AndriaSang.com translated a Famitsu interview with Capcom's Yoshinori Ono. He confirms that the arcade version of Super Street Fighter 4 will see a December 2010 release.• There are major balance adjustments coming. Apparently, every single character has something in new in store. Ono joked that some players may complain that their work memorizing things for the home version of Super may have gone to waste.
• The arcade cabinets record replay data, which the team will consult for future adjustments.
• Some of the changes include making it so the overly powerful skills used by the older cast of World Warriors will have greater risk now. Ono believes that you won't be able to win a fight by just using a single skill.
• The plan is still to make SSF4 arcade edition the last in the series, but more tweaks are coming.
• Ono didn't give a straight answer if fans can expect the new characters and balance changes on the console machines, but he said it's a popular request and they're looking into it.
• Yoshinori laughed off a question regarding more characters being added to the arcade edition. The author notes he had a similar response when asked about Yun and Yang awhile back.
• On adding Yun and Yang to Super Street Fighter 4: "At first, we weren't sure if we'd be able to put in new characters or not, but it looks like we were able to make it in time. Yun and Yang's Street Fighter III movement is solidly replicated, so those who've played the series shouldn't have any issues when using them."
Ono acting like they wont bring it to console.
lol
Looking into it???
Come on now ... what the heck ...
Great..! Thanks ono..n i just want u to bring makoto at the level where she was in 3s nothing else..!
@ nukka
I think he's talking about fireballs.
Most WW have them (they've had talk of nerfing Sagat's high TS) Maybe, they will nerf Guile and give him some SB recovery.
I guess EX green hand is overly powerful. lol. Do these guys even watch tournaments
I can't believe he is evading the question on console update. ONO YOU KNOW THAT SF FANS WANT THIS UPDATE. HOW COULD NEXT YEARS EVO COME WITHOUT IT?
The likelihood of Capcom not releasing this stuff on the consoles is ... astronomically low.
Capcom has put a lot of time and effort into these changes, and they can offer it up as paid DLC. This means more money for them, which means — it's going to happen.
It's just a matter of when.
Bringing these characters to the consoles is a lot harder than people seem to understand. That said, I don't think Capcom would have put any budget into a SSF4 arcade if bringing the content to consoles wasn't possible.
DLC I would easily pay for. This was planned right from the beginning. I have no problem paying for more characters. I do hope they tweak Gen. What they did was careless.
I have a feeling that the new characters and the balance changes won't be in the console version. I hope I'm wrong, but it sound like it. My local arcade has SFIV but I don't know if they are gonna get super, and also I don't always have time to go to the arcade. I hope they bring the patch to the console version.
As Catalyst said, the chances of this not arriving on home version are ridiculously low. But I'd guess the balance changes will be available for free, simply because fragmenting the community is terrible (there'd be "balanced" and "unbalanced" games and tournaments around, better give the patch for free to ensure maximum adoption). Not to mention they'd be forced to keep two sets of servers around, one for the players who opted not to pay for the patch.
Hell i don't care if it's DLC or if they bring out another, version of the game ill still buy it.
IMO an arcade version is useless well at least in the USA since those are extinct(even though I live in NYC and Chinatown fair is still popular but it literally stinks) I'd rather play at home without being smothered by people it's 2010 not 1994. I'd rather pay 14.99 or 9.99 for an update for new characters and tweaks on ssfiv that 30-40 on a new version I'm sure it'll come to home consoles( the new characters) but IMO it'll be before mvc3 or after.
I'm only asking for two thing...let the acrcade version be dlc for home console...
Plz...plz....PLEASEEEEEEEE...let rolento be in the game.
That is all
I just hope that Capcom nerf RYU,Rufus & Akuma till death.. they are such BS powerful characters
Color me impressed. Yun and Yang look cool. I was just really wanting Rolento & Karin so obviously I was salty. There's still hope but if not then its whatever. The balance patch is way more important seeing how certain top tier characters just completely nulllify low-mid tier characters moves and strategies.
I hope all the DLC is a one price package too. I hated waiting for the complete set.
"it's a popular request"
Well, no feces.

@ Lolento
Excellent point about the balance changes. They will have to be offered for free. But at the same time I'm curious as to how it would work - will the balance tweaks come with the new characters as a single patch or separate patches? If it's a paid single patch I do have concerns as to how the online will work for those who haven't bought it, balance wise.
I wont be able to win a fight with a single skill, who are u fighting that u can beat by spaming one move? And then u have characters that barely have more then one move.
• Ono didn't give a straight answer if fans can expect the new characters and balance changes on the console machines, but he said it's a popular request and they're looking into it.
We know the answer to this already, they WILL get it on home consoles somehow.
• Yoshinori laughed off a question regarding more characters being added to the arcade edition. The author notes he had a similar response when asked about Yun and Yang awhile back.
We know the answer to this already, there WILL be a minimum of 6 new characters, they even confirmed this before.
I know they are doing this to keep us in suspense but why mystify the truth or questions we already know the answers to?
WHAT? I thought more characters would be revealed than the ones we already knew about. This isn't building hype, it's killing it. And the 6 new characters is still a rumour.
I wonder if it being the "last version" should be taken to imply no PC version.
@35
Just cause you have problems fighting ryu, rufus and akuma online doesnt mean they're 'bs' and over 'powered' haha
@caruga: Yun/Yang's divekicks came before Rufus was even a glint in Capcom's eye. The Lee Brothers (nephews of Lee from the original Street Fighter) have been trained by Gen, just as Chun-Li was. They all use kung-fu, but saying that they have no personality because some of their moves are the same is like saying Dan has no personality since he's basically just another shoto.
BTW: it seems there's starting to be a distinct rise in "legacies" over the years: most of the cast have either been trained in fighting by Goutetsu's school, Gen's school, or Charlie's style.
Ryu, Ken, Gen, Lee, Chun-Li, Guile, Akuma, Dan, Sakura, Charlie, Sean, Yun, Yang, Gouken, Abel, Remy...
Also interesting to note is that all of these schools were originally about killing (Akuma's bloodthirsty, Gen's an assassin, Charlie's a soldier), but later generations rejected it (Ryu/Ken, Yun/Yang, Remy).
Guys, Miss Rainbow Mika will be a wonderful addition, NOT a wasted slot! All she needs is a little oil...
So, nothing about PC, but nothing real about consoles either. Strange. For a moment there I thought Capcom was actually going to reveal all this time... obviously I haven't been paying enough attention to the way Ono does things.
i seem to remember them saying something about it being harder to implement DLC to the original SF4 and that's why they made super its own game and they made changes to super that would make future DLC less of a problem...
if they don't make the Arcade Edition content available to consoles it would just be pissing money away, imo the only issue would be how long will we have to wait. they might give the arcade a few months to see if any additional balance changes need to be made to the new characters so they
I knew there wouldn't be anything new. The big reveal was Yun and Yang and the new costumes. Hmm... ok.
For SSF4 console edition, they revealed 10 characters in groups of 3, saving Hakan for last. Now, being 6 new ones, I bet we hear about the next 2 (Alex and ??) on November and the last 2 on early December.
I hope, sh!t, I PRAY they put in any character besides R. Mika, Rolento, Elena, and Karin. EVERY f-ing comment is about them. If they are in the game, eventually in a couple months, people are going to complain about them SUCKING. Quit asking for characters and learn to live with what they give us.
"• Ono didn't give a straight answer if fans can expect the new characters and balance changes on the console machines, but he said it's a popular request and they're looking into it."
New Characters?...Yes Please
Balance Changes?...No thanks
If this is the case, then they'll probably end up having to re balance again once Yun gets whored out and exploited and wins every tourny just like 3s
YOU BETTER NOT NERF CAMMY!!!!!!!!!!! I also notice this is the 3rd version of a SF4 coming out and Balrog hasnt been touched yet.... i thought this was balancing?!
Maybe we should look for which avatars haven't been added on psn :P.
Since Yun/Yang avatars weren't added to 3S because they'll probably end up in the SSF4 section.
But seriously,I wish Ono would just come out with it.
Hopefully 1 completely new character (which I doubt will happen).
he was being sarcastic but yeah the new balance is a dick move some didn't really need it just buffs.
I'm hoping that if these changes a while back are permanent make chun's U2 a charge motion.
what's with bringing rolento, elena, alex to the game? i think there's better characters than those above
and of course they're gonna bring these changes to the console version, after all i think there was more profit on the console side than arcade itselt so yea trust me they will sooner or later like a DLC update with all the changes, even if we have to pay like 10-15 dollars it'll worth the money.
don't act like little kids damn
@67
i find it hilarious that u brought that up. Last time i checked when u compared blanka ball to hondas head butt the head but was 1) alot safer 2) did ALOT more dmg 3)it was faster 4) It knocked down 5) jab headbutt has invic frames and lastly the head butt has better hit boxs. The only thing the ball got is that the ex passes throuhg fireballs(which is really important). So why nerf the ball in to uselessness again?
Im not saying nerf it, i just think that the changes there makeing are coming from random online players rather then tournament players.
@71
who spams sumo slam and what type of player would lose to it?
@67 medium and hard headbutt is punishable on block against some characters. U1 is punishable on block against some characters also.
But anyways...I noticed a few comment about ppl trashing rolento && karin. u guys can suck a DICK.! I'm almost possitive that rolento will be in the game becuz that is the #1 most requested character && it looks like fighting games are bein made based on fan feedback (ssf4, mvc3, mk). R.mika && elena is almost a given spot also becuz ono wanted them ever since the beggining of the sf4 series. The 3 spots taken after yun & yang. Which means 5 spots r gone. Who is the last one.? Karin.!!! Duh.! Now stfu && use common sense.
Have heard a lot of complaining about yun & yang being added... makes no sense... they are great characters! and stop complaining about karin... she was one of the most interesting characters capcom had come out with in a long time. i would love to see her make it in.
Here's to hoping the changes made to the home console doesnt nerf characters already working at a disadvantage(those without projectiles). And also that Kikosho gets better chip/ damage output.
I also agree with everyone else that Capcom not bringing this onto consoles is almost impossible. Console sales is what drove this game, so its coming for sure.
I hope we can get at least one new character as part of the 6 confirmed.
The 5 point looks interesting. So, SSFIV Arcade Edition the final version? I hope so.
