What's with those NEGATIVE comments? I think this costume looks VERY PROMISING. LONG HAIR is obviously awesome, but rest seems GOOD TOO (gotta wait how it actually comes out in the game).
Btw, I really like Ken's second costume (1st color is my favorite), but I NEVER use his cowboy costume. I don't think it's that bad, but it just DOESN'T seem to FIT his image(I know he had it in Gem fighter, but that a very light-hearted game).
A business SUIT would probably be much better...

These alternativ costumes are starting to get incredibly boring. They are neither rad, stylish and most often not even cool.
Capcom should snatch some costume ideas from the SNK games.

i have the illustration book of SSF IV and there is a concept design for ryu with large hair that looks awsome too, pretty sad that is not gonna be released, the new costume for ryu is not my type.
More alt costumes should be like this. Something I can believe that the character would actually wear for some reason. I hate stuff like cowboy Ken, Mecha Zangief and Vega's alts...'cause I just can't picture the character ever wearing those things.

I think the costume looks damn good, could we ask for more??? sure, Ken in his rich playboy image is long overdue, but if i can get Playboy Ken, Training Ken, and red gi ken, thats the best of all worlds. I know you all want what you want when you want it but... lets be realistic here.
Hurrah for the return of Alpha Ken's hair! I think Ken's outfit will look about a hundred times better in-game, especially in its other colors. This concept art is terrible is all. The Rufus biker outfit... eh, it's good enough, I just don't care about Rufus.
I'm sure the alt. costumes are all ready created and fully rendered, but I have just a few notes about Ken. I think Rufus' is great, may be my favorite of his, but I do think they should pull down his shirt either all of the way or a little more. I'd like to take Rufus a bit more seriously.

The ponytail definitely works. I always appreciate a new haircut with an alt. costume, and I wish there was more of that, especially with Viper. It's also nice to see a return to his earlier Alpha days. As far as the outfit goes, I think the more simple the better. Lose the designs on the shorts and tank top and make them solid colors. The shorts should be baggier, and lose the bandaid.

about El furete... i don't think he's bad at all. i've seen people stomp others with him, and personally it's not a match up i like having to face even though i usually manage to pull off the win. like vega, and a few others, the user of el furete is by far the most important element.

NOTE:
about the hair style change. Characters could have many more features changed according to colors. Just look at Sakura. When the Alt1 costumes were out, she had THREE alt outfits because her color 10 is different from the rest. That concept could probably work to make him slightly play like Charlie (one hand boom). All the frames and everything would be the same except of the look of the animation.
Guile could have a Charlie hairdo for one of the colors, cool caps facing back or forward for some other colors and many more combinations.
That could also be applied to many more characters. Why Capcom chose to bless only Sakura wit that feature is beyond me
El Fuerte's not bad lol, but he's not good enough to be considered for nerfing imo. I'm not as mad about it since it's happening worse to other people's mains and I'd be a lot more angry if I mained Seth or someone but it's disappointing to see. That's off topic though...
As for the alts, El Fuerte's looks slick! I'll gladly purchase whatever pack he's in. I wish you could buy alt's separately but it IS capcom unfortunately. You either get 1 or 2 alts that you want with a bunch you don't want or you get none at all
The hair is exactly what I've been wanting! The costume not so much, but it could turn out well in game. I would rather have an option to select Ken with long hair using all of his costumes. Alternate 1 with long hair would look awesome to me.
As for Rufus, I think that costume suits him quite well, and I would prob use it if I didn't like his alternate 2 so much.

Yeah, and that entirely works for a 'roided out French guy. I live in Taiwan, and late 20s / early 30s Eurotrash absolutely litters the shores, trying to get over their divorces by hitting on Asian high schoolers. I rofl'd because it's like Abel IRL edition.
These costumes are by and large looking way better than pack 2. Ryu's sucks, Cammy's is fugly and Chun's isn't very inspired but the rest are fine.
They should give ken a hoody just like in the sf anime instead of the tank top. the pants and the shoes can stay

I like Abel's, it looks like he is on vacation, which is a cool change for such a serious and sorrow character. I like the idea of making Ken's hair long in his alt. And El Fuerte's looks amazing.

I don't see what's wrong with these costumes besides the fact that most people here want all the characters to be in black, or be the 'evil' versions of themselves like the bunch of angst teens they are.
As an El Furete main who's been using his original costume since vanilla it's awesome to see an alt I'll end up using. I didn't have a problem with the first two but they just didn't stack up to the original. I like this Ken alt, it's better than the first alt he had and, although nobody bothered to notice, it matches Ryu's new alt well.
Hakan's original costume is amazing, so it's hard to top, but I'm a fan of the fez (didn't dig his first alt as much as I would have liked). I'm not a rufus player but I've always thought they've been lucky seeing as they get the most eccentric costumes out of almost the whole cast.
Dig the Abel alt, his first two were pretty weak by any standards and I don't see why everyone here seemed to like his army one so much, that soul patch is wack lol.
After taking a 2nd look at El Fuerte his tattoos are similar to Rey's chest tattoos.

So, they use a stupid urban style look for ibuki and scrape the really cool kunoichi look, capcom doesnt know how to pick good alts for a lot of the characters, anybody else look at the other alt designs, espevially the ryu ones i saw and one with ken in a cool playboy style suit, plus strider guy, kunoichi ibuki, cop chun li, and the evil rose ones wer way better than the final designs they picked for most characters

I say go with the corset on top and do like some tight pants at the bottom. Go darker for like a dominatrix type of feel.

Rose's new alternate costume is a variation of her Street Fighter Alpha getup she had worn during one of her victory poses, only seen when you would achieve a perfect with her.
Now, although I would've preferred her sultry black and violet outfit, like most everyone else, you can really start to appreciate these nods to '90s nostalgia (Ken's, Cammy's, Ibuki's, with Chun-Li's latest alt. being the most blatant example), and fathom that the team developing these upcoming batch of costumes really did consider at length which concepts to become fully realized (for a number of the pre-SFIV characters, that is).
When all is said and done, I'm rather pleased with how most of these fresh creations came out; it's easily the best of the trilogy of downloadable costume packs, by far, in my opinion.
Rose has the worst alts out of all the characters.

It's sad when people are literally going into a frenzied crygasm over finally getting their Chun-Li throw-back costume (when the other alts they had for her were all so much better), but when it's a throwback for another character (the dress is supposed to be Rose's special win pose dress) people are all up in arms lol.
Also Viper doesn't have a right hand because the artist wanted you to see her shirt.

I like all of these except for Viper's - I can accept it if those are 'special' high heels - but how's she supposed to do her moves without the gloves? that doesn't make sense. Did she get in a plane crash during an electrical storm? Or maybe she trained with eels in Brazil? :P
Why doesn't capcom give rose her alt. win pose outfit from alpha? It's similar to this one, she just needs the joker card stuck in her cleavage.
Many of these alts are really well done. I dont understand what all the bitching and crying is about. Sure soem of the other concepts were really nice, but Capcom cannot satisfy everyone.
You have to remember that the alts are designed by Capcom to mostly preserve the character image. Sure Ibuki is a ninja, but she also has a 'normal girl' side to her. Her original costume was ninja-oriented, so this costume makes sense and looks really good.
Understandable that these are peoples opinions, but the way it is expressed just makes them sound so childish. We migh get some of the other costumes later, who knows!

Here are some choices I would like to see
1. Sagat - no scar and no eye patch
2. Dudley - no shirt, black pants with green sash, and no boxing gloves.
3. T. Hawk - Mohawk and tomahawks straped to his waist.
4. Balrog - Mike's afro hair, red t-shirt, blue jeans, and wrapped up hands.
5. Cody - Joe's haircut, red pants, instep shoes and bare knuckles.
and 6. Yun and Yang - T-shirts saying "The Lee Brothers" and shorts.

Do you really think Makoto wears anything for fashion's sake? She wears a gi when she trains and fights, old work clothes when she works, and a uniform when she goes to school. The only other outfit I'd find believable to see her wearing is pajamas, and even then I wouldn't be surprised if she sleeps in her gi.
I wish I knew what Capcom is going for with Ibuki's new alt, because I don't get it. She has a pet tanuki and loves him enough to yell his name when she's hurt like a little kid going "Mommy!", but now she apparently has a dead tanuki's tail attached to her jeans? WTF? Maybe I'm taking it too literally, I dunno.
I hated Rose's new alt when I first saw it, but then I remembered that there are always 9 other colors, and I think it's great now. Just get rid of that disgusting shade of pink and we have a real winner.
Makoto's is cool enough. Kind of sexy in a simple, unsophisticated way (that skirt is a little too short not to attract attention). I think I prefer the gi though, the way she moves is so serious and karate-fied in every particular that a normal street outfit would seem kind of weird to me. Maybe I'll think differently once I see it in-game.

-Ryu looks pretty cool. Bandana makes me think Soul Calibur 4 Yun-seong.

Vega's, well, Vega's is disappointing. I thought they'd gone close enough to fruit salsa without drowning the character in it. Conquistador, ninja... hell, even board shorts and a wife-beater with a paper bag for a mask! Many, many things would be much, much better. Alas, he's still my main.
I really like all of these costumes. Dudley's the best out of the bunch so far.
most of the suits are awesome. Cammy suit is the worst. All of Balrog suits are way better than his original-I'd say his alternate suits are the best.. All of Akuma alternate suits are better than his original- I'd say get rid of his original suit and keep one of the alternate version... Ryu needs a casual look. El Fuerte suit is awesome, but somewhat feels like the virtua fighter character. Ken finally has a casual suit-awesome. All of Cody's alternates are awesome and Gouken's suits are second best. Those are my favorites
All im going to say is that if you want a japanese ninja so bad then go pick Ibuki, but he's a spaniard and also is very self absorbed. I highly doubt Vega would put on a ninja outfit at the cost of looking extremely bland, Generic, and lame like everyone wants him to be apparently.

Because she is a classy and elegant woman who is italian. So obviously she is gonna wear italian themed dresses and outfits.
This particular outfit is inspired by two things, Rose win pose when you get a perfect in Street Fighter Alpha series. That outfit is also and inspiration of a character from Jojo Bizarre adventure.
And the idea of fitted jeans with high heels and a short italian short shirt (What do you mean italian short shirt) is horrible, thats a tastless and whore-ish style that fits someone like Juri, not Rose.

Catalyst you should probably clarify that Sagat's alt is from before he even fought Go Hibiki(Dan's father) hence the hair, lack of scar and eyepatch.
I've read lots of comments stating his new alt sucks but they seem to ignore this fact, there's a picture of the official artwork this costume is based on somewhere in the comments so it might be a good idea to provide a link to it too in the article.

People are morons. People are hating on alts for the dumbest reasons. Cuz it doesn't look cool? Blankas alt represents the south american culture. It's reminiscent of the ancient outfits that south american tribes wore during rituals. Adon's alt seems to be a traditional outfit for an upper class Thai gentleman. Cammy's alt is from the udon comics. There is history behind these alts and why Capcom chose them. Do some research people. Don't be ignorant.
This is the same stuff I hated when people ragged on Gouki and Goukens first alts not knowing that it was a representation of Fujin and Raijin from Shinto japanese mythology/religion. Brothers who were also gods. And when the gods of that religion came to Earth they wore special ropes to restrict their powers so the Earth and the people would not be harmed. It's supposed to show that Gouki and Gouken have powers beyond mere humans.
If you think of the context and the history behind the costumes you will appreciate them much much more.

Balrog's suit is awesome! Balrog just gets crazy nice outfits...always the best. Sakura, Chun-Li, Fuerte, Akuma, imo all have pretty damn nice outfits. I like how dark and mysterious Akuma's is....and it's a nice change from his other outfits. :)

Quantity is not quality, you're right, but if I'm paying for something I'd rather it be something creative, even if it's borderline wacky. I'd take Mecha Gief over Haggar Gief any day for example.
Also I don't know anything about costume design? I didn't know I needed a degree in fashion to have aesthetic taste lol. Like I said, I think that a lot of people get too hyped up over costumes that are relatively boring. Give me something eccentric, I can handle it you know?
As for trying to nit pick 'best', 'one of the best', it's sad you have to grasp at straws in order to come up with points.
Lol, you keep thinking things are absolutes. Of course quantity doesn't equal creativity, but in this case it does. I mean just look at the artwork, they made sure to include every detail of the snake charming culture in that costume. that's impressive.
Most of the people here just play the game and know nothing about the intricacy and creativity that goes behind character concepts. As far as what they actually implement into the game, clearly the designers could not care less about what a small portion of you want. Costumes are supposed to be a fun aspect for the game and allows the CA's to have fun creating them for us.
But with saying that, it's not gonna happen, but it would have been cool if they did a custom costume creation system like in Tekken and in VF.

seriously, he is referred to as "major" in his SF4 opening storyline, yet he has 4 stars on his shoulder which would make him a general.
he also has his ribbons on, and in one of the pictures he is being presented a medal, removing ANY doubt that this is supposed to be his service dress uniform and not some random suit.
on top of that, WHY THE HELL IS IT GREEN? guile isnt in the ****ing army, he's in the air force. i sure as hell know my service dress isnt green.

Once again, some of these costumes are cool (Egyptian Gouken and Akuma) and some are just plain recycled (E. Honda with a huge knot on his back. I still have no idea what Ryu is supposed to be. Oh yeah for those of you arguing back and forth about quantity and creativity, its DLC, they can make as much as they want. I for one am glad, this shows they still care about SSF4, although I would've preferred additional stages. I still have an awful feeling SSF4 is going to be completely forgotten by Capcom and left out in the cold when MVC3 comes out.
Ryu: Meh. It's nice to see him wearing something other than his gi, but I don't really believe he'd wear THIS.
Ken: Quite nice. People complaining that it's not a suit don't really understand Ken (sports gear is far more like him than a suit) and even if not, it's better than a cowboy outfit.
Chun: Nice to finally see the Alpha costume.
Guile: A nice idea, and it looks good, but they've confused air force with army.
Akuma: Meh. No personality.
Blanka: I dunno; he's not tribal, he's a beast. Beasts don't have ritual gear. Then again, beasts don't have ANYTHING. Maybe a loincloth would've been more appropriate?
Dhalsim: So, what, he's every Indian cliché they can think of?
Zangief: Kinda gay, but then again from what I understand, he actually IS gay, so yeah.
Honda: His facepaint has been begging for this for years.
Bison (Dictator): I don't really believe he'd be that concerned about fashion, but it certainly is regal.
Vega: Kinda samey for his previous ones.
Balrog: Great. I believe it.
Sagat: I like the idea but I hope they do a better job with the finished product. It looks kinda off.
Makoto: Perfect.
Ibuki: Also perfect.
Sakura: I would've gone with some kinda tracksuit like her ending, but whatever.

Rose: No. Although I know she's from Italy and they go for haute fashion, it's too far.

Uh, Blanka's not wearing tribal gear, he's wearing the traditional dress of the carnival dancers from Brazil. Also what's with all of this 'believability' talk? Zangief wouldn't be a robot but he was a robot lol, Ryu would wear that third alt because it's a workman's uniform, Ryu is the kind of guy who would be in construction.
All im getting is ken's alt. i main guile and LOVE his previous ones, but this one leaves me dissapointed. whats up with not giving Guile any cargo shorts? is he destined to live out his days forever in pants? wtf?! ken's got some nice shorts, absolutely AWESOME alt as a matter of fact. but im definitely not favoring Guiles uniform.
and how about a military cap? or a hair style change to charlies? it COULD have been done and integrated into different colors. They did it to Sakuras alt1 after all.

Mech-Zangief is a reference to his MvC (IIRC) appearance, so that gets a pass. As for Blanka - hmm, well I guess that makes sense. Ryu's alt is still a little too "gangsta" to really work for Ryu. If they were trying to give him a "construction worker" look, they should've given him a hard hat like they did for Hugo.
That's the American stereotype of a construction worker though, in Japan it's a bandanna and a wife beater. He's a construction worker/wharf fisherman, that's why his talisman and his shirt have water designs. It's not gangsta at all lol.

Btw, the whole deal with "Vaiper", is that it is how the name sounds, phonetically, which is how the Japanese language is structured - especially with what are called "foreign loan words".
When the Japanese use text that English speakers use, they sometimes make tiny errors like that in the same way that non-Japanese speakers attempt to use Katakana/Hiragana kanji from "charts" they find online, thinking they are correctly spelling certain Japanese words.
Phonetically, one would spell "Viper" as "Vaipah", but the Japanese person typing/writing the name, in this particular instance, TRIED to use "er" for written purposes, knowing that it would look wierd to English speakers as "ah", when read.

On this page, it says that 34 alternates have been released which is correct. On the home screen, though, it says only 32 outfits have been released.

i can overlook the classic outfit because... well, its classic (despite the hair, tanktop, boots, and belt being wrong). his other alts arent even military uniforms so i wont comment on those, but in the age of google this outfit is unacceptable.

guile's alt should look like the one on the left, for officers. thats the first image that comes up searching google for "air force service dress" btw.
on top of this, there are at least 3 US air force bases in japan off the top of my head. kadena, misawa, and yokota. its not like the japanese have no idea what our uniforms look like. thats as ridiculous as saying they dont know what the F-15 or F-16 look like, when we fly them over their country 5 days a week (the reason why the F-16 is in guile's classic SF2 background, BTW, before it was changed in HDR).

Looking for Abel's new outfit, I think some chars will receive new "entering animation" in the fights (or at least he wil). Abel always touches his legs protectors (I don't know how those are called...) and in his new outfit, he does not have them.

#741 Yes it is, I wondered why they never gave Guy his Streetwise costume as a alternate. Oh well his new one is pretty decent, I wanted him with a mask though. But I really like how it's more reflective of his culture. I mean the Dunks are awesome, but not exactly what I would think of for a ninja to wear.

They should have thought of the Gou Hibiki costume for Dan in the previous costume pack. I wish they would make him a good original costume for once. An 80s Miami Vice costume would go perfect with Dan. Just picture him in a white suit with the coat sleeves rolled up half-way, a pink undershirt, some kind of golden chain or something with big sunglasses. That would be cool for him. I just don't like it when they gimp him on the costume packs. 3 of them have parts from his original costume, including this one. The most original was the tribal outfit. No love for Dan :(.
