Wait is that Super Street Fighter 4 or Super Street fighter II Turbo. It is title SSF4 but the picture logo is for SSF2T. If it is II turbo that would explain why it says "old chunli".
3rd best4
MOV (Chun-Li), Kuroda (Ken), Nitto (Yun)
K.O. (Yang), Ochibi (Yun), Tokido (Chun-Li)
Kokujin (Dudley), Haitani (Makoto), Nuki (Chun-Li)

This is SF4 tournament table (Chinese)
Congrats to RF for winning GGXX. Hopefully his team does well in SFIV as well.
Raou plays Chun, Higa plays Ibuki. Not sure about Mesuta though.
And a quick search yields that Mesuta plays Yun.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo X
Semi Final
Abebin (E. Honda), Sasori (Ryu), Oonishi (Dictator) win
Tsuji (Boxer), Inro (Old Chun-Li), Danjiri (Dhalsim)lose
Final
Abebin (E. Honda), Sasori (Ryu), Oonishi (Dictator) lose
MAO (Claw), Ito (Dee Jay), Futachan (Ryu)win
Oh wow, Kuroda is back?
I thought he gave up because he was too good?! lol
NICE!
Cornwad: The guy just said he wasn't sure. I'm also not sure why Ricky would be going first when Marn did most of the time otherwise. Either way, I won't be surprised if both of the US teams fail to make it out of the first round; they have very limited experience with the arcade version. A better test for them will be at the street battle tourney next week where it's on Super, and I'm fairly certain that will be streamed.
Good luck to all nonetheless; hopefully most of them show up to the Nagoya bouts.
kim1234 who beat Justin Wong is an American who is living in Japan.
@neon6
This was a vanilla arcade tournament, no Makoto or other console characters.
SBO has one of the absolute worst tournament formats in the entire scene. You can lose 1 freaking game and be eliminated if your teammates can't pull through. This is a team event, not something you can judge individual skill on.
Cornwad: Not surprised to hear inflammatory remarks on this site. Way to live up to the hype! I was referring to sf4maniac, who had posted just a few minutes before me. (Kind of hilarious you didn't know this was the original SF4, though.)
Anyway, yeah, SBO's format is pretty terrible, but it isn't like they're going to change it. It encourages people to lame it out, which hardly makes for exciting SF.
mearon: No, Vanilla only. SBO is on arcade machines, not consoles.
"Not surprised to hear inflammatory remarks on this site."
"yeah, SBO's format is pretty terrible. It encourages people to lame it out, which hardly makes for exciting SF." hmmm
In any case, the team that defeated Justin's team is made up of Kim123, Air and Misse. I know Kim123 is an American living in the US, and that Air is also foreign or half-Japanese (half-canadian). Misse is Japanese as far as I know. It's kinda funny to see the US team defeated in the first round, in Japan's biggest fighting game tournament by a team that's half North American.

Daigo OCVed SAW,Chari,Daidouraku.

kokujin OCVed Raou (Chun-Li), Mesuta (Yun), Higa (Ibuki)
Thanks alot Shotosaurus, I remember reading about that it being on arcade machines but I forgot, thanks alot. And yeah next years SBO will be much better lol too bad we have to wait so long to see SSF4 there, it would be cool to see wide variety of character choice.
SERIOUSLY LOOK!
Look at the other games in the SBO...
You rarely see another person use the same character as another...THAT IS BALANCE!!!
Play a game, pick who you want and have an even chance of winning based on SKILL not advantages the developer gave some character over another.
Take a peak SF4 and the Akuma's, Rufus' and Balrog every where! Dont get me started on SF3...KCY fest.
@52
Yeah just wondering, is it possible that the Online Edtion of 3S will receive some balance adjustments like with Super? If there's going to be more tournaments in the coming years, then I'd love to see more Sean, Alex, and Elena players out there.
Damn, Kokujin lost. I was really hoping he would take it this year.
!!!TEAM EG lost in the first round!!! LMAO
it will be... TEAM A and TEAM B on finals!
and i'll be betting my money on TEAM A! (TKD FTW!)
but still its a 50/50 chance for both teams to win!
and the funny part is that each team in the final four has a sagat user!
Momochi's team will be top too. i think the order is very important. who ever can have Akuma vs sagat in the first match or take out Akuma before sagat's turn will have the advantage.
The top players in the U.S didn't make it to the finals.
@#59
TRUE!! but "IMO" Tokido is a better Akuma/Gouki player than Momochi, Mago is a better Sagat player than RF, and we know that Nemo is a top-tier Chun-Li player and also Kindevu as a top-tier Rufus player, i don't really go and agree with character tier rankings, but player skills and experience! as im gonna say... TEAM A,B,D mostly gonna be top3 and have a 50/50 chance per winning!
top 4
3 sagat
2 Rufus
2 Akuma
1 viper
1 Fuerte
1 Ryu
remember SF4 arcade
I would have Kindevu goes first and hope Mago doesn't go first. I think they have a very good chance of winning.
Remember Kindevu (Rufus), Momochi (Akuma), RF (Sagat) team won SF4 National
wow we suck japan just smacks their dick in our faces like we're useless

3. Inro (Old Chun-Li),
3. Nuki (Chun-Li),
In super street fighter II turbo, what's the difference between old chun-li and chun-li?
_____________
AFAIK, Old Chun li has better normal priority to make up for missing moves (no up kick, no super). Here's something you probably did not know: Inro is a girl! That's right, a girl made it to 3rd spot on the Tougeki. She's Tusji's girlfriend. Quite interesting. Here's a picture of her with Tsuji and Danjiri:
Well at least John Rambo's team made it to the second round in Turbo...
Semi Final
Team A: Daigo Umehara (Ryu), TKD (El Fuerte), Bonchan (Sagat)
vs Team C: Dashimaki Tamago (C. Viper), Nen (Rufus), Denpa (Sagat)
TKD x-o Denpa, Bonchan o-x Denpa,Bonchan o-x Dashimaki Tamago
Bonchan x-o Nen Daigo o-x Nen (Very close match)
So basically whoever gets a non-japanese opponent in their first round bout, has free ticket to the next round.
Same thing happened last year. In SBO(3s/SF4), every non-japanese team is free...
In my opinion, they won because of Momochi.
Momochi is one of the very few that can stop Mago with almost ease... But great work by Kindevu too.
They deserved it.
@88
They won beacause they were the strongest team. 3 players among the best of the best of japanese players, with the 3 strongest characters in the game.
Only Nemo/Mago/Tokido could have bested them, but Nemo doesn't play much nowadays.
Umehara's team was strong but overall weaker than national champs team and godsgarden team. Bonchan is not Mago/Ojisanboy/RF and TKD plays a weak character.

3rd strike final.need niconico account
There are a few SSF2T videos from SBO here: http://www.youtube.com/user/JohnRambo...
@96 Nemo is busy because of his work and can't play as much as he'd want to. He's still present at big events and he's still GDLK, nervertheless.
TKD is impressive, but he's limited by the character he plays. He may be stronger than most people even at SBO, but it's very hard to compete when facing a Sagat or a Rufus when these characters are played almost perfectly.
BTW, if there's a video you want to watch on Nico video and you don't want to register to watch it, just use this redirector link. http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html
I've been using this for a long time, even though I have a Nico account, as sometimes I just don't want to log in, cause I'm lazy. :P
Question: What does it mean when a person nearly pulls a OCV to advance?
I'm assuming you're talking about the bit about Justin Wong's team?
"Justin Wong's team featuring his Evil Geniuses members Ricky Ortiz (Chun-Li) and Martin Phan (C. Viper) were eliminated in the first round by Misse (Akuma), Air (Ryu) and Kim1234 (Dictator). Wong, playing Rufus, nearly pulled off a reverse OCV to advance."
OCV is a one character victory. Its a MvC2 term that meant one player defeated another using only one character. In team battles like these, it means that one person beat all others on a team without his team members even having to play. A near reverse OCV in this case means the first guy on the Japanese team (Misse I'm assuming) took out Wong's teammates and then Wong *almost* took out the entire other team by himself. If Wong's team had won, if Wong had won the last match, then the team would have moved on.
Ricky and marn are good I give them that. But when you watch them play its not like top level play. They make a lot of questionable moves, but then again there is a lot of pressure when representing. I think Justin needs to find some other teammates. How did Justin even represent...isn't he competing in WCG? LOL at his driving / swimming / real life skills.
Surprising no one in Japan, the 2010 SF4 Nationals champion won SBO 2010.
With Kindevu's incredible performance with Rufus since SBO last year, looks like Japan has their own Justin Wong, except theirs is better.
TKD is probably the best Fuerte player in the world. The problem is the gap between Fuerte and top tiers like Ryu and Sagat in this game. This is the case for alot of characters like Cammy and Guile, they are just too far behind Sagat. I think TKD could do way better with SSF4 Fuerte. SF4 Fuerte has no chance against a solid Sagat
"Kris "134" Hoffman, Alex "[-_-]" Ennis and Kevin "Kensou" Turner"
Who?
If any of you watched the stream, the SF4 portion of SBO was anti-hype. Very random play and lots of dropped combos, nowhere near as tight as it was last year. It looked like a lot of these people had moved on to Super.
I'm not a 3S elitist, but the 3S final four was so so mad hype in comparison--it always is when Kuroda is mugging for the camera, but it wasn't just that--the crowd was really into it and the play was great, everybody really on point.
SBO was following its usual schedule, which means it really wasn't well-coordinated between events, and there was a lot of cutting from one game to the next--sometimes in the middle of matches. Would I have preferred to watch SF4 play instead of the last four of Sengoku Basara X? Hell yes. Not worth what they were charging for it... but that announcer cosplaying as Chun* was mad cute.
*It wasn't Ono.
Also want to give props to Nuki. He plays ST, 3S and SF4 all at a very high level, in addition to being one of the best announcers in Japan. People might be somewhat better than him at individual games--although I think a case could be made for his being the best 3S player--but nobody's as good across the board.

gotta go sleep. It is 4 AM soon. I will upload more in 6 hours.
TEAM BATTELS in SF4 are POINTLESS. If ONE player can beat the ENTIRE team then it's NOT a team battle...
It's only about good INDIVIDUAL players.
A REASONABLE way of playing team battles can be found in SF ALPHA3. If one players wins, then he starts the next battle with AS MUCH LIFE as he SAVED from the PREVIOUS fight.
Then it's really about teams... and it's really UNLIKELY that someone will win more then ONE FIGHT.
@ 102
T.V. reality shows are not filmed live. *facepalm*
"You guys are all Japan nut riders.
Does it not say Justin almost reverse OCV'ed the other team?
Fcking weeaboo haters."
The team Justin was playing was made of one Japanese guy, One American guy, and one Canadian guy (at least, that's what I'm told about Air). Kim123, the dictator who defeated Justin is an American living in Japan, but he's American for sure.
i recorded a little bit of the stream for the 3rd strike finals
