as of now, it's the same."
Sounds promising.
As long as Blanka is top tier, its cool. By the way, stop saying you dislike changes when you are still going to download, buy AE! ROOOARR!
Can they give us a detailed explanation why they didn't balance SF4-AE.
A lot of people complain about AE and yet they do nothing.
Even the top players feels like its unbalance.
Daigo even switch to yun to survive being godlike.
Iam so sick of Fei and Yun.
People will now have a second thought..
if they will buy the game or its DLC.
@1
"No AE vs Super."
Seriously, anyone who thought that you'd be able to use characters across different versions is/was pretty silly for thinking that. It's obvious that you'd either play Super vs Super and AE vs AE. There'd be too much messing about if you could cross versions.
@ 5, 6, 7
It sounds like no new trials for existing characters. And as for balancing, it sounds like the door isn't closed but we're all going to have to catch up to california and East Coast before they give us anything new down the line.
mrdrofficer: "Thanks for crushing dreams Arturo,
No new changes. No AE vs Super. No new trials or options. Just straight up AE.
sigh. But still, awesome."
Don't worry. They mean for the version playable right there. There's still time for changes to be made when it's released to the public, as they promised in the reveal video. This simply means those changes are still in flux.
super wasn was so balanced, in my opinion AE is more balanced in general, the only thing wrong is fei and yun, the rest is ok, but bad thing is that there will be a lot of fei and yun online u.u at least we will know quickly his tricks like happen with ryu and all the clones online...
Were Arturo and that other commentator bashing on Stephanie the Chun player because she's a girl? Saying stuff like "a girl who know's about button check?!" and "she has to flash those titties to distract him." Even after the article that BurnYourBra put out a couple days ago. really guys? Am I the only one who got bothered by that?
I had a feeling that you would have the option to choose to boot AE or SSF4 from the main menu.
Hopefully when you boot up AE from the main menu it counts as it's own game with another 50 achievements to get :)
@10
I don't see why AE wouldn't have a training mode & all that.
Quick question...
WHY ARE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT A LACK OF BALANCE CHANGES IN A GAME MOST OF YOU HAVE NEVER EVEN PLAYED?
Most of you don't live near an arcade that has AE. People are already demanding balance changes on a game they haven't touched. Here's an idea...why not PLAY the game before asking for it to be rebalanced?
Stop accepting things that you read on the internet without testing them YOURSELF.
OMG Yun is so OP. Why? Cause someone on the internet said so?
Form your OWN opinions.
Xykes is a textbook Yun fan.
After the patch is released, he'll go on to talking about how Yun DESERVES to be god-tier in every game he's put in.
@ #18
Exactly.
Most of the arcades I go to around that have AE, the diversity of characters used is quite varied, people need to wait to play the game.
I accidentally put cross counter on in the background with the volume low (the natural volume on it way lower than the stream's). So while watching this stream I thought Gootecks and Mike Ross were sitting somewhere behind the announcers, having an animated conversation
idk i always play it, its near our home and heck i experienced a lot of yun beatings.
Thats why i use him and i was beating a lot of players.
in just 2 days of practice, that boy moves in an abnormal speed, fast recovery and a lot of damaging combos.
Not only yun also fei-long.
its not really fun anymore.
since you would want to always win online
you would really choose a character whos among the best.
not the character you want..
damnit... COME ON CAPCOM BALANCE PATCH DOOO ITT!!! WE DESERVE MORE BALANCE FOR WAITING.

Here's the character usage rankings and bp averages from japanese arcades as of Dec. 26/2010.
Might be a bit out of date but it gives you an idea at least.
The sky is not falling...
glad that we have S-Kill to explain everything I'm sad that Yun isn't getting any nerfs but oh well nice to see that the replay's will be used in both super & AE.
@27 I suppose so. But it just seemed a little bit inappropriate. Oh well
How to balance the game??
bring back the Super balance.
no nerfed, no buffed, Totally the same.
Put the twins thats it... is that so hard Capcom?
tbh i think AE is pretty much "more balanced" but kind of gets forgotten due to yun and fei just overpowering other characters, 2 characters imo who are not balanced, i don't even understand why they buffed fei, he was already good, i mean frame adv to his rekka WTF
@LordJim: As opposed to AE, where low-tiers are nigh unusable and under-represented, while still having some ungodly strong characters on top that people complain about.
#38
And how is the AE balance any different in that regard?
they wont try to re- balance because they ve moved all their resources over to SFxTK. They are intending to but 40+ characters in the roster and they are trying to fit 2 gameplay styles into it- they have no devs to spare for SF4.
they stand to gain more $$$ from allocating all their devs into SFxTK than they do from SF4 DLC.
@#40,#41
My point pretty much is that match-ups and tiers were just readjusted. SSF4 had ovious balance issues, and AE retains them.
It's nigh impossible for this not to happen in a fighter.
So, the bitching is unwarranted.
I can understand not liking the new focus/metagame, but going around saying 'SSF4 was balanced and had no problems and AE ruins it' is just stupid.
@LJ: The majority of SSF4's issues were Guile-related and that some of the characters couldn't do anything at all.
Now, Makoto is top (not god) tier, and the rest of the cast outside that tier might as well not exist. Superficially, it's virtually the same, but in practice, it's a lot different.
See, that is where I disagree.
Some of the twins and Fei's bad/even match-ups are in mid tier, for sure.
And compared to SSF4, most of the low/mid characters are better.
So, even if just slightly, they are less useless than SSF4.
It's a new set of balances and match-ups, which is good. Cause if they just added characters and changed nothing else...I personally think it would become stale sooner.
Only new people follow tiers. Yun and Fei are strong but Fei isn't easy to learn so contrary to what people think you won't see many online or off. Yun on the other hand will most likely get used a good deal.
@44
did guile even win a major tournament? guile being the biggest problem in the game just sounds stupid. ssf4 had solid balance, all u needed to do in that game was buff, if u got any nerfs at all in the game they would be minor/not noticeable. but its too late for now. ill just wait for sfxtekken.
@48: If Guile was the biggest problem in that game, then I think it WAS pretty balanced.
If you ask me the meter nerf alone was enough to balance Guile. Maybe a slight nerf to his Ultra damage or recovery.
No, they had to destroy its damage (from 420 to 300? I mean, are you serious?), nerf the startup, his air throw, chop damage off his T+HP and a his FKs. And I might be forgetting something here.
A game where every characters deals 100 damage with a fierce (Ryu's Plexus is getting nerfed too) is boring, not necessarily better.
Wonder why they didn't touch (heck, they boosted him, even if slightly) Fei Long.
Guile only needed a nerf on the air throw and recovery on sonic hurricane that's it the rest didn't make sense especially the meter since Yun can probably make two super meters in a round if allowed to.
That and the balance for AE was to make the game more offensive but some of the direction they went is head scratching honestly just adding a guard meter would have done wonders.
Amazing...retards crying for nerfs on a game they have never even played. Who knows how long that would delay the game. Prolly DP mashing, wake up ultra scrubs that cant even do a combo. Ken will always be the best character in the game on your level of play so stop complaining.
Interesting you say that because I have seen a jump on Fei users online.
god im tired of the whining of a character being too weak or too strong.Remember how dhalsim and guile in vanilla were weak and kinda crappy?then everyone started crying about it and capcom buffed them.now everyones calling dhalsim cheap and guile a huge turtle :/
@51
guile has always had fast recovery on sonic booms. With the exception of the air throw(it is alittle retarded) he is exactly the way hes supposed to be.
@59
Indeed his ultra 2 recovery should be increased, Air throw damage slightly decrease. The gripe I have most with guile is the meter he gains from throwing those sonic booms which is higher than the average projectile thrown.
@60 I never really hated on that I just disliked the two things I mentioned above.
#63 Thats a bit true
They only needed to nerfed sagat and remove the Loops.
You guys are not feeling the effects now,
But you'll see dozens of yun and Fei in the future.
like millions of ryu in s-sf4 online.
There wont be much variety of characters to play with.
#62 I'm a PC Vega player and I approve of the changes. XD
Yes as far as I saw he is getting a bit nerfed compared to SSFIV but since I'll go from SF4 to AE It will be only huge buff for him. :D I guess I have a different view point because of that. :P
Majority of SSF4 issues were scrub related, it's just a far better game and AE is a classic example of what happens when devs try to please people who don't know what they are talking about.
Nerf blanka ball yall.
@67 Gen would be another example of a Sagat killer. His jump arc made it easy to get in on him. Made it so he didn't have time to do his Roundhouse AA.
A lot of people dismiss how good Gen actually was because no one played him. He wasn't top tier or near it. but was def mid tier and no low tier like they had listed.
His super could go threw fireballs, his loop kept him in on him and allowed him to deal great damage on him. His AA's stopped Sagat from jumping in. His Parry Glitch also made it easier for Gen to get in on him.
@#64
A look at the usage charts for Japanese AE has Ryu, Ken, Akuma and Sagat at the top. Shotos always gonna rule in terms of usage, no matter who is top tier.
Fei is top-tier in SSF4 right now, but you still end up fighting an army of Ryus. I doubt Yun and Yang will make that much of a difference.
You must need skill to be good with Fei Long, because I sure don't see them online. Though thankfully I'm starting to play more skilled people online! xD
Had some tough back to back matches against Sagat/Chun-Li/Seth/Dhalsim (and I use Gief >_> ).
@Dreamking23: Then don't watch the stream. ;)
It's funny how people complain so much about AE yet most probably never played it or are reading or watching the news.
The game isn't officially out until June. Knowing Capcom, any overlooked "problems" in the game, both fan-based or slipping out of the radar, will eventually get patched the 2nd or 3rd week. Yes, even SSF4 got an unexpected patch early after release. This shouldn't even compare to the more broken MvC3.
Thanks for crushing dreams Arturo,
No new changes. No AE vs Super. No new trials or options. Just straight up AE.
sigh. But still, awesome.
