I don't know... I like more TRADITIONAL characters, based on actual FIGHTING STYLES (just exaggerated, so they look cool).
I usually HATE weirdos and believe they DON'T BELONG in Street Fighter. True, I fully accept Blanka, but he was there since SF2. Plus, his fighting style is based on same actual martial arts (CAPOEIRA?).
Sizable amount of weirdos (like Oro, Twelve, Necro etc.) might have contributed to SF3's LACK of SUCCESS. Don't get me wrong, those were cool and fun-to-play characters - but FOR MANY they just DIDN'T FIT Street Fighter.
Is Ingrid, another little girl, who looks even more childish than Makoto/Sakura/Ibuki (which I ALL fully accept) a good choice for SSF4? Her style DOESN'T EVEN seem based on any fighting style (unlike the other 3). She seems more like a Marvel character...
True, I don't know her well and I haven't ever played her (so CORRECT ME if i'm WRONG), but for now she DOESN'T seem to FIT in SSF4.

Just...no. The so called "weirdos" all fit with Street Fighter just as much as Blanka or Hakan. Besides Twelve, they're all just fine for SF. Twelve stretches it a bit. He could almost fit in DS. Weird, non-traditional characters attract non-fighting game people to fighting games. Like Blanka did in SF2. Like when Hakan was announced people were like...OH SHIIII what the heck is he? He's a total crazy weirdo. I love him, just as much as Necro.
SF3 "failed" because it is came out when arcades were dying in the US, had god awful marketing AND didn't have many familiar characters.

Ingrid is so generic. Young female characters artistically are so hard to pull off as it is, but it's especially difficult in most fighting games because the "stoic little girl" is already an archetype in Japanese literature. Therefore those characters are almost generic by default.
I don't want to see Ingrid. There are so many better characters. At least Mika was nice to look at.
Why the hell is his super GJ? His other two SAs from SFIII work so similarly(just kind of like two multi-hit combo-able moves, imagine if Rufus's U2 was switched with his super)...aren't the two ultras supposed to be different ways to play the character? Lame.

Cuting the distance the ball goes on block could be a buff. If he lands faster it will make it alot safer, but in all honesty blanka needed improved normals and a faster ball, not a safer ball.

Yes, please. I mained Guile in Vanilla, and now the bandwagon...I just had to get off. But Guile is fine. No nerfing of the top and mid tiers. Just the bottom tiers.

- All Yun's specials are in there. Including Palm and Command Grab.
- Divekick is great, exactly like Rufus'
- His overhead (Toward and MK, can crossup a downed opponent).
- Ultra 1 looks like a few punches, then a Balrog Ultra 2 foot/ground stomp then a Makoto Ultra 1 punch into the air
- Ultra 2 was a few hits, then a Gen leg hurricane into the air, footstomps on their back back to the ground.
- Shoulder seemed to have worse range than you'd hope.
- Dragon Kicks seemed to trade quite a bit.
- Yang's command dash was in and crossed up like Ibukis.
- EX Slashs looked like a great move, crazy fast.
- Super was Seiei Enbu
- Ultra 1 was a fancy ass version of Gens Punch Ultra 1, (it looked f'in cool though).

Nice buffs for Hakan, but I'm also expecting buffs to Makoto. I also don't think Yun needed to be nerfed. He was never that good without Genei-jin, and he has fireballs and easy anti-airs to worry about in this game.
Also, MORE nerfs for Zangief? He's already not that great without his high-priority lariat. Taking away his EX greenhand knockdown was just too much.

OT: I want to see what they did to Makoto, and hopefully Yun is EXTREMELY solid. If the shoulder punch has the same properties as Guy's, I would be satisfied. Hopefully Yun's crouching med punch.
They removed Seth's jumping hard punch?! I hope that's not true/partially true, because otherwise Seth is completely boned. He's a somewhat iffy character already, taking away one of the major cornerstones of his strategy could well be the end for him. I would find that really sad, as I've always admired people who have the balls to play a character with 75% health (especially if money's on the line).
No real opinion on the EX Banishing Flat nerf. I didn't think the move was too strong, Zangief either for that matter, but I haven't been watching enough tournaments lately to really know, and it seems like the kind of change Zangief will survive.
I like that Orochi Breaker is a 2x half circle back now though, if SSFIV ever comes to PC I'll actually be able to do it on my keyboard. It's still an awkward enough motion that I don't know how well it'll work in real matches, but hey, you can't have everything. I'll settle for no 720.

Do people honestly care that much if a character turns into a bandwagon character? So what if a ton of people are playing Hakan; why should that stop you from playing with him? Or bother you at all for that matter. You should be focused on who you want to play. It's just idiotic to let the actions of others control who you want to play.
My point is that the people on here are always saying "I can't play so-and-so because everyone plays him now." What is the point of that? So a bunch of no-name people on PSN or Live are playing Hakan or Guile or whomever, why does that matter to you?
Glad to hear Hakan got really buffed, because now I think some people might actually consider using him. Also Juri's fireball has been buffed in someway? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll improve her gameplay a lot.
@Seoul That's why I used Ultra 2 cody out the gate, because everyone's too combo centered,there are rarely any I see online plus it's funny when I get someone with ultra 2. No one uses him like I do, they all go for the same boring combos I go for little to no bread and butter.
If I do get a full bread an butter it's because someone's slipping, I'm an unorthdox player and that's the thing with no one else playing like I do I don't feel the need to be forced to level up and spend hours among hours in training mode and no having people adapt to me, that's why other people get pissed off when they see people picking up their character alot because unlike people adapting to them(aka like gamerbee) you always have to worry about them being adapted to some one else.
So it looks like I'll be playing Yang (my 3S main).
Yun seems like he got pretty nerfed but that was inevitable.
I'll probably end up just using yang as a sub for SSF4 and keep my Ibuki main.

Yang:
U1 Raishin Mahhaken, U2 Tenshin Senkyuu, Super Seiei Enbu
U1 Yang throws out a single attack - if it connects cleanly, animation follows. If not, the ultra ends there - similar to Makoto's U1. Animation is sort of like Gen/Guy's, but with Yang style. Close range.
U2 Yang rolls forward and goes up in the air with his rising kick. If Yang connects cleanly on the ground with the roll portion, animation kicks in. If not, Yun goes up in the air with kicks - looks like Yun's Nishou Kyaku. U2 will pass under fireballs. Seems to have some tracking properties - if U2 started while opponent is in the air, Yang will rise up with kicks where the opponent is for non-animation damage. Combos off FADC/MK Launcher for non-animation damage.
SE - Works similar to 3S. Doesn't seem nearly as useful as Yun's GJ of course.
Ryu, Akuma:
If tatsu done in air at or before jump arc peak, becomes floaty and goes nowhere. Can no longer escape corner with air tatsu. Crossup tatsu still works.
Ken:
EX Tatsu can be blocked low. More recovery on jab SRK. Can follow up jab SRK AA with EX Hadouken, just like Ryu.
Chun:
No apparent changes noticed, except sweep doesn't seem to deal as much stun.
Guile:
Damage down, Sonic Boom does not build super meter.
Honda:
Damage down, U2 now HCBx2 motion. May be harder to combo into Hundred Hands.
Bison:
U2 now charge motion, way more recovery
Zangief:
Range on U2 increased, recovery also increased. EX Green Hand doesn't knock down.
Seth:
Dhalsim J.FP gone.
Cammy:
Normals easier to combo, but tiger-knee Canon Strike no longer possible. Can still Canon Strike normally, EX can still be tiger-kneed.
Makoto:
EX Hayate armor break, slightly faster walk speed, axe kicks more like 3S.
Part 2:
Dudley:
EX Ducking added - no armor. Moves the same distance as RH Ducking but recovers almost instantly. Crouch roundhouse different - faster? Not sure how but it is definitely different. J.RH knocks down air to air.
Blanka:
Blocked Blanka Ball now recoils at half the distance, much easier to punish.
I understand that having that element of surprise is awesome, but the thing about bandwagoners is that they are all the scrubby online players that don't really matter. They won't know any of the "real" strategies of the character and you can still have a fairly good surprise tactic. A true player, against whom you can actually have a decent match, won't play that popular character.

And I understand that facing a bunch of terrible Adons online is annoying, but my point isn't that the influx of players is annoying. I'm excited about Yun & Yang, but Capcom is getting lazy by re-introducing SFIII characters! What's next, Gill! Charlie, Eagle, Rainbow Mika? How about some new characters! Poison, Haggar, Lucia and Dean from Final Fight 3, Mack the Knife or Ginzu the Ninja, or some forgotten characters from Rival Schools! It's bad enough that Capcom will charge between $10-20 for new DLC, but to keep giving us re-used characters and not new content is retarded!

I imagine that whiffed booms give no meter but blocked and unblocked booms still give meter. Wouldn't make a lot of sense otherwise.

No instant cannonstrike? Unless they give her a safer spiral arrow or some other move buffs, this would really screw her over. It's a MAJOR part of her game.
I think I see where they're going with things though. They're trying to decrease the zoning/turtling/run-away aspects of the game. They probably have orders on high to "make the game more aggressive". I just hope they tweak things intelligently.

Hardcore fans will rejoyce for Yun and Yang, but Third Strike was a update for the Dreamcast( a system that was dying in the US) that was ahead of its time. It wasn't til 5-10 years later that Third Strike got the respect and dedication by players it deserves. Business is all about risk. If you don't take chances, how can you dominate the market?
One new character for this latest DLC isn't to much to ask Capcom for! And that's BS that Guile's Sonic Boom doesn't add meter anymore!
I personally do not think Gamerbee ruined Adon.. He just made him seem like a better character to use. If anyone ruined him... its the people who started using him after EVO... I understand that not ever Adon user is this way.. but a lot of the new blood that use him now well yeah...
No more normal Tiger knee cannon strike for Cammy :(

As a fellow Guy player, i say tht guy needs some buffs, like fireball dodge and invincibility on ex hozanto would be nice, and so would his ultra 2, being made into a reach grab not just a stationary grab, plus dont get rid of run into medium kick or nerf it, that med kick run is just as good as it is cuz it annoys ppl
If Ingrid's in, I'll definitely buy the DLC. Four more characters two go, correct? How about three girls and one more guy (to make it even ya know)

Who ever said blanka flying shorter on block is bad is silly, that means that it will be safer on block like it was in sfa3 and cvs2. That means no more sitting on the cannon ball when certain characters get on super or ultra. Blanka is gonna be tougher.
Anstsukenchamp like your ideas but as bad as it is now i be straight with a couple of hit box fixes and TC that makes contact better on shotos and the rest of the female cast.

Yeah I know we're talking about XBL and PSN and also have examples of Capcom offering free game changing DLC such as Championship mode for both SF4 and SSF4. Last time I checked this WEBSITE(mind you this isn't the fourm simpleton) is for Street Fighter and Capcom fighting games in general, so who's the boy now?
Everyone complaining about the changes need to remember what happend during the SSFIV development. They changed things so many times and people made so many assumptions which played out completely differently then they thought when they actually played it. So just wait till the patch actually comes out for 360/ps3 (hoping that it actually does)

Ex_Ein, you are giving a good argument, but the content will most likely be DLC. Microsoft charges 1 to up to 25k for companies to patch their game. Companies don' just patch the crap out of their game. They have to pay it off somehow. I believe they said costumes are what helps keep content free, but I'm not so sure for this patch tbh. I would like for content to be free, but for Capcom to do this, they may have to charge.

Capcom and snk have always been competition in the arcades and when snk came out with Ryo Capcom came out with Dan who mimicks Ryo's moves straight down to the Haoh Gadoken, so ingrid is very familiar to Athena if you were to only think of this point
I dont agree with most of the changes. The only changes that mad sense was the hurricane kick escape nerf and the buffs to makato and hakan, everything else is just retarded. Blanka ball even more punishable, because most of the cast cant punish it already? No more knock downs on ex green hand for gief? No more instant cannon strikes?

the thing is there's no proof that it's officially capcom's plans, there's most proof leaning toward the free aspect since there's more examples of it, and not just it being patched it.
DLC can be free and there's a lot of DLC that is free on both XBLand PSN
Outside of Hakan changes, I don't expect most if not all the changes to the other characters to stick. Seth without J.Hp (Yoga snipe) defeats the point of playing with him. He's suppose to be very good at zoning, and not having that move really weakens him from a defensive stand point.
It is cool that the brothers are in. I hope it's true that there is going to be more in the next few weeks.

Blanka Ball usually isn't punishable unless it was out of a corner, or if you didn't spend an EX bar. EX Green Hand not causing knockdown will either 1: set up a grab, or 2: set up a bait/punish. It lets Geif get in and apply some serious damage.
Half of you cant even distinguish the advantages of these changes, yet you complain. I doubt you came here today with any productive thoughts whatsoever.

A little trivia... Dan was exactly made by Capcom to copy KOF characters. Since KOF is obviously a try at ripping Street Fighter. Specially Ryo and Robert, both characters that Dan is joking.
On the new one they even decided to finally rip-off the EX System.
My dream has been realized, A Oil Dive Cancel, Oil up stacks. This is going to bring a lot of more mix ups to hakan's game. Hoping they extent his command grab reach when he is not oiled just a bit since being rushed down and not being oiled puts hakan at a extreme disadvantage; Also hoping for a small tone down on the time of round house oil up.
Notes on Yun and Yang are good and show promise. Hope they add at least two more characters.

What really hurts my brain is that people like you are still using the same excuse we heard since vanilla SF4. "Wait until it's realeased before you complain!" and then they release crap like Fei Long and Cammy's U2.
Censorship is much more detrimental to the game than beta-test whining.
Tiger knee cannon strikes and sonic booms were basically free meter while sacrificing nothing without the aid of a knockdown. That explains the mentality pretty well. Do I think it works out? Maybe I would have to wait and see like a sane person instead of an impulsive baby. But Psycho Punisher is laughable the thing was already punishable by almost every BnB but now it is more predictable and they have more time to punish. Also unless green hand gives frame advantage even on block I don't even know. The Seth change is interesting but lets not jump to insanity can we? He still has a SRK (not the same damage but amazing priority not to mention having meter can lead to great combos that leave you in even better positions), a SPD (not the same damage put very similar startup which is amazing) and a great projectile but when he lands either of those he gets way more options that most. By no means is Seth an easy to use character, but he is a very effective character with the right person backing him. He isn't jumpinh H.P and nothing more.
@Ex Ein Why should Fei drop the jacket just because Ken is Ceo theres no point doing half job of Feis costume, feis costumes is not costume suited for a business person. Thats like saying take off ryu headband, theres no point giving him the costume if hes not gonna wear it like Bruce Lee, thats whole point of his costumes.
I'm pretty sure that Gief can do more with a frame-advantaged standing-situation than a tech-able knockdown.
Guile losing meter gain on SB activation is a joke. By all means, lower it - but don't take it away. Guile won't be winning projectile wars until they change this - since the other guy will gain super in no time. It will force Guile to close in - when he doesn't exactly have the best offensive tools around.
I'm glad that Blanka's ball is nerfed - hard to get reversal timings on that attack online. Now we'll see the bad Blanka players have their winning streaks dry up - whilst the good players that don't rely on the move still prosper.

Isn't that the same thing? No matter which characters that has a lot of people playing, there will be a majority that will abuse a certain move over and over again. That is the nature of fighting games. Both situations go hand-in-hand.

kunai's are very easy to punish with a projectile + they only do 50 damage
the only character that "running away and using kunai's" is effective against is gief and t-hawk
pretty much every other character has a projectile or a dash to deal with it

You can avoid crossups with auto-correct AA's though... and you can dash away from delayed jumps. I think he's in a better situation if he has frame advantage and they're both standing (especially if the opponent is cornered).
I forgot to say - they could always tech the wakeup or stay down, messing with the Gief's timings...
I wonder if Yun's super builds up quick. If not then it might not be too broken. As for Chun Li, that ho better get reduced stun and either less damage on normals or nerf that BS st. MP. I hope Guy gets his frame advantage on overhead, slight speed increase and a EX Tatsu that can prevent crossups. I hate it only goes in one direction.

I hope they do this to justify a health boost. If he gets a health boost, I'll take the nerf. As a Seth player, I play rushdown all day. I don't have to camp to win, but have to because of his health. Make his command dive kick slightly better, and we have a potential top tier character.
Capcom, please buff Juri. She is too unsafe. Adon can spam that god forsaken special all day long, yet Juri is unsafe on every one of her specials besides the fuhajin. Make her EX spin wheel unthrowable and have a few frames of invincibility. I trade off with Balrog all day long, and usually end up losing the trade. Also make it so you can use EX dive kick for one kick rather than force to go through all 3.
Not sure whats going to happen. Hmmm I do hope at least some of these characters are in the game or at least thought about for possible DLC canidates;

The only characters that needed nerfs were Guile, Honda and Blanka. While Hakan definitely needed some buffs, infact exactly the ones mentioned here.
What I really dont understand is removing cammy's normal TKCS... surprisingly I'm not mad about it either. Juri buffs sound cool too.
also I dont think sonic boom not building meter is going to stick, but also guy's honzanto doesn't build meeter until you already have meter established, maybe thats what will happen
Thank GOD with some of these updates.
The fu cking charge fighters in this game were too difficult to fight in many cases. But they are smart nerfs. Guile building meter makes him win(not TIE) fire ball wars with the rest of the characters.
Honda needed a damage reduction, he moved too quick to be taking off that type of damage.
Bison's quarter circle forward wasn't THAT bad since the move didn't take off much to begin with.
Chun-Li needs a bit of nerfing too. Her normals have fair too much priority.

Some of the changes I'd like though
Sagat Tiger Uppercut damage increase. Relax, not SF4 strong. But I find it so pathetic that his standing fierce and round house deal more damage than a tiger uppercut. DAN'S Shoryuken takes off more damage than Sagat's uppercut... I say increase the damage from 100 to 130/140.
Make the recovery on guile's Ultra 2 longer, it's free chip most of the time.
MAKE RUFUS' GALACTIC TORNADO PUNISHABLE. I mean seriously, it's bad enough the dive kick is safe, follow up with quick shorts and you just have to take it lol.
Allow you to punish Seth's Ultra 2 with a counter Ultra. Very depressing seeing that Ultra activated when you're down in a corner and you know you'll be chipped out.
Let some of Gouken's shorts and jabs connect into supers, everyone elses do.
Ken definately needs the Dp nerf, too quick, but they should give him something too, like his crazy kicks.
Zangief Ex GH nerf totally changes his mobility. How else is he suppose to gain ground on those noobs running from a fight?
Thank Ono for the Ryu and Akuma nerf. Too many shoto noobs spam fireballs then Air Hurricane kick to the other side when you get close.
Too bad about Cammy's TKCS, but that combo buff sounds like shes been improved.
Makoto and Hakkan definately needed both buffs. Wish they would change Hakkan's super properties though.

Oh shut the hell up. The man could walk through a sonic boom and continue to pressure you. Not only does he have a high priority cr.HP he has an air grab that can be set up soooo well. I love Guile, he's one of my favourites, but sometimes it's not even fun to play as him because it's too easy to beat people with him.
The meter nerf will make him work harder to actually beat players, that's why I suggest more meter nerfs on fire ball characters, how about make it build meter on CONTACT(block excluded)
Hopefully they'll buff Gen and hopefully there will be details about it. It's frustrating that the only thing about him that's legendary, is his suckage, lol.

Capcom is likely doing these changes to see how people will deal with them, and depending on how people at the test do will work out the later builds.
It's like, lets remove knockdown from EX green hand and lets see what people do. If people still do well, or find other ways to compensate then maybe the knockdown will stay removed. OTOH, if they see it really does kill Gief's game then he'll get the knockdown back. Same with the TK'd cannon strike, or seth's no-longer-dhalsim hands.
So all of you Gief/Cammy/Seth lovers better go on over to Japan and play real lousy with your characters!

About Ken's changes:
Slight increase in recovery for LP Shoryuken might be REASONABLE. You get better juggles instead. Seems FAIR.
Low block for Ex Tatsu? That's weird, does that mean that it flies lower? It SHOULD HIT then LOW too! (and that would be good news for Ken). If not then it's just REALLY WEIRD - if you can block low, but can't hit low:(

No seriously when any good player doesn't normally even use a move because it's punishable on HIT let alone block, it probably doesn't need to be even more punishable.
Only high HIGH level players can even do cammys cancel so why are all these idiots whining about it? Even then it's not like it's blowing anyone else away, just extending combos that are nerfed in damage because there are more inputs.

All here combos from Third Strike, normal moves, and special moves (Scratch Wheel 3 hits/4 hits EX, Mallet Smash (2 hits/3 hits EX, Rhino Horn 2 hits/3 hits EX, Spin Scythe 5 hits/6 hits EX, Lynx Tail 4 hits/5 hits EX, Super "Spinning Beat (7 hits can be comboed)" U1 Brave Dance (10 hits can be comboed), U2 Healing (heals 50% of energy) or another attack Warrior's Rave {15 hits}) I know this is just an idea, however, it's wishful thinking.

Cammy- give her the Killer Bee Assault as an Ultra than Ultra 2
Makoto-give here more speed plus power
Chun Li- Let her dress blow in U2 and change her U1 into 2 quarter circles + KKK
Ibuki-Another combo with her roundhouse kick (4 hits), make her Hien faster, Kubi Ori slide under fireballs both regular and EX,U1 2 quarter circles than 2 half circles + PPP)
Rose-U2 give it a timer so ppl can combo with it

BTW anybody ticked that they did not change gen I did not even see him on the list he needs the most tweaking IMO his air kicks are predictable and Gekiro kicks should be better.
Love the fact that Yun and Yang are back. Sounds like Yun needs to be sped up, and change You Hou as his super and Genei Jin as Ultra. It seems more logical that way.
Why nerf Guile to that extent? I say nerf the damage, lower c.hp priority but keep the SB charging super meter. Thats reasonable.

- give Balrog more range on FA.

IDK why people thing Green hand not causing knockdown is a nerf. It gets you in, gives you frame advantage, and on top of that, it lets to throw/cyclone on thier ass after follow up. it doesn't do any less damage. TH, it probably opens them up for more than a more than likely failed cross up jump in.
Supposedly many people have said Guile's U1 is double QCF in this build, so you may not build meter while matching someone in a fireball war (even though you have almost no recovery so matching means free stalemate becuase you should be able to jump those EX fireballs) you can throw a sonic boom then instantly ultra any poke, setup, or jump in they may attempt. Pretty insanely good zoning in this build.
EX Banishing Fist non-knockdown is something I've been waiting for a long time. Yun seems like he'll be extremely average or low tier. Yang will also probably be average, them aside...Guile is gonna be horrible again I bet, I'm infuriated by Bison's U2 being charge but if they decide not to change him any further, that's perfect. Makoto needs an OVERALL damage buff, and her Hayate needs to be faster and quicker to cancel out of (Not the FADC cancel, but just dashing out of charging the Hayate should be faster, for mindgames.). Seth is gonna be horrible, unless they give him a SLIGHT endurance boost, since he has to rely on his specials only to zone now, also makes his matchup against grapplers a bit fairer. Juri needs a priority boost and should only stun when she does the fireball kick, so she can follow up with a fireball in the same combo, adds to her comboability and makes her less low tier. Blanka's roll thing is nice to know, I hope it applies to ALL his roll attacks. Cammy is probably gonna be high mid tier I bet, and if they ease up the link difficulty for Adon and raise his comboability and range on his normals, he'll be up there with her. Ken is getting the Ryu treatment, but they should just giving him a mid-air juggle move if they want him to be as good as Ryu, who should have a priority and recovery nerf on his Hadouken and Shoryuken, but the Tatsumaki nerf is a start. Honda shouldn't have gotten nerfed on the slaps, but a very subtle damage nerf could've been fine, part of the beauty of Honda is that his slaps are easily combo'd from anything. Rose could've used better start ups on some of her moves and El Fuerte could use some damage and priority, Abel could use some more combos, Rufus can get the nerf and Viper could use some better links to work with.
440+ posts and nothing new on Gen or guy? Hmm I guess that those players that want the time to play the new machine they will play as the easier characters.
Give us gen Fan some new info on his changes buffs etc. I know these wont be final but show some love for the least played characters.

Forgot to mention, Guy needs a speed boost, actual combos (Not that LP -> MP -> HP -> HK crap either, I mean, some target combos and links would be fine.) and somehow make it so his moves are able to be incorporated into a combo, he has literally no combo potential except his tatsu.
Everyone, if you're worried about these location test changes, please take a deep breath and realize that some of these are not going to see the light of day.
Also, remember that you're getting, if you're lucky, about 1/3rd of the story, and maybe a lot less than that. People are quick to notice nerfs, but buffs sometimes take awhile.
All of this information came within a few hours of playing the game, there's still A LOT more to be discovered and A LOT more that WILL be changing in the near future.
Let's just say for the sake of argument Capcom gave Ken a much improved Ultra 1 that was one of the easiest in the game to combo into. Do you think these nerfs to him would make more sense then? If you improve a character significantly, you're more than likely going to tone down a few aspects as well.
Anyway, it's a good idea to voice how you feel about the changes, as Capcom does read what you have to say on these issues, at the same time, keep it reasonable and try not to worry that they're going to make your favorite character unplayable or not competitive any more, as they actually have the opposite of that idea in mind with these updates.

I would like Dudley buffs please. Any of the three would make me happy. Extend the range for some of his normals, make more of his moves have frame advantage, or make EX Cross-Counter instant start-up. On top of it nerf his damage especially if the first two are done since he won't need such a ridiculous damage output anymore.

Good changes. Most are justified, except for Bison and Gief i think.
Blanka rolling can't be for most punished if you don't have distant attacks (Fireballs, slide from Hakan etc...). So really good change.
Seth have Jump HP Punch removed because of his matchup which is like 9-1/10-0 against some characters like Zanghief who can't do anything against him. In japan, matchup like that have the result to have the character forbidden although it's only against some other characters. So i agree with it, but i think they have put him some other buffs.
For Tatsumaki of Akuma and Ryu, it's a good thing for medium players because much run away and don't fight. But in tournament it's usefull when you are blocked in corner. So must see if it's good or not in long time.
Very good thing, that Ken can't chain light Shoryu then high Shoryu when he is in the ground because when we want to punish him, he punish us ... So good thing.

Yun is gonna be a beast, hopefully they increase his walk speed to about the same as rufus/balrog/ryu ect. i agree with every change they have made except for zangeif's ultra 2 distances and recovery buff, all of ken's buffs (he needs his DP damage/recovery NERFED) dudley doesnt need another EX MOVE that has INSTANT RECOVERY, chun li ultra 2 hits need to be reduced(cuz its dumb how it can miss the 1st 15 hits then randomly catch you an it does the full 20 hits instead of only doing the last 5 hits), seth needs his health increased to at least 850 since they took his J.HP
im somewhat happy about the makoto buffs but its not nearly enough. if all of her hayate punches were armor breaking and her ex had super armor and her command grab had as much priority as abel she would be amazing. happy ill beat blankas ass now though.

Are u retarded? Most character in the game can punish the ball as it is. Balrog can rush punch on hit/block, dhalsim fierce arms hit/block, bison can scissor on block, honda can head butt on block, chun ultras on block, akuma can ultra on block, abel ultras on block/hit, rose ultras on block.... U know its easier to just list who CANT punish the ball on block. Sakura,ibuki(i think she can, it might be tight timeing),ken, fei, t hawk, juri and zangief(guile is iffy, i have ex boomed b balls). Thats 7 out of 35(blanka can punish the blanka ball). Not to mention in the corner everyone can punish it and ex upball(ur main reversal) is punishable ON HIT in the corner with basicly anything u want(theres a few characters like vega that can punish ex upball anywhere on the screen). NOt to mention that u can mash jab and will either beat it or trade(balrog anyone?). People that cry about blanka are just people that dont know how to play the freakin game, he makes scrubs look free but as soon as u play decent players random balling doesnt work and for a character thats supposed to be so "cheap" how come he has yet to place at any tournament?
If ur gonna nerf the ball then ur best just takeing him out of the game cause now the only thing u would be able to do with him is run and mash lightning.
Just because the input's the same doesn't mean she can't do it. Capcom could have very easily changed the properties of the move so that she can only do it once she's reached the apex of her jump or after.
Cammy - Instant cannon strike needed to go. It forced the opponent into some ridiculous guessing games that were insanely rewarding for her. Now she can still do it but she has to spend meter to do so. Good s***
Blanka - Reduced recoil on beast ball, great against characters that had absolutely no punishment for it originally.
Honda and Guile - Damage reduction seems appropriate for Honda, but I'm not sure about Guile. I think Guile needs a slight nerfing in a different way.
Zangief - EX green hand doesn't knock down I initially thought would be a good thing? It speeds up the guessing game and I wonder if there are new combo capabilities because of it.
Ken - Light punch dragon punch needs to get punished if its whiffed. I'm sick of the scrubs mashing that s*** online and not getting punished properly for it.
What I'm hoping for...
Gen - Bring mk hands back... please! Make his ppp U2 add the stun counter like in alpha if you're going to insist it does grey damage. That would mean the opponent is forced to get their life back and accept a free stun, or try to hit gen/remove the counter with the risk of confirming the grey damage.
Also, they need to make his kkk U2 not trade with every move in the game. I thought it was to bait a reaction shoryu, but it gets beat by everything!
El Fuerte - Since vanilla they nerfed most of his moves (like he wasnt nerfed to begin with) and gave him a great U2, but since most characters have great Ultras anyway, it simply isnt enough.
They need to make the Quesadillia Bomb a viable move, as on block it can be punished by pretty much everything. At least allow it to be fadc'd into something, or combo'd after a close standing HK.
If they allowed a way of comboing into his standing close HK, he would be able to guarantee a bit of damage off of a c.lk like everyone else.

I'm scared of Yun's dive kicks already.

As a Honda player myself, I really don't mind the change of motion for U2, however I can not agree with the damage nerf. Honda needs his damage, he already has a hard enough time getting in on characters that have a decent fireball and anti air game, much less staying in on them.

It doesnt matter if balrogs ultra 2 is trash. Mash some jabs headbutt ultra is too easy to pick anything else. The only way u would get balrog players to pick any other ultra would be if it one hit killed.
Anyone who's thinking that such and so that needing changing didn't get changed because there's no info on it needs to calm the hell down. Those guys (such as boxer) with no info about them yet just didn't get played enough to know what changes there are. Keep it classy until we find out more, and remember that these changes are not final before you start bitching.

Now i'm kind of worried that the flip grab and palm aren't something Yang can do anymore. It's highly likely the people just didn't mention it, but it'd be annoying if they just took his moves.

Not sure how to feel about the EX Hand nerf. Many players like the cross-up/SPD mix-up that follows a knock down and Gief already had his Hand nerfed from SF4. That's why people are bitching, I really hope it doesn't suck as bad as it sounds right now.
Also, keep in mind that Ken is the one that should have a better Dragon Punch. He mastered it, so even if nerfed it needs to be better than Ryu's.
Tatsumaki escape is pretty essential in high level play for Shoto characters...and online, not sure if that's good or bad. Only time will tell.
Makoto and Hakan definitely needs buffs, along with Dee Jay (big time buffs) and T.Hawk. I think buffs should be applied to whoever needs it, less focus on nerfs...sigh.
Sucks for Sabin since that's all he ever did with Seth also why aren't there more changes to Chun, Ryu (just the hurricane kick really he still trades to ultra) and rufus, quit touching Gief punks.
Also if these changes do stick how will Seth Killian try to sell us on these because he did such a great job selling SSF4 Gen to everyone and we all know how that turned out.
I do not know where the information aboug Guiles SB comes from but it is bs. I am staying in Shinosaka and I just took the subway to Namba. I watched five fights with players using guile, his SB still builds meter.
Yang looks trash unfortunately =( He also seems to have huge recovery after his moves, especially his AA and his command grab (basically the same as Fei Long's, no damage but puts you on the opposite side of your opponent.)
The effects for Yun's EX lunge punch and his super are pretty cheese at the moment, not sure if they plan to change them, very grainy looking and they kinda look more like the effect Jonny Cage used to have for his Shadow Kick in the old MK games, rather than the effects they used in 3s.
P.S. There was one guy manning the 5 cabinets (4 multiplayer 1 single) You could easily record footage, it was hardly high security when I got there, though it was around 5:30pm, I assume it has calmed down, the wait to play was around 30 minutes or less.
From what I could decipher from a Japanese forum, it looks like boxers U2 is now also 2x halfcircle back. Also Ibuki seems to get an ex command dash with haze effect?
So Yang has the flip throw still? And i'm assuming the AA is his rolling kick. Does he still have palm thrust?
@Clover4Lyf: Yang shouldn't be hard to translate from SF3 to here actually, he wasn't very parry-reliant or juggle-reliant, all they need to do is keep him as a fast character with a strong offensive game, and he'd be good. Honestly, as long as he can attack fast and have small recovery, he'd be really good. If he had like, Fei Long speed and recovery, he'd be just fine.

Characters like Boxer already had a great first Ultra, thats why the 2nd one is more gimicky. People are so used to getting a free ultra off of a random headbutt that they can't fathom the idea of having to cleverly setup his U2.
I'm suprised to see some nerfs for some characters but atleast was expecting Boxer to be nerfed somehow lol.

Also, strangely I see no mention of Yang having a dive kick. I kinda forgot about it for a second, but, dive kick is very important to Yang. We need some more info on Yang.
I'm just kinda freaking out over what's not listed, i'm sure he'll have all his Third Strike moves. And i'll play him in SSF4 just like I did in Third Strike.
I almost got all of my SF3 characters in SSF4. Ibuki, Yang, and Twelve. Along with Fei Long (SF2 main) and Guy (SFA/SFZ main), i'd have all my characters I played seriously, aside from Rolento (very likely), Sodom (not so likely), and Q (no chance in hell).
It's only a location test guys. No need to get too worked up.
The only character I really wanna see in now is Karin,then I'll be in Rekka heaven :P.
Still,if there's gonna be more DLC characters,Capcom is probably gonna milk it to death..every month 'till december a new character reveal or something :P.
And when arcade hits..we'll know it'll be released as DLC for psn/xbl in april or something.
Fuerte doesn't need drastic buffs, but I agree with what someone said earlier about comboing from c.lk. Or at least make linking jabs not so difficult. I hope they don't touch U2 and Tortilla really needs to be like it was in Vanilla.
I hope Yuns upkicks don't suck like Dudley's uppercut. Good to hear that the EX version seems to be useful anyway. And it seems like Genei Jin could be pretty crazy.

Also about the balance changes I think most of them are good, only think that kinda ticks me off is how the opponent is able to block low from Ken's air hurricane kick, I mean where is his mixup now? This is still an early stage though so I hope they change this back.
Damn nice changes! I main Seth and I don't really rely on j.HP because of horrible priority so I don't mind if it is removed. Other changes are really good too. Really liked the removal of Cammy's instant dive kicks and reduction of e-honda's damage output. Nice Capcom!

Gief's nerfs is getting a bit crazy. Next time SPD does as much damage as Seth's XD

I think a lot of serious Gen fans agree with 493. Although his 7th comment I do not agree with, he is basically right.
He is difficult to use, he is super low tier, but he can be a beast in the right hands, even with the nerfs. Any buffs will just bring Gen back to Vanilla status.
As for his 7th comment, his Ultra 2s are deadly. The Crane style U2 goes through any fireball; and if you Mantis Super into Mantis Ultra, players will be fighting for their lives.

Yeah, I don't see the point in changing it to a charge as it's honestly not that good of an Ultra. It only has one way to combo into it, and even then his U1 has the same setup. The only reason it's useful is the ability to punish fireballs on reflex. If it's being changed like this, I hope it's being buffed in some other way, as the quarter-circle motion was almost the only reason to use it over U1 (Bison already has plenty of ways to punish fireballs which require a charge).
Finally! EX Hayate breaks armor! Thanks Capcom! Not too thrilled about the Axe Kick change though. Also should change EX Karakusa's range to at least MP Karakusa's range...

I think Capcom is going to create a debacle trying to accomplish balance perfection. Do they want 5-5 all across the board? gens ultra 2 crane can be beat by alot of poo ie croutching fierce air medium lp srk so on and so on it would be nice if there was a good way to combo in to it but with olg nerfs there goes that idea and the double air hk is hard to link in as well. and ultra 2 mantis i dont want to talk about look at all that grey damage at 25% life it should kill someone. as far as the first ultras i only have one problem with the u1 crane lk fadc to ultra does no damage it looks cool but dosent do enough damage and you cant hit the mantis ultra off it but that i can deal with. i dont care about the mk hands loop nerf that can stay and the low hop isnt needed either. the nerfs have forced me to explore gens options alot more and i think its made me a better gen player. still tho the man has problems and greiko needs more priority. other than that he fine cr mp to hp roll his roll is effing better than vegas where you can only cr lp to lp rcf or cr mp to lp rcf

hey capcom, great + exciting new idea to nerf blanka even more, because i play blanka and i hate hitting people / winning (i start crying like miyamoto irl whenever i win) but you need to work on this even more here are my ideas for the Balance Patch:
-every character given a move to punish electricity on hit.
-blanka ball nerfed by 10 frames on block and 50 on hit
-chip damage on ultra 2 nerfed
-ex roll no longer goes through fireballs
-if you win more than 25 matches as blanka a giant ono head pops up on the screen and he wags a finger at you and says CUT THAT OUT and your next opponent is guile with a 0.5 second charge for sonic boom and 2 frames recovery and it charges his ultra

When did people start to think E. Frigging Honda is overpowered anyway? Is it because of the tier list? Take a closer look at that thing, he's not that great at all against the other top tiers, he's just good at bullying weaklings. Have any of you complainers ever actually tried to play Honda? Any opponent with good zone awareness can shut you down cold, just like that. The infamous butt slam spam? Yeah, that only works on noobs, it's an unsafe move that's very easy for experienced players to block and punish. About the only time I can ever hope to land a non-EX butt slam against a strong opponent is on their wakeup, and even that's iffy.
But fine, go ahead, nerf his damage if that's what it takes to stop the whining. I just hope that doesn't end up definitively making him easy meat for Mr. Mother****ing 17% of Online Matches Ryu, because God knows it's a near thing already.

If you'd done your research they are hated worldwide that means america as well. No one likes t.hawk for real the same goes for deejay or sodom. Look at polls of capcom official and you'll see they are all dead last even ingrid is in the middle above alot of sf3 characters. also note that deejay and t.hawk aren't even like anywhere but the U.S. The only reason people wanted them back were to complete the ssf2 characters even i wanted them back for that.

lol You must not have been around when T.hawk and deejay were confirmed. No body wanted them over requested characters like rolento,karin,alex,or elena people were outraged actually. For the record in korea and japan t.hawk and deejay or hated i guess because they are western made characters, and even then there's alot of t.hawk hate here along with necro,oro,dalshim,twelve,Q etc. I like ingrid and i know she's unpopular hated but she light years more like than them if we do a world count. The only thing that gives t.hawk credit is that he's a classic but i bet if he were a new character just made for sf4 then he be even more hated like hakan.

I complete agree with your assessment (about all characters).
Guile should probably be nerfed - but damage reduction and removal of super meter gain from SBs is just ridiculous.
He already hits like a girl. Seriously, play a match as him - see just how many times you need to force them to jump and uppercut them to win. His main poke (st.HP) was already nerfed going into SSF4 - I'd hate to see how much damage it might do in the future... 100 is pretty lousy for a stand-alone HP as it is (somewhat), let alone less.
Any way, I like that most of these changes are targeting the abusable stuff that lesser players use - mostly.
Things that would make up for Cammy losing TKCS:
1. Free cannon-drill pressure (chip damage) like in HDR.
2. Hooligan grabbing crouchers.
3. Cannonstrike out of hooligan.
Give me at least 2 of those and I think it breaks even, and she might be more fun to play.
Ibuki's Kazekiri DOES need a buff. I'm asking for less startup time, as it's entirely useless as is. For the Dudley comparison, as least his is faster and can be used. If Ibuki starts hers at all, you have like 3 seconds before you need to worry about blocking.
I'm not saying she needs more life or complaining about her damage output or anything else. Fix the startup on Kazekiri, and she's good, she needs nothing else. And i'm not a former Sagat player, I still play the character I mained in SF4 (Fei Long) and am just asking for her DP to not take 30 years to come out like it does. Fixing this would at least give her SOME wakeup option.
I didn't really understand that part about Ken : Ken's EX Hurricane Kick can be blocked low. Does it mean that if I combo on a crounched opponent crounch Medium kick, EX tatsu it'll connect ?

Fuerte doesn't need anything, buff or nerf. He's got all he needs. The dash pressure alone, along with run stop fierce, is godlike.
I still think the best way to make Hakan better is when oiled up his standing fierce is an overhead. Though the stack idea I already thought was in SSFIV.
I was hoping for Fei Long's Gekirinken to have more priority over attacks or at least dodge projectiles. Oh well.

If you played with cammy you'd realize all that gimmick stuff cammy did wasnt garunteed and could easily be punished via mashed DP or some other over-prioritizing move in the game. cammy isnt a pick up- and -go character she has to work for her wins making her a good but fair character if anything she needed a good cross up cause most to all of her pressure is face forward. I dont see a single soul complainin bout braindead dps to ultra or headbutts to ultra!!
All that needs to be changed are buffs to the bottom tiers. The top tiers were all fine, none of them were OP or way better then the rest of the cast, Super was fairly balanced only problem was that the bottom tiers didnt stand much of a chance against better characters so just fix that.
All of you complaining just dont know how to play, everything was punishable nobody was OP the characters were just good. 10 minutes in training mode would have cleared up all the problems yall have with Guile, Cammy, Bison, Blanka, ect ect.

Ur supposed to walk forward after u block the ball. It isnt that freakin hard. I had a match where i had guile vs blanka, he just was random balling all day so i just walked forward after each ball was blocked, cornered him, then wrecked.

Cammy's TKCS leads too a good combo if not being DP mash or jab out and it was Cammy's main tool to help build some of that needed meter in the fight. So Cammy now will not only have to spend meter to TKCS but now you can't build that meter.

His ultra two is a great anti-air, and can be down while moving back, make the recovery a bit slower on that.
And make his meter build as fast/slow as the rest of the fireball characters.
How drastic is that? Each will make it more fair against him.

Jeez it sounds like Capcom is releasing a new edition of Super Street Fighter IV Championship instead of just an update. The amount of changes is no different than what they did to Super SF4 from vanilla. Super was one of the most balanced Capcom games but it seems they're nerfing already weak characters and buffing already strong characters. It now seems like there's no point in playing SSF4 until the DLC or arcade comes out because the game is going to be entirely different.
I don't play these characters as much but...
Cammy: No more instant cannon spikes for Cammy in SSF4 is like gimping C.Viper's burn kicks and making them so they can't be tiger knee motioned. It's literally destroying Cammy's pressure game and I hope they reconsider this.

Ima repeat this again... if you cant get out of cammys pressure or mix ups then your just not good, all her pressure can be down-backed and focus countered. And if you really mained her you would realize that you have to work really hard to get in with her in alot of match ups because of this engine and that she is real input heavy so you cant be a scrub to use her henceforth you dont see a whole bunch of cammys online..... I think the only people complaining bout cammy are the bumbs who sit back all day and cant take the pressure of a actual FIGHT in a FIGHTING game, this game is way too defensive already!!!!

Daigo's Ryu is going to be the same. He just needs to find another way to escape the corner. Seth players I guess can't play like a coward anymore with his jumping fierce(other than online tony). Geif players will have to find another to start their mix-ups. Blanka scrubs can't spam their ball anymore which is a good thing. I am disapointed that Boxer didn't get nerfed b/c he's the only one that was nerfed the least fro Vanilla.
Not sure how I feel about the recovery time addition on Sagat, but the rest is wonderful.

Retsu may be boring but if he was developed more, then he will easily turn out to be awesome & a fun character to play.Just look at what SFAlpha did for Adon, Birdie & Gen they made those characters looked awesome, CvS2 even made Eagle awesome to :)

Retsu's fighting style is different from Makoto, because he uses Shorinji Kempo, but Makoto uses Rindoukan Karate
When Gen 1st appeared in SF1, he didn't have any moveset just like Retsu, but when he was brought back for SFAlpha 2 they gave him alot of brand new moves, they can do the same thing with Retsu
I actually want Retsu, Geki, Lee & Joe to make it in the Future SF series, but for SSFIV: Arcade Edition I pick Retsu because he would make an interesting rival to Gouken

I didn't see a whole lot of changes that needed to be made to SSF4 to be honest, but here's what I did see that needed to happen:
Ibuki: Faster startup on Kazekiri
(You can fight me all you want on this, she needs it, she can't use this move at all outside of EX, it's not even that it always trades, they can straight beat you out if they wait for you, it has no invincibility frames whatsoever, so keeping it with no i-frames and speeding up the startup and that alone isn't a bad thing to ask)
Gen: EX Oga needs the invincibility back
Guy: Change the input for his air command throw, throw range for U2 extended OR 0 frame grab (either works)
Fei Long/Cammy: Gekirinken/CQC can counter Armor Breaks and lows (still lose to projectiles and throws/command throws though)
Aside from those changes, I think the game would be pretty much squared away.

As an (admittedly crappy) Adon player, Cody is a mother lover. Trying to get in on him is a joke. Try an Instant Air-Jaguar Kick my way in = Ruffian Kick/Criminal Upper/Zonk Knuckle. A cheeky Jaguar Tooth is taken down by Criminal Upper/Ruffian Kick/Bad Stone/Jaw Crusher. Focus some Bad Stones for a frontal attack with Rising Jaguar? Nope, Ruffian Kick/Zonk Knuckle/Criminal Upper. What if I just say, Screw it, I'll try to jump in or cross up. Think again, Jaw Crusher stops that.

i swear. Super was as good as u could get wit the balance. All we needed was small tweaks and small buffs to bring up some of the worst off characters. I hate seth like crazy but u can beat that runaway jumping fierce crap so its not like it was broken(if they wanted to nerf his runaway, make his jump more floaty, or takeaway the wall jump).

I love that Vega's ST got better, but why nerf is Ex wall dive throw? he does little damage as it is. O well it won't be too bad.
It would be awesome if they gave him an Ex izuna drop and can be activated from a normal or Ex wall dive. It would have have same damage, but more range or priority. If you miss the Ex throw his double claw slash will come out hopefully punishing any focus attacks.

Well three of my favorite chars have seemed to get the shaft with this update. Cammy without instant canon strikes is like ryu without hadouken. Honda is only top tier cus of his match ups with the lower tiers, he has big trouble getting in on most of the high tier zone characters and needs that damage to compensate. And why remove the HHS combo? Such an unneeded nerf. And lastly Rose. Why the hell tamper with one of her only options for a lot of situations? She needs that invincibility with that ultra to make it a viable choice. Now it'll be a lot harder for her to work it in. I hope this changes aren't the final version and won't stay.

It was a reasonable assumption seeing as how gief sets up his vortex type scenario with the KD of that move. You don't know for sure what frames will be like after hit if it leaves them standing

Why the hell would you nerf Vega's EX wall throw damage? That's his BnB of many of his combos, but then again, I guess they will make it so ST can link into the EX kick -> wall throw so they nerfed the damage. I'm pleased to hear about Guy, but he could use an overall speed boost and create more room for links and target combos (Imagine if he could link target combos in each other like Dudley can.). Cody's walk speed did need speeding up, so that's cool, he could've benefitted from better dashes too, but I'm happy with what's given. Seth is confirmed to be **** tier, I'm waiting for the Dhalsim nerf, the Abel nerf wasn't TRULY necessary but then again, it was called for. Lastly, Blanka's rolls are more risk & reward now, seemingly, if it lands it's safe, if it doesn't land, it's going to be lolpunished, meaning that Blanka Vs. Shotos is impossibly hard for Blanka now, and Blanka USED to be the Shoto killer, but now it's damn near impossible. I'm waiting for the Dee Jay buffs.

Its a Terrible thing. Thats a good way in getting people to stop playing their game. If they want people to try something new then add new characters. Not break a current characters to be played a different style.
For those of you who don't understand what changed about Gouken's counter (Kongo), I think I finally understand. It says "Gouken's counter move (Kongo) has been changed. It's now done with a reverse Dragon Punch motion with Punch."
But that's confusing because that's the way it's always been done. What they changed, is that instead of punch kongo countering high and kick kongo countering low, there's no longer a kick based kongo: LP kongo counters low, MP kongo counters high. HP kongo's use is still unknown at this point. EX kongo counters both low and high. Catalyst, could you please clarify this as the bit where it says "It's now done with a reverse Dragon Punch motion with Punch" because that's how it's always been done. Thanks.

Sagat buff(?) was deserved. I think they dropped the nurf hammer to hard on him. What made him OP in vanilla was his damage and his tk traps were to strong. This seems like the version the game was supposed to have. TK traps are back but not to much and damage is the same so he seems fine.
I thought this balance was going to be based on the tourney scene but I guess not like Gief or bison were dominating.

Not necessarily. They could add an option for players to play with the current balance or if they have the paid for DLC, play with the new changes.
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection had a similar system.

I still don't fully understand the reasoning behind nerfing Bison's U2. I mean, can someone tell me which matchup was unfair because of the way it was? Because I should really be abusing it more if it pwns the crap out of a particular character. It can be blocked, it can't be comboed into except in ONE situation that U1 already does, and Bison already has ways to punish a fireball. If they wanted to nerf it to be "fair", they could've just changed the frame data - but doing that AND changing the input means that no-one's going to use it anymore.

On another saltier note, I'm PISSED, I knew they just couldn't just go through all these nerfs without touching my main, seriously, Fuerte's U2 doing 500 on Max meter was perfectly fine, more than fine actually, it made him a big time threat. OK if they nerf it to 490 or 485 or something I wont mind to much, but PLEASE do not tell me it has gone below Giga Buster, which was already nerfed to hell anyway.
The thing is Fuerte doesn't do much damage anyway, he doesn't have damaging combos apart from RSF. This is flat out ridiculous, I wont go too crazy till I get more details but for now: AAAARGH!!!

Sagat Buff was expected. He got too nerfed in SSf4 IMO. His tiger shot recovery is pretty slow, his dmg was reduced in pretty much every move and his TK traps were non-existent. As a Sagat player from SF4 and still in SSF4, I'm glad with the way he's been changed. I don't need anymore dmg added, but just for him to feel a little more Sagat-like. I love his standing short into specials too :D

What the hell are they doing to Seth? These changes make the least sense out of them all. What is he even supposed to do now? I should hold my breath until ALL changes are finalized (including any possible buffs to Seth), or even confirmed to begin with, but this just sounds wrong. C+ players always hatemail me about his jHP and U1 being "cheap," but anyone with any amount of skill has absolutely no problem getting in and steamrolling my glass Seth. I'm just left dumbfounded.

I welcome the well needed buffs for some of the other characters, but there really should have been any nerfs at all. Damage tweaks maybe, but nothing at all with frame and hitbox changes.

Balancing is a never-ending process. Most of the things they are trying out are probably things left out during SSFIV.
Since I main Makoto all this sounds good. Don't think Oroshi needed MORE invincibility frames due to the fact (with proper timing) it can stuff or pass through alotta stuff. Had a scrub wakeup Metsu Hadouken with me point blank and it passed right by using EX Oroshi. Still would like to see EX Karakusa's range expanded a bit
Gouken's LP Palm move sounds good also my guess with the HP Kongo is it will be for crossups while MP will whiff on crossups. It's just a guess so don't be too critical...
anybody know if the japanese are going to use the full 37 characeers if thats so than that would be sweet because the console players would get to watch high lvl japanese play as well
My only complaint is, why the hell did they make BISON'S ULTRA 2 A CHARGE COMMAND MOVE NOW instead of keeping the original command. As a Bison mainer, I can instantly see that they definitely nerfed this ultra 2 of his down! Damn you Capcom. I don't even see any viable reason why they had to do this!!! aside from them wanting to NERF him! This limits the use of his ultra 2 BIG TIME!

as a fuerte player i think his ultra spark was overpowered but really good in certain match ups. i think giga buster is much harder to catch people in so if any of his ultras were to be 500 dmg then it should be giga buster.
Dictator's U2 is now a charge move. So much for a fireball counter. If you see dictator charging with a Ultra meter that gives a big hint you shouldn't throw fireball anymore. Sagat's lk into a special was technically there before. You just have to do it further away to avoid the two hits. I guess now it's back to one hit anywhere. His dp does more dmg. How much more? 20 more dmg? I hope sagat still has his dp trade into forward hk heh. hmm maybe the previous vanilla sagat players may go back to him now at tourneys, who knows. I was hoping they'll make Guy's jump drop faster. His floating jump so annoying. mp into hp combo can combo easier doesn't mean Guy gets better overall.
Still wondering what the change about Ken ex tatsu actually changes..... "Ken's EX Hurricane Kick can be blocked low.". AQnyone knows what it does mean ? That help me as well as Nalalelu 8still playing Ken I see) ;)
Oh and one more thing.. Bring back Ken's Standing Medium punch -> Standing Hard punch -> hadouken -> Ultra 2 from third strike into SSFIV. Then I'll definitely be maining him and once again he'll be the true rival of Ryu in the TOP TIER department.. lol!
Um, there were no Ultras in third strike. There were only Super which could be canceled into from just about anything.
The SFIV series has Supers like that already.
El Fuerte got only Damage nerf on his Ultra, It did too much, even if hes low tier, it dosent mean he should get one strong ultra while other top tier mid tiers get normal damage from it, you should be good that they not nerfing his moveset. I know super is balanced, like some others said, im sure Capcom wont screw up the balancing with super being this good balanced wise so far

I knew they nerfed his tortilla (which is a HUGE part of his arsenal), but I haven't seen that much difference in is fajota buster. However, I'm still waiting for those buffs:
-Make his chop(cl.LP) chain and not link
-Quesadilla bomb as an input OR a charge move but like balrog's turnaround punch
-Longest distance on an EX guacamole leg
-Make his gordilla sobat armor breaking
-His grab should be the fastest in the game
-More hit box on his cross-up J. HP
-A less gay backdash
But I think some nerfs are needed:
-Ultra 2 should be nerfed to 460-470 dmg
-RSF should not exist
Finally, all I would like is him to be a decent character because you are good at mixing up your opponent and ****ing his brain and not because you can RSF 10 times in a row...

Ultra Spark is a strong Ultra, tbh, it's one of the best, but as a Fuerte mainer, all it does is make him more viable, it's not something that puts him in the same league as someone like Balrog, that damage is important because it's not like he gets anything significant from guaranteed damage outside of RSF.
Seriously I will ONLY accept this nerf if they improve his comboability, or make it so Giga Buster can punish fireballs full screen. Come on Capcom, lower characters should be getting buffs, higher characters should be left alone. They should be doing important stuff such as fixing Blankas dumbass hitbox and Dudley's stupid glitches

Capcom wont remove RSF. Players spend months learning that combo, it's Fuerte's only effective combo and removing would be a slap in the face to anybody who could get more than 4 hits with it

why remove his only reliable combo? and it's sad that RSF is elf's only reliable combo, elf has to use risky unsafe resets and mix-ups to win.. a 500 damage ultra was completely necessary.. don't nerf elf... give buffs..
also, if giefs ex hand can no longer knock down, then make it so that he can combo into his SPD or 'TL' aka 'too late'.. i mean, combo using a hit stun..

Thank goodness Blanka's roll recovery distance has been shortened. Gave my Sakura problems and when I picked Blanka I would give Sakuras problems lol. So glad Dud's is getting more recovery for the rose. That was an important part of his arsenal in 3S. Now if they would only put the rose damage back in...

Just cuz someone is top tier doesn't mean they deserve to get nerfed.
Someone should get nerfed if they are top tier AND also have balanced matchups: someone like Chun Li or Balrog.
Guile and HOnda on the other hand are top tier but they aren't quite as competitive as one might believe (especially Guile). Sure they own most of the cast, but some of the cast also owns them. They have unbalanced matchups (a lot of 4-6 matchups to go with their 6-4's).
This is why I really protest this dumb Guile nerf. Ever wonder why Guile players don't win as many tournaments as you'd think given his very high tier ranking? Cuz even if a good guile player owns people at a tournament, sooner or later, someone in some bracket will pull out a dhalsim, akuma, fuerte, viper, or any of his other struggling matchups and knock him out.
Nerfing Guile will make his situation worse: it willl bring his 3-7 matchup nightmares back.
Poeple like Guile, Zangief, Honda should never be nerfed. People with unbalanced matchups need to be as high tier as possible because they are risky
I wouldn't mind the GUile nerf if they also gave him something to take on Akuma, Fuerte, Viper, Guy, Abel, and the other characters he struggles against (a fixed flash kick with less recovery, for example, could provide this)
Why? Cuz I'd rather have a mid tier Guile with balanced matchups then what is already is ssf4. Balanced matchups are more important to me then tier rank, but his nerf will worsen both for Guile.

It was not necessarily a glitch, Clovr4Lyf. In fact, within the game engine it makes a lot of sense and doesn't break anything.
You do a move, somehow make the move have very little recovery and perform the move again.
Viper has something extremely similar to this, is this a glitch? Absolutely not.

As a Cody player I'm just fine with the changes he's recieved. Some of the others seem odd or just wrong to me but since i'm not very good with every character I cant argue with them.
• A Zangief player (defender) who'd just been hit by an EX Green Glove did a Spinning Piledriver that beat out another Gief's (attacker) Spinning Piledriver.
Perfect example why this is a fail other characters can simply do a dp input move, or simple throw or other grapplers just a command throw it's a stupid idea.
Cornwad if they really paid attention at evo how come Rufus hasn't been on this list or Akuma & Ryu (Air tatsu that's the best you could come up with)

Nope, Its just ONE example. I only threw that example out because I use both of these characters. Balancing is so tough. Giving a character one negative can be a small plus for the few characters that have a hard time. But for the characters that are already stronger, they could possibly become overpowered. Correct me if my wrong, but I remember Blanka's roll landing closer in SF2. If Blanka becomes useless, Capcom will hopefully take notice and fix the problem.

Don't worry, I know how hard it is to pull out the RSF in a game. Elf is my main, and it is currently the main objective of my training sessions since about 1 month.
What I tried to say is that I think there are ways to make elf more "combo friendly". I mean, he's the "small fast guy" archetype present in every fighting game since the dawn of time. If someone should get combos, it should be him.
I don't say RSF is unuseful, nor easy to pull out. I just think they could correct this "kind of bug" but give elf more viable combos by replacing some links with chains and nerfing some of his normal moves.

Seth: Jumping back + HP + Sonic booms =/= good zoning.

Most of the nerfs are for people that "struggle". I have yet to see a tournament level match with a blanka that did nothing but random ball non stop and win. But then again when was the last time u seen blanka in a tournament?

Please... no drastic Ryu changes? I mean he's obviously underpowered.
His rush-down game is so weak, he definately needs to get better. I mean, when Ryu does a blockstring the opponent only has to block or tech the throw. Thats not much of a guessing game.
Therefore i strongly demand a commanthrow for Ryu, and not the Abel-type, a real 360 (like Giefs SPD). Then Ryu would finally be able to compete against the legion of much better characters like Guy, Makoto or Gen.

Ooorrr Any SA fighter like Karin, Sodom or Birdie, only because they're unique. My ultimate dream sf game would include every character from sf1 and so on (including/excluding EX characters)!

SF3 Online coming soon is actually a reason FOR putting SF3 characters in SSF4. It's Ono's way of testing which version is better sort of thing, he wants to outdo himself. And besides, the SF3 cast >>>>>>> SFA cast. The only cool characters specific to SFA (fighting game wise) were Guy, Rolento, Sodom, Gen, and Dan. All the other SFA losers can burn.

Not happy about the changes to Bisons Ultra too, completely agree with 516 here. Wanted to start using a new character in SSF4, I chose Bison and a lot of appeal was in the Ultra 2 motion.. got him to a B-level, might try a different character now if the change him. Bit disappointed.
I think Makoto doesn't really need ex-hayate to have guard breaking property. it's nice and all, but it's a lot better if the ex-hayate actually have a super armor like balrog or go through projectiles like Gouken's. If Makoto has any of these, it would make matches with zoning characters much easier.

Im a hardcore sagat user and I im very dissapointed of sagat new nerf, more recovery time for sagats high tiger shot is just dum his hole game resolves on his tiger shot zoning game. and he honestly dont need more damage on his DP he got his TK to combo with. So I really dont knw what capcom his thinking. S.LK 1 hit is good for footies game but sagat is mainly a zooning character. So if they really puts more recovery time on his fireballs hes junk.

Stun nerf on Chun Li was damn needed. Best sweep in the game and basically unpunishable (-5), 200 stun for that hell of a poke was broken imho, especially given some of the sweep changes other character suffered.
D/F+LK nerf is okay with me too, that went from pointless to just too good.
Sure, she still is a damn beast and top tier, but Chun is not utterly broken or anything. They should help low tiers, instead of destroyed top/high characters.

i totally agree that it did need to be nerfed, i was just making a comparison between the two characters and what was done to them. chun li is just as good as cammy in this game, yet she is only receiving one small nerf. cammy's most valuable tool has basically been taking out completely, unless you want to waste a super meter bar doing it. i totally agree that they should help low tiers like sakura, gen, and makoto and leave the higher-tiered characters as-is. i could understand it if it was a game breaking move, but TKCS is FAR from overpowered. I don't play Seth at all but these are major nerfs. His jump HP was pretty good but the nerf to his Ultra 1 is crazy. One of the reasons it was so good was that you could use it to punish shotos who throw a fireball from full or mid screen. This greatly decreases it's viability.
Ok all of you saying Sagat is buffed are ridiculous. Sagat is worthless with a nerfed Tiger shot game.
As a Sagat player, I'm pleased that they upped his Tiger Uppercut Damage and made his Light Kick a one hit again, but it's somewhat frustrating that they have made his High Tiger Shots as bad as his Low Tiger shots and also why have they added more recovery to his Tiger Knee's? They already have awful recovery even when only the tip of his knee hits. While the improvments to his Uppercut and Light Kick are nice, Sagat is worthless if his Tiger Shots get nerfed =\
Something I would like them to fix for Sagat is have is Tiger Cannon like Ryu's Metsu Hadoken, it's stupid when you do a TU-FADC-High Step Kick then Tiger Cannon and it only hits 3 times?
Sagat is NOT worthless with a nerfed Tiger Shot game, it just forces you to be more physical with the character, and use his normals and such, it's part of the character. He's got muscles, use 'em. :P. I'm trying to figure out where Ryu's changes are, his EX Tatsu should have more recovery, well, Tatsu's in general could. Ryu's lp shoryuken could use more recovery (Obviously he should still be able to U1 out of it, but the lp shoryuken should STILL have more recovery.) and lastly, unblockable super -> U1 should die. That's a bunch of things that I'm butt hurt about since I got owned by one Ryu too many.
Many of these alleged 'rebalancing' changes puzzle me greatly. I don't see why they can't basically just leave the top tier/mid-high tier characters where they are, and just give a boost here and there to the bottom tier and low-mid tier. Add, don't take away.
Too bad Sagat isn't Chun. He is not meant to be in your face. HE IS A ZONING CHAR. So unless they give him gdlk footsies (they won't)he's screwed. His walk speed is too atrocious for him to be a primarily footsie char.
He's not really a footsie character though, I'm just saying it's supposed to be like Ken, you're not supposed to use Ken for his projectiles, you're supposed to use Ryu/Akuma for that, Ken is supposed to be more physical, basically. Luckily Sagat has a buffed Tiger Uppercut, so using the f.mk -> Tiger Upper works better, his standing fierce kick is still bs and such. You can make due without the fireball game, and I only say so because when I use Sagat, I have success with him WITHOUT doing the fireball zoning.

I do use my fireballs, but not exclusively, like some other people, I zone using mostly my other tools, ESPECIALLY if the character I'm facing has no fireball, however, the fact that I can win the fireball war against any other character with a fireball is probably why. So perhaps the nerf will make me WISH I could fireball zone. And just because I call the Hard/Heavy Kick the Fierce Kick doesn't mean that I don't know what I'm talking about.

With everything I see for Seth, they BETTER have bumped his health up or I'm going to stay exclusive to Juri. I play Juri and Seth, and seeing Juri get a combo into a fireball makes me want to play her more than before! Seth is just getting nerfed the hell out of for no reason.
Gen isn't as popular as most of the other cast. I too would love to here some changed other than combo more off normals and Crane U2 is faster. It seems not enough.
Then again more players are trying to get more time so they use their mains to win. As I can see winner stays loser goes.

Blanka doin absolutely nothing but turtling sense now short ball anything will be sniffed out a mile away(it doesnt work on anyone decent anyway). Or how about the honda nerfs? That dmg is what 1)gives him good comeback potential 2)somewhat keeps him in the game versus runaway characters like chun/akuma(since again, he can set up some ochio and hands and get the dmg). Blanka needs to be random and have lots of options to be effective, so taking away one more option(random ball now and then) will hurt him a lot.

Clearly you don't get the meme; I was referring to the bed intruder song, but w/e. Without those things 99 second matches will be the norm. I'm not going to be happy if those things happen, especially since it's part of the system since all of those moves are SKD moves. They need those "toys" to be a fundamentally stable character, I just wish they lost priority on some of their moves (besides Ryu, he's fine as he is).
why does everyone feel the need to switch chars just because they got a little nerfed (or in some cases a big nerf). stick with the character you have always played. i play Bison and now that they made his ultra 2 a charge, its gonna be so much harder to counter fireballs. his only way to counter fireballs btw (other than headstomp but that move is garbage). im kinda glad that hes getting nerfed too, that way when i win i dont look like im using a top-teir character. my piont is you shouldnt switch just because your character is now garbage, need i remind people of a certain someone who beasts with low teir characters... *cough...Kuroda...*cough*
@950,954 This isn't something new they balanced SF4 and SSF4 by nerfing and bufing character in order to find balance.(they have many different versions) Its a long process and the final result it way different the starting builds. You would be surprised about how much they learn about bad match ups for nerfing a character. They also look at what worked and didn't work in each version and put some aspects together to see if that would work.

I can do Bison's charge moves without problems or failing, but that doesn't necessary mean I like them. Now that U2 is changed I no longer do it instantly for example when a shooto throws a fireball. Instead I have to bait it out by charging which SUCKS. Therefore a change of main is gonna be made.
I found a typo.
"• Ultra 2, Tenshin Senkyuu, rolls forward along the ground and goes up in the air with a rising kick. If Yang connects cleanly on the ground with the roll portion, the rest of the animation kicks in. If not, Yun goes up in the air with kicks. This Ultra will pass under fireballs and it has some tracking properties. If his Ultra 2 is started while the opponent is in the air, Yang will rise up with kicks where they're jumping, but in this scenario it won't lead to full damage. This can be comboed into off of a Focus Attack Dash Cancel or Medium Kick Launcher for less damage, again it won't connect fully in these situations."
The mistake is "If not, Yun goes up in the air". It needs to be changed to Yang.
Since this version of super is best yet. Would'nt it be possible for them to just realy focus on all 7-3 match-ups across the board?
i.e. adjusting some priority on some moves over others that trade in them match-ups? little touches like that but leave others 6-4 / 5-5 matches as is, since they are pretty tight anyways.
I guess good news to all guile and gief players sonic booms does build meter and the green arm move does some crazy mixups

Are you serious? Bison is a CHARGE character. The fact that he has a motion input makes as much sense as Ken having a Charge input for his Ultra. Chun Li players have been punishing fireball throwers since day one with her U1 and that's a Charge motion also.
If your opponent has enough room to throw a fireball and you aren't charging or considering a charge you were obviously playing the wrong character in the first place. It's a nerf but Bison is still virtually the same

• Hit box on Medium Punch, Hard Punch chain combo was fixed, it no longer will miss against some players who crouch.
• Hard Punch Dashing Elbow is faster and can be used to hit characters out of their fireballs a little easier. Light Punch Dashing Elbow is now safe on block against Zangief and T. Hawk's 360 command grabs.
• Toward + Medium Punch overhead hits twice.
These three things about the Guy buffs/fixes make me SO happy. Especially the first one about medium/hard punch chain combo. That was a nightmare dropping that chain against Balrog for seemingly no reason.

Not to mention it ambiguously crosses up, has good invincibility, leaves Fei right where he wants to be, gives him a free 50/50 guessing game every time, leads to damaging combos, hits in the air, breaks focus, hits multiple times, avoids fireballs, punishes throws.
Can't think of another move in the game that has all that going for it.
It honestly makes me worried when I see someone going to that much trouble just so that they can make a post with an "important" number. Like when people constantly say: "first!". Nobody cares. I can't, even if you put a gun to my head, tell you who was "first post" in any thread, ever, without actually going to check.

Also, shadows of doubt were cast on some of the things listed, which I've tried to note all instances of.
Keep in mind — a really heavy portion of this list needs to be taken with a grain of salt. While some changes have been confirmed, others are speculation and assumption based on what players have seen.
Some reputable people have claimed things have been changed only to have that same information refuted hours later. It's not like they're purposefully trying to spread misinformation, it's just that this environment doesn't lead to getting 100% of the facts straight.
So some of the stuff listed here 'seems' like it was changed, but this is a location test and could just as quickly be reverted back to how it was in SSF4 on the consoles.

Here are my thoughts on Dhalsim's Yoga Fire not building as much meter...
His Super is a really great way for him to deal damage, and definitely a match changer. Making the route to a Super a little more difficult to climb might be one of the best ways to nerf Dhalsim if they feel he's too strong without, "nerfing him into oblivion."
Dhalsim definitely needs his Super, pretty much fully intact how it is now, because he doesn't have a lot of options to deal high damage in combos, and building up a full Super meter takes some time. Adding more time to this may even him out a bit with the rest of the cast.
This is just idle speculation on my part. Keep in mind, that change is definitely a maybe at this point, not confirmed.

I have no idea. I main him and Juri, but I'm ok with what I'm hearing. I'm a rush down Seth, so lowering the priority of the tap kicks for the dive kick to be faster is a worthy trade. The dhalsim hp takeout was somewhat dramatic though and made no sense to me. If they took it out to raise his health, then by all means raise his health. I'm crossing my fingers for 850 stamina.
I hope these changes don't come to the console. I can't STAND the half circle back half circle back ultra motions! One of the reasons I always pick Honda's Oicho grab is because it's so easy! I can never land those half circle back ultras when I want to. Also, I'm going to be pissed if they change Bison's Psycho Punisher to a charge ultra. Bison's my main, and I always pick that one because I can always do it whenever I want. Now I have to charge back first :(

I always love playing Guy but the chain not working properly keeps reminding me that he is not complete and not competitive. Looking at the other changes Sagat has gotten, I don't think the Sagat/Zangief situation has changed *too* much. Besides, I'm sure that even with more recov, Sagat can throw them like hell at big ol' Gief.
But again, changes ain't final yet.
These changes are good. It enforces the "two mistakes you loose" style. It also makes the game a bit more offensive by making safe/spammable moves less rewarding. I play Sim and I will not be able to spam the fierce yoga fire to build meter but I don't mind at all, is not like thats the only way I know how to deal damage.

-Yang's Focus Attack looks like Gen's 2 hit overhead.

They made Gouki's Shakunetsu totally worthless in SSF4 after a SRK FADC, to the point that a EX SRK gives more damage. That's just ridicolous, 1 EX Bar giving more damage than 2.
So no, it's nothing to complain about, given all the nerf the poor guy's taken - and is taking, see walkspeed and escape Tatsu.

Too many scrubs spamming it? Yea they're spamming it doesn't mean an automatic grab or doesn't mean you can't counter it. EVERYONE has a punish for his U2 (unlike blanka ball). You want the armor gone b/c those "scrubs" are grabbing you with his Ultra. Maybe you're the scrub and should learn how to counter it. Abel's U2 is fine. There's nothing wrong with it. You can easily fake people out with it. Countering is just as easy.
Very Happy that tiger-uppercuts become stronger, there is no way normals should be stronger than it.
Slower upper shots, how slow? Hope it's nothing too drastic.I found it to be pretty fair making the down shots much slower, at least players could actually get in on Sagat.
MK/HK tiger knee's were already terrible in this game to being with, so unless they want us to only us LK knee's I suggest they just eliminate that MK/HK knee's from the game(lol).
The fact that angry scar is still in the game makes me think that the damage gets increased to about 120-140 and maxes out at 200 with the scar.
One poster said Sagat's U2 needs to be more like Ryu's U1, but no offence I believe Sagat's is better for him.
Overall for sagat, still unknown, if the upper-shots stay the same I'll be thrilled, if not I'm going to have to work harder!
Oh, and one last change I'd want. I want stricter timing overall in the game. Even though I pretty much got down how to do kara tiger shots, there is still times where I bust out an upper cut or a knee and the other player thinks i'm on crack lol.

If you activate her U2 during an attack and you block you can't combo into anything since she's in block stun. Seth's move where he sucks you in (not the ultra, but his special move) nullifies her orbs, as do projectiles; throws, well timed normals, specials with initial invincibility, grab ultras all destroy her orbs since they hit her or cause her to be thrown or tech a throw so it's not an all powerful move. Rose needs this Ultra 2 the way it is, if not let her do good combos without eating up a whole bar of meter, make her HP reflect have better range and have the opponent stay within range so she can combo the soul throw/U1, or give her a viable reversal or make her moves safer without the need for perfect spacing.
Oh and since nobody's said anything of this sort in a good while now...

That was me that said Sagat's Tiger Cannon should be similar to the Metsu Hadoken, I think you may have misunderstood me, if not I aplogise ahead of time.
What I meant is the Tiger Cannon when Canceled into or what ever should hit like the Metsu Hadoken in terms that it does the max damage. It's frustrating when I pull off the FADC and the Tiger Cannon hits two or 3 times and then all of a sudden goes through them. I Prefer to use Tiger Cannon since I find it easier to land over Tiger Destruction.
I hope Capcom keep his Tiger Uppercut buff and improved light kick in, but leave his Tiger Shots alone, they have bad recovery already, Like EmblemLord said he is somewhat useless without his Fireball game. Those improvements wouldn't make him like his SF4 Counterpart so people shouldn't complain hopefully.

As a struggling Dee Jay player, It's awesome that he will have an over head. I managed without it, but I'm glad that he will have one now. I also hope the EX Air Slash speed boost is true, as I feel that it was pathetic. Also, Ryu being able to Hurricane Kick over my air slash is fukking bull. Hope they fix that too.

Compared to the OP Sagat of SFIV of course he is ass. Specially if you can only be decent with an overpowered character.
For regular players, he's still one of the best in the game. Now he's just balanced as any character has to be in a fighting game. Not the bullsh-t of SFIV.

Ive always played Sagat and I always will. I play a very balanced aggressive rush down Sagat with occasional kara fb's. Never once had a problem vs anybody and about 80% of my loses online are due to lag or a learning curve vs odd characters. Glad hes getting his std lk cancels back but I adapted and enjoyed the dble hit sf2 style std lk. I am a lover of the tiger knee though theres no greater way to wreck a kid on a 7ft tall muay thai fighter. Hope its not complete ass this time around, but glad I may get lk tiger knee pressure back. Beyond all else I rather enjoyed seeing nearly 0 Sagats online and hope he doesn't get too popular with the bad newbs again......

I don't play as Seth except for training mode combos, and I've only played a couple online, and from this little experience all I can say about the j. HP thing is that I don't really see a reason to remove it. His zoning looks like it's pretty good, and I'm not sure if j. HP will be a massive game changer, but it sure feels like it is a very important normal. But again, I have very little experience, so my opinion is basically void.

For those of you who are saying that Charge-based characters should not have motion command ultras are ridiculous. Granted, I respect you guys opinions and you guys do have some legitimate reasons why but in the history of SF charge-based characters always had motion command supers. For example, Chun li's super fire ball has always been a motion command move and characters like her in 3rd strike never had a charge super art.
I am not happy with Bison's ultra command change but as it is stated this build is not finalized.
Don't do this to my luchador....All they really need to change for El Fuerte (no changes would also be swell) is to make U1 do more damage than U2......that's it.
If they nerf his run moves like that, I will most likely look for a new character (or game).

This was taken from the Japanese Wiki which said Rose lost invincibility on her Ultra 2, it didn't explain further, though. The only thing people can do to Rose — in the console version of SSF4 — after she activates is throw her if she's close enough, besides that, she can block and is completely safe once activated. I'm guessing Capcom made this move so it's not a complete escape all, and made it slightly vulnerable, I doubt it's completely nerfed, and even if it is, I don't think it will stay that way.

People this is a location test so they can gather information from the mass public who plays SSF4, please do not rush to conclusions because this is certainly not a final build. Capcom seems to be wanting a more hands on way to view the preferences of players and there input - that's all! And one more thing if I may add. Characters have become nerfed or buffed, but it is pretty annoying that when the character you main gets nerfed the complaining never stops, but when someone elses character gets nerfed you pay no mind to it. Wheres the equality!

I'm an Abel player myself from day 1 SF4 was released in the Arcades, and the way newbs started choosing Abel because of his U2 is a bit of an insult to Abel, cause any no skill player can execute that move with absolutely NO RISK at all :D
So yeah i would love to challenge you to a match and select Blanka for you and execute Blanka balls all day. Lets see if you figure out a way to counter/stop them. The move has a risk factor, and pros wont spam the move, maybe only the newbs you play online.

Just got a message from Hoigek (one of two gen players that went to the Test) saying that the other gen player discovered gen was given a target combo..there may be more than one target combo but he cant say for sure.

Makoto didn't need Armor-breaking EX Hayate to be viable. The last thing we need is for her most common special move to have armor-breaking properties. It does allow her to get in close easier and put on the pressure. The added invincibility frames on her EX Oroshi, however, is EXACTLY what she needed. People could just crouch jab her straight out of that attack. Now she can really get in and stay in.
ok i won't be hasty i will still jam ssf4 but bb is too cool though hakumen is just ice cold makes akuma look tame. anyway enough gush. if this is dlc surely they could go the gta4 episodes route and put it on disc as well as dlc i am running out of space on my ps3 hardrive. also would they put in a new trial mode for the new characters as well because if it's like the bb route with makoto and them lacking story modes i will not be happy because this update definitely needs to hit consoles early next yearwith all the trimmings.

rose ultra 2 isnt really cheap at all. A lot of people just don't know how to counter it or block it. Mainly rose ulta should be buff only by power

Roses U2 is pretty cheap... if your life is low, you're almost gauranteed to lose. you WILL NOT escape her if the user is even half-decent, cause you won't be able to slip in an attack without an ex-move unless you're uber lucky .
Hmm seth changed and players are up in arms? How quaint. Same thing happened to us Gen players.
Gen was downgraded to a point where he played differently enough to be a new character IMO.
I like some of the new ideas that they did change. Make crane stance seem more involved than the MK~hands loop. They nerfed him hard and they admitted their mistake to an extent by saying that they are tweaking based on fan feedback.
Granted info is scarce but what I've read seems interesting. Not enough I might say but who knows? This is a test and nothing is concrete. I'm eager to see what happens in the next few months before release of the AE. I would just like to know what they have in mind.

So, reading reactions to the fact that Cammy may be losing her meterless instant cannon strikes, I've been messing around in training mode trying to figure out why they're so important. I knew of the trick and that pros use it extensively, but not the finer details. And I have to say, I underestimated how big a difference it makes. You can do it at a distance to build meter, or up close to get in some safe-on-block chip damage (something Cammy can only normally get from the easily-interrupted Quick Spin Knuckle), and on top of that, since it's technically an aerial move it beats throw attempts.
And, most interestingly of all, if your timing is good enough you can combo into Ultra 1 or Super with no meter. I'm not very good at links and use a keyboard, so I had to mash a bit to find that out, but imagine what a highly experienced pro could make of that possibility.
This is all stuff serious Cammy players know of course, but I don't think the general public is really aware. Now, if you're some online scrub who gets owned by Cammy regularly, you're still likely to say "Boo hoo", but I've watched the tournaments. I've seen the Cammy players advance by sheer determination and practically sweating blood every second of every round. If this change goes through and there are no buffs considerably more significant than those we know of, Cammy is almost certainly hosed. I nearly feel bad for complaining about my Honda now... nearly.
They changed Bison's Ultra 2 to a charge command... lame though I do prefer Ultra 1 in some situations.
So after much thought over the weekend with these changes I personally think that some are just bad. Now this is what I don't get, why is Capcom nerfing the already low tier characters!!! They nerf the high tier characters but yet give them some other bonus at the same time. Why the hell are they nerfing El Fuete? I mean he needs as much damage and help he can get. Then I play Seth and they are changing him? He has the lowest hit points!!! Fireball spammers have a big advantage over him and his Ultra 1 is one of the main ways to punish that. It doesn't even do that much damage and they are nerfing it!! I mean why doesn't Capcom just take out 26 of the characters and make people play exactly what they are trying to make people play....shotos.The Seth change pissed me off the most. He has to have some kind of keep away game, I mean one of his combos take off as much damage as some random new spamming a dragon punch. I mean I see where the game is going.
It's real simple to fix the problems, you fix the higher tier characters, and buff the lower tier ones, this is the exact opposite on some characters. They are buffering high tier characters and nerfing low tier.
I'm saying it now. If they let some of these changes through on the low tier characters, like taking away their options I'll be done playing this game.
Take away Seth's jumping HP but yet increase sagats dp punch? Man get out of here with that.

@drew02k: Do you really think Capcom is trying to make a game entirely focused around shotos? If they wanted to do that they would've with the initial launch of SSFIV; and take a look at the tier list, no shotos are in the top five. While I do agree that changing Seth's j. Fp seems pretty shaddy at first, but have you actually played the Arcade Edition? Chances are you haven't and you don't know what it's actually like. It's one thing to read what it does but actually experiment with the move and use it is completely different. Sagat's TU needed a damage buff, maybe not as powerful as SFIV but it needs to be stronger. The most important thing you're forgetting is that this is a location TEST. Meaning these changes are being TESTED and are not official, they might and probably will change.

Ok...... call me stubborn but making changes to rose ultra is just mundane. just power up the ultra and take out a frame or 2 in the ultra then rose ulta 2 can be satisfying they if not throw a 3 orb in then then I would be satisfied. Beside rose is a defensive character and capcom gave her that ultra for reason. about 12options with that ultra

Many Gen players want his chains from alpha 3 back. Maybe these new-found links can ease our minds (Yes I am a Gen player) This has not been confirmed though. Still would be great and may needed. Just give is better meter gain along with that.
Admittedly I do like what they tried to do with gen in SSF4 it just wasn't enough.

I gotta say even though this isn't the final build I'm a bit disappointed overall on the changes especially on the low tier characters. Elfuerte for example ....its like CAPCOM are trying to make him into a mini Zangief ( in the sense that to get in your gonna eat alot of fireballs ) removing the invinsibility on his moves have really screwed him up. Or cammy her best options at rushdown just got removed ( You could even jab ur way out the TK cannon spikes ! ) .... I am disappointed CAPCOM but i hope for something better

Ibuki does't need buffs as she is already balanced. All this means is that you are going to get scrubs bandwagoning the 'New High tier' characters like Guy, Ibuki, Sakura, Juri etc...
Yup still want my man Gill in here, but as i said before without bull like Unblockable super or ultra, good balance like Seth and Akuma, lean towards a Big combo kind of character just like the aforementioned, shoutouts to Capcom =D
