I always liked the sound of the buttons when you hit them while playing, why would you risk the chance of them getting jam for less noise?
Also great for letting Killswitch Engage be heard better! Nice vid, although I do question jamming.
@ 5 if you cut them to the diameter of the inside of the hole. it won't jam. Simple enough. I've had them in here for a while now. And they are fine. You could say that about trying to make a dual mod stick. Anyone could run the risk of dripping solder on their stick and ruining it.
If you like the sound that's fine. But if you hit them like I do, (not like a wild monkey) but hard enough you can hear them though insulated walls. It's louder with a Plexi Top, but still, if you want to do this, do it, if not, don't. Simple common sense decision.
Really great idea. Unfortunately this still doesn't dampen enough of the noise to stop from bothering people in the same room. Especially at night.
I happen to adore the sound. That crisp "taka-taka-taka" sound drums up all the nostalgia of the arcades from my youth.
Which, like the snows of yesteryear, are gone from this earth...
if only there was a way to get rid of the sound completely
reminds me of when i used to play on my ps2 and my mom would wake up at night cuz she could hear me playing haha ON PAD man she was against me playing games haha
@13
lol i thought the same thing, except i thought it was a girl. Whole damn reason i bothered to watch the video :p
ehh but now that i look at the thumbnail again, i see a dude too...
Ok, just tried this, and it doesn't really work. The problem is the parts that generate sound isn't the rim of the button colliding with the base of the switch casing, but the two stoppers either side of the casing striking the holes they are "plugged into". Bit hard to explain but anyone who knows how these are put together should have an idea of what I'm saying, so basically the only way to cushion the sound would be to somehow place cloth in these holes and keep it there. I'm sure with some glue and patience it could be done, but not such a quick fix solution as the above guide would be.
Bit disappointed given that I was looking for a solution like this as, like others have posted above, I live in a household where the noise of the joystick bothers others around me.
@19 actually it does work. The way the Sawna buttons work and you are wrong, the the stoppers are only to keep the button from coming out. The micro-fibre cloth makes contact with the bottom of them, you made yours too small then.
I removed my cut-outs put too slits in just the holes and they sound normal. You need to rethink your solution.
The sound of the Sanwa buttons work the same way as snapping your fingers. The bottom outter edge is what slams down on the inside of the button, you need to make sure that the micro-fibre cloth extends past that but not long enough to ride up the button.
Can't you hear the difference? I can, and so can my household.
Video response showing both solutions.
