Morrigan is a very solid character, but everyone doesn't know how devastating she can be.
I cannot take anyone who uses Astral Vision and Cr.L as a "tactic" seriously. She has way better combos that can rack up the damage. Anyone who uses Morrigan and uses that is straight up worthless.
She's been a main of mine in every crossover she's been in, as well as the Darkstalkers series itself, and I can say this is the best iteration of Morrigan to date. She is my official team "Anchor", her Lv.3 X-Factor can mess up an entire team's synergy in an instant.
She's anything but "Free meter".
@6 debating a characters strength should never include X-Factor discussion, X-Factor does not make or break a team/character... it never should. Morrigan can be a strong character but only with good assists, she has some key weaknesses mainly with some of the recovery of her moves. But played smart she is great, you just have to play her smarter than say Sentinel who takes no brains to play... which is why you dont see him in High level play anymore (Yeah im talking to all you no skill scrubs thinking your good cause you mash high armor moves with him and think that took skill).
Also the Felicia combos were lack luster because 80% of them used X-factor, and really if you need X-Factor to do a proper combo you win, you have to learn first meterless combos then 1 meter combos... and so on, but most of you rely on meter and X-Factor which is why youll never be good.
True, including X-Factor was a big mistake on my part.
Nonetheless, Morrigan is probably one of the more underrated characters in the roster.
I'm glad I main her, and as my anchor, I've trained myself to use her to her fullest without assists. Astral Vision mindgames and instant overheads make her a very scary opponent in the right hands.
I think Morrigans strength lies with her flight cancels, making all your normals and specials much more safe (including command grab!!!!), and allowing for extended meter building combos. Damage on normals is a little lacking, but she has good health and interesting movement.
Too many level 3 hyper combos in the Morrigan video, too much x-factor in the Felicia video.
Very nice; i've never seen Morrigan's flight cancels used quite like that. I should take some notes on this.
@9
"she has some key weaknesses mainly with some of the recovery of her moves."
Wow, Stopped reading right there. Morrigan's flight-cancels = no recover on her moves. Heck, flight-cancelling her moves is her freakin' signature! She's the only one who can do it.
Anyway, I'm with ChunLi on this. Morrigan is vastly underrated.
And yes, X-Factor discussion should be involved in Character discussion, that's the whole purpose of anchors and comeback characters. Someone like Wolverine with X-Factor can probably wreck a whole team, but that's only if he can get in a combo, Arthur with X-Factor and Golden Armor can be the king of zoning, but if the opponent manages to get in on him, it's over, no comeback. Morrigan's X-Factor is a hell lot more dangerous. But she's not all about X-Factor.
Hey guys I'm just getting started into the fighting gaming culture and I've been playing long enough to know most terminology and I was wondering if someone could help me with some Morrigan combos considering that she's in my main. I'd really appreciate it, thanks if anyone is feeling generous.
Who ever said Morrigan was terrible because of low damage is insane. She's a decent character, despite that yes, she has very low damage output. She fits on a lot of teams and is overall versatile. In a sense, she's a poor man's Storm, though she has the meter building assist as well.
Although I personally think Felicia is more underrated and demands more popularity.
Morrigan's my favorite. I, like a few of you, have been playing her in each crossover game. I personally find that Morrigans tend to be a little less spammy (I think that's the term I'm going for). Yeah, I agree, she does have fairly low damage output. As mentioned above, her flight cancel is fantastic.
You have to work for the good damage. No simple one-twos from her!
Would love to see some Hsien-Ko combos from someone. I'm not quite good enough to come up with anything fantastic, so I'll leave it up to you expert fellows to impress the community. :)
For some reason, the audio in the Morrigan combo video annoys....erm irritates me.
