This game was a lot of fun, in my opinion. The concept was really cool. If it was done better with more characters, it would have been much more popular. Unfortunately they left out most of the better characters choices from each game. Chun-li felt kind of silly as being a third strike rep, considering she premiered in SF2. The spot would have been better suited for Dudley or another iconic SF3 character.
Actually enough people bought it its just that nobody i guess played it that long. The idea was good but the whole unique to your game system just doesn't work well. The game only had 22 characters at that which was stupid as hell considering they just copy and pasted.
Are you running a website that updates all day everyday SF news? NO, oh so how bout a nice tall glass of shut the fcuk up
I_want_your_sister. Anywho this game was a fun distration no more no less. The game wasn't horrible due to character selection or anything else. Actually the cast was a fun mix as you can plainly see and nothing beats seeing Gief Ultimate Atomic Buster that fcuking dinosaur. The problem with the game was that Capcom, because of it being such a lame cut and paste job, did no character balancing at all. So some fighters are way too powerful than others and negate ever using over half of the cast. So before diving in the fountain of Hater-ade and emerging the greatest hater to ever live, check your facts boys and ghouls.
#4: I love the hell out of this game. A lot. I also love Ingrid. A lot.
#13: The game itself is pretty solid and balanced across the board. "Did no character balancing at all" is kind of a far cry as the characters are vastly different from their various and original incarnations. It's in fact, one of the better balanced Capcom fighters ever. It's just the game's presentation is, well, boring. The music and art style are hit or miss (Shinkiro did a decent job IMO and Ingrid's theme is awesome), the backgrounds are bland, sadly everything was cut&paste and they could of put more than 22 characters in.
After everyone (except Japan) dropped it, people found ways around previously abusable tactics (Jedah's spinners? NAW HE FREE SON, JUST PICK KARIN OR ROSE). It's similar how CVS2 still gets enough play here and there, but on a much smaller scale.
I still own this game and it's pretty awful. Having 4 characters from each series all locked into thier original fighting mechanics with a few changes makes some match ups near impossible to win. The cast is lame (Chun-li counts for SF3), and the graphics and controls are far inferior to SF3 which is surprissing since it came out later. After such a good job with the SVC games this is a very dissapointing title by Capcam, but as far as all fighters go it's still average. Great in concept but lacking in execution, probably due to budget or time constraints.
@Garcian_Ulmeyda
Damn homie is your period on lol. I was saying that as a joke. Keep talking, someday you'll say something intelligent!
capcom paid for just being irresponsible with this crap game
It's a shame that this game kind of sucked, because the concept was pretty decent, just poorly executed, or perhaps impossible to execute. It was a pretty good collection of Capcom characters in one game, though.
But hey, at least we have MVC3 for that now. HAUZER FOR MVC3! :D
i heard (haven't checked) that when this game was made, the street fighter team wasn't around to make this, so it was a scrambled effort from various departments of capcom.
i _think_ capcom's street fighter team disbanded/quit/walked away after CvS2 (due to various economical and inter-personal problems?), which is why we didn't get anything worth considering after CvS2 (aside form Capcom Fighting Jam/Evo). wasn't All-Stars cancelled, too, due to the street fighter team goin away?
did the street fighter team return for SF4? or did they just organize a new street fighter team (some from the old team, some new to the team?)
anyway, Capcom Fighting Jam/Evo totally reflects the difficulties the street fighter team was going through. "well, you guys, we're boned. cut and paste as much as you can, and we'll hammer out the details as we go along!"
This vid just rocked. Too bad the game had terrible presentation and was just a copy pasta job by Capcom, because it ended up being very well balanced.
@Megatonbeef: 3s came out in 1999. CFJ came out in 2004. Once again, matchup wise, for the most part pretty even. There are only a few of 7-3s in the game and they are all with Gief, Hauzer and Nool.
@jupiter: The SF team for the most part was already long gone after by 2004.
This could be a good opportunity to point to Maj's new website, http://combovid.com/. New (and old) combo videos for various games, every day.
