Shuma and Trish assist glitch in Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Posted by Jonathan 'Catalyst' Grey • April 16, 2011 at 6:14 p.m. PDT
ThouArtTheMachine discovered a new glitch in the most recent version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It involves Shuma-Gorath and using Trish's assist.

Basically, do a corner combo with Shuma and reset the opponent. Then as they recover in the air, call out Trish and do an air throw with Shuma into/onto the trap. After she throws the trap out, she will leave the screen as usual, but once they get hit by the trap, she will immediately reappear on top of them.

In this state, she can be hit and killed but not used as an assist or snapped out. It appears that the only way to bring things back to normal is to do your cross-over combo (Assist 1 + assist 2).

Rushed game was Rushed.

they need to patch this asap because this glitch actually has serious impact on gameplay. Not being able to use one of your character for the entire game? wtf?

SnakeX said on April 16, 2011 at 6:28 p.m.

Not a big deal at all, it's a highly situational glitch, and something that will probably get patched eventually anyway. Not that it will stop people from whining though, as seen above.

it's not so much's more we bought a product that was not a full product to begin with. What if you bought a car and that all the cars of that model were missing a break like ... or a coffee cup holder doesn't actually fit coffee cups.. it's a defect and it needs to be addressed... If it's not a big deal to you..good for you..but my $60 is alot to me, so I want a complete yeah I'm going to whine...because I'm not happy with my product...It's called a complaint..and everyone gets it if they don't do their's called 'working' and 'responsibility'. Capcom is not doing their job..i'm complaining..

This game is so broken glitch after glitch after glitch.

"this game is so broken glitch after glitch"

Ok, excuse my english, but how bout you stfu. I can assure you 98% of the people that plays marvel or more will never run into any of the glitches exploited so far. Its not a big deal, and Capcom is actually patching them, so you should be thankful for that.

Anyways... this just makes me laugh, seeing how it was discovered right after the patch and whatnot.

shano said on April 16, 2011 at 7:22 p.m.

Why you getting mad brah?

It's just my opinion and i stand by it the game is cheap, unbalanced and broken.

Endgame said on April 16, 2011 at 7:31 p.m.

#8 Obviously you are not familiar with all the glitches in MvC2.

Though I do agree that this game was rushed.

how in the world could capcom eliminate EVERY glitch that was "left" in the game...i bet 50% of glitches that were discovered they didn't even know about
even SSF4 had glitches like the bison U1 while gettin hit by akuma air fireball but the animation still continues...
sh*t happens saying you got an unfinished game is stupid you can't know everything that may go "wrong"
especially in MvC
there are too many teams you can build and with all the DHC's and everything i bet there's 20 more glitches we just don't know about yet
in my opinion it's actually good that capcom let's the players find stuff and if it's really game breaking they patch it out and it's cool again, where's the problem?

All im saying is this game has soo many freaking glitches & bugs it's unbelievable.

And then you have dodgy online, no spectating, no replay mode & X Factor.

To me the game seems rushed and i am very dissapointed with this game i was pretty hyped about it in till i played it and realized how bad it is maybe Super MvC3 will be good ;)

Just remember guys this is just my opinion.

Sinbu said on April 16, 2011 at 8:27 p.m.

i thought people were being sarcastic about this glitch ruining the game and making the game an "incomplete product"

Now looking over it again, it seems like people are serious. This is such a highly situational glitch, it makes me laugh that people are actually pissed off about this. As a developer myself, I understand how complicated and variable a game like this is.

Chenda_Sheen said on April 16, 2011 at 8:27 p.m.

#15, you must be really High on PCP, Capcom claims they know more than 50% of the glitches, they said they know about the majority of them. Why not patch the bulk of them? I'm sure they "knew" about this glitch too right? They'll just patch it in a month like they did Zero and Cap.

Yeah. Good luck.

this is the dumbest arguement ive ever seen, first all everygame that gets put out has glitches, madden, fps, fighting wtf do you expect thats what online patches are for, 2nd of all in order for this glitch to happen you hgave to do it to yoruself, why would you call out a assist for a throw if you know your characters gonna be stuck? if you do this in a match and knew about it you deserve to lose, that trap isn't going to effect anything on wakeup anyway, this is a pointless glitch as you would have to do it to yourself, its not like somebody did it to you, instead of comaplinging some of you guys need to get a life and do something productive in your life. all you kiddies love to complain about everything, maybe you should make your own game as see how it comes up, now im not saying marvel is perfect but its better then most "average fighters"

cvs said on April 16, 2011 at 9:02 p.m.

Patch it!

gam3fr33k said on April 16, 2011 at 9:22 p.m.

how is this even an issue? guranteed all the people complaining dont play shuma or trish. Like damn you still salty bout sentinel nerf?

SmokeRulz said on April 16, 2011 at 9:22 p.m.

Shut up. Glitches happen in every game and pretty much all of them are unexpected. How the hell do these people figure out these glitches? Possibly on accident, and then they work out how to do them anyway. The glitches require some decent effort to pull off, so just DON'T do them.

At least Capcom is patching these things. Name a game you played that was glitchy as hell and didn't get patched for months, if at all.

Mikeydactyl said on April 16, 2011 at 10:37 p.m.

Guys, little glitches like these really aren't a big deal.

I mean Jesus, even the Captain America infinite that everyone said was really easy never made tournament level play.

The only glitch that matters is the DHC glitch, and honestly, I don't mind it. Though I think it'll be patched out anyway.

Spacecacti said on April 17, 2011 at 1:06 a.m.

I'd say Capcom is doing their job, they already have your money.

Nep said on April 17, 2011 at 1:31 a.m.

I used to love MVc3, before we found [obscure glitch] / added/removed [feature], but this is the last straw.

Capcom have gone too far/not too far enough! Because of [issue] MvC3 is going down the tubes. If only they had [whining about extremely obscure glitch / feature], none of this would be happening. They need to get off their lazy asses and add/remove/change [feature / glitch]!

I understand that [insincere concession], but I spent money on MvC3, I am legally entitled to [feature], and Capcom will drive this game into the ground if they don't get it together!

I know there has probly been a post about this already, but this one is different because [incorrect statement]. We as a community need to unite in support of [feature, fixing obscure glitch] or Capcom will never get anything done! They'll sit there like the fat cats they are enjoying [uneducated conception of actual monetary assets] and we'll get scammed!!

Nep said on April 17, 2011 at 1:32 a.m.

You [belittling pejorative, indicating youth or lack of intelligence], how dare you. Capcom work very hard for [highly exaggerated amount of time] each day to bring you [basic feature, glitch fixing], and all you do is bitch and complain all day. Capcom don't owe you anything, you paid for MvC3 and [unreferenced unresearched pseudolegalese statement] means you got what you paid for. Capcom are not here to have you tell them what to do, you're not their boss, and the sooner you realize that the better.

Every game has glitches which haven't been found. Stop acting like 12 year olds and learn to play already..

Waiting for another Capcom statement by Svensson or Killian saying that Capcom already knew about this glitch and had a patch underway before the game was released.

miyodarius said on April 17, 2011 at 10:34 a.m.

I don't care how hard Capcom work, in the end of the day, they're only interested in making more money (but use that money to supply more games though). Just to beat MvC3, you have to buy Jil & Shuma. It seems like every week, their something new you need to buy...
Even though that had nothing to do with the glitches, I'm happy Capcom is willing to fix these glitches with updates, when most games don't
