Yoshinori Ono responded to quite a few fans on his Twitter account. He dropped a few more hints about what might be in store, but the main message was that if you want to see something added into a Capcom fighting game — request it.
Please add in Urien and Poison into SSF4! :D
Ono: [I've had] a lot of [requests] from fans...
Will we see the new arcade characters as DLC on the consoles?
Ono: We don't have [a plan for it]. But a lot of [people have asked for it]. I'll try talk to Capcom's tops.
Can you please tell us when you will release the new costumes for SSFIV?
Ono: Autumn. Maybe in October or November.
Will we get Yun and Yang for PS3/360?
Ono: We don't have [a plan for] it, but if can we [get a lot of requests for it], Capcom may do [it].
Please add a guard break meter to your next Street Fighter game!
Ono: Umm, I'll tell it to the Battle Director. ;)
New Darkstalkers. Will I ever see my monsters again?
Ono: Umm, I wish [I could be making a new] Darkstalkers, but Capcom didn't [approve] it. Woe is me. =(
Can we have Championship mode back in SSF4?
Ono: I'll tell it's order to OL designer. ;D
Ok, I'm sick and tired of this "I want this character, I want that character" crap. Ono if you can read this, I've got pitch for a new SF game for yea. The next SF game is a CvS style 3 vs 3 game, but with EVERY SF CHARACTER EVER MADE! That way me, and hopefully most people, don't have to put up with this carp EVER AGAIN!
Urien? Who the heck wants that speedo-wearing freak?
Also, whining for more characters got old months ago.
I can't believe Ono can't confirm the changes made in SSFIV:AE for the console versions, I thought it'd be a no brainer that those changes would find their way to console SSFIV.
In the rare scenario that they don't appear on console SSFIV, we could say we've been left with an "incomplete" game? That'd really suck Ono, please confirm the changes already? Teasing for something like new characters and costumes is alright, but teasing about the way the game will play is not something to laugh at. /rant
Ono-san plz NO ELENA, shes not even a good playable char to be in this game, add Q instead hes actually cool enough to be in ssfiv
They don't have plans for it? Oh come on Capcom you really expect us to believe that? There's no way they would just release the new characters on the arcade version when the console scene dominates the US. We are just as big a market for SSF4 as Japan is and it would not be good business to snub an entire fan base. So yes Ono, you have a request from me (and every other SSF4 player in the US) to add the new characters to the consoles.
you wanna fu*kin kiddin me???
first you say SSF4 for arcades is not planed!
than it happens and you add TONS of new chars in it!
than you say SSf4 is not coming to PC!
now it IS coming!
now you say SSF4 Arcade is NOT planed for the konsoles!
WOULD YOU PLEASE SHUTDAFU*KUP ono and give us the fu*kin release date for the fu*kin DLC goddamit
I think rather than adding new characters, they should work on making the existing ones more individual. That way, half the cast isn't a variant on the fireball + anti-air archetype.
@ 13
wait for MvC3
i think he's in the rumor list that is ABSOLUTELY right for now
Can you increase Balrog's Ultra 2 (Dirty Bull) to deal more damage?
No brained yeah, but wouldn't releasing the DLC to the comfort of our own homes onto the consoles detract from people going to the arcade to play this game? Only the arcade purists and hardcore fans would venture to the arcade, since there a bit harder to find these days. I'm with you though, DLC update complete with new characters, balance changes, etc would be great to have right off the bat, but I think they'll release the arcade version and give it a few months before the DLC. You know it's bound to come out eventually. It's a bit of a slippery slope, because they cant have one without alienating the other. In due time.
GIVE US YUN AND YANG FOR PS3 AND 360....even though its probably gonna happen anyway lol. And btw Poison shouldnt be in i'd much rather Hugo. Poisons just eye-candy....on second thoughts...eh throw her in.
They will give us the patches and characters, there is no way they will have two diferent versions of the game in championships, that sounds just ridiculously stupid....
GUARD METER
YESSSSSSSSSS
But seriously, my biggest request is for them not to go on a nerfing spree.
And as for the updates for the 360/psn, they need to keep it exclusive for the arcades for awhile other wise the arcade operates wont be interested in buying. keep it exclusive till the summer, then do a full balance pass on the arcade and then bring that last verison to the console.
Ono-San please add in Urien, Rolento, R. Mika, Karin, Elena, Alex, Poison, Sodom, Hugo, Birdie, Charlie, Q, Remy, Oro, Sean, Necro, Twelve, Gill, Lucia, Yang, Yun, Eagle, Retsu, new characters for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, DLC Update for PlayStation 3 with adding more new stages also and also balance tweaks, patches. Ono-san when is Street Fighter 5 going to be released for Playstation 3?
Man... Ono really wants DarkStalkers 4 made stupid CAPCOM and PR staff let him do it he said its his dream project!!! I think he is just teasing again Yun and Yang will be on consoles why would they pass up a good opportunity too make more cash? I am guessing they wont add Yun and Yang yet until they finish the other characters they are planing to put in. That's my theory.
Ono-San we need more new stages to be added in Super Street Fighter IV arcade edition and dlc for playstation 3. Ono-san is capcom planning to release any more versions of Street Fighter IV?
Jonny
What they SHOULD do is...
Take out that space at the bottom of the screen where the Ultras names are which NOBODY HAS EVER USED FOR ANYTHING!
They flash for like a second...
And put a STUN METER there!
Id like to see how much work Im doing toward it, without guessing!
If they don't release the characters for console it will ruin the tournament scene between japan and the rest of the world. Not everyone has access to an arcade, most of us practice and play at home. Japan will stick to their arcade format and the rest of the world will use the console.
Actually, there's a pretty good reason for not releasing the new characters as DLC immediately after SSF4 arcade release: it would hurt arcade operator's revenue A LOT which in turn would hurt SSF4 arcade sales. Maybe in Japan the impact wouldn't be as big as in the US or other places, but still would be considerable.
That's exactly what killed arcades outside of Japan in the first place: why go out to play at an arcade when you can just sit on your couch an fire up your console to play the exact same game?
#32 That's a great idea! SSF4 really needs a stun meter badly I hate not knowing also. Hmmm I think commenter #29 theory is rite. They probably are still adding more characters before they release it as a DLC
#35 nice idea, but it could end up we get another Seth
just a question. probably doesn't belong here.
Alot of people have recently been up in arms and gung ho about street fighter characters looking realistic. Even going as far as to criticize the character illustrations, pointing out things that wouldn't not make sense in real life.
i just don't understand where this sentiment is coming from. Street fighter has always been in the realm of cartoony. if they wanted to opt for realism, i doubt it'd be the powerhouse it is today. Remember how no one went gaga for Street Fighter II the Movie; the game?
@PaiZuri #32
Hell Yea! I second that! I'd like to know where im at with stun too. I dont think guard meter would be wise unless we could air block. And then thats a completely different game! I loved the UOH system, it made guard meter unnecessary. i dont think we'd be crushing any guards with this reversal window anyway! XD
@ SHOGUN #18
I did not think about that side of the marketing. Very smart. That would also explain why Ono wont confirm or deny console DLC. if he doesnt say anything, arcades will still sell. Then he can still release DLC. Man, i cant wait though.
p.s. I Know everyone hates when people do this but... I really want Alex lol
All I have to do is request a character to get them in and have the request be popular enough?
Yeah right.
The requests were off the charts for Phoenix Wright. And tons of people have been rooting for Karin.
No one asked for X-23. No one asked for Yun and Yang.
Cut this crap out, Ono.
I keep telling you guys that Arcade Edition is just another way to say "Turbo", of course it'll hit homes, and of course they'll be a retail version of it. Of course they'll be a reduced price on it. Of course they'll be lots of new characters. Of course they'll be new mechanics. Of course Ono will troll the inevitable. Of course we should already know the answers, but of course, people act like they don't know.
Capcom has never said that SSF4 is coming to the PC.
It is a given that the new characters and balance changes will come to console, maybe Capcom just wants to gauge the public's interest before spending more money on it.
Just play your SSF4 until then, yelling gets you nowhere.
Actually #42 has a point.
Capcom seems to do what it wants regardless of what anyone says. Who actually asked for Yun & Yang? Why were they at the top of the list? So, it's all kind of BS. By his own admission, it doesn't even sound like Ono has much influence with the decision making at Capcom. :\
@37
The said winner wouldn't have all the games best moves and be hella cheap, like Seth.
I was thinking introducing A new fighting discipline for the character that syncs with the fan in question.
For example: I practice Capeoira and Vale Tudo, but since Elena is already the well known user of Capeoira in the SF universe, the character made to my likeness would use Vale Tudo. The discipline of the in-game character should sync with the real-life fan's life AND personality. :)
i kind of wish they just pick up Rival Schools again...its one of my favorite games of all time and its been far too long
Urien..? Who wants him?dont we already have seth..!
yo capcom is f**kin up no DLC?!! or they don't have a plan yet? wack... had us going on for nothing, thanks capcom...
OK THIS CONSTANT TEASING FROM ONO OR WHOMEVERS RESPONSIBLE ABOUT NEW CHARACTERS IN SSF4 NEEDS TO STOP!!!!!!!! IT'S SOOO ANNOYING!!!
If you are going to tease, at least do it in a less annoying way. They've been posting pictures of skateboards and rollerskates almost in the past month in relation to new characters in SSF4. Not to mention showing off two new open slots available @ the character select screen prior to that, and its like.... "OK WE GET IT!!!, Yun and Yang are the new fighters. On to the next piece of valuable SOLID info please!!!!" Who the hell else are associated with rollerskates and skateboards besides those two in the franchise. How dumb do they think we are by making us second guess? Why tease about it for months on end when it's more than obvious about who they are hinting at?
They need to just release some info on the game thats a bit more valid or useful instead of all this teasing and begging about new characters. And if there will be new characters near completion enough to where they can show them off in gameplay...JUST F**KING SHOW THEM!!!! Stop asking Ono the same damn questions where he's always responding with the same vague annoying answer, a smile and that annoying ass blanka toy. Sure one can easily ignore it and not complain about it, but thats ALLLL i see almost when I frequent this site lately, and its getting really annoying.
Wake me up when they have something solid to show or their teasing method of new fighters becomes somewhat clever. I'll keep staying heads up on news of MvC3 as it comes...sinces that seems to be the only game Capcom seems to be releasing more solid and valid info on anyway.
@47Drift
X-23 is a Marvel character so she's not a good example. There were people who wanted Yun and Yang. Phoenix Wright might just make it in someday, do't give up!
@theMASman
You might want to check on Capcom related news less often then. Real news are usually weeks in between so it's mostly just teasing to build hype in between.
Ono-San can you please put Rolento in Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and DLC console version for PlayStation 3 and also put some new stages for SSFIV Arcade Edition and DLC Console version of PlayStation 3?
@ all the people talking DLC
It's obvious Ono is only saying that so people will rush out to get the arcade exclusives for a while. DLC will eventually make it too console after the Arcades have made their money, this will help Capcom make even more money ;).
Pretty smart business if you ask me
I want more stages and more characters of Alex, Elena, Hugo, Urien, Necro, Oro, Sean, Q, Twelve, Birdie, Charlie, Karin, R. Mika, Sodom, Rolento, Retsu, Geki, Eagle, Maki, Hagger, Lucia, new characters for Super STreet Fighter IV arcade edition along with dlc consoles of PS3 and patches.
Take out safe moves on block in ssf4, especially with charge characters its not fair that you can turtle then sneak out a move thats safe on block. I can understand if the move is maxed ranged but bison light scissor, balrog dash punches, etc its lame cause they already down backing all day. The updates for SSF4:AE looks good minus seth and cammy ... cammy needs a decent cross up and if you do take out seths hard punch at least give me more hp!!!
oh yea blanka's shenanagin hop is a little too good also
Ono/CApcom,
What a stupid/foolish/asinine thing to do if these changes and new characters would not be available for consoles as DLC. We have new Alts as DLC - so there views on DLC are moot at this point. It should eventually happen.
Now as far as characters go. I really don't think they'll stop with just Yun and Yang. At least I hope not. There is room for The twins look like a good addition So I Hope I can give them a try.
I'm not the only one that wants Karin back in as well as Rolento.
Whenever we request to Ono on twitter he usually says.
Character: Oh He/She is busy rite now.....
Maps: Umm, I'll tell it to the Battle Director. ;)
etc.
This is BS. How can there be no plans to bring the new arcade characters to console. That's just STUPID.
We need to advocate for a console update to have all of the features of the arcade. It's setting the Americans back so damn far its not even funny.
I don't ask Ono anymore. I ask the magic 8 ball on my desk.
Dear Ono-San, my owner and Mr. Hibiki would like to be in MVC3 or SFxT(This one's more likely). Please let us know as oily as possible!
(Also, put R. Mika(Female Grappler is yes!), Alex(His theme's pretty rockin' and I don't want to buy TVC), and Elena(I like her theme) in SSFIV and release it for consoles @-@! Don't even tease about not coming to consoles T-T!)
Gotta add in Rolento, he is the only SFA character I liked thats not added to the SSF4 roster. C'mon! Sakura, Dan, Adon, Guy, Cody, Rose!!!! It's no surprise Rolento should be next. Plus he plays a good antagonist role in Final Fight, throwing bombs and shi*. Make it happen Ono san!
come on Ono,your so freakin slow, just announce new characters already
and come on Ryota Niitsuma(the producer of Marvel vs Capcom 3 & Tatsunoko vs Capcom) does a better, scene he announce Spidey and Wesker at TGS
#81 I want DarkStalkers4 too but the God damn PR staff don't want to accept Ono's proposal. Ono wants to make DS4 he says it's his dream project.
I think the changes / additions to 'Arcade Edition' will eventually make it to home consoles as DLC, but not for a while. If the initial rumors are to be believed, there are at least four more characters to be revealed (either before or perhaps after its supposed December 2010 release). Then I think Capcom will give the arcades time to find the 'bugs' and release the DLC sometime in the spring, approximately a year from the release date of SSFIV, if not later (Does Capcom want to interfere with the release of MVC3 in spring 2011?). Ideally it would be free, one, because you can't beat free, and two, they could avoid splitting the user base as well as angering players. If Capcom charges for this update would it cost more than the costumes packs?
The endless silence, disinformation, and even outright lies from Capcom/Ono are beginning to make me very angry. Does it work, as a marketing strategy? Yes, it does. But they take it much too far, especially lately. It's getting beyond teasing, more into... I don't even know what, insanity perhaps. There was supposed to be a big reveal from the Tokyo Game Show, and what do we get? Next to nothing, that's what! I'm sick of this BS! Especially when we know full well that even when they say they're not doing something, they might be lying! Ono seriously needs to grow some damn respect for Capcom's customer base, because as things stand it looks a lot like we're just a big joke to him.
God dammit Capcom, let Ono make a new Darkstalkers. I'm personally very tired of seeing all this new Street Fighter stuff, I'm pretty burned out from it already.
Darkstalkers would be an excellent alternative to Street Fighter. I mean, if games like Blazblue can sell well then Darkstalkers can too.
There is a facebook group to support Ono's cause, not to advertise it for my own sake, but for the possibility of ever getting a new game period. You can join it here:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?...
Invite/tell anyone whos interested about it. I even linked to the petitions/forums where signatures are needed.
Capcom's PR machine is piloted by dicks.
Some of the crap they feed the reporting media and in turn their own fan-base is hilarious.
I feel there's still a lot of people suffering from an inflated sense of entitlement though, which tends to be rife within many gaming communities.
Ono should wear that Chun-Li outfit of his and spinning bird kick the PR staff in the face.
#97 I like the way you think. Somebody already pitched the idea to Ono he just gave his usual answer. I would enjoy playing that on the big screen and online with people.
Ono is full of it, he knows it'll get onto consoles in due time.
A company turning down money is like a tiger turning down red meat, not going to happen.
Also, people aren't going to stop going to the arcades just because console gets those characters. Tournament scene is strong in certain areas and people will continue to go because they enjoy that high level of competition. It's not like they're gonna try to main yun/yang when they get released anyway. Only a few will use those new characters, so there is no point in just holding it on the arcades. People are just going to use who they are familiar with and we already know this, whether it be tournaments or online.
I do hope that in due time we can get 6 new fighters total, plus 4 stages. It would keep the screens balanced and variety would be more than enough for the entire fanbase.
If DLC Came Out Then I Want Karin and R.Mika That Game has Enough Males I Mean Plus Yun and Yang
I Think They Should Do DLC a few months after it becomes a major hit in japan,if it doesn't do well in other countries do DLC for Them Then Japan
Also Can This Interviewer Person Stop Asking For Poison Does She Have Any Fighting Skill at All Cause That is The First Person He asks to Be Added In every interview Its Sorta Bothering Me (sorry if i offend anybody in anyway)
Capcom should get Platinum Games to remake DmC and while they are at it get Bayonetta, maybe they can get this guy into MvC3 too...
Ofcourse it's coming to DLC lol, pretty annoying that Capcom tries to play us as a fool.
Just release the DLC around in the West the same time the AE hits the scene Japan.
Since arcades are dead in the west and people in Japan tend to prefer going to the arcades anyways so no loss for arcade operators in Japan..
Blazblue has the right idea tho, just release the DLC characters, even if Blazblue CS2 is coming.
@34 Gameplan - People go to the arcades for the scene and owning people in person is a lot more satisfying than owning people online.
Besides offline competition has less bs (no sudden lags,ragequits,1 round crap).
----
I really wouldn't be suprised if Capcom pulled a 'SSF4T on disc coming! Many goodies on the way,too much for DLC ^^!'.
And seriously after all that hassle and talk about Darkstalkers, and now it gets denied..
Dunno if it's just me but I'm kinda getting fed up with Capcom/Ono.
how about the option to use both either or ultras during a single match?
like using Feilong's counter ultra 2 during round 1 and Ultra 1 to end round 2
(Zangief w/ access to both Ultras is balanced.)
Datkstalkers is cool but we got to settle with mvc3. That's were the money is at for capcom.
@SomeDude
I'm not saying they'll never release the new characters to consoles, I'm just saying they're gonna wait a while before doing it, mainly to protect the arcade market. Believe me, the worst thing that can ever happen to an arcade game is to be released straight to consoles from day one, that just kills it. I'm guessing 6 months or so before a console release via DLC or a disc.
I totally agree with theMASman I am getting sick and tired of New lame characters I want Alex and Rolento in SSF4 and they are both highly requested and they are gonna give us Poison and some lame useless characters nobody cares about that that are lame, Alex NEEDS to be in Super Street Fighter 4 because he was the main character in Street Fighter 3 and I'm interested how he would have been in SF4 and Rolento is awesome we need him and Elena and Hugo would have been good ideas as well and Urien would be awesome as well and also Capacom needs to make more storage on SSF4 Arcade Edition and give Yun and Yang intro and ending movies as well we are curious how their storylines transpires as well
@ Gameplan
I agree with what you say but it's a bummer that we have to wait longer to actually play with the new characters.
Heck,if there'd be a arcade scene here with SSF4AE cabinets,i'd probably spend more time there than at home playing on my console.
You're right tho,it's probably gonna be 6 months before we'll get it on the console.
I just hope MvC3 doesn't have an impact on the SSF4 comunity,it's already hard as hell to find people on psn..
oh wow... being so far from an arcade with an SF machine, this is some pretty disappointing news. I was really looking forward to the changes and new characters, but instead we get to continue playing an out-dated copy of the game, while those lucky enough to live near a covetted SF machine get to train with all the new changes and characters! That's rubbish man. Spent cash on SF4, but that was unfinished so more on SSF4, also unfinished so now I have to travel VERY far to rinse cash on an arcade machine, or train on an out-dated copy of the game? Capcom; I'm vexed. Sort it out.
I'm going to be pissed if they're really not going to put the new characters on DLC....Fuhhh
@irrenmann
Capcom staff members regularly read this site. I don't know how much Ono does, as it's in English, but I know he's seen it and mentioned it a few times. I know for sure other people who have a direct influence on these games actively check it out, though.
Seriously Ono, STFU already. I'm sorry but i have had enough with his BS. If you are not allowed to discuss such things i can totally understand it but don't play us as fools and if there is no realistic answer to give just keep your mouth shut. "we have no plans for it", "if you ask we may consider it". F*** ** - we have been ALL asking for crap for years now, ever since SF IV vanilla came out in the arcades! What are we, puppets without a life and we are supposed to spend the rest of the year begging for things that will inevitably happen?
I really wish people would use their brains more often.
They (Capcom) aren't going to announce a release date or plans on DLC characters any time soon because they want to sell as many arcade systems as they can. The only way that will happen is if the arcade owners think they will have the new characters exclusively for a period of time.
On the topic of people being mad about Ono asking us to request the things we want to see, why would that upset you? He wants to see R. Mika in Super. If a ton of people start requesting her on his twitter, he can show that to his bosses and she will get put in on sheer popularity. Ono is not the type of person that would write us off by telling us to request more stuff if he knew it would be a worthless effort.
throughsilence> I agree if they don't put Alex, Rolento, in mainly I will also be pissed, and more pissed if it's Poison Oro or any useless character nobody cares about or sucks
VegaSota> I totally agree, Alex and Rolento next please and also agree with new stages
Spacewine> I agree as well add Urien as well, he was pretty popular in 3rd strike as well
The only addition to Super Street Fighter IV I've ever deeply wanted was Q. Many people have requested him. Heck, he was the top-scoring (next to Akuma) Street Fighter character in that "favorite Marvel vs. Capcom character" poll that was on the Unity blog a few months ago: http://polldaddy.com/poll/3090824/
But will he be added via DLC? I thought it was a sure thing when the six characters rumor broke, but then... Yun... and Yang.
It's getting harder for me to keep hoping. As much as I'd like the character selection for these games to be nothing more than a popularity contest, it's pretty clear that it's not that simple.
*Massive facepalm at the comments*
Capcom and Ono have been messing with you guys for years and it's only now you realise how lame they are actually being? Could you people get any more dense?
And honestly requesting all this DLC is pointless. Capcom are bringing out the Arcade version to compete. In Japan, Arcades are THRIVING and if they want SSF4AE to be competing with the likes of BBCS, T6, KOFXIII and Gundam v Gundam then we wont be seeing DLC any time soon. It will be a long wait
We all know this is BS if Yun & Yang aren't released on console... but we also know they're gonna come out.
There's too much money to make via DLC.
I'd rather go play SSFIV arcade than staying home playing online players.
Guys what makes the arcade is the noise, the atmosphere etc...
I'm not too bothered. I prefer to play at the arcade anyway because there's more to lose than just BP e.g(Money, dignity, man hood etc) so everyone plays there best/cheapest character or its a lonely bus ride back home.
Sure the characters and Yang Yun will for PS3 and Xbox. But I would like
say that this topic is a joke. When the characters start to take additional downloadable costumes and much more we pay
about four games super street fighter 4. When going to stop half games out and then get us the money to buy new characters, costumes and others.
For that they had raised the price of the game when they took him, period, pay 70 euros or 70 dollars and go, but would have the game with all characters, then take out the alternative costumes for download for a fee, because I think well, but what they are doing nothing does not seem fair. We want to make money on the basis of good, are always with the excuse that there is to reapply changes to the game to improve character and those changes always come with add-ons to download (that chance). I llebado playing franchise life, from the first street fighter and not trade it for any other, but to be behind Mr Ono asking please that target this character or the other, be little more than begging me seems too. It is my humble opinion. Greetings to everyone.
Reading from the amount of responses (positive and negative) in here just proves that Ono's and Capcom's marketing strategy is working... look at all of us now being annoyed, angry, happy, impatient, and what not at just the comments made by Ono-san. LOL!
Patience guys, all of this is just an elaborate plan of Capcom and on the part of Ono to build some more hype for (dare I say it) the beginning of a lot of DLC on Capcom games starting with STREET FIGHTER IV! Now Capcom knows that they can keep milking their franchise.
We have to push Capcom for DLC characters, sounds like. I don't care if it's some elaborate scheme by Capcom or not-- We need to make it happen.
This probably wont be read or considered... First i wana THANK CAPCOM and ono for all the hard work you guys put in for the fans. u do have ppl that appreciate your hard work and dedication... ssf4 is a great game! i have no complaints YUN and YANG are 2 characters i look forward to playing them on the console eventually i dont have any arcades in my area. NOT EVERYONE DOES. i just wana say that if u decide to put any new charcacters in ssf4 please only put characters that have some depth and something to offer as far as options and combos. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE HUGO, ORO, OR WIERD CHARACTERS LIKE THEM! dont mess up the franchise with characters that dont fut into this game! I am sure that CAPCOM wouldnt disappoint there TRUE fans so i have trust that u would do the right thing and i look forward to upcoming additions u have for us! THANKS for giving us a chance to voice our opinions and be heard. thats it!
I have seen plenty of people state that "90% of people will play Ryu/Ken" no matter how many or which characters they'd ever add to a SF or VS game. If that actual numerical figure is from bonafide statistical data from surveying EVERY Capcom fighting game player on the planet, I guess I'm part of the 10% minority, MAINLY because I do my best to learn and master EVERY character they put into any fighting game AND because I've seen enough of Ryu/Ken players to not even care to touch their slot when the character select screen pops up.
Hey, don't get me wrong - they're my boys and all, but back before people even knew how to effectively use aerial raves, aka air combos, I was doing some short, yet neat air combos with the lesser popular characters in my local arcades, at the time. Some people were doing fancy chain combos on the ground with Cyclops, Ryu and Ken on XMvsSF, while I was doing air combos with Zangief, Dhalsim, and Sabertooth. I sure am glad that players, the world over, have advanced in the very depth of combos and high-end-game techniques, but it was so funny, seeing the reactions on some peoples' faces whenever I'd beat their Ryus and Kens with my Dan and Norimaro (Japanese Sega Saturn version of MSHvsSF). The Street Fighter 3 series had a lot of oddballs , since they ditched most of the characters everyone had been used to, for years beforehand, but that was one game where they just didn't interest me very much, so I was forced to play Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Alex, Hugo, and Remy. I didn't care much for the direction they took with Chun Li, after falling in love with the Zero/Alpha version of how she played, but I got used to how she plays in SF and SSF4, and got to like her again. hehe
This is just MY opinion, so don't hate me for it, but I am actually more excited about the characters' new alternate costumes than I care for Yun and Yang being added to the roster. They both used to play exactly the same, and as the SF3 series got more editions to the vanilla game, they got the Ryu/Ken treatment from the old SF2 games - they actually play slightly differently now. That's a good thing, and I WILL play them, but I just really dislike how those two "repeats" got picked for 2 out of "THE" 6 supposed additional roster slots, when we could've had Nash/Charlie, Rolento, R.Mika, Haggar (or any other Final Fight character), Q, Elena, Alex, Hugo, Remy, or even ***BIRDIE*** for that matter.
2 out of supposed 6 "only" additions, and we get two characters who, granted, shouldn't be so cruelly subjected to having to share the same character slot, but should actually be a "bonus" seventh and eighth charqacters... lol
I don't feel it's selfish at all to express to Capcom and other players/fans WHICH characters you'd prefer to be added to a game. For Yun and Yang fans - no offense and more power to ya, if you really wished for these two to be added.
I just don't care much for 'em.
Since I'm not a huge fan of the SF3 series as a whole, and again, these are just MY opinions - I was a little bummed when three SF3 characters that I BARELY cared about made it into SSF4 over Zero/Alpha characters that I've been dying to see again.
I miss Nash, Birdie, and Rolento the most, and would love to see how all three would look like in the SF4 series' style of art/sprites.
No offense to SF3 fans, and I KNOW a buttload of you are hardcore SF3 fanatics to the point of being a cult, but in MY opinion, "Street Fighter Zero 2 Dash" was THE BEST Street Fighter game ever made. That's just me, though.
I like character specific stages, BGM, ENDINGS, rival battle dialogue, etc.
I learned SFZ3/SFA3 inside and out because it had the biggest SF roster ever. It had all my favorite characters, but just sucked in the character specifics area.
SSF4 ALMOST did us right by putting more character specifics in, but when I opt for the character BGM to play on the home version, I expect to hear Gouki's/Akuma's BGM when I fight him and not the dramatic friggin' RYU theme... I think it does that with Gouken too.
I would also trade parries, focus attacks, and FADCs to get my Zero/Alpha counters back ANY day.
-And I don't mean the single ones you had in SFZ3 - I mean the high AND low Zero Counters that existed in SFZ and SFZ2.
Oh, a stun or guard meter would be nice - I wouldn't be against that, since many people seem to like it too.
-The whole super art and ultra conbo thing can go too - give me back my multiple super combo arsenals from the Zero/Alpha series.
Sure, people could say, "If you want Zero/Alpha stuff back so much, why don't you just go back to SFZ/SFA games?".
-And I could shrug off the predictable insult and invite you to taste my Blanka's lazily stretching slide punch.
Capcom CAN make a SF game with EVERY SF character ever made if they wanted to, AND even add new ones.
Back in the day, you had to use 4-Meg Ram cartridges with CD-based fighting games, but with DVD discs and BluRay discs, there is NO EXCUSE they can use to justify NOT making such a SF game other than the very fact that they're using a single art style with their 3D polygon models.
They could rehash old sprites like the good ol' days and dial down OR up the way some sprites look, to better blend with the others. I don't NEED another "HDR" game, but if they wanna take the time to meticulously touch up EVERY 2D sprite they'd rehash for such a SF game, that's fine by me. 3D models take a long while to make, animate, etc., amd 2D sprites take longer if REDRAWN and not rehashed, sure...
-But don't give me another Adon when I could've had Rolento.
Don't give me another CRAPPY Rose alternate costume if I could've had the sexy one from her recently publicized concept art.
Bring something more interesting to the table like "Mel", Ken's son from his ending in one of the SF3 games (For a future SF game, timeline-wise, of course.). -Or even Q or Hugo.
(Sorry about the walls of text, btw. I actually had to edit both posts a lot, just so they'd post at all. lol)
I just have a lot to say when it comes to the stupid Y.Ono c*ckteasing and his chronic, ritualistic under-the-podium/table masturbatory shenanigans (teaser Tweets and question dodging, under the pretense of broken English and his many "cannots" as opposed to actual "cans") when it comes to character reveals.
Bah... better hit "post comment" before I rant and rave some more. Capcom just pisses me off. I'll complain but still buy their damned games.
I just hate what they do to SF fiends like me and you. XD
I'm only against PC game releases WHILE anti-pirating technology is NOT yet efficient enough to keep it a viable market for the companies who NEED to make money off of their products so that they can afford and even bother at all to make us MORE good quality games, in OUR mutual future together.
Vanilla SF4 got pirated all to hell and it pisses me off that it happened at all.
-But at such a grossly horrendous magnitude, I find myself apalled, flabbergasted, and while not yet speechless - dumbfounded.
When they get better anti-piracy tech available for PC games to be safer to MAKE, I'll be all for PC versions.
On another note, I would like to see some decent MMORPGs actually make it onto our current "next gen" consoles.
No, Final Fantasy XIV and garbage like that does NOT count.
FFXI sucked on many levels, as it DID suck the life out of my older PS2 with HDD.
A newer model XB360 would feel safer to play mmorpgs on than my Falcon chip model, but still...
I want more multiplayer activity/options than Halo 3/Reach, etc. XD
Oops, off-track again. Sorry.
I predict that someone's gonna blast me any minit- err...
POST now, that I've talked too much.
I'll trade you twice as many Care Bear hugs, Mint Mojitos, and whiskey shots for each insult anyone sends my way, btw.
Almost better than a peace pipe, right? XD
Perfect.
This way, we can have Hyper Street Fighter IV.
Think about it.
Being able to pick between the SFIV, SSFIV, and SSFIV:AE versions of characters in one game. Everyone has gameplay changes from one game to the next, some for better, some for worse (Perfect example, Gen=Worse). Having the perfect solution for the SFIV series, everyone can stop their b!tching about "I can't play SSFIV because they nerfed Sagat..." and play as their "preferred" version of a character. Furthermore, the Tournament scene will have one SFIV game to play instead of choosing between SFIV and SSFIV.
I'll give it another 4 years or so. Who thinks that is the ultimate patch for the SFIV series?
Id love to see Urien make it into Arcade Edition, and would GLADLY PAY CAPCOM MONEY TO MAKE ARCADE EDITION DLC. :P
Aegis Reflector needs to be awesome though. If they cant keep that aspect of his game play faithful to his SF3 capabilities, id rather not use him.

Capcom staff members regularly read this site. I don't know how much Ono does, as it's in English, but I know he's seen it and mentioned it a few times. I know for sure other people who have a direct influence on these games actively check it out, though."
That is something to be proud of, but with all due respect, I doubt it was exactly what he meant when he talked of requests, particularly due to the language issue you mentioned. I do encourage people who feel very serious about communicating their idea to consider recreating their comment on Twitter and/or in Capcom corporate suggestion boxes. That sort of thing.
Suggestion: they are more likely to pay attention to positive ideas rather than "DON'T PUT IN [insert character here] I HATE HIM/HER" and that sort of thing. Also, I would ditch the conspiracy theory angle that seems to be making its way into many of the comments here. No, everything isn't necessarily already decided well in advance of whenever you happen to ask about it; yes, Ono does actually have bosses and co-workers rather than ultimate individual authority over what happens; the evasive language *is* sometimes a necessity to avoid the alternative of being unable to give any interviews at all (something that would hurt this site pretty badly were it to become the new policy).
Ono is just collecting are tears and stress to power his genesis chamber.
- Why do people think Poison will be stupid? She has no moveset! You have no idea how her style will play out so shut it.
- There will be no more 3s characters out because of 3shdremix
Yun and Yang is it. No Alex. No Hugo. As an Oro/Elena supporter I know how you feel but that's the way it is. There will be better choices anyway, I guarantee it.
-Yun, and especially Yang, are not worse.
First of all, you don't know. Second, If they would have kept changing III they would have nerfed Yang. There is nothing fun about an overpowered character. Balanced characters will keep SFIV and the fighting genre alive and strving! Juggle whores will stroke your ego and kill the genre. IV is the only fighter my friends like and it's because that stuff is finally gone.
- You can't get official announcements because of how far away the release date is!
Look at TvSF, people think that's coming soon, but it's years away! SSFIVAE wll be on consoles probably this time next year, but if they said that, everybody would freak out! Console and Arcade owners alike, and the latter is who they are selling to right now! Not console owners. Also, for that matter -
- There will be a PC version. Do you want SSFIV or AE? Exactly.
I don't care either way. But how is Capcom going to make you shut up about the PC without also announcing the console version? They have to wait til people make money on the arcade and then the console. it will be in a year After Arcade is released and AFTER it is on consoles for six months, so Capcom doesn't lose any money from piracy. Don't like it? Should have bought it the first time! Plus, admit it - You're going to steal it again anyway! They
Nothing. I don't want anything from Capcom fighters anymore, I know they're far too talentless and incapable of making anything decent. There was a time when I would've asked for Street Fighter IV, that was a time when Capcom might've been able to make a half-decent fighting game, but that time doesn't exist anymore. A new fighter from them is just going to be a black stain on another beloved franchise just like SFIV was.
My expectations from Capcom are finished and defeated. There is nothing I want from them now.
whatever. Just give me my new characters on console, Ono
@166
Sf2 also didnt have crouch teching, short cuts, huge reversal windows, huge stages, auto block, back dashing and a lame system that rewards you for loseing(theres more but im tired of listing). Guard break would be an aswome addition to the game and would really promote more aggresive play.
PLus even diago, everyone fanboys favorite player wanted guard break in(he said awhile back in an interview).
I agree with PendejoJonas on this
"Ono is just collecting are tears and stress to power his genesis chamber"
Ono and Capcom of Japan just don't give a sh1t about the fans, all they care is about themselves,
For the love of God (or Vishnu, Big Bang, whomever you prefer), PLEASE bring back Championship Mode! I get so pissed at ranked. I can win five matches in a row and then lose to one laggy scrub (since I'm stupid and refuse to stop practicing links against them)... and I end up with less points than I started with. Then I just don't play SF more that day.
In championship mode, losing to someone who's a master of reversals just means back to the bottom of the championship. And when you start losing points for losing the first match... well, you run into those guys a lot less. I could play CM for hours upon hours without ever getting pissed.
TL;DR GIVE ME CHAMPIONSHIP MODE FOR THE SAKE OF MY HEART!
sorry to steal a page outta Haihaine's book but GIVE US ALEX AND ROLENTO FOR THE SAKE OF MY AND EVERYONE ELSE OUT THERE HEARTS!!!!
#175 Dude you aren't alone I second your comment really want those guys in plus Birdie and Eagle the original street fighters from SF1. Cant forget a bout Q also he was bad ass. Alex and Rolento would be a great addition to SF4. Now that TTT2 is released Ono needs to step things up a little. Or Harada might just steal his spot light and fans.
i think CAPCOM should release original bgm for gameplay from street fighter animae i was just watchin sf alpha and the music is suitable for battle in ssf4, preferably rival music such as ryu vs akuma vega vs chun li. the original music no remix version. its the only way to bring that nostalgua back that gets u hype!! so please do some research and make it original!!!! also i think they should make certain characters stronger and look older like time passed and they gained power! like sakura she should look older and more stronger instead of that same little girl i think sparring with ryu would make her mature! these are good ideas i would love if they didnt fall on deaf ears! i love sf series since sf2 @ the arcades. i love ssf4 too thats why im giving these suggestions to make it appealing to the true fans Sf has!
It is diffcult to use honda, if capcom reduce the power of ehonda. I hope they can retain this amendment. The consecutive hundred hands of ehonda is also important. I hope the hundred hands hits can be increased the damaging power. 20 per hits is so less.
or maybe old stages like the forest ryu and gouki fought at.. more old stages what about vegas stage with the gate he would climb on? thats epic!
meh!
Same questions we have already had answers too for ages :(
