so is this tourny goin with the new super cabinet? or is it console? i dont see yun or yang in the chara select screen
I don't know if it's my computer, because all I see are white screen, and I can't even go to the ustream.tv page.
Wait... Boss? As in the 3rd Strike God, THAT Boss?? WICKED
I'm wondering if they'll be able to get all four streams going... Looks to me like their internet connection can't support that many going at once. Seems like they're having some trouble with three streams.
Not trying to take anything away from what the NSB team is doing btw, running even two streams at the same time is very impressive.
If you're having trouble viewing the streams, please try these direct links.

Black screen. It says there's about 2500 people in each stream but I can see anything.
Is it Ustream that has the International viewer cap?
I thought they are supposed to stick to the 2 chars. Why did JWONG go out first with Makoto?
Am i the only one who can't see any of the streams?
momochi on guile? this one is the least expected.. wonder if he can pull it off with guile like he did with akuma in vanilla. his tactics and combo skills in sf4 were almost unmatched.
wow... EG won again. Ricky raped 3 of them on his own.
I mentioned this the other day and said to wait for NSB. The JP players, rightfully, know the arcade vanilla in and out (and got matched up against Kim's team, who was very much so ready for them). This is shaping up to be a much better outing for the US team.
There's also some really great Chun play going on, always nice to see.
Best 8
Group A tobigaotineeyo (tobigaotineeyo,Uryo,Kuma)
Group B pizzabeast (kokujin RB Taiwanese)
Group C Team Madcatz (daigo machi momochi)
Group D managers (R nyanshi Gonta)
Group E kinpatu butayarou (Kindevu Eita Tokido)
Group F Evil Genius (Justin Ricky Marn)
Group G Heisei no naporeon (freeda Ken Riki)
Group H densetu no butayarou (Edesuketubatto Haneyama Chakku)
Kokujin made it to top 8? Guess he levelled up his Ryu. Last time I saw it, he was terrible. Too bad he's not playing Dudley :(
Oh SH!T. Team Daigo vs Team Wong is up next!
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs...
TGS Japan impressions from Niitsuma san on MvC3
Marn has been playing out of his mind this whole tourney. Great match.
And once again Wong falls to Daigo. Great set from both teams.
Excellent play by Daigo for the win over JWONG. Baller.
the beast saves his team. y u fail usa justin Y?
Yer Marn is really on spectacular form with his Dudley... Wong vs. Beast! Trade uppercut into ultra... Thats why we don't jump at the beast. Great viewing.
it's one game. don't make a big deal of out it people. this tournament is more of a friendly one.
f Guile's quick charge and fast recovery that is all...
Justin should have at least tried u2 for chip in that last round
Also, it's been a while since I've seen a trade into Ultra with Ryu in Super.
Would have been nice if they would have met in the actual finals, but we got a great match nonetheless. Justin has to get rid of that U2 against Daigo because it just isn't applicable in enough situations to make it worthwhile. He's always on-point with U1, so I really can't say why he shouldn't just stick it out with it.
Never liked Marn as a player, but today he is simply amazing. Really great performance, i think today he was the strongest in team EG.
Who the hell is making that noise everytime when Guy lands a hit?
Daigo is Justin Wong's final boss. Game over for him.
@120
They're useless now. The results will now be updated on the top of this page.
Kokujin is the greatest hype man in Street Fighter history. Too bad he's not the strongest SSFIV player. And RB had a SICK Guy. Almost reversed OCV'ed the other team.
"Justin should have at least tried u2 for chip in that last round"
Ryu ex srk beats chip u2.
oh wow- anti air messiah LK follow on, U1 juggle. Didn't even know that was possible...
@126
Don't we usually see that all the time when Wong does it with ex messiah?
Emphasis on tried... It beats cowering in the corner something is better than nothing I guess
Aww man I wanted Tokido's team to meet Daigo's in the finals.
Ima say team Madcatz gonna lose in the final, Daigo is like some kind of curse when it comes to team battle :) .
Hi, can someone help me please. the stream is not working for me, when i click on the links provided, it says error: page cannot be displayed please contact your service provider. it was working earlier tonight.. but its not anymore now.
Nyanshi's face after he lost the first round was priceless, lol
guys can somebody help please. the stream links are not working. can someone please provide an alternate link
@127: Not really, honestly. The MSK is a great move for tricking opponents who get antsy, but it also isn't exactly ideal anti-air material (unlike the SRK which is great for both air and ground). The important bit is that the SRK can trade with Rufus's dive kicks every. single. time. If Rufus does a messiah kick, Ryu just has to mash out an SRK to beat the follow-ups (or just block, then do it lest Rufus cancels out of it).
Machi cleaned up in the final, kudos to team Mad Catz
freaking ken and his glitchy ultra come on someone had to say it...
Momochi mostly played with U1 and switched to U2 against Team Tokido, but never got the chance to use it.
I was really impressed with Marns links, really world class. Made for excellent viewing! I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing Guy represented at a high level, I had previously written him off, but they really showed his potential. Beast seemed as formidable as ever, and Machi in the final?
I don't know the finals didn't feel like a finals as compared to Madkats vs EG match
Oops, posted that before I finished, meant to add that Machi was totally on form in the final. Defense like Alcatraz.
Lol Marn wins a t-shirt at the end and the commentator says: 'Sorry Marn, we only have M-size...'
That was funny.
Marn vs Daigo was nice, 1-2. Major comebacks from both players. Duds is scary man.
tbh i think this was the best time for justin wong to win this tournament but he still couldnt cause the japanese hasnt even played super on the arcades yet so imagine when they get arcades they will stomp on justin just like they do in vanilla.
A number of people have been having problems with uStream today. A few can't access it at all, while others have been good to go.
If you have a different browser installed, give that a try. And if you can figure out another solution, leave a comment here with what you found out so other people can use the workaround as well.
@166: In the actual tournament, the EG team had a great showing. There's no reason to undermine the whole thing. The Japanese players have been playing Super as much as anybody for the past few months considering there wasn't even an announcement of a Super arcade until recently. To stay current, they had no choice but to play it--in fact, if you've been watching the usual JP streams, virtually all of the top players have been playing online pretty constantly.
EG rocked this tournament, they just happened to BARELY lose to the overall best team. Daigo's fireball pattern became unreadable in the JWong match, so there was no way to use U2. Ricky did great, but I was especially impressed with Marn. His Dudley is scary as hell...
Why didn't Uryo use Sakura?.... Sigh I wanted to see what he could do with her in a tournament such as this....
Lol at Japan sucks cause there is no arcade release. If that were true then they wouldn't be on the psn/xbox leaderboards with 5000+ matches under their belt. So they got practice and why you go to a tournament when you are rusty anyway.
Arcade or not Marn was just wrecking people and they were the only team who got to play Daigo. Also John Rambo's team in ST got past 1st round so it's not like we are free. And yes this single elim. Where random bs like trade ultra cost jwong the round. In japan you got no choice but accept that.
most tournaments are not there to determine who is the best or who are the top players.
double elimination on a 3v3 will take forever to finish.
it doesn't really determine who is 2nd, 3rd too.
you know Team A beats Team B, Team B beats Team C.
it doesn't mean team A is better than Team C.
Round-robin best of 10 games would be the better way to determine is who better
Ricky O. got second place at eov which is double elimination. You really think he is the second best SSF4 player at evo?
Sako never attends tournaments he's too busy playing xbox live.
@185 Evo is better in some ways because you at least you get to see new up coming players where as Togeki it's mostly the same people who dominate the qualifiers
@spotlesseden
You make absolutely no sense. Your example is a single elimination tournament, which proves my point. You can read the short version of pros and cons of double elimination here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_e...
The long version would be reading a mathematical book on tournament brackets and statistics. You might be wondering why on earth anyone would go to great lengths to mathematically analyze these things, but in other sports it seriously affects gambling.
Not only that but it's one match and the events ends too quickly. Best of 10 single elim though was entertaining moreso than Tougeki.
@spotlesseden
If "most tournaments are not there to determine who is the best or who are the top players", then what is the whole point of having a tournament? Streaming entertainment on ustream.com??
You argued that double elimination of 3vs3 would take forever to finish, yet you suggest round robin? While I never argued that round robin is worse at determining rankings, round robin would take MUCH longer to finish, especially "best of 10".
@Baller600: "Here is the fact: Tougeki>EVO"
Yeah, I don't think so. Any number of events, both in the US and Japan, were better than SBO--much less EVO. I didn't think this year's EVO was dynamite, but it was certainly a lot better than SBO could have ever been.
#190
"then what is the whole point of having a tournament? Streaming entertainment on ustream.com??

most tournaments are there for entertainment. the best player/best team don't always win the tournament.
When I mean tournaments, i don't mean SF fighting game tournaments. i mean all tournaments.
you don't see my point. i said "10 games" because it will take forever. maybe weeks.
double elimination doesn't really work like you people think. If you think Rick is better than J wong because he got second place at evo, then you are wrong. Vangief beat J wong, it doesn't mean he is better than J wong.
tennis is probably has the best way to determining who is better. Because a random #125th player beat the #1 ranked player in a random tournament. at the end of the day, that #1 ranked player is still rank higher than him.
@178
Yeah I think so to... I guess it shows if the best Sakura player in the world is afraid to use her... Capcom needs to work on her a bit more. Sigh....
marn was phenominal, he is showing dudleys potential in full colors, he was extremely good during the tournament and if he keeps up getting better at this rate after the AE changes marn could go for #1.
@ spotlesseden
Sorry, I don't agree with you. I don't place sports tournaments in the same category as Desperate Housewives or WWE Raw/Smackdown.
Tennis rankings are based on multiple games, multiple tournaments, etc. While Ricky Ortiz may not be better than Justin Wong in the long run, he certainly played better in that tournament including the fact that he beat one of the players who eliminated Justin Wong. While one tournament doesn't determine the best player on a cumulative level, it certainly does determine the best player on that day, in that tournament. And without these individual tournaments, you'd never collect the data required for your precious ATP #1 tennis players.
But I don't think you understand my original point: a double elimination tournament has a more credible 2nd place holder than a single elimination tournament.
I trust my sources (books on statistics, brackets, gamblings) more than an opinionated Street Fighter. ;-)
I wonder if the fact that Justin doesn't eat before a tournament affects his concentration and execution. I for one can not concentrate on an empty stomach. His team made it far but I wonder if eating might give him that extra 10-15% he needs to win those tough matches.
@baller600 Wow i state my opinion and should shut it go f off you give the japanese too much credit Eita and Tokido both got beat out at Evo if they are so high level how come they didn't make it all the way key difference team vs. single competition most of them would get beat out plus Evo at least brings in a lot of people to participate so the young blood can get there name out SBO not so much.
uuh Tokido plays ton of online for SSF4 as seen on his replays he's already at 20 thousand points
I actually got to sit down and talk with Tokido, Eita and Kuni regarding the issue of SSFIV being released to console and how they felt it affected the Japanese community. Mainly because PotatoHead and I got off our flight for EVO and saw them while we were boarding the tram toward the baggage pick-up.
One would think that the console-only release would be detrimental to a heavily arcade based community that communicates a lot regarding the game in person at game centers rather than online, but actually the opposite has happened. Tokido and Kuni both said at first they were wary about the console-only release as did the community did as a whole. But as more people gave it a try, especially when it was known Daigo was playing online, perceptions changed and they even questioned if needing an arcade version was absolutely necessary anymore. It also helped seeing more Japanese based SSF4 online resources other than just 2ch gamefight pop up (sf4 mixi, the ssf4 bbs on livedoor.jp, etc.) and the addition of saved replays which you did not have for arcades.
So to say that Japanese players have "fallen behind" because there has been no arcade release is not entirely true at least not in the view points of those Japanese players I was able to talk with.
Yo! Marn your dudley is so dirty! You ain't no damn gentleman at all. Keep it classy Snorlax!
Kuni the old school player right? He plays SSF4?
@baller600 well then your ignorant Evo Tokido lost to JR another Akuma user and then got eliminated by Floe with Rufus Eita eliminated by oh my god americans Infiltration by Ricky O, Gamerbee by Mike Ross well lookie there american's beating Japanese players (and taiwanese).
Also Tokido plays a ton of SSF4 how in the hell would he be at 23,000 BP with one character if he barely plays so ignoramus get off your little japanese rose colored glasses since america is slowly closing the gap a lot better than some of the other countries except for Ryan he always has Daigo's number.
Also it showed EG beat are you ready for this japanese players and look they actually made Daigo dust of his hands to play since again I know this scares you they beat his other two japanese comrades.
So get off japanese nuts that's so not baller
@212
3 Foreigners and 5 WCs players... WC seems to be the strongest region overall imo.
In a single elim team tournament where you can't use the same effin chars. So marn and ricky has to use alts. Also the setting basically says who have the best contacts. How can a random japanese guy persuade the likes Daigo to join a team? And in NSB Daigo played 1 MATCH and won a tournament. What bs is that really?
I'm glad that evo japan is happening. Maybe it would shut people like you up. And Tokido do use honda otherwise he wouldn't pick him up as a 2nd alt. Eita also lost a 1st to 3 MM to an American Elf player.
We catching up and why are you saying japanese are rusty? That's like saying they suck.
"Really Tokido wasn't serious in EVO as he's in Tougeki. He was toying using Honda and got 4 perfects after after switching back to his main."
Proof your a fanboy making excuses for him did he tell you this becuase if he did why even bother going. Also Tokido ended up losing to Marn in the Salty Room to his Dudley showing that the gap is closing.
Funny how you leave out The super turbo in which Rambo's team made it to the second round but no leave that part out.
PS: it's pronounced noob you twit can't even insult right
He never said double elim team tourney stupid get your head out of you rear and read just characters.
Just curious as to what country your from since you believe USA is so ignorant. By the way dumbass Tokido didn't get 4 perfects in his match against Hugo101 WTF match were you watching.
I'm pumped!Bring the matches!
