So far I don't like what I see. Here's hoping a year's development time will produce what we've come to expect from Capcom.
Why does everyone have weird sausage-like fingers?
It's all I can see now.
The game looks pretty good. I personally like it. Street Fighter is expanding their horizons on challengers. It is nice they did things with Marvel and SNK before and I am sure there would be more to come but whether you like it or not, this concept does seem interesting.
@hitmanr92
The Babe you are referring to is Nina Williams from Tekken.
Wasn't Dan in that video they released AGES ago- when they first anounced Tekken X SF was in the pipeline? Wonder if he will put in any further appearance, with a tekken counterpart (though I haven't played enough tekken to speculate too far I thought the bear/panda and the kangaroo were pretty amusing).
@12
Alex from Tekken, not Street Fighter. It's like a velociraptor with boxing gloves.
And yeah this game looks kind of off to me right now. The stages look pretty bad (especially the grassy ground in the dinosaur stage's flat, boring texture), the framerate was looking awful, hit animations had a lot of cheesy effects, the charge moves were jerky and awkward, etc etc etc.
I'm sure it will all get polished up, but I hope they do something with the color balance of it all. Right now it's like the saturation of color in the stages is 10x heavier than the characters. Just looks off. Nothing seems to be blending well.
Ooooh man, Rufus better be in there. The bear and Zangief are also acceptable.
Lei Wulong PLEASE!
I play Lei and Nina in Tekken Tag so it would be a dream come true for me if they get Lei Wulong in here, Also I play Chun Li so Team Cop with Chun and Lei as well.
I've been a big Tekken fan long before Street Fighter so I am excited for the game, it feels more fast paced than Super so it should make for interesting matches at tournaments especially since two characters share the same health.
Im sorry I forgot they don't share the same health but they do share the same conditions for winning and losing jus tlike Tekken Tag.
@17 so no Akuma? Be kind of weired not having him even as a secret character.
Speaking of charcters since they said SSFIV AE is the last version, it's possible all the high demand characters that was requested might find their way on this game. Sakura and Karin for example.
Im betting on it.
Nothing about this game is looking good to me right now. Slow-ass SF4 gameplay with juggles is just... weird. And SF4's graphics didn't look good even when it was new.
I like the style it keeps up with the other Ono games.
SF4 had a Inked look to it.

SSF4 had a sketched look to it.
http://www.fightersgeneration.com/mai...
SFxT has a water color look to it.

I also noticed that the models get less bulky each time their used.
My bad I forgot that you have open other windows on TFG it takes you back to the main page.

You mean more SF3 characters than what was debuted in Super/will debut in AE? Hmmm most of those freaks weren't popular enough to make it in.
I don't see why Juri wouldn't be in, Hwoarang needs a heavy kick bag >_>
I want to see the graphics from Namco's side. So far this looks bleh.
Looks great to me as a fan of both series its truly a dream come true and to you people who don't like it... Well its simple don't play it and don't look at the gameplay trailers I don't need you killing my buzz k thnx. Overall I am pleased with the art style and the play style and so far the choice of characters is good. I didn't want them to forget Abel after Super 4 and I am really hoping we finally get to see Street Fighter Alex I think he would fit well in this game and its always been a dream of mine to see him against King. Way to many dream matches to list but once the game comes out I will be able to fulfill them.
@#17
Gouki will be in it so prepare to hang yourself
Man I hope it looks better when in motion in front of you. Because right now it kinda looks awful, as if every character was using that sketch color from SSF4(#12 I think).
And there's Bob... I guess characters like him and Rufus make obese gamers feel like they can achieve anything while staying obese... which is incorrect. Stay healthy folks, right now y'all costing the goverment (in Canada) a crap ton of cash for healthcare (smokers too!).
I wanna see me some Bruce or Raven please. And if Feng Wei is in there, I'ma main this game no matter what!
Truthfully the game needs to be polished since it's a year away I'm sure this was built to show off what's to come. The graphics and animation look choppy but I'm sure Capcom will do justice. Gameplay wise it's cool how they translated tekken into sf but still maintained the tekken fighting style. Im hoping for feb/march 2012 release
They should release a beta ad get some feedback Like alot of fps games have been doing just my opinion though.
it's still too early in development so think this is anywhere near the final project so i won't list the things that look awful atm. most of them got listed here anyways...
I'm just pissed at the first character reveals...on tekken side nobody i like was added, and on SF side i like ken being added but i think we all knew he'll be in...i hope the next reveal features some of these:
Heichachi, Jin, RAVEN, Bruce, Asuka, Hworang, Bryan, Lei, Law and Lee :D
@28
If you were smart you'd know that Ono doesn't decide who gets added into the game, making your complaint meaningless.
@40
Dude, it's just the one of the first reveals, no reason to get pissed over them. Just sit back, relax, and wait until E3, that's when they'll be revealing the next batch characters. :)
I've always wanted to use Bob.
This also increases my hopes for a 4 player 2 on 2 mode.
That first picture when ryus doing his metsu hadouken
looks like hes asking for a kiss, he he..
I wonder whos the final boss in this one.
final boss will be satsui no hadou heichachi. he got tired of looking for the devil gene so he switched to that instead.
all speculation of course
Well, disapointed so far, early stage of development I guess.
They Should have dropped the idea of MvC3 and continued with this so we would have it early.
@41- Of course he does, d!ckhead. He's the one producing the game. Maybe he doesn't have the last say with Tekken characters, but he does with SF.
@29- Even if Juri isn't a boring TKD archetype and has a bad girl vibe, she's nothing like an SNK character. You don't know WTF you're talking about.
@30- How the f@ck are any of the five SF3 characters already in SSF4 freaks? Or Alex and Elena? Or Hugo? Do you think at all, or do just love generalizing?
So these are water color models? Thats pretty cool.
KING LOOKS AWESOME!!!
SHUT UP ABOUT THE VISUALS! DID NO ONE SEE THE EARLY SFIV VIDEO POSTED HERE TWO DAYS AGO?
IT'S A WORK IN-PROGRESS. THIS BUILD IS ALREADY SIX MONTHS OLD COMPARED TO WHAT YOU'LL SEE AT E3 WHICH WILL ALSO BE SIX MONTHS OLD BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THE INDUSTRY WORKS. IT TAKES THREE YEARS TO RELEASE A GAME AND THEY SAID THEY SHOWED IT A LITTLE TOO EARLY AT E3 A YEAR AGO. THEY"RE MAKING FANTASTIC PROGRESS AND THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY.
Bob's having a seizure from them Lightning Legs/flashing lights lol. The graphics are a little rough at the moment (I know it's supposed to look 'inky', that's not what I mean and you know it) but there's plenty of time for improvement, so I'm not worried.
Judging by that gameplay writeup (posted on Shoryuken) the game seems to fairly different to SSF4. Regardless, I hope they put in some characters that weren't in SSF4. More specifically some Alpha characters please, SF3 is allready coming back a la SF3: Online Edition, we don't need more than a couple - if at all - characters from SF3. I'd rather have R. Mika, Karin, or those Final Fight characters from Alpha than anyone from SF3 (just my opinion though)
Can't get over how disappointed I am with this news. Look at the screens... it looks like the exact same SF4 characters that you've been using since 2008. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I buy a new game that is essentially supposed to be part of a new franchise or series of games I want it to be... DIFFERENT.
Like really, you're going to go from Street Fighter 4, to Super Street Fighter 4, to Super Street Fighter 4:Arcade Edition, to Street Fighter x Tekken? Not only is it mainly the same cast of characters, but it's the same characters on the same game engine. How many times are you going to pay for "balance tweaks" that could have easily been put into the game via DLC as we have seen them do most recently with the announcement of AE DLC. Essentially, you're buying the Street Fighter 4 engine 4 times.. and that's just ludicrous.
Guess some people just like buying the same game over and over again, like the 10 year olds who get every version of Call of Duty. Seems like that is the direction Capcom is going these days with constant new releases that include the same characters and same game engine.
@chosenst: Of course it's too early to judge, but same models =/= same game (it's obvious that they re-used the models, but they look different enough...for me...) Last I heard this was supposed to be a different game. Wait for more info before laying down your judgement like that.
Also, play MvC3. Loads of new models in that game ;)
@Adnan: Ya man, I've been playing plenty of MvC3, but much to my own disappointment, yesterday didn't have a single piece of news regarding that game. It's the last game they put out and for all the consumers who are left in the dark they do nothing but put out information regarding new games for people to buy. It's like damn, we just spent $60 a month ago and you're already getting set to sell us more games. How about doing something to help the consumers of this game out first.
And about SFxT, I'm sorry but adding a launcher button and the ability to do a few juggles doesn't change the fact that this game is using the same game engine as the last 3 Street Fighter games and recycled character models. If this was called Shadow Battles and they charged you a dollar everyone would be raging. But instead, they throw a few new characters in, add a launcher button and call it a new franchise.
Looks okay so far but things will change. However I was reading a review article about the demo and it states it only has three super bars rather than four like SSFIV. The fact you have to use one bar to EX moves or tag cancels your partner, I can see the meter being depleted very quickly. I'm curious how they will address this if it becomes an issue,
@chosenst
Yeah. It's a sad day for all of us that buy the engines instead of the game. I heard Mozart used the same piano for all his songs. You can totally tell. So cheap.
@chosenst:
I get what you're saying. In addition to Call of Duty, you have to also include Resident Evil. It took Capcom five RE games (RE 0,1,2,Nemesis, and Code Veronica) before they changed the gameplay in RE 4 haha. However it's too early to judge this game. It's for sure that it's designed around the SF4 engine. However, I'm hoping the gameplay will be different, not expecting to be totally different but somewhat different than SF4. Ono stated that he's trying to incorporate some Tekken features to accomodate the Tekken fans / players. For instance, the launcher attack and the air juggling combos. So that's different for us SF fans. From what it looks like, you're going to have some similarities from SF4 but I doubt (I could be wrong later so don't qoute me just yet) Ono will make it exactly like SF4 but with Tekken characters, air juggles, and a launcher and call it a new game. If that is the case, we're looking at another enhanced graphical version of Capcom Fighting Evolution.
@mrdrofficer, ya heaven forbid you bought a new game that didn't include the same stuff you just bought 3 times before that. People like you are the reason they can get away with releasing the same thing 4 times in a row. Take a crap in a sack and put a fancy label on it, I bet you would buy that too.
@RandomJohn, you're right about incorporating some Tekken features to this game. That seems like the only thing that can make this game stand out from the other Street Fighter games.
Anyone else notice how they keep saying this will have a giant variety of characters... you think that is so people dont realize they're playing the same game? Heaven forbid they just stuck with one game and actually put all the characters there.
Hopefully that means there will some of the characters people were crying about not making it into the SF4 series.
Did you honestly expect the devs to shy away from the SF4 models? I mean they are making some progress to lighten the bulkiness but they won't create a whole new model...in reference to Capcom's side anyhow.
@chosenst
One look at the game and you can see that the gameplay, combo system, juggling and even the way the game works (one knockout) is a totally new game from SFIV. Only people like you that put weight on graphics over gameplay can't see how unique this game can be.
This was a bad idea to begin with. It's less of a game and more of a corporate merger.
What happened to all of the artistic talent that Capcom used to have? It's not just Dimps because MvC3 is just as ugly as SF4 and it was developed internally. Are they not capable of creating a proper character model or an interesting background anymore? When you look at the imagination and talent that went into creating the look of DarkStalkers and then look at this generic trash, it's a night and day difference.
@mrdrofficer: lol, "new combo system" aka a few new links and a launcher button... ya man, a totally new game. Have fun playing 2v2 SF4 bro, it's completely different. No wait, Tekken x Street Fighter is a completely different game cause it will be on a new engine with different character models.
You can keep trying to defend this whatever way you want to, it doesn't change the fact you're just buying another version of the same game for the 4th time. I bet those juggles and partner combos will make this game SO unique it will surpass all its predecessors.... mmmmmm ya probably not.
In before mrdrofficer responds with "omg but there are new sounds and stages and ultimate animations... such a different game, you just dont understand the new gameplay with combos and juggles and a launcher. OMG so awesome, call me a blind Capcom sheep, BAHHHHHHHHHH"
Holy Crap! The Big Dinosaur is also Biting Guile's leg, and he he doesn't give a damn.This game is gonna be bloody.
omg but there are new sounds and stages and ultimate animations... such a different game, you just dont understand the new gameplay with combos and juggles and a launcher. OMG so awesome, call me a blind Capcom sheep, BAHHHHHHHHHH
#67 Dude shut up you act like capcom and other games didn't do that back then. The majority of people knew from the start that they were going to use sf4 assets to make the game.
A game in a series is supposed to use the same mechanics. i'm curious to know what type of games you buy because the majority of games use assets from games in that series so what are you talking about.
I'm genuinely amazed people actually like the art style in this.
@75
That's a pretty faulty generalization, to say nothing should be judged in unreleased games.
Sure, making comments about character balance or the like right now is ridiculous, but judging the art, the broad strokes of the announced mechanics, and the way the physics look is perfectly valid right now. If anything it's necessary, companies need this kind of feedback while a game is still being developed.
@74 I don't buy the same variations of s*** over and over again. Hence the reason I have one version of most of the games I have. Now, if you're trying to compare using "SF4 assets to make the game" to games that produce sequels you're entirely off base. This wasn't a sequel or a part of a series dude, this was a new franchise. I have sequels like Gears of War 1 and 2 but I knew what I was purchasing from the get go. Capcom didn't tell you s*** about SSF4 when SF4 came out, that's why everyone was pissed. And again they didn't say s*** about SSF4:AE when SSF4 came out and that's why everyone is pissed. Now they release SSF4:AE and come out with SFxT which isn't even the same series but it's the same ol s*** just a different day. Nice try though bro, have fun with your game.
Im definitely gonna use Abel in this. I want to breathless the fudge out of Marduk
