@4: And AE doesn't?
At least Emm Vee Cee 3 is staying true to its roots (twisted and crazed as those roots are). SSF4: AE: Electric Boogaloo is just going back to the bad old days of SF3, which killed the entire franchise for 10 years.
And another thing Marvel 3 and Super AE etc.. are completely different styles of fighting game, they can easily coexist, it's a bit ridiculous for people within the community to try to downplay games that they don't enjoy whether it's Marvel, AE, Tekken, BB, Melty or MK9. Remember the other side of the coin is none of these games being released. Even if you don't enjoy a game you should at least support the fact that it's existence means your scene is thriving.
I like how all the idiots keep saying that MvC3 sucks and that AE is miles ahead. It's pretty obvious that the people who come to these threads and complain about MvC3 are probably all just in denial like a bunch of kids saying "my toys is better than your toy."
#6 said the truth. And yet everyone ignores him lol.
Actually crispy #9 is talking the truth. MvC3 is a big step down from 2. MvC2 was broken but at least it's combo execution execution took some skill. AE > MvC3 all day.
#12 it's not a matter of whether or not Marvel 3 is scrubby or not because A. A true scrub is not going to beat a top Marvel 3 player, it's just not going to happen. B. Many consider Super to be scrubby (reversal window for days, Ultra system rewarding you with high damage for getting hit) but what makes the difference is what you've mentioned learning the things that set you apart. Marvel 3 whether you want to believe it or not has that going for it as well. Option selects, maximization of your damage output all of those apply to Marvel 3. The thing is Capcom has said many times they are making games to appease casual gamers as well as the tournament players, yes it's a cop out in a sense but still what separates a "top player" from some guy who can do Captain America infinite online in lag is the deeper understanding of the (meta)game. Whether that game is scrubby or not because. Play what you play don't downplay other games easy as that.
also mavfan I like how you didn't defend AE in your post XD fanboy lmao j/k
#19 I love Super and I'm looking forward to AE, all I'm saying is if you're going to compare MvC3 to 2 that's fair, 2 takes more skill it's a fact, does not reduce the merit of playing 3. Same goes with comparing any iteration of SF4 to ST, or 3S, those games took more skill to play at a high level, does not reduce the merit of playing SF4. And my point is not about defending the games, I would just like to see people realize like I've said the mere existence of these games is a good thing it means we get to play the ones we enjoy, and now we have choices as well, and no one can complain about that. To wish one particular game just "goes away" is counter productive.
Why would they use player name plaques that continuously obscure the super bar for almost any fighting game with such? At least only show them periodically.
I hate it when TV logos do that to subtitles as well (I'm no sub vs dub fanboy, just in general--Iron Chef on Cooking Channel for example).
Other than that, great stuff!
@20
mavfan you perfectly worded everything I was about to say. I think this is the first time people are noticing more than two fighting games on the scene at once. People will play what they want and if you like that game go support it. I've been in the Garou:MOTW scene and in the BB scene enough to know that people are not going to quit MvC3 or SF4 all together just because a new games coming out. Understand that not everyone will like Game A because you like it, or everyone will hate Game B because you think its not a good game.
#24 hes right remember when sagat was ultra gay in vanilla. Same with Mvc3 they will patch it soon. prob make mvc3 ulimate edition but both games have their faults.
Nice match, poor commentary. Wanna hear some Gootecks\Ross commentary sometime.
The commentators are just about the most pointless thing I've ever seen/heard involved in competitive gaming. I love how they say 'oh a throw' when you've just very clearly seen the throw and 'he's in the corner'...
They bring nothing to it, why are they always there??
Nah, got to give credit where its due. Guys like Ultra David, Chris Hu, etc, even Yipes with his crazy American metaphors are great.
They dont just make comments on the action but break down playing styles, discuss combos, make suggestions on to what the losing party needs to do etc. Just like any game, commentary and that extra edge and build up / excitement to matches.

Killed the franchise? More like kept the hype alive for 10 years. The Daigo full parry is STILL the most famous sf moment ever.
Who is MarlinPie with now? What is AG?
