3DS Super Street Fighter 4 will have over the shoulder perspective option

Posted by Catalyst

A short video is available which shows a over the shoulder perspective for Super Street Fighter 4 on Nintendo's 3DS. This clip isn't very long, so don't blink — you might miss it.

Thanks to SpeedBrkr for the tip.

so will there be yun and yang? and is it tested properly? because, the 3D tv's can cause people to throw up after prolonged watching up to an hour.. i think samsung has one that's slightly better then the sony 3D tv..

@EX_Ein: I will probably buy it just for this game (So sad).

The third person perspective is cool, at least it's something new! I always wondered how weird it would be to play this SF FPS style, tatsu's would be so crazy. It be damn near impossible to land the cross tatsu haha!

@Jakulagi

No Yun and Yang, Ono said that 3DS will have the console's 35 characters only.

How would this control with the over shoulder perspective and charge characters when you get crossed up? This seems like it'd be difficult to control.

The 3rd person angle reminds me of a Beat em up game.
Neat

Whats with the weird angle? Or is that just due to the angle of which the 3D is being filmed?

It's a 3rd person camera, not the 3DS

Every single fighting game ever released has been in third-person.

LMAO. Street Fighter IV and most traditional fighters are 3rd person already. The description you guys are looking for is an over-the-shoulder view or something like that. Definitely not 3rd person hahahaha.

@ #9...Um... You don't have to worry. PS3 version is already in 3rd person... so is the 360. I think you mean over the shoulder. There's a reason why the poster didn't call it 3rd person.

Anyways, no it would NOT be a good idea. I guess there's really no harm (or too much extra cost) in doing it. It might seem cool in the beginning, but it's really not practical. You are going to be playing a 3D game with 2D hit boxes. If you put the perspective in 3D as well (3D, as in polygons, not 3DS), It will throw off the gamer. There's a reason why the game is played from a 2D perspective and a reason why Capcom went with the 2D hit box. It just seems counterproductive to me...

For a second I thought they were fighting Rolento.

And everyone's planning on getting this 3DS? Really?
Oh my, looks like a lot of people will feel really bad when the PSP2 gets out...

#21...if Sony doesn't mess it up... they have a knack... But It IS out there. Even rumors coming from the patent office about it. MK dev team supposedly has had their hands on it.

This has to come soon. It's embarrassing that my friends' phones have better graphics than my PSP...

I want it...plain and simple. I'm a junky so buying this just to have in my possession is not a problem. I wonder if it will have mass online...hmm probably wouldn't work out though since wii internet with tatsunoko is horrible. Whatever...point being I will be a consumer to this product. I want to have that random encounter in the streets lol.
Now that over the shoulder view will be an odd twist to the mix indeed

I will never play like that, that'll be so confusing. It'll be interesting to see Supers and Ultras in that perspective, but not for normal gameplay.

Cool addition tho.

Cornwad
what has >>Nintendo<< ever said was one price in japan and not that near that estimate of the price in America?

Learn business, because at the end of the day Nintendo's goal is to make money and you can't make money by undercutting selling price when the parts of production are way higher.

RedRum6x3
you forgot the PSP ccame out late 04 in japan and early 05 in America and Sept in Euro
Rewind back to sept 05 and find a phone that cost less then a psp and looked better

It's pretty pointless when you can just get it on 360 or PS3 & play this on a big screen HDTV with beautiful graphics rather than play this game on a 3" or a 4" screen. LOL.

Loghorn
It's not the size of the screen it's how you use it, and that only applies to video games and only video games anything else it's bigger the better

@28

Can you take your PS3 and 360 and play SSFIV on the bus, at a library, on your breaks at work, or at school? No!

Loghorn said on September 30, 2010 at 6:49 p.m.

@30: I know that, but I'm just saying, if you already have the game on either the PS3 or the 360, why get it for a handheld system? Unless you want to play this game on the go, I don't see a point of shelling out $40, or $45 (?) for a port of the game.

@ 8ighty6ix
Really? There are so many good games coming for the 3DS: Metal Gear Solid 3, Dead or Alive, Zelda OoT, Resident Evil (2 games), Kid Icarus, and Megaman Legends 3. Even if this is a fighting game community, I feel it would be stupid buying a realatively expensive system for one game, especially when there is such a good line up besides that one game you want.
