I don't understand the logic behind thinking that Oni is Gouken. It's clearly the same VA as Gouki/Akuma and clearly looks like Akuma. It's not like Satsui no Hadou removes your baldness with a wild hair. Use some of those brain cell people.
I see it this way. Gouki was looking for this forbidden power and was told not to due so to the fact that it takes over your whole being, once he went for it, he became akuma, but even as akuma he only posses th power, until finally he gives in completely and the power posses him, in which case, Oni is a Demon in Gouki's Body.
as for Shin akuma, thats just the peak of his control as a human being wielding the Satsui no Hadou

That's a little harsh. He has a similar stance to Gouken's and throws fireballs the same way. People who caught a glimpse of him can be forgiven for thinking he might be connected to Gouken.
At this point there's no real way of knowing WHAT Oni is. He could be Akuma who has been completely taken over, he could be a level Akuma could only reach once he had tempted Ryu to give in to the Satsui no Hado; it could be that long ago, Gouken expelled all the evilness from his body as Akuma (like King Piccolo) or vice versa (Akuma expelled all the humanity from his body and it became his "brother" Gouken) and now when Akuma finally beats him, he reassimilates Gouken and powers up; he could be what Akuma has been all along and the prayer beads have sealed his power... it could be any number of things and without any info to go on, one explanation's as good as another.
I would go to say that Oni is a living entity of the Satsui no Hado. Akuma is a demon, but there was still some human in him. The human side still fought to be the strongest ever, just like Ryu's goal.
I believe that human side still existed because he would never kill Ryu, but rather want to have him get stronger so he can face a strong and worthy opponent; So he could gain the honor of facing the best.
With Oni, I feel that this is a new person. He's not Akuma. He's the Satsui no Hado. He's the killing intent.
But people who keep saying Oni is Gouken after given the valid reasons why he isn't, tend to get a bit annoying. Btw his begin stance when he resets is Gouki's stance, not Gouken's. Look a bit closer. Oh, and for noobs, Gouki is Akuma's original Japanese name. Shoushi!

I would just go with your perspective saying that Oni was all the evil expelled from Gouken's body. I'm saying this because Gouken and Gouki WERE brothers who grew up together and trained under the same master. They knew each other.
However, I would argue that Oni isn't the evil from Gouken because Oni, being pretty damn evil, would mean that Gouken had a lot of hate stored inside him.
I would think it'd be cool for tOni's story to be shady and unclear. It's fun to talk about it and make theories about his origin.
I have no idea what neone is talking about. First of Akuma is known as Gouki in Japan and so they are the same person regardless of satsui no hado. It is said when Akuma fights, he holds back to give his opponent a fighting chance and thus there is Shin Akuma when he is using his full power or so we thought. It could be that whatever power percentage of power akuma is using when he is Shin Akuma may not be his full potential and thus Oni comes into the fray. It would make sense as Oni means folklore and thus he is a legend or mythical creature. As for the gouken comparisons. I can see where people are coming from as he throws his hadoken in a similer way and has a variant of the running palm but he looks nothing like him and he plays a lot differently. It may be that when ryu gave into the satsui no hado he finally found a worthy opponent to unleash his full power. Most likely he is not even cannon like evil ryu and just a what if version more than anything
What happened to, "If you ever have the chance to fight him, you have the developer's blessing"? Both Evil Ryu and Oni boss versions are just as terrible as the normal AI.

Amazing how difficult it is for some of these fan boys to see those obvious traits, huh? Seems like they'll pull anything and every excuse out of their dumb a$$es merely because they don't want to believe that is Gouki. Oni is not some split entity or spirit and most certainly absolutely 10000% NOT Gouken! What is so hard about this? Even if Capcom wasn't to say sh*t about Oni officially, there is no reason he wouldn't be Gouki. Just wait for it though, you imbiciles. If it MUST be spelled out for you by Capcom themselves then you will be proven wrong again in due time. Shoushi!
I've been laughing at all the people that said Oni was Gouken since the beginning, for God sakes! do people don't recognize facial features anymore?. Is like Gouken having a beard and baldness have no meaning to them, nor the story, Gouken always avoided the practice of the Satsui No Hadou and he never taught Ryu and Ken the technique but always warned them about its dark powers. So why would he suddenly be posses by it?! much more at its full potential.

I would think that Akuma has found a technique that gave him the ultimate power, as you can see in the intro cutscene he walks and the ground breaks, and also he breaks the beads and they start flying like dragon ballz. So I would think that the beads hold a great power,and Akuma has found that power!
Oni is still akuma his body build,skin and hair changed
and there was a reason he took the pray beads from
goutestu. and if i remember correctly Ryu complains that
akuma threw his humanity away for dark powers or some crap
like that. so Oni is a mantel/alias for akuma like how
makaveli is 2pac.
