Oh, SFIII 3rd Online so nice! It will be fun!! ;D
It seems like Ono wants people to start speculating.
So have at it, leave a comment below with your thoughts.
Ono its time to shake a leg, mk9 is coming out so stop trolling before it gets out of hand!
These little tidbits do make the mind wonder.
If that was an in game image oh how happy I would be.
If you're still getting your hopes up and thinking that they're going to do something amazing with this, you're just setting yourself up for a let down. The two biggest things that they could have possibly done for this game would have been to tweak the balance issues and redraw all of the sprites for another HD Remix, both of which Capcom has confirmed that they aren't doing.
I know that Sven or someone said that we would be wetting ourselves with what they're doing with this game or whatever, but I just don't see it. I don't think it's going to happen. They're going to re-release it on PSN/XBL with some graphical filters and online play. That's it. No balance changes, just regular 3S. Come to think of it, I don't know why they're going to bother adding online since it will be nothing but Chun and Yun spam. Thanks a lot, Capcom! Keep milking those DLC costumes! Don't bother to do any actual work over there!
Nothing more than menu screen shots of some sort. Definitely not in game at all. Don't expect too much guys. You'll just end up b*tching about it later. Shoushi!
well..at this point i really dont care about a game i had and played and got bored with on both dreamcast..and playstation 2..sf3 was cool for its time..but this is the ssf4 era..or mvc3 whatever..what i would love to be trolled and mind played by would be more things related to that that is awesome..none as STREET FIGHTER CROSS TEKKEN...THE NEW ERA OF FIGHTING GAMES..(my two cents)
I think Ono lives under a bridge and ask people riddles if they try to cross it, y'know because he's such a freaking troll!
Given how entitled the people in the community act, can you really blame Ono for having fun with his job?
probably just trolling with promotional art for 3rd strike online.
at first i thought you guys were retarded for thinking it were redrawn sprites, but looking at the yun art, i can see why you would think that. it's just really unrealistic if they actually redraw sf3's million sprites. knowing capcom, that'd be too much work for them. hell, they took pretty damn long redrawing sf2's sprites, so redrawing sf3's sprites would take them forever. besides, they already said they weren't going to redraw sf3's sprites.
i'd rather have them porting 3rd strike without redrawing sprites in hd, though. i didn't like what they did to sf2 hd remix.
@1
so true, they keep saying sf3 fans will jizz their pants, but they never show anything and 3rd strike online has been announced quite some time ago. it's time they start showing us something.
all i want them to do is use an hd filter and include new generation and second impact's stages and music as well as the feature to choose which version of a character you want to play(example: NG alex, SI alex, 3S alex). also when you choose the NG or SI version of a character, you'll get the select/versus screen character art from those games(example: if you pick NG alex, you'll get this art on the select/versus screen:
http://cache.fighters.com.br/jogos/go...
i doubt they'd do it though, as such features are more suited for an anniversary edition.
@31
catalyst only assumes we'll get info about 3rd strike online and he was wrong in his assumptions about announcements before. i don't see why that couldn't be the case this time.
way to call people out for lacking reading comprehension...
People say its just art, but that Yun has a Tekken body. Has anyone stopped for one moment to think this might be some T x SF stuff. Nope Ono's just trolling -_-'.
@33
I agree, looks more like a SFxT post. Ono says 3rd Strike looks good? I respond thus:
@37: It nearly killed the franchise for a reason, and it wasn't bad marketing, as the fanboys are wont to claim.
Given how they shoved all those 3S characters into SSF4, though, I think they might actually believe that it has a chance now.
sure, i will get it if it is a 3rd strike edition with 3d graphics like sf4.
I'm guessing these are just some of the graphics that will be on the menu screen, which is nice.
Screw SF3 Online, I want Goddam AE.
WHERE IS MY AE?!
#47: It's called patience, young grasshopper!!
Anyway, I can't wait until Tuesday to see SF3 Online and Street Fighter x Tekken.
''In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.''
Hm...posting a picture...nevermind.
I strongly believe now that the community on this page is retarded. Obliviously, the pics shown are not 3D/polygon graphics but hand drawn HD sprites, NOT 3D. And for those who are complaining about being too much like Anime, well idiots all Capcom games are anime inspired due to the origin of the company.
So the easy answer here is that this is in-game menu art; no surprises. A less likely possibility is that we're looking at new 3D sprites (we can assume they left the balance and hit boxes alone and just replaced the sprites), but I highly doubt they'd be able to fit MVC3/SF4-caliber models and animation into an XBLA/PSN game.
As for an HD sprite redraw... Should we hold our breath? No. But on the other hand, it's taking an unusually long time for Capcom to show ANY of the game - longer than it would take just to throw online and graphics filters in and release the thing. Memory-wise, it's entirely doable, and if they're not messing with balance and doing a "huge graphical update," that could be the hold-up.
Maybe they outsourced the work to Arc or the guys who did the sprites for the most recent KOF. I can dream, can't I?
I reckon one of the big things about SFIII online will be things like trial mode and like a really good training mode. Maybe an input latency tester a la Rock Band if that's not being to optimistic. Also a remixed/remastered/overhauled soundtrack would be very nice. Fully redrawn HD sprites like those in the picture is a bit much to ask, but I'd certainly appreciate it.

My thoughts on these Ono pics are , oh wait i have none lol , who was i trying to impress.
Moving on to Soul Calibur 5 , MK9 & Tekken Tag 2 like the rest of the strong willed people.
Just enhanced graphics for 3S. Kinda not interested since Ono said therea are no changes in the gameplay.
@57
Udon, for the most part, is full of really talented people. For whatever reason, they only had one guy - Long Vo, easily their worst artist - doing all the sprite work on HDR. It also didn't help that they just redrew each frame and didn't pay any mind to the animation.
dude the HDR sprites are sick as f^ck, all of udon's stuff is great imo.
@67: Yes, Ono is the one responsible for all those advanced graphics you hate so much. It's not like he's just a PR guy...
#61 has summed up all the ono hate in one post.
lol.
People just can't be satisfied.
Everybody loves to sh!t-talk about Ono without realizing that he bolstered the SF community and that there would be no SF4/SSF4 without him. I'm beginning to wonder where this arbitrary hate comes from. Or are most of the comments here posted by children?
These are NOT in-ame graphics. That would be impossible to re-draw all those Sprites with the amount of time and the budget alloted. SFXT is their big up and comer. There is no way they gave real-life illustrations to 3S.
This, and all that fan art they asked for, will be compiled to make a better chracter selection, menu and post-game illustrations. Which IS really cool.
I was one of the first to say this game should bring back all the old backgrounds and music from the older games, and I do hope they do.
Chracter rebalancing would be cool, but I'd really like the ability to set the flash to the level of Giants Attack. 3S just didn't feel as good as III and III2. They felt more "arcade" ya know?
I'm liking the 3d looking graphics but I hope capcom doesn't screw up like they did with hd remix, in not having the pure organic super turbo in the game. They should have a regular version of 3s online in the game.
@10 agree bro. The same way mvc2 was mag,storm,sent or mag,storm,cable Smh.
I believe the game will have an online experience similar to ssfiv and an art gallery plus a nice menu art work that's it. I don't see the big deal. I own the game on dreamcast and ps2. I wouldn't mind picking it up again for an arcade perfect port though.

God bless you & your family in these tough times.
becuz the pictures are so big & Yun is holding his skateboard, I'm still convinced this is a victory screen or something. but ryu is not the type to do anything more than cross his arms upon winning and that looks like a shin srk thats been zoomed in once connected so idk. i hope its gameplay
why would anyone want an HD remix for 3rd Strike? I don't want Udon's ugly ass sprites in 3rd strike. The sprites are beautiful as is. Throw some HD filters, and call it a day.
I don't understand how you intentionally read a guy's Twitter and then say he is a "troll" for posting something on it. I guess, by this definition, Catalyst is a "troll" because he posts news stories that do not contain 100% exhaustive information about a topic.
Wish there was a thumbs up button here so I could give #87 one. Otherwise, "this" would do for now.
#68
Udon's sprites look like ASS. Added artificial muscles and shrinking characters(Boxer's block animation, etc) are awkward to say the least. The lack of shadow depth make the sprites look like what you would see in a flash game. As a fan work it's not bad but as a professional work? Another matter entirely. Hell, they even got basic foreshadowing wrong on Vega's portrait.
Anyways, this is probably going to be the character portrait if it's anything other than just bonus artwork. I wouldn't be surprised if they just put a filter on the sprites and called it a day.
