It was announced today that CEO and EVO 2011 will be picking up Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. Also, VegaMan noted that the NorCal Regionals will also be using AE, along with the Shadowloo Showdown in Australia.Probably gonna be either Daigo taking it again since he picked up Yun or Marn since his Yun has been killing people. Maybe Mago with Fei but Fei is a hard character to use to contrary to what the crybabies think Mago will most likely be the only Fei. Other than that the game seems well balanced.
Do they mean that it's being picked up as its own game or it will replace SSF4 in those tournaments?
wtf how are people going to adjust to the changes so fast if they might have not even had a chance to play ae? -_-
Does that mean they're going to switch from consoles to arcade machines? That would be pretty lame for pad players.
#13:
Is that a serious question?
Are you guys following the news at all?
I knew that was gonna happen... No surprise there, but glad it's at EVO and CEO this year!
What's the point? For all the whining about the whining about Yun, he is and will always be horrendously overpowered compared to the rest of the cast, even his brother.
If they dont announce a rebalance for ae i will put my ssfiv for sale.
Ridiculous. Super had 20 different characters in the top 20 at Evo. Ae will have at most 5: Yun, Yang, Rufus, Akuma and Fei.Maybe a zang or abel pop in it.
Ono sucks, making my definite transition to marvel, a game that has at least 15 to 20 competitive characters.
Iam not gonna let those twins ruin my hype in AE..
if i saw either yun or yang.
ill shun goku satsu up their faces
like theres no tomorrow,
Well anyway iam sure they will patch this game..
or balance it like what they did with sentinel..
@20: They care about MvC3. AE is just a way to milk more money out of the Street Fighter franchise before they kill it for another 10 years with 3S:OE.
I send this tip earlier in the day anyways this is tough for console players but we will see how they adapt come game time.
daigo is fine look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpE3-a...
@Hitstick
They are top players for a reason. If they're "so called top players" why don't you get "good" and beat them? Oh wait you can't lol.
@shakaka
Good get out. I like Marvel but it's players are pretentious douche bags. They complain about SF being unbalanced and that the gameplay is to lame when Marvel is thousands of times more lame than SF gameplay wise. Most people just think "It's cool because I canz rush hurrrrr" until you meet a REAL Marvel player who will lame the hell out of you. Yeh, have fun.
@ #8
Exactly, the grand finals were between Poongko and Infiltration.
Neither if which uses Yun/Yang/Fei
@28
I dont complain that sf is unbalanced. Super was fine until capcom thought they needed to tweak more and screwed everything.
There a lot of bad stuff about marvel, but the thing i hate most in fighting games are mirror matches. I dont want to be a tier whore but i alos dont want to sweet like a maniac trying to win with Gen. In super i played with Rose and Gouken. Rose is dead in ae.Gouken is slightly better but wont be able to cope with dive kick shenaningans.
In marvel 3 we have at least 15 characters that are viable: Wesker, Phoenix, Sentinel, Wolverine, Storm, Magn, Dorm, Doom, Tron, Akuma, Haggar, Dante, Spencer, Trish, Zero, Ammy, Task and x-23
And still, as lame as x-factor level 3 is, it make bad characters also viable. Thor x-factor level 3 kill with 3 hits, Arthur x-factor level 3 is a best and so on.
Now back to ae, i dont want to play a multitude of Yun and Yangs, because frankly, i think those characters are boring as hell.
So bye bye ssfiv for me
So Daigo will plan to come! He will mess us up. =( But we will be able to figure out what Yun's weaknesses are only if we have console AE, that is a better way to find his weaknesses than in an arcade. Or maybe people would show how to handle Yun in youtube.com. Let's go!
@23
Lol MVC3 is a joke and one of the most broken games out. One Level 3 X factor can basically kill a whole team if he lands any move. Also there are infinites, glitches, unblockables and 1 combos KO's and the difference between SSF4 and MVC3 is that you use 3 characters in MVC3 so even if there are 15 viable characters you will see like all of them in a couple of games.
Also how is rose dead? She only got slightly nerfed with the ultra which just makes it less noob friendly while the top characters got more nerfs. Yeah she would have trouble with dive kick pressure but that doesn't make her dead. Also Gouken can just counter the dive kicks? Ex tatsu or ex flip. Yeah Yun is a bit overpowered but that doesnt mean all the Yuns will make it to top 8 which was seen in sf4 through the lack of Sagat's in tournaments other than Mago.
@38
There are no tournament scene where i live so the most important thing for me is online diversity.
Yestarday at ssfiv i only didnt fight a Gen and a Hakan.
With Marvel i often see a big difference in the teams, the only character i rarely play against is M.O.D.O.K, all the others i see frequently.
In ae there will be a lot of players tier whoring Yun, just like in Vanilla people tier whored Sagat, i know he will be eventually countered just like vanilla sagat but what bothers me is that i will frequently play against a character that i find extremely boring. There are people that hate playing against Guile's, there are people that hate playing against shotos, and i hate playing against dive kick characters.
About rose, i am just quoting tokido, he said Rose is dead and i believe him. What bothers me is not the ultra 2 nerf, but the meter gaining nerf she received,not being able to use her super often will hurt the way i play rose. And it is unfair that she got this nerf while the twins are allowed to quick gain meter to use their's overpowered supers.
@40 its hilarious how convinced you are of people's character choice based on what you've read on the internet.
People are excited about changes made to the characters they have been playing in SSF4 or wanted to get serious with but felt they lacked that competitive advantage. SSF4AE character usage will be just as varied as SSF4.
Just because some of the best players use a character does not mean everyone can. Its not like everyone uses Rufus because Justin Wong wins with him. In fact I bet most people will stick to their old guns just like they did with the jump from SF4 to SSF4.
@mcfizzle
In fact, Rufus is THE least-used character.
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2010/se...
"Even though Rufus and C. Viper are somewhat common in the tournament scene, they came up dead last in this list."
Everyone is going to play the twins for a day and then drop them because they require pressing too many buttons, and too much memorization for optimizing damage with Genei Jin/Seiei Enbu.
@ 48
How do you compare guile to the twins? Guile is the lamest character in the freaking game. How much skill is required to throw sb's, fk's, backfists and air throws? God I hate guile players. No skill, and then people like you complain about dive kick pressure? Gve me a break!
I agree, I've faced some good Guiles, that match can feel infuriating. Just gotta be patient, don't think random jump-ins will get you the W, because it won't. xD
Keep in mind constant rush down characters require constant execution. You NEED good execution to keep the offense pressure going. This is why Rufus is not popular online (I've fought maybe 5 - 10 online). He is obviously an A tier character strength wise, yet people try to take easy wins with Ryu/Ken/Akuma or someone else. Rufus requires a lot of work upfront, but you get rewarded for it afterwards. Certain characters reward you regardless, like the above mentioned, lol (accept Kuma is legit ;) ).
@56 and 57
the way it's meant to be rolled

Let's go Yun!
