ehhh I still think I want Super 4 PC. But I guess its ok lookin.
Looks kinda empty. Maybe as they reveal more chars they will spice it up and make it the baller cover it can be.
How come I see hidden people? Shadows on the left look like Batman (I know its impossible, just saying). I don't know how I feel about this and can't wait for the PS3 cover.
Some new sillouettes in the backround... Im thinking Beast on the left (or maybe just thor), and amaterasu on the right.
where is cyclops shooting his optic blast in the back? That's what's missing.
I'm not surprised Deadpool and Dante have the largest picture.
@nakalo...i wish its sigma we need a really good mega man x character in it since x wont make it
i dont think this is really the cover art. I've seen this picture else where. pretty sure this is photoshopped. sorry guys
Doubt this will be the final box art cover. (Though looking at the SSF4 box art doubts me again otherwise.)
Looks great if the game was out now with the current roster, but I hope Capcom spruces it up with the characters they have announced and more in the future.
Also they should clean up and seperate the Capcom and Marvel characters better, but I'm just nitpicking, it's just box art.
(The cover looks...sparse. MVC series should be bursting w/ chars, and it should reflect that on the cover. Kinda funny seeing Deadpool lookin' mad serious though. and I REALLY think Spiderman is going to be on the cover. And he's going to be big.)
Meh, I honestly don't like it very much. Way too busy for my tastes. I liked the title "Marvel vs Capcom 3" placed firmly over a flat background like the ones displayed on the official site (probably a limited edition style or something), because it was simple but pretty damn slick. We really don't need all of those characters on the cover but it might be the only way since this game is trying to reach a greater demographic and display to newcomers the sheer amount of characters in this single release so I can fully understand the classic "gathering characters for the art of a crossover game.
Hakan-
-Everybody's face is serious on there. I really don't think that's the final cover. Can you think of a cover where the cast is shadowed?
-Spiderman not being on the cover is a HUGE no-no from a marketing standpoint.
-Replace Felicia and Morrigan (Felicia is so unpopular by comparsion)
-Wesker and Magneto need a spot for pure evilness
-Ammy needs to be on the cover because she gained MASSIVE popularity and is nice diverse spot on the cast.
-T-Bonne or Zero should make it there too for the Mega Man fans
-Arthur in his boxers would be nice.
IMPORTANT: Put teasing Sillhoettes of Godhand and Ace Attorney on the box somewhere for DLC purposes.
@#45 ("Hrm"):
I think the size of the logo is just right, in that it doesn't overly obscure the character art all to hell, like most North American Capcom game covers have done for many years now.
On a couple unrelated notes, I have always thought that the number three itself in the MVC3 logo looks like absolute sh*t in design, from an artistic AND a marketing standpoint, AAAAANNNNND I STRONGLY feel that Capcom owes EVERY Vanilla SF AND SSF4 owner in North America THE Japanese box art inserts for the abominations that actually shipped for American consumers.
American boxart AND censorship in video games has always been a huge irk of mine.
With the Japanese versions of Rival Schools 1 AND 2, Marvel Super Heroes Versus Street Fighter (Norimaro was for Japanese import version only!), and with certain intro and win poses for characters in the ENTIRE SFZ/SFA series.
Birdie, for instance, used to give you the middle finger and say "Go to hell" for a lot of his win poses.
Americans got the switchblade comb pose to replace the middle finger pose's "command".
The North American version of SFZ2 and the Japanese SFZ Collection's "SGZ2 Dash" on the Sega Saturn were the two BEST and most complete versions of those two games, at the time. I didn't test it all out on the "SFA Anthology" on PS2, but anyway...
Rival Schools 1 had the bonus disc content and "Remix" version of the Arcade mode, etc., which allowed for a custom character, as well as the second Rival Schools game, which was on the Dreamcast.
Back in the day, if you wanted the best version of a Capcom fighting game, you had to go with the Japanese import.
In almost every case, the North American version would LOSE content, be censored all to hell AND leave you feeling cheated out of what should've been included with the price you paid for your games.
The last game that did that bullsh*t to me was Yakuza 3 on PS3.
Thankfully, and still to be SEEN to be believed, Yakuza 4 won't have AS much of the content taken out of the North American version of the game, but it's still another case of butchered localization.
Capcom and a lot of other game companies need to STOP this bullsh*t, and a good start would be to NOT give us crappy, amateurish photoshop collages for game covers. -Just give us what the Japanese get, damn you!
Man don't even speak about how bad north america art covers were do anybody remember those famous box covers? http://funboxcomedy.com/2008/05/mega-...
Man i remember me and my cousin when we were kids was always trying to figure out what the f*** was they thinking about when they give megaman a damn pistol in that cover but when in the game he clearly has a arm cannon x_x the worst game cover in the history of video games.
never tought of onimusha------that would b badass......blade2.....& the guy from the reno guy from that movie
Shinkiro knows how to draw the characters. I remember when he did the arts for K.O.F back in the days were K.O.F was a very good game. Now K.O.F 13 use the horrible art of NONA and its no longer the same game anymore.
Never let this artist go Capcom! do not make the same mistake that SNK did.
To offer a cure to simple confusion, the dark haired man next to Chun-Li and Hulk is Chris Redfield. It is still uncertain (although it is quite obvious) that our favorite photographer, Frank West is in this game. And furthermore why, in the love of all that is sacred, would it be the new Dante? His image has just been released and we're already assuming that he's in a fighting game that already has a Dante in it?
This cover will probably change. I can't imagine they'd leave Spider-Man off.
okay you guys are idiots for saying cyclops needs to be in it even though he has been confirmed to NOT be in the game
though as DLC he wouldnt be bad
still wish ghost rider and man thing could be in it
i agree it looks like an early form of box art, but i think they wouldnt add silhouettes on the cover
Yeah, I'm betting this is gonna change when the game's release date is closer, or after they reveal a few more characters.
for me.. I DON'T like this art style at all. I think this style first appeared in SNK games then somehow capcom also used it(example resident evil outbreak 1 and 2, dead aim, CvSnk 2). I like SF2/SF3/SF4 drawing/art style.
Never understood the big hub-bub about premiering box art. So what its not like a new character or feature to the game its box art. Some graphic designers idea of what would look good, and most of the time its just clipped and pasted.
@49 (Birdie): They could make the logo large without obscuring the characters by simply shifting the size of the character art slightly. I think they need to fill it out with some more characters, though (Which I get the feeling they're planning to do.)
Some sort of background instead of plain white would be nice as well. In fact, just taking the current design and putting it on a black background would be considerably classier looking imo.
Cover using a black background: http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/80...
that cover looks fresh
but every Marvel and Capcom character looks too real except for Felicia she looks like a realistic person with extremely eye plastic surgery to make her self look animeish
Its ok...i dont think this is gonna be the cover art for the official game though when its released...neeeds more characters. Besides..WHERES SPIDERMAN!?
Until marvel or capcom says scott summers or cyclops wont be in the game, the fans will keep asking for him.
Meh, I think they could have made it more crazy and hype... I mean, they have a lot to work with.
Shadow on the left is Thor, on the right is Ammy.
Those asking if that is Frank, I think it is Chris.
It does seem odd that they have already made a cover with out all the characters revealed. Though, I do like my super secret characters, makes it all the more fun to unlock and be surprised.
Can someone tell me who the orange faced dude is to the right of Iron mans head?...Ive yet to see any characters hat resemble him....it looks like the thing from fantastic 4..........WHO IS THAT!!!!
Ah oh yeah i can see that now. Thanks, why orange though haha, GOLD HULK RETURNS?!?!
I am hoping this isn't the final one... It looks good, but not SPECTACULAR... So hopefully, it will be even better.
Can anyone tell if Morrigan is "censored" on the cover art? ala ~ http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capco...
taken from the MVC3 site. :( not cool.
looks nice--not feeling the art style--looks like capcom fighting evolution-(MY OPINION)...2 soon 2 tell if this it legit-----im still waiting 4 EL FUERTE-MORPH-BLANKA-& sum onimusha characters-------------------- COME ON CAPCOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imagine Morph...........him changing into characters u haven't seen yet & in game characters 2 when u get the game...pretty badass------& EL FUERTES ANNOYING @SS-------WOOOOWW in a mvc game
Yes yes that looks so awesome! They should keep it, Look at Felicia. She looks so cute.
It sux, and Spiderman's not in it soo it's obviously fake. Spiderman is always a poster boy.
I think it looks pretty good. I imagine more characters being added in as time progresses.
