Capcom launches teaser site titled simply 'DD'

Updated: Oldboy posted in the comments that Capcom registered a trademark for the name Dragon's Dogma, which seemingly matches up really closely with this teaser site.

Launching something that may or may not be fighting game related, Capcom Japan put up a new website with the title "DD" and a countdown timer ending in about 7 days.

There's an outline around the timer, and the silhouette is difficult to make out, but it doesn't appear to be Frank West this time around.

Capcom's Captivate event starts tomorrow and there will be an explosion of new information concerning their fighting games on April 12, 2011, when the press embargo is lifted.

If you have any idea what to make of this, or just want to speculate, feel free to leave a comment below.

The only one that comes to mind is those arcade Dungeons & Dragons games from the 90's, which were pretty damn fun. The fact that the silhouette looks like a dragon points towards that too.

There's supposed to be a new Monster Hunter for the 3DS announced at Captivate, and that thing kind of looks like a monster to hunt. I don't think it's Darkstalkers, as much as I'd want it to be.

Well, the background noise is DEFINITELY reminiscent of Demon's Crest (SNES)

And it isn't a dragon, it looks like the Gargoyle from said game...

I dont have one anymore but if you download a Flash decompiler there's a chance you can grab the source Flash file and see the assets and we can get a perfect view of the things as well as look at if the code tells us anything at the end of it's cycle... O__O Sry Capcom.

It's not Firebrand, unless they completely changed the appearance of a character who has barely changed, even as recently as MvC3. There is a tail, the talons are different, the wings come out at a different angle and are shaped completely differently, and there appear to be shoulder pads. It's mostly likely Monster Hunter, considering Monster Hunter 3DS is all but confirmed at this point, and it looks like a monster more than it does Red Arremer.

In all seriousness though, I don't think it's Darkstalkers because it's "Vampire" in Japan, so it'd have to be VD or something.
I also doubt it's Breath of Fire. Inafune, when he was still at Capcom, mentioned that RPGs are too hard to compete with and people only buy the mainstream titles (i.e. DragonQuest, Final Fantasy, etc.). I'd love for it to be true though...
Though if it IS Darkstalkers/Breath of Fire, I'm willing to bet it'll be on 3DS.

If you love Monster Hunter get ready to meet an awesome rival.

It's an adventure/action game, everyone move along, nothing to see here. Unless, you also like games like this as well.
